As a frequent traveler and vegetarian, I love Cava. I can reliably get a delicious, healthy, high-protein bowl of vegetables that lasts me up to two meals. My fave is a custom bowl with a base of spinach and lentils, red pepper and regular hummus, a little harissa, falafel or roasted veg (they usually load the bowl with veg since they seem to be a less-popular choice), tons of miraculously-always-ripe tomatoes, and whatever seasonal add-ins look good. I rarely get bread and never need dressing--the ingredients alone provide plenty of flavor. Ask the staff if you want recommendations or more of something; I've found they're always happy to help. This location is on par with other Cavas I've been to. No complaints about speed or service or availability of ingredients. Then again, I never order meat, and I know some of the seasonal choices are more likely to sell out before end of day. read more

The service was lousy and argued about serving more than a third of the bowl. I never went to to quick serve restaurant where they actively argue over filling up the bowl. Added the extra star because the flavors were fabulous. I usually love Cava as one of those healthier, filling, faster food options. However, I got a falafel bowl... the falafel was overcooked. The toppings were sparse... I spent $14 and I'm literally still hungry. And the service was horrendous. Generally, employees in the customer service industry SHOULD be understanding and patient in helping their guests to determine what foods are safe for them to eat with an allergy. Right!? I mean, I don't think you want to be the store that sends your customers to the hospital!? Well, instead I was met with a snippy attitude, and guy that stopped helping or speaking to me, packaged my food anyways (even though I was clearly worried), bagged my food with no napkins, no silverware, didn't ask if I wanted a drink or anything else, and then after I inserted my card while still trying to determine if I was ok to eat this food, he literally walked away....... Walked away. I had to actually grab my own napkins and silverware from behind the kiosk. I would tell you the name of the employee... but he's not wearing a name tag (older, Hispanic, only one wearing black mask...). I needed to write this review. My bank accidentally deactivated my check card so I had to get cash to do any transactions. I went to this location and apparently I was unaware they no longer accept cash at any location. I had already ordered my food. ALL the employees there were FANTASTIC and very understanding of my situation. They didn't charge me. I tried to give the $20 cash i had as a tip but they said they can't accept any cash at all. This is my new favorite place!!! I'm so glad it's a chain and there are a few locations around. Their philosophy is great, local sourced products and natural ingredients. Flavors are great, and it seems like it's a healthier choice than my regular Chipotle. I usually get the bowl, and it is plenty for one person. Very filling. You get an explosion of flavors in your mouth. My favorite are the spreads and they let you pick up to three. Roasted red pepper hummus is awesome. As far as the toppings go, I always get them all! The more the merrier. They have many different lemonades and drinks and I always find myself mixing them and creating new flavors, the beet lemonade and the pineapple one are a must! I've heard amazing things about CAVA and I finally decided to try it. My boyfriend recommended it and I was hesitant because I'm such a huge chipotle fan BUT I was pleasantly surprised as to how much I liked it. I did think that they could have been more generous with the amount of vegetables they can give us and I had to ask for more lettuce and olives because they only give you like 5 pieces. The price is a little more expensive than I would imagined but i can admit that its probably a more healthier alternative to chipotle and its a different cuisine. I haven't tried out this new Cava since it opened but thought I'd give it a try today. Unfortunately the visit went sour quickly after I sat to enjoy my meal. I opted for double meat and paid full including a drink. As soon as I went in to take my first bite, I noticed a long piece of hair in my bowl. I went up to the register to show them the Bowl with the hair which at that point, the manager approached me with an attitude asking if I wanted a new Bowl or a refund. Her tone threw me off and in return I requested the refund. I patiently waited and asked her if they were supposed to wear a hairnet and get response was "no, just a hat" I need asked her why the girl in the line wasn't wearing a hat and she stated, "she's not supposed to be in line. She's supposed to be working the register" I need asked again, so why is she in line? That's probably her hair in my dish and she just shrugged her shoulders. I've been sitting outside the establishment and she has yet to ask the young lady to step away from the line and still has her running around the back line with her hair exposed in a ponytail. When I asked for corporates number, she wouldn't provide it to me. When I asked her for her name, she kept telling me to go online and write an email. Finally after the fourth time asking, she wrote her name on the back of the refund receipt in a fat sharpie where it can't be made out. I'm not certain what's happening with customer service, but it seems that it is fading quickly. I couldn't believe the attitude I was receiving when I was simply trying to make them aware that there's hair in the line. Btw... the hair came out of the feta dip so it has been sitting there. I've never had a negative experience with Cava when it came to customer service but this isn't the first time I've dealt with hair in my Bowl. I think it would be best for them to tighten up their "hat" policy since they can't seem to control the hair from getting into their dishes. read more

