First of all I LOVE, and I mean LOOOOVVVVEEEEEE Cava. I have been going since I lived on the east coast and was thrilled when I learned we would be getting one here in San Antonio, I was there opening day for this one on Basse Rd. The reason for the lack of stars is the customer service. The staff is really lacking. I went on 12/29/23, I ran in after going to the vet across the street to get a bowl to go. I walked in and the girl at the start of the line looked at me like she was terrified. I said hi!! She said nothing. I said I would like a grains and greens bowl. She still said nothing. She turned around after fetching the greens and stared at me with the same "terrified" look. As if I had horns coming out of my head. I smiled and told her which grain. Which btw, this store has become increasingly stingy with the food. My bowls used to be runneth over but not anymore. She gave me, my grains, still has not said a word to me, then my protein, then the next person asked what toppings. This person, again did not say hi, did not make eye contact, just kept looking at me. By the time I got to the end I was in fact a little annoyed. Had I grown horns? Did I have spinach in my teeth? Scales on my back? The cashier asked if I wanted a drink, still no greeting, but she was the friendliest of the bunch. The first girl didn't even ask if I wanted my free side pita, which I did, but they had to go get it because I was already at the end. Now, I am a middle aged woman. I worked retail for the first part of my life, probably about 15 years of my life in retail and retail mgmt. I understand we live in a digital world, but it's not all digital. Please retrain your employees. I do know your hiring as I saw the sign. I don't expect life stories from them but I do expect pleasantries. I expect a smile. I expect a pulse. This is the closest Cava to me or I would totally go somewhere else. I will not stop going but please work on some things. Customer Service for one. And then the servings of the food. I could barely see any rice in my bowl at all. I am positive it didn't get charged from the employees pocket. God Forbid this was my first time at Cava and I asked questions, would they have spoken to me? Why was she staring at me with utter disgust? I love Cava, and will continue to go because I love the food, but this one needs lots of improvement. The time before this one I put in a to go order, requested Pita, got all the way home and it was missing. Maybe I should go back in retail so I can train todays YOUTH!! read more

I LOVE this place, they get all of my money! I usually get the Harissa Avocado bowl with a couple of replacements or I get the Sweet & Spicy Chicken Pita Wrap and I recently had the Spicy Chicken & Avocado Pita Wrap with of course a couple of replacements. The Pita Chips are also good as well as the beverages. Service has been A1 so far and ordering through the app is super easy! read more

First time coming here,and the young lady in the front was very unprofessional and unkind. I wasn't sure how the ordering process worked and she walked away laughing while a young man took her place. We apologized and decided to go elsewhere. So we decided to pop over to the one on Huebner and the experience there was so much better, they talked me through the whole experience (: Only rating two stars because of the young gentleman who apologized for the lady's behavior. read more

I want to specify that this review is strictly for the Lincoln heights location. I love CAVA and eat there frequently the food is always fresh and the service is usually top notch. However, I understand that each location is franchised and has its own set of policies regarding veteran, senior, and other discounts. As a military veteran I am not a greedy person but I am always thankful when a discount is offered. In this increasingly difficult economy every little bit helps (I clip coupons and use discount cards too). My problem with this particular location lies with the information that was related to me when I inquired about a veteran discount. I was told not only that one was not offered at this location but that someone had been fired for providing a discount to a veteran in the past. In short I will continue to eat at CAVA and enjoy their food but it will not be at this location. read more

Mediterranean Chipotle! This place is a chain that's been growing recently! They serve up salad bowls, and wraps. They're basically the same thing, just with or without a bowl. They offer a bunch of different toppings, which are supposed to be mostly at no additional cost. The salad seems to be where it's at. You can go nuts with the flavors or just go with their recommended styles, which they publish on the menu, but you're not constrained to their suggestions. They also offer falafel, which looks like it sits under a heat lamp most of the day. My favorite thing about CAVA is their drinks station, with so many options other than soda or teas- they've got lavender lemonade, or cucumber mint water- they're all so delicious, I walk out of CAVA more hydrated than full. The staff has always been nice, and the food has been fresh. The restaurant offers lots of outdoor seating, and is well lit. Parking is easy, it's in the Lincoln Heights shopping center facing Broadway. read more

Absolutely love this place and can't rave about it enough! Plenty of healthy options to choose from! I wish they had more locations in town. They always offer a pita bread with their bowl which is a huge plus for me. They have takeout options with DoorDash which is super convenient. My husband and I have been there three times in the past two weeks. The bowls are delicious. If you order online you can see exactly how many calories are in your bowl. Four instead of 5 stars since last time we were there this strange woman at the counter was really stingy with the meat and trying to upcharge for things that had no upcharge at the last 2 visits or if ordered online. So, watch out for her and question it if she tries to do that. read more

Ordered, - A grain bowl with: saffron rice, romaine lettuce, harissa, tzatziki, braised lamb, grilled chicken, tomatos&cucumbers, corn, pita chips, and lemon herb dressing I have been to the CAVA locations in Austin, but I recently visited this location here in San Antonio. Very very very good! I love this place and am so happy San Antonio is starting to launch multiple CAVA locations. CAVA is fast-casual. If you want to order in for the night or meet up with a friend for a quick lunch or dinner, than this is a good place to go. It's healthy, it's filling and so flavorful. I really like the pita over the bowels, their pita bread is fluffy. The spicy lamb meatball is my favorite. It's crunchy and chewy and when you bite into a tomato or pickled onion, it just burst with flavor. I've also had the Sweet and spicy chicken. Do not underestimate the spicy in that one. They have one vegetarian option which is the crispy falafel. I have not tried it yet, but it is on my list. You have to get one of their freshly made drinks. If you had the specially made drinks from Panera or Salata, you will enjoy what CAVA has to offer. I really like the Cucumber Mint, it's as refreshing as refreshing can get. read more

