That bread was like a soft pillow from the Greek Gods. So soft and I was so sad when I finished mine. Hopefully I can save you from making the mistake I made. This place is like a Mediterranean chipotle which stands out from other Mediterranean restaurants. The staff is very informative and answered all my questions. Great selection. Plenty of seating. I had to try this place because I've been seeing so many TikToks that looked so dang good! It did not disappoint. I went to the mission valley one on a rainy day. It was packed! Probably a good sign so I waited hangrily (hungry + angry because I'm so hungry + verb) and it was so good. I got a grain bowl with Saffron Basmati Rice, Tzatziki, Harissa Honey Chicken, Shredded Romaine, Tomato + Onion, Pickled Onions, Fire-Roasted Corn, Persian Cucumber, Crumbled Feta, Kalamata Olives, and Garlic Dressing drizzled on top. It was amazing. I also got the pita chips and they were so good also! Inside the restaurant it was packed so I didn't sit down but it could have been a little cleaner. There was dust on the clear acrylic that divided the patrons with the yummy food. Also, for a few minutes while we were waiting in line it smelled like stale cigarettes but that could've been a maintenance person cleaning outside since the doors weren't shut because the line was out the door. Please make more locations around San Diego! Lots of different choices. I got: Supergreens: good, slightly crunchy Brown rice: good Chicken: well seasoned, good sized pieces. Fire feta sauce: was okay. Onions: made it a little too sweet. Cucumbers: diced, tasted crisp. Sriracha Mayo was good. Wish they had a garlic sauce. The bowl was fairly hefty and I was incredibly full after! Paid $10.45 for the above. Really great value, expect them to raise prices soon as I really think they are underpriced for the area. Given a choice of building either a bowl (salad, grain or combo) or a wrap with all sorts of yummies, be it proteins or fixin's...my personal fav being the spicy lamb meatballs!! Stopped by last Friday for lunch while we charged our car. We had been to the one in Encinitas so was excited one was close to work. SERVICE - Think Chipotle but with Mediterranean food. The person who was helping make our bowl was so friendly. She greeted everyone with the biggest smile and was very upbeat. FOOD Grains + Greens Bowls - My husband and I both got a mixture of grains and greens. The brown rice was well cooked and the super greens were fresh. I got chicken and thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband got a mixture of meatballs and he liked the spicy ones best. They gave you a variety of sauces to choose from and my favorites were the yogurt dill and tzatziki best. Soft opening was a hit! A local from D.C., this CAVA westcoast location met my expectations. The falafel was crispy and the toasted vegetables were brown to perfection. Staff was also nice and did a great job under pressure, with a really long line awaiting for food. I'm just very pleased overall with me CAVA experience. It makes me crave it even more. If I could give a ZERO star I would. I went in today to order two bowls. The staffs that were there were dead beats that hate their lives. The white boy making my bowl LITERALLY GAVE ME DROPS as a scoop. I mean DROPS NOT EVEN HALF. When I had asked for more he said it would be extra and proceeded to give me another drop. Keep in mind their scoopers are already small and he gave me a QUARTER's worth of the scoop not even half. And he did this with everything and i had to repeatedly ask for lil more and get the sane response of paying extra. I don't mind paying but what am I even freaking paying for if its not even a regular normal scoop quantity. And I noticed that my boyfriends bowl and everyone else was getting the regular scoop. I had mention to the staff and ask why I was getting shorten servings in my bowl. The boy replied " they are running low and trying to make it last" so you're telling me that i have to pay extra and get charged for a bowl that isn't even receiving normal company portion standard. It's carlsbad this is ridiculous. I've gone to La Jolla location many times and their service is 10x better than this place. The manager was not even able to be spoken to as they were out of "bags and receipts" so the manager had to go get pick it up at a different location. This just shows lack of responsibility of staff and poor management. But you expect me to pay $50 for 2 bowls and these ridiculous extra charges. And this isn't the first time at this location either. I'm so over it and this needs to be said. I contacted corporate as well. Hopefully, they get new staff with better training and people who actually has customer service etiquette and a manager that is present and KNOWS how to manage a proper team. This spot is quickly becoming one of my favorite fast food chains in San Diego. The flavors of the dips and sauces mix beautifully with the different proteins and toppings. They have super refreshing and tasty drink options such as watermelon mint (my personal favorite) and strawberry citrus. I am left feeling great because its healthy fast food. The place itself is located in the gorgeous One Paseo plaza. Parking is available in the parking structure or via valet. The prices are decent around $8-10 for bowls and less for just the pita. I am very satisfied with everything this place has to offer for the exception of 2 things: The staff can sometimes be very rude and rushed. Other times they are super nice and helpful. The time i came in and they were rude, it was around 4 and no one was in there except for me! The other part that sucks is the amount of protein they give you. FOUR balls of meat or falafel for the entire bowl is not enough in my opinion. And if you get 2 different proteins they split the portions so you end up only getting 2 balls of meat which is ridiculous. When i asked for extra they charged me over $2 so that was a headache. Controversial topic but Cava is one of my fav mediterranean places. Similarly to how people don't think Chipotle is authentic Mexican food, they feel the same way about Cava. But there's something about a build your own bowl that really speaks to my heart. With that, Cava is very similar to Chipotle in that you can build your own bowl or make a pita wrap. I recommend the bowl because the wrap can get a little soggy. I usually go with the grains and greens bowl and get brown rice and splendid and super greens. I appreciate that the workers give a good amount of each even though it's more than one option of each. You get a good amount of options for sauces and toppings but similar to Chipotle, you can get two "meats" or option of a meat and veggies but with the price of the more expensive one. Don't forget to get the free pita bread as well! read more

