I was so happy to find a Cattleman's Roadhouse location nearby when I was working in the area. Unfortunately my food wasn't as good as my meals at other locations. I ordered online for carry out. The bread and green beans were delicious. But the salmon was terribly overcooked and dry. Usually, I love salmon from Cattleman's as it is always cooked just right and very flavorful. But this salmon was cooked to well done and was tough and flavorless. Some of the toppings I had ordered for my baked potato were missing and the green onions had spilled in the bag because the lid wasn't on properly. The interior was very nice, clean, and well decorated. Service was friendly. I do love cattleman's, so I plan to give this location another try. Hopefully it was just a bad day in the kitchen. read more

Wife and I arrived before noon, but had a guest joining us, who arrived at 1215. We were seated and brought some drinks, rolls and butter. Tyler is our very cordial and patient server. The cook staff was short today, so food took a while to arrive. My Angus burger and extra crispy fries were perfect. Burger had a nice charbroil flavor. Wifey and guest ordered salad bar with side of chicken. They both liked the salad bar, but neither liked the chicken much. There is a dog at home getting the leftover chicken. read more

We were asked to wait because of shift change right when we walked in the door, not a good sign. We were seated in a back bar area. Our server was pleasant and took our drink order promptly. Then a second server introduced herself after explaining she didn't know why but they would be sharing duties. Okay. The main reason I returned to Cattleman's was because I had a delicious fried pork chop at the same restaurant but a different location 3 months prior and I couldn't stop thinking it. I ordered the same here. When it was served it was nothing like my previous. It was wet, with no breading or batter. Not crunchy. The chop was still moist but very disappointing. The service was erratic with a young man announcing they were understaffed. When I asked why there was a difference to our server she questioned if my photo from the previous experience was photoshopped. LoL, I took the photograph. The salad bar was still very good. I love a restaurant where you can get a nice salad bar with your meal. There's not a lot of those types place left, it seems. I'm sure the pandemic did a number on that type of place. So when I heard this place featured one, I was eager to give it a try. And the salad bar here lives up to my expectations. It was well stocked and maintained. But no one in my party was particularly thrilled with their main dish. My steak was on the bland side. No one had bad food. Everyone's was just okay. Met a friend here for a weekday lunch at noon and easily found parking. The place is usually packed, but was only half-full today and not surprising after a long holiday weekend (Labor Day). Immediate seating in a comfortable booth. Service was attentive and not rushed. Noise level was mild and easily able to hold a normal inside-voice conversation. I was tempted to get the salad bar, but decided to order the bruschetta chicken from the Lighter Options section of the menu -- a grilled chicken breast topped with basil pesto bruschetta and a choice of side (plain baked sweet potato). The topping was very flavorful and a bit more oily than I would have expected, as well as the potato being buttered when baked, so I'm glad I at least attempted to make a healthy choice. I did give in and also sampled a roll from the basket brought to the table and even added a schmear of cinnamon butter -- delicious and yeasty. Cattleman's Service has gone so far downhill. The last time we were able to sit down and eat, the server showed up one time and that's was because I asked for the check. Not a single refill, not a check on the food. Today, on Father's Day, we were put on the list with a 45 minute wait. They called us after about 50 minutes, and we all gathered (Party of 7) just to be told they made a mistake and put 2 instead of 7. Kicking us another 45 minutes. We have been wanting to visit Cattleman's Roadhouse, and we got a chance on an apparently slow night. The décor was as expected for a steak place -- a lot of pine wood. We were sat in the bar area, which was in the back. Unfortunately, were we near the door the employees used to go out and smoke. Our waiter was also the bartender. I ordered the 7 ounce Top Sirloin. My husband and I had the pleasure of eating at Cattleman's Roadhouse. The gets a 5 star review. I ordered the Tomato Basil chicken. My husband ordered The Chopper. We both added the salad bar. Their salad bar had so many choices. Plus so many options for dressing. We had a most delightful server. Her name is Savanna. She was one of the most upbeat person I have seen in a long time. We visited Cattleman's on a Saturday night. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, but that was ok. Our 1st visit to this location was good. The server took our drink order but didn't retirn for 10 minutes to get our food order. No rolls were available. Our entrees took awhile. The salad bar was good but needed to have things refilled like lettuce and several of the ready made salads. Our medium steaks were medium rare but we weren't checked on to tell anyone. I was trying to ask for rolls for 15 minutes. We finally got our rolls after we finished our meal. I guess it was our dessert. There was a server running around getting drinks & rolls for her customers. The food was okay except for the steaks being undercooked. We really enjoyed Cattlemen's before this visit. I ordered the daily special which was the country fried steak. I only ordered it because it came with the salad bar, which is $5 add on otherwise, and I figured it would be good. Well it was really bad. It had to be a frozen store bought piece of meat, something that you would get at a school cafeteria, and the gravy was unflavored. I don't usually complain and give multiple chances, but the past two times were not very good. I love the salad bar, but I don't think an extra $5 makes it worth it. Longhorns steaks are better and cheaper when you add the $5 up charge. read more