You can take me to Cava any day of the week and I'd be a happy camper. My second visit was to-go during a lunch rush and because it took longer than expected, I was given a complimentary soft drink. I've ordered this several times over the last few months in multiple cities traveling for work. All my coworkers were really happy with it. I didn't usually order from here since you can't get anything without onions or specify toppings on the Uber eats app. But I always get their hummus, and red pepper hummus with those pita chips which are INSANELY good. I got the Romain with saffron rice half and half honey harissa chicken and regular chicken Harrisa is spicy so if you can't handle spices, don't get it then I got the cucumbers, the cucumbers and tomatoes, the pickled onions and then I got the tzatziki sauce and then on the side I got the yogurt dill dressing. Being served course after course and getting to experience so many different dishes made the meal feel really unique and memorable. All of the staff members who waited on us were absolutely fantastic and so understanding of some of our questioning looks while trying unfamiliar foods. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made the experience feel fun and comfortable from start to finish. If you already love Mediterranean food, this place may be right up your alley. Appetizer: Cold Platter This dish included hummus, babaganoush, dolma, ezme, and piyaz. The plater was properly "stacked" with the flavors of the app. going from "punchy" to mild. The piyaz was a perfectly balanced white bean salad packed with Mediterranean flavors. This combination of white beans, tomatoes, onions, and parsley was simple and yet deliciously satisfying! The dolma on this dish was a perfect combination of filling vegetables, grape seeds, Rumex, hornbeam, and quince leaves, with a kick of lemon. The babaganoush was light and refreshing. The simple combination of roasted eggplant, tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and salt is something that is not to be missed if you are looking for a vitamin packed dip. The Ezme "mashed" was made mainly with tomatoes, cucumber, and olive oil and packed a little punch, which most likely was accredited to the peppers. Main: Hot Mixed Platter This dish included meatballs, chicken, beef, and lamb (doner) atop veggies and rice. All the meats on the plate were seasoned to perfection and tender. My guest and I ate the meats so quickly that I am not able to appropriately describe the flavors other than with the a word, "delectable". Dessert: Dessert Platter This platter had a sampling of Tiramisu, čupavci, KÜnefe, and Baklava. Although the čupavci and KÜnefe looked great, I couldn't eat them as they both are made with coconuts (to which I am allergic). I actually took a bite of the KÜnefe before I realized that it had coconut shavings in it. With this dessert, the cheese is arranged between two layers of Kadayıf (shredded phyllo), cooked until golden, and soaked in a sweet syrup. The čupavci (sponge cake) was soaked in chocolate sauce, then dipped in unsweetened, shredded coconut. Fun fact: Čupavci means "furry" because of the fuzzy surface the coconut provides, which I learned when I visited Turkey many years ago. Java Folks who read my reviews know that I am a java junkie. So, of course, I requested the Turkish coffee. Turkish coffee is prepared with more water than its Italian counterparts and is meant to be sipped rather than drunk quickly like a shot. There is also a tradition of reading the grinds at the bottom of the cup to tell fortunes, known as tasseography. Turkish coffee cups are small, similar to the size of an espresso cup, but with a rich history of their own. This coffee is prepared traditionally and provided a much needed pick me up. The ambiance was great, everything from the decorative rugs, Arab writing on the wall, tagine pottery and brass crafts were perfectly displayed. The tabbouleh salad was very tasty, it had the right amount of ingredients making it pretty as well as colorful placed in the neat brass metal bowl. Now with the things that require immediate remedial attention: 1. The burger was overrated, overcooked and dry. 2. The chick pea salad lacked chick peas, dressing, onions and feta cheese. 3. The lamb Kofta plate was prepared right however, it was not enough meat for the price and the cream sauce tasted like straight butter with a hint of garlic. The pita bread was lukewarm and looked like it had been unwrapped, quartered and thrown in a microwave for 30 seconds prior to serving it. 4. Drinks Ordered: The Cafe' Arabia was very tasty BUT, I didn't get it until we were almost done with our meal. We ordered drinks when we were first seated so that was a big red flag. My wife also ordered the Moroccan mint teapot and she didn't get it until after I got my coffee. I told the barista/waiter to cancel it when I got my coffee but he said it was also ready for us and could put it in a to-go cup for her. That kind of defeated the whole experience of drinking tea while waiting for our meal. 5. The service was really slow. Took over 15 minutes to get our (tap) waters and 20 minutes for our food when we were the only ones in the restaurant until we had placed our order. 6. The waitress needs some serious people skills and bussing training to know how to serve food and drinks. She touched the tops of the glasses her fingers. She didn't greet us and practically dropped the plates on the table when she brought them out. To add insult to injury, she put the handheld pay device on the table without asking us if we wanted or needed anything else. My kids wanted to try out some desserts, so luckily for us, the nearby HEB has plenty to offer. I had high hopes for this place because of what the owner posted on Instagram and it is so close to our neighborhood. Guess we will have to continue driving further into the city to other Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern restaurants that have better food and service.
