For what it is, Cava holds its own. You're not walking out speechless, but you're not mad either. It's solid fast-casual Mediterranean with a decent amount of customization. The honey chicken had a nice bite, and the braised lamb brought some depth, though neither dish felt like it demanded a return visit. Staff was cool and helpful. The line moved fast. CAVA in Porter Ranch. The service counter where the food is displayed was honestly disgusting. There was excess food spilled all over, and it didn't look like it had been cleaned in a long time. Seeing leftover food sitting out in plain view where customers are supposed to order and eat is completely unacceptable. It gave the impression that cleanliness is not a priority at this location, which is concerning when it comes to food service. I usually enjoy Cava, but this visit was a huge letdown. I ordered both a kid's plate and a regular bowl, and the portions were shockingly stingy--even at the end of the night when you'd think they'd be generous with food that's just sitting there. My bowl had barely any rice, the lamb (which costs almost $4 extra) came as two tiny pinches, and when I asked for just a little arugula on top, they said I'd be charged extra. Really? For five leaves of lettuce? The quality was disappointing too. The lamb was cold and chewy (I actually had to spit some out), the crispy pita was cold and dripping with oil, and the kids' plate was almost insulting--two falafel balls the size of quarters for $8. On top of that, they forgot my drink and my side pita, so I had to go back and ask for what I had already paid for. Overall, the experience felt rushed, careless, and stingy. For the prices they charge, I expect decent portions, fresh food, and at least the items I ordered. Sadly, none of that happened this time. read more

This Cava (Porter Ranch) is probably my favorite location in the Los Angeles area, including the Santa Monica & South Bay locations. Always clean with a big dining area & lots of tables, easy parking, the proteins are always hot & seem pretty fresh, the greens are never wilted and one of the most important things, the staff kicks ass! I've been to this location probably 5 times in the last 6 months, and EVERY TIME, every person that I've interacted with has been smiling, friendly, helpful and efficient. Even when there's a long line, they keep the line moving fast and everyone is in a good mood! The team seems like they're actually enjoying being there and it seems like they have fun at work, something that's impressive considering they're doing food service in an area that can (admittedly) have lots of entitled & wannabe aloof dummies. The first time we tried this location about a year ago, my wife actually commented on how nice & friendly everyone was, and that has stayed consistent every other time we've been there, whether it's both of us and we're dining in, or it's just me picking up take-out. Special shout out to Emilio @ the Porter Ranch location! I visited a couple weeks ago for take out and it was towards the end of the night, about 20 minutes before they closed. Despite what was probably a long day (at least it was for me!), Emilio was enthusiastic & helpful, and radiated positivity! I have visited this location several additional times, and the food has consistently been excellent. On one occasion, when customer traffic slowed, most employees took a break while one employee continued working and cleaning the facility on her own. It would be great to see everyone pitching in rather than a single employee handling the cleaning alone. Overall, I have enjoyed dining here and interacting with the staff, with the exception of one interaction with a male employee that was starting the bowls. Now, I have nothing against anyone with disabilities or whom may be on the spectrum. I often applaud organizations that hire special needs individuals; however, this young man should not be interacting with people. read more

Usually a fan of Cava, however the most recent visit struck sanitary concerns. The employee dropped a bottle of empty sauce and kicked it aside. He then picked it up off the ground and threw it in the designated dirty dish bin. That wasn't the issue though, it was him wrapping my pita right afterwards without even changing gloves. read more

Best spot ever. The make your own ability is like chipotle but better bc their portions are actually decent. And the flavor combinations are awesome with all the different choices of sauces and meats. My wife Lisa came by the Cava at the Vineyards at Porter Ranch around 4 o clock today. They' were making the food and they had a slight hiccup. Usually, this location is amazing, but the last 2 times I've gone, I've received sub-par food. The falafel was hard and the rice was cold. Today, I ordered a kids meal, and was surprised when I had to wait for 30 minutes after the app said my food was ready.