Went here for my father's birthday dinner and the food was delicious. We were sat promptly at a booth in the bar area. Our waitress (Michelle ) was great and very attentive and even picked up that it was my dad's birthday without us specifically telling her. They have another gentleman named Connor who brought out our food and he was very friendly and quick to help remove plates when bringing out your main course. It was very busy. Sat at the bar. Two bartenders worked very well together and communicated to cover the whole bar area. The whole staff worked together to make it a good experience even though it was high volume. Even saw the manager pop in to help them do dishes. Today was a terrible experience. We were there at 12:30. My silverware was dirty. The rolls were flat and completely dried out. The waitress said that they all looked like that. We got salad bar and had to wait a good 10 minutes just for lettuce. After watching the salad bar being refilled we totally lost our appetite. Touching each spoon with her gloves and reaching into the eggs with same glove to loosen them up...using a rag to wipe off the surrounding surface and then the plates below. Do not go to this restaurant. They have extremely rude service. Open seating in bar is limited to a very few tables and if they dont have enough servers they will make you move to another table. Asked for a receipt last time and had to hunt down server to bring it to me. She got real nasty because i asked for a receipt. We waited several months to finally try this steakhouse due to how crowded it's been since opening. We stopped in on a Thursday night and were seated right away at a table in the bar area. After being seated, it was 20+ minutes before anyone acknowledged us, brought menus, it took drink orders. Once our drinks and rolls came out, it took another 15 minutes for a different waitress to take our order. We ordered a steak, the grilled salmon with bourbon glaze, and both got a baked potato. We also both added the salad bar after hearing rave reviews about it. We proceeded to the salad bar, where an employee was refilling all the salad ingredients -- dumping plastic pales of cheese, dressing, etc. into the containers. Obviously the dressings here aren't made in-house, and nothing on the salad bar is chopped or sliced, it's all pre-packaged. Overall salad bar impression: lettuce was fresh, ranch dressing was not to our taste. Tasted like bottled dressing, like Kraft. Won't get again, especially not for an upcharge. As far as entrees, they were very generic? I guess that's the word I'm looking for. The steak was bland, the salmon was decent but the bourbon glaze kind of killed it for me -- it tasted like a cheap glaze out of a packet or something. Following our meal, it took almost 30 minutes to get our check and finally pay so we could leave. This entire meal and service was a huge disappointment, especially for $70. Will not return. This is a knock-off steakhouse with cheap ingredients from a food service supplier. read more

We were traveling and wanting something that was not fast food. After continuing to drive for over an hour, we saw the sign for this place. We had the lunch sirloin special and it was delicious. Very tender and perfectly done steak. Salad bar was great. Service also good. We will try to find another one in our travels! read more

Stopped by Cattleman's for lunch. Had the black and bleu burger and the unlimited salad bar. The waitress, Vanessa, brought us some rolls with cinnamon butter and kept our glasses of water filled. Went in to this place after a sales call day, was greeted immediately at the door. The hostess asked me if I would like to go to the bar area which I did. I sat immediately and was quickly offered to order drinks. The restaurant was spotless with a cool vibe. The Server/Bartender Brandon is completely on top of his game. One of the best severs I've had in a while. He offered suggestions for steaks. I said I was rather hungry. He suggested the Sheriff, which is a 20oz sirloin and was cooked to perfection. It's great to have Cattleman's join the southern Indiana food lineup! I've eaten at other cattlemen locations and enjoyed every visit! Tonight was no exception. Prompt greet at the door (no wait) for a table we were set immediately. Our server was great. She took drink and app orders on her first visit to the table..this is a steakhouse so eat steak! I had the 7oz sirloin cooked to perfection with a side of white Mac and cheese. Presentation was appetizing the food was great! Prior to your meal you get to graze the salad bar..seriously I could eat just salads here a lot of choices on salad bar..fresh greens veggies, fruit and they had beets! I love those nasty tasting beets! Our service stayed consistent the food was great. I dined with three other guest, there wasn't a complaint. Delicious steaks, some of the best we've had for a long time. Plus they had a wonderful salad bar for less than $5 to add to your meal. They also had daily specials (like 6oz steak, fried chicken, or country fried steak) that included the all-you-can eat salad bar for around $15. First time eating here. My brother's and I brought my dad here for his 74th birthday. I arrived first, about 15 minutes before. I procured a seat for us. Not once during that 15 minutes did I see a waitress after being seated. My father and younger brother came in next and was seated. After about another 10 minutes my other brother joined us. Again no waitress. It was not until I caught attention of a waitress did we get waited on. It was my understanding the waitress who was to take our table was doing other things. The one who did serve us was great. What started out as a bad outing became one that was worth the frustration. The steak was tender and seasoned just right. I ordered it medium rare and it came out correctly. I had fries that I can only describe as some of the best I have had for a steak house. Second visit to Cattleman's Roadhouse in New Albany, IN. Good steak and excellent salad bar. Nothing fancy here, as you will see by the food photos, but you will get a good tasting steak for a decent price. Good yeast rolls with butter & honey butter. I had the Tender Tips with onions & Mushrooms & a plain sweet potato. Mike had the Cattleman's Sirloin with a buttered baked potato.Of course, you don't get to fix your own salad at the salad bar, but it is not a disappointment. Lots of choices. Our server's name tag said, "Beef." Beef was very pleasant & did an excellent job checking on us. I notice there were 3 large parties. They are social distancing well.
