My husband and I went to cattlemen's on Friday night. I've heard good reviews. I've heard bad reviews but I'll be honest with you. It was great. The beef rack of ribs were amazing. You got so much for your money. The New York strip for My Husband was really good. He said he said he liked it better than Ruth Chris, which was pretty amazing of comment about a steak they gave you plenty of salad, family style they gave you wonderful sourdough bread, and they gave you baked beans. We really were pleased with our evening. The staff was wonderful. The drinks were good. We both had one drink my tie they were just like in Hawaii, everybody was very friendly. I will never disrespect Texas Roadhouse ever again by going to a different steakhouse. Came here with friends for the first time. We waited 15 minutes after already having a reservation. It started off well but quickly went down hill. Went looking at the menu for 2 seconds when They kept pushing their promo/special in our face. New York steak and shrimp. I was the only one that fell for it. Not only did our server not check on us as often but left our water cups empty. Had to ask for a soda 3 times. My daughter's burger was 2inches thick of a patty. What 6 year old can open their mouth that wide?! No ketchup around. She couldn't eat it. My husbands food was "3minutes" late. Ended up being 12 minutes late. He was the last person to receive his food. While I tried to eat my what looked super fucking red inside of a steak when asking for medium. It was tough. Chewy. And had to be swallowed for the most part. It had to be drowned in steak sauce. I Ate a few slices. And packed it up. Shrimp was so bland and the server no where to be seen to be asked for lemons. Our waitress had a serious attitude, the worst part of this night out, was when the manager Hector asked us to switch tables because we were at a table that they needed to have for a big party coming in, mind you we were already eating the first part of our meal, so we had to move our stuff to the new table. My first time, I ordered a Bloody Mary and it was very good perfect blend sour, spicy and delicious. My husband ordered a sirloin dinner and I ordered the rack of lamb. While we were waiting for our entree we received steaming hot French bread and a never ending salad. The salad was fresh blending red onions,croutons, cucumbers and tomatoes. We both loved it. Came here for Father's Day with the family and enjoyed the Father's Day Special, which I believe was called "The Cowboy". I also tried some of their other steaks and a rack of ribs and everything was very tender and delicious. I'm between 3 and 4 stars for Cattleman's. I'm a plant-based eater but every few months I get a craving for meat. Cattleman's is usually where my family chooses to go to satisfy that craving. We always go on Wednesday because we get the small sirloin deal. It's a good price for everything you get. I love the salad and usually eat at least two bowls of it. It comes with a baked potato which is always good. The steak is very well seasoned and it's cooked exactly the way I want, medium-rare. The beans are just OK. You get this tiny little bowl of beans and they aren't that great and they're never consistent. Sometimes they're dry and seasoned, sometimes they are closer to a bland bean soup. Honestly, they should either make them consistently great or get rid of them. There is also a wonderful sourdough bread which comes out warm and they'll continue to offer you more. The service is also very good. What I don't love about Cattleman's is the restaurant itself. It's dark, you feel like you're in a barn, and they constantly play country music. You can also wait a pretty long time to get seated or to get your food. You never really know what you're in for when you walk in. I usually bank on at least an hour to eat here. My youngest son eats off the kids' menu. He switches between the burger and the kids' ribs. The burger is gigantic. The ribs are huge as well. read more

I came here yesterday with family and it was absolutely terrible. The service was extremely kind and thorough but the food was atrocious, I really should be giving a one-star but the server was incredibly warm and friendly. We arrived right at 5pm when they opened and were seated fairly quickly (within 15 mins for walk-ins). The place reminds me of a cheesy Disney or Dollywood (I love Dollywood) western-themed restaurant. Before we opened our menus we were asked for our drink order, it took me a few mins to decide as we prefer to order appetizers and drinks at the same time. We noticed our glasses had lip gloss marks and food flecks inside both. Our silverware also had particles of food and we were in the first batch of 15-20 people for Sunday dinner service. Food: The server thought because I asked about how many of their onion strings come with the rib eye and she mistook this for me wanting an appetizer of onion strings. They arrived greasy, literally dripping grease and light, not even golden fried. I let her know we didn't order it, we simply asked a question. My mother ordered a rib eye med-well with a baked potato. The rib eye was incredibly underseasoned and full of fat not to mention it was tough as leather. She tends to like a good sear on the steak, but this was so tough and tasted of lighter fluid, like straight-up gasoline. We were very concerned and asked if they cook it with lighter fluid and all that we received as a response was that it was cooked on a grill. I tasted it as well and spit it out immediately. The potato was fine. We shared sauteed mushrooms and both had to spit those out as well they were SO incredibly salty and overseasoned with what tasted like an Italian herb grinder gone overboard. We shared a salad with ranch dressing, both of us thought the ranch tasted a bit off and salty as well so we didn't bother finishing it. My entree was a full rack of baby back pork ribs (I love ribs), when they arrived I was surprised at how they looked. Boiled, pale and beige no smoke. I tried a bite, my mother did as well and we could not believe these were actually served to us. I asked if they were smoked and they aren't. Just terrible texture like boiled meat, no flavor, the sauce was bland. We will never go here again and there are so many other local steakhouses and BBQ places in the bay area. What a disappointment, we had to leave and go to a different restaurant after about an hour and the bill was pricey for food that was completely uneaten. read more

This is one of my family's "vegan exception" restaurants. We are local to this location (Livermore) and when we occasionally want to eat meat, we go here for a steak. The servers have always been good. Some got to know us by name when we were more regular there. This isn't a fast-food restaurant and my family goes here expecting that. One can get a small sirloin on Wednesday for less than menu price (I think it's $4 off or something like that).
