    Fried Porkchop
    Jeffrey R.

We were asked to wait because of shift change right when we walked in the door, not a good sign. We were seated in a back bar area. Our server was pleasant and took our drink order promptly. Then a second server introduced herself after explaining she didn't know why but they would be sharing duties. Okay. The main reason I returned to Cattleman's was because I had a delicious fried pork chop at the same restaurant but a different location 3 months prior and I couldn't stop thinking it. I ordered the same here. When it was served it was nothing like my previous. It was wet, with no breading or batter. Not crunchy. The chop was still moist but very disappointing. The service was erratic with a young man announcing they were understaffed. When I asked why there was a difference to our server she questioned if my photo from the previous experience was photoshopped. LoL, I took the photograph. The salad bar was still very good. Just disappointing.

Met a friend here for a weekday lunch at noon and easily found parking. The place is usually packed, but was only half-full today and not surprising after a long holiday weekend (Labor Day). Immediate seating in a comfortable booth. Service was attentive and not rushed. Noise level was mild and easily able to hold a normal inside-voice conversation. I was tempted to get the salad bar, but decided to order the bruschetta chicken from the Lighter Options section of the menu -- a grilled chicken breast topped with basil pesto bruschetta and a choice of side (plain baked sweet potato). The topping was very flavorful and a bit more oily than I would have expected, as well as the potato being buttered when baked, so I'm glad I at least attempted to make a healthy choice. I did give in and also sampled a roll from the basket brought to the table and even added a schmear of cinnamon butter -- delicious and yeasty. Great value and reasonable compared to similar sit down venues.

We have been wanting to visit Cattleman's Roadhouse, and we got a chance on an apparently slow night. The décor was as expected for a steak place -- a lot of pine wood. We were sat in the bar area, which was in the back. Unfortunately, were we near the door the employees used to go out and smoke. Our waiter was also the bartender. I ordered the 7 ounce Top Sirloin. I wasn't anything special, but it was perfectly OK. It was cooked properly but lacked flavor.

We waited several months to finally try this steakhouse due to how crowded it's been since opening. We stopped in on a Thursday night and were seated right away at a table in the bar area. After being seated, it was 20+ minutes before anyone acknowledged us, brought menus, it took drink orders. Once our drinks and rolls came out, it took another 15 minutes for a different waitress to take our order. We ordered a steak, the grilled salmon with bourbon glaze, and both got a baked potato. We also both added the salad bar after hearing rave reviews about it. We proceeded to the salad bar, where an employee was refilling all the salad ingredients -- dumping plastic pales of cheese, dressing, etc. into the containers. Obviously the dressings here aren't made in-house, and nothing on the salad bar is chopped or sliced, it's all pre-packaged. Overall salad bar impression: lettuce was fresh, ranch dressing was not to our taste. Tasted like bottled dressing, like Kraft. Won't get again, especially not for an upcharge. As far as entrees, they were very generic? I guess that's the word I'm looking for. The steak was bland, the salmon was decent but the bourbon glaze kind of killed it for me -- it tasted like a cheap glaze out of a packet or something. Following our meal, it took almost 30 minutes to get our check and finally pay so we could leave. This entire meal and service was a huge disappointment, especially for $70. Will not return. This is a knock-off steakhouse with cheap ingredients from a food service supplier.

I met up with a friend, and I liked the fact that we could hear each other when we spoke. I ordered the goat cheese appetizer and Moroccan meatball appetizer. Both came out hot. The goat cheese balls had a crispy outer shell and were very yummy. The meatballs were in a unique tomato-based sauce which I also enjoyed. I ordered the Voodoo pasta with blackened shrimp. I am not usually impressed by cream based pasta, but this time I was. The pasta was bursting with flavor as were the grilled shrimp. There was a generous amount of crunchy shrimp in the entree. I also had tried the Drink With No Name. I have nothing negative to say about it. You won't either. Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive, so service was, in other words, perfect. Portions are generous.

Great ambiance and decor, feels rustic and chic at the same time! Comfortable chairs which is rare to find anymore. We were seated at a low table in the room at the front which was nice as it was quieter than the big open restaurant in the main part. My mom and I had a great lunch! The attentive waitress shared that the chef was new and it was a new menu. There were so many fabulous choices on the menu it was hard to choose. Goat cheese burger, fish and chips, Brie and jam grilled cheese, Nashville hot chicken, just so many things sounded good. I opted for the Nashville hot chicken, it was moist chicken breaded and nice and crisp, with a creamy slaw and a chili oil drizzled on it for more spice, then it also had habagardil pickles on it, the best pickles I have ever had! Only a couple places use these local pops habagardil pickles and they are spicy and delicious. The sandwich was delicious on a brioche bun. Messy, and magical this sandwich was. The fries were so good it was hard to stop eating them! My mom had the blueberry jam and bacon Brie grilled cheese with a drizzle of balsamic glaze, and she eats very little but she devoured this sandwich and also loved the fries! The tomato basil soup also looked good! I will have to become a repeat customer because I need to try that goat cheese burger and the salmon bowl, well, and every single entree on the menu!! Bringing friends back soon!! The chef here is creating some amazing food!! The only issue we had was finding parking. She uses a walker and the only place we could find to park was handicapped over at a neighboring restaurant and it was a bit of a walk for someone with mobility issues. Front doors are heavy, and you have to open both doors for it to be wide enough for the walker to go through, so getting in wasn't easy. Food amazing, accessibility challenging.

We arrived at 7:50 PM for an 8 PM reservation. We got cocktails at the bar, a whiskey sour and a Cosmo. Truthfully, we were not really impressed with our drinks. We were then seated around 8:15 PM. I tend to be picky regarding reservation times and honoring them so I was displeased by the wait... to my surprise this restaurant walked away with a 5 star review regardless. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Provided good recommendations that I'm sure improved our overall experience. We ordered the old fashion to share, per our waitresses recommendation and it made up for the pre-dinner cocktails! Delicious! Our appetizers, the burrata and heirloom tomatoes & stracciatella, were a good start! Good flavor and light enough for the starter. However, the French onion gratinee stole the show. Presentation was beautiful and flavor was on point for a classic French onion soup. I ordered the belly-on pork tomahawk and was very pleased with the tenderness and flavor, especially when I asked it to be cooked more medium well. My husband got the 22oz dry aged ribeye, the repeal way with the crab on top. He requested it be cooked medium rare plus and that's exactly what he received. He expressed how amazing the steak was cooked and the flavor. We shared a side of whipped Yukon potatoes that weren't too hot to dig into! These were creamy/buttery and perfect side for our entrees. As you can imagine, we were too full to have dessert but took a piece of cheesecake to go and shared later. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed the cheesecake. The blueberry compote was a delicious addition but the plain cheesecake shines all on its own! If I'm ever back in Louisville. I will be back and I'm bringing my friends.