Most people in the DC metro area are familiar with Cava. It's build your own Mediterranean bowl, salad, pita, etc. The ingredients seem fresh and most of them are delicious. I've tried Supergreens, brown rice, grilled chicken, falafel, tzatziki, hummus, and much more. They let you choose a max of 3 spreads, but as many toppings as you desire. The decisions become overwhelming. I'm not sure if I have found the perfect combination of ingredients for my taste buds, but eventually I'll figure it out. I think having 3 spreads in my bowl was a little too much for me to handle. Probably just going to stick with tzatziki and hummus spreads next time. They also have a variety of fruity drinks, such as pineapple apple mint, beet lemonade, and a few others. The beet lemonade was interesting. The food establishment is about the size you would expect of a fast casual chain. They only have hard benches and seats. That tells me they want people to have their food quickly and get out. Most places nowadays have hard seats. It gets crowded during lunch time, so I advise to get it to go. Their online ordering system is either not functioning correctly or the employees need assistance using it. The process is broken. My colleague and I went to go pick up a large order, and the look on their face when we showed up was "Oh no, we completely forgot about it!" Although we showed up at the time we were supposed to, we had to wait an additional 15 to 20 minutes. There was another customer's large online order who they also forgot about. Nevertheless, staff gave us complimentary cups to try the fruity drinks, and also provided us several coupons for free meals in the future. That made up for their mistake. I am extremely excited about the new location of Cava in Kingstowne! This is my first time trying Cava and I am very pleased with my experience. When you first get in, it's a little confusing how ordering takes place, I would love it if the staff directed you a little or even suggested what to have/try. The food was outstanding! It was super yummy and I felt like I was really eating a healthy meal. I love all of the options for meat or meatless items. I would highly suggest giving Cava a try. My favorite for sure is the grain bowl, witha couple different scoops of hummus, tzakiki, crazy feta, and then all different toppins and sauces. It is so yummy that way! And the pita chips are yummy! I'm addicted. Maybe it's because it's fresh and new and just a new option to go to, but I have not been disappointed thus far. The ingredients offered are fresh and delicious. I have not been to a CAVA prior to this location, so the way of ordering was a learning curve (so many options!). Combining greens and grains gives a healthy twist to this entree. My favorite is the Mesculin Mix with brown rice. From there, anything goes, but out of the three sauces you can choose, at least one has to be the red harissa. The spice level is just right and it is tasty. You won't be disappointed. Bottom Line: While it may be on the pricier side for lunch, it's worth it! Don't forget the pita that comes with it! I love CAVA. I don't frequent as often as I used to since I moved, but CAVA is still a go to for fresh, healthy, tasty fast-casual food. They have seasonal offerings to allow you to switch up your options. We like this as a dinner pick-up option because everyone can customize their own bowl. The on-line ordering is seamless and always ready quickly. The ordering process is quick and efficient. There is always plenty of seating and parking at this location. It is true that the price is a little steep for fast casual food, but it beats the price of a sit down and the health pitfalls of most fast food. The service can be a bit spotty when it's the off-peak hours, but with a fast casual experience as long as I get my food quickly, correctly, and hot, I'm not really bent out of shape about staff horsing around and stuff. If you're familiar with that location you're accustomed to standing in line. Not so much at their Kingstowne location. It's a bit of a hidden gem comparatively. I've been here half a dozen times and have yet to wait in line. The food is always fresh and topped off. Unlike a busier chipotle where they're scrapping the bottom of a bucket. I'm not one for soda electing the free water cup instead. What's great is they have seltzer water on tap. It's quite refreshing. read more
