I think the AC was out when I visited this location. It was hot and muggy inside but the staff were so friendly and kind, it made up for it. I would have kept the doors open for some fresh air though. It was my first time at CAVA. I tried the spicy lamb meatballs and the steak. All their sauces and hummus were so yummy. I recommend looking at the menu online because it outlines how many of eat item you can ask for and the menus in the restaurant are SO TINY! It was super easy to order and they also have some pre-set items if you want an easy order. I've been doing their bowls over the pita as I find it's easier and less messy for me. The flavor profile of all the dressings and toppings together was amazing and refreshing. If you like the other chain BYOB spot, you will like Cava for sure if not more (which is my case). Service has been heavily understaffed all the times I've gone which resulted in longer wait times. Maybe it's the holiday season? The build your own bowls here are convenient and always tasty. I usually get chicken and the pita chip side is also really good. Customer service here is really a hit or miss. The last time I came here, an individual with reddish hair and beard was unhelpful and rude. A concern was brought up to him that the romaine was brown and looked to be spoiled. Instead of acknowledging our concerns, he reiterated that he doesn't know what we want him to do. If a whole batch of romaine is spoiled, common sense would tell you to throw it away and switch it out for a batch that isn't. Moreover, when we asked for more pita crisps, he told us there was "no more" and after we asked again, he reluctantly went back to scoop crumbs into our bowl. Luckily, there was another person at the time helping us that was very nice and took the initiative to fry more pita crisps when he saw that there was no more (he was wearing a black shirt and cap). read more

I had a very uncomfortable experience during my most recent visit to CAVA. The employees at this location could really benefit from additional training on customer service. I waited in line for about ten minutes to place my order. A Caucasian man arrived and stood behind me. A Caucasian employee (a scrawny man in his late 40s with stubble on his face- this is petty but accurate given the circumstance) then came out from the kitchen when it was finally my turn to order he told the man behind me to go ahead and place his order before me. He motioned him with hand to go around me. I was shocked and confused since I had been waiting patiently in line before that man. What made the situation worse was that the other employees didn't say anything even though a couple saw the situation. When another employee eventually came over to take my order, I asked if this type of behavior was normal, and she just laughed at my question. I've always enjoyed coming to this CAVA location and have never had an issue before, but this experience left me feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. The discriminatory behavior I witnessed should be taken seriously and addressed by management. I won't be supporting this business anymore. read more

Cava is a fantastic build-your-own Mediterranean bowl destination. Think of it as similar to Chipotle, but with a Mediterranean twist to the ingredients. This location in Pasadena is busy pretty much all the time and even more busy during prime eating hours so be prepared if you going for lunch and on a time crunch. It's a popular spot so it can be hectic and crowded I've seen the line go out the door before. The food is great it's everything you would want in a bowl - I always get the grains and super greens bowl some of my favorite add ons are pickles, hummus,tzatziki and I love the SKUG sauce is guud. Don't forget the free side of pita ! This place is so popular, and everyone seems to rave about how amazing it is, and it's definitely overhyped. Ordered a bowl with basmati rice, falafel, tzatziki, chickpeas, and many other vegetables, and it just wasn't that great. The rice wasn't bad, but the falafel lacked flavor, and it was quite dry, and the other vegetables had no seasoning whatsoever. Everything was very lackluster, which it was a shame because the portion was great, but when everything is so bland that you don't even eat half of it then it doesn't really matter if the bowl is half full to begin with. Personally I don't think what you're paying is worth for very mediocre food. Definitely skip it. read more

My go-to bowl is the grains with brown rice. I like the chicken the best and I get two scoops of hummus with one scoop of red pepper hummus. For sides I get the corn, pickled onions (my fav), tomatoes, and cucumbers. For sauces, the skhug sauce is soooo goood. (You can ask them to put it on the side if you want to test it first.) I only gave 4 stars because they ran out of romaine and pickled onions. The chicken pieces were also more of the scraps today. Normally it's much better. I have been here many times over recent years, and Cava never disappoints! This is a fast casual Chipotle-stale Mediterranean restaurant. When I'm in the mood for something on the healthy side, this is one of my go-to places. I generally get a bowl with half super greens and half brown rice. I am conscious of my carb intake for health reasons; otherwise, I would be all about the saffron basmati rice! If you enjoy and can take spicy, I love their harissa! I generally also get their roasted red pepper hummus and tzatziki. I usually get half chicken and half veggies for my main. If you feel like splurging (and like a little spicy), their harissa honey chicken is yum! I like to get all the veggies and sides on mine, especially the pita chips. They add a nice crunch. For my dressing, I usually mix Greek vinaigrette with lemon herb tahini. After all this, it's a very generous portion, and I usually have enough for two meals. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend you try it out! It's also easy on the wallet. Oh! And don't forget the free mini pita that comes with the bowl. The restauarnt is located off Lake in Pasadena. When you walk in you place your order from one end of the line and pick up and pay from the other end. It's set uo similar to a Chipotle. It was my first time here and a bit overwhelmed with choices. Thought to make things easier and have a better feel of how it works I just ordered off their set menum i tried the lemon chicken bowl and the grilled chicken pita. Even with these choices they show you a lost of ingredients in each item to make sure you are happy with what is included. I also tried their pita chips. Everything tasted delicious. Just for my future visit I may ask for less sauce on items. I also got a beverage. So many choices. I tried the cucumber mint lime. Very refreshing. Staff are nice. Spacious inside. There is plenty of seating in the restauarant or you can take it togo and even sit outside where there are plenty of tables with shade. read more

The food here deserves 5/5 stars!!! So good and I literally crave it all the time. I normally go for the build your own bowl with chicken and falafel. I love that you get up to 3 scoops of dips and unlimited toppings. I've tried most of their dressings and they're all good. Tip: get their crispy pita chips! They're soooo good. It used to be free but now they charge you but it's so worth it because it's perfectly crispy and seasoned. The line goes almost out the door during peak times so I would definitely recommend not coming at that time. -1 star for service because it really is a hit or miss. It is very filling for lunch. I also got hubby a bowl with the braised lamb and falafel, and those proteins were also delicious. The braised lamb was so tender and tasty. The only downside was that it was an extra charge of about $4. I would totally come back to try other bowls. I recommend ordering online and picking it up at the store.
