Great Texas steakhouse vibe with great service and the food came quickly. I Had the prime rib, while the texture was perfect, melt in the mouth, it was cooked to order, but the temperature was cold. The au jus was flat, like a bouillon beef cube dissolved in water. The waiter asked if I'd like onions and sautéed mushrooms and didn't specify that they were addition cost. The sides were...edible, but nothing to write home about. The steak was great quality, but too thinly sliced for the price. My partner had the mushroom ravioli, which was good, not great. It is a treat to come back to Cattlemens. This is a revenge meal because we wanted to try their beef ribs and tumbleweed onion when we were at the Roseville location. We like coming to Cattlemens because the menu has something for everyone. It is unpretentious and we always felt welcomed. This location is busy and the wait times for both a table and entrees from the kitchen can take a while. Our server Elizabeth was great. She got us bread and salad right after we ordered. The tumbleweed onion $14 came with BBQ and ranch sauce. Very solid. The cowboy steak $40 still rein as my favorite. The flavor is complex and didn't even need steak sauce. The beef rib $32 came out as this mountain of meat. Wow. It was perfectly cooked with a good amount of BBQ sauce. We ended up taking 1/2 of it home as it was a lot. This is coming from someone that can do a 16oz prime rib with no sweat. Maybe it was because we had to wait a long time and got full off the bread and salad. Hopefully we can come back again soon. My girlfriend and co-worker, Kelly, and I went to Reno to visit our retired boss a couple of weeks ago. We had a GREAT foodie weekend! We decided to have dinner at Cattlemens in Dixon on the way home. What a great experience; I loved the old west decor, Samantha took great care of us, and our food was yummy! We both got the prime rib and lobster; it was so good! I had been thinking about lobster, so it was perfect. The dinners come with endless salad (which was really fresh), yummy bread, and beans. We shared our veggie and baked potato sides. We agreed we would return, but maybe to the Livermore location since it's closer. But, since we were in the area and my husband has always loved Cattlemen's we stopped in. We got there when they had just opened. The service was excellent this time. We had Caiden as our server and he was outstanding! He was right there with everything. The dinner was excellent. The steak was delicious. The flavor was great and perfectly cooked at medium. The employees are rude and don't know basic customer service nor manners. I ordered my steak medium rare. It came out BURNT. I was afraid to ask the server to take it back because she was so rude from the beginning. Well I ended up sending it back. When I got the next steak it was RAW. Not even rare but RAW. With the prices of going out to eat these days i advise you to be more choosy when going out. Not only can they not prepare a proper steak but they also have rude staff. The first time I went the power literally went completely out before we could get our food... but I don't regret coming here a second time. This was probably the best experience I've ever had in any restaurant in a while or most likely just in general. Not only did we get greeted with nothing but pure hospitality and smiles but our wait time was simple. We put in our group (of three), sit down, and almost immediately get right back up to get seated. It was absolutely hassle free and as soon as we sat down we got to meet our server. And as someone who works fast food I know how the end of a shift can feel but our server Tara was the best. She was nothing but a complete sweetheart and joy to have as our server making sure our waters were full, salad, bread, and food were all nothing but perfect. With nothing short of a great attitude, smile, and amazing attention to detail. The ambiance here was absolutely incredible and I will be coming here again I hope to get the same waiter because she was the best. Please do yourself a favor and stay away! Came here twice recently once for father's day and another time recently. Both times were extremely terrible. The service: The service on father's day was okay for the most part. We made a reservation for 7:30pm but didn't get a table until 8:15pm. I get it tables overstay and all but what is the point of a reservation system if it takes that much longer to get a table. Also on father's day the server did their best to keep us topped off with salad and bread but the food took such a long time to come out the manager had to comp our entire meal it was ridiculous but we appreciate their understanding. Fast forward to the service I had the other day it was terrible. Once we got seated the waitress had a bad attitude throughout the entire dinner and she also messed up our orders (forgot entire items,never refilled our bread and salad like we asked, and 2 of our steaks were over cooked) All in all out of the 2 times we went the service seems to be hit or miss which is a huge deal because I don't want a waiter/waitress with a bad attitude. Who knows what they do to our food if we bring up any issues. The Food: both times we went the appetizers were fantastic and I love their bread and the salad. But these items are the beginning of your food course not the main dish. Now here comes the main dish, Ribeyes. Asked for medium rare and the first night it was extremely underdone it was rare not even warm in the middle. The 2nd time I asked for medium rare again but this time it was medium but with alot of char on it so it tasted burnt. Both times the steak had zero flavor to it and they say it's their most marbled cut but the quality of the meat itself tastes like usda choice the quality was not there at all like it was described on their menu. Their steaks tasted like it was not seasoned at all no pepper,salt,butter nothing just meat thrown onto a grill and that's it. Overall I will not be coming back to this establishment nor other cattleman's if I ever come across is while traveling. You would think that with a name like "Cattlemen's steak house" they'd know how to cook a steak but they don't on top of the quality of the meat being terrible. You are definitely NOT getting your moneys worth here at all. Avoid this place if humanly possible. read more