Not a fan overall. From placing the order online and having it take longer than expected, to the food. I got a bowl that was very heavy on the dressing/cheese and overall lacked any exciting ingredients, kind of just a bland mushy mess. The pita bread was burned, small, hard and salty, not what I'm used to at all. The hummus was honestly the best thing I got. Overall you are much better off going to Panini Kabob Grill which is across the street, I feel that they achieve what this place is trying to do and it's more authentic. read more

I used to love Cava, but I think the quality has gone down recently. They changed their pita a while back, and I don't think it's anywhere near as good as what they used to give. When I order their chicken, it's full of fatty pieces that I don't want to eat. Pretty disappointing! The service could be better, the last time I went the employee helping me told me she would charge me for more rice, which is fine but that was never the case before. When I asked if it was a new policy, she said it had always been that way. I've never been charged for asking for a bit more rice before, so this was news to me. I came here with a friend and it was definitely busy. There was a line out the door and it continued to be busy even after we checked out with our food. They have hand sanitizer in multiple locations and there are distance markers on the floors to show 6 feet distance. Everyone was wearing masks. Once I got up to order, I decided on the lentil avocado bowl without roasted eggplant. I think this is one of their creations you can order instead of going down the line to choose each item. I love the concept here and the variety of options. They have labels on the glass at each station with sauce names or protein names, but I do think these could be displayed better to let people look and choose quicker instead of idling and asking the person on the other side of the glass what each item is at each station...especially when it's busy. This is a minor complaint though. I got my bowl that had falafel as the main protein and a bunch of veggies. I felt the amount of food I got was worth the price that was displayed. The end result wasn't as pretty as the pictures displayed on their menus, but the flavor was all there and more. It was filling and very good. I would come back here in a heartbeat! read more

A friend introduced me to Cava during the summer. Since then I went back to the Mission Valley location another time and then recently to the Carmel Mountain Ranch 3 times recently. I was bringing different people to try it out since I thought it was so good. The food has been great every time. I love the options. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I believe that we are supposed to get a small piece of pita with our bowls but I did have to remind them 2 times and one time I forgot. So maybe we are supposed to ask for it? Or maybe I am wrong. My only complaint is the tables are not always very clean and the last time I went, it was filthy. Not one clean table. I cleaned it myself which I don't mind when it's busy but it wasn't. I have always heard and practiced when I was younger in food service, "if you lean, you clean". They were leaning but no cleaning. My friend and I sat and chatted for quite a while and nothing got cleaned. The trash was also overflowing. It was disappointing and not a great look. But it won't stop me from coming back. read more

Tried Cava for the first time and food was tasty. But "OMG" the number of choices you have to make is overwhelming with a line of people waiting behind me and having never tasted the items. Luckily I selected overall yummy things and next time will just make a few changes (eg spicy lamb meatballs tasted way way too gamey for my liking). I didn't know about ordering online until after I saw lots of people waiting for pickup. Next time I'll do that and avoid the pressure of needing to choose quickly.
