Wanted to come here for a long time. This is located in the really cool hidden One Paseo outdoor mall in Del Mar bordering Carmel Valley. I came during covid time so it is take out only but there is outdoor seating. The two bowls I got were pretty good, but they ran out of avocados when I came at 4pm. That's ok. I added saffron rice in addition to my salad bowls so it costs a little extra. I wanted an extra Tatziki sauce but I got a different sauce instead. Oh well. I will be back but I like my salads and bowls drenched and soaked so I will ask for more sauces. read more

Love their grain bowls! It's a 'build your own' style so similar to a chipotle ordering process except they have Mediterranean/Greek options. They have lots of protein and ingredients to choose from but the signs on the glass describes each item so it makes it easier to choose what you want. This Yelper celebrated the Big 50 yesterday. Prior to this Coronavirus changing our way of life, I had big plans to celebrate my 50 years on this world. I really wanted to do a high school dance party with a DJ, but this virus derailed my plans. Despite not being able to celebrate this golden milestone the way I wanted, I still had an amazing birthday with my baby girl starting it off by treating me for lunch at Cava. Her generosity and the deliciousness of Cava started off my birthday on a positive note. Cava is located in the One Paseo shopping center in the Del Mar area. It can be reached easily heading west or east on the 56 freeway. I believe One Paseo is one of the newer shopping centers in San Diego. It's really a cool and happening place to hang out at. There are several good eateries, retail shops, and of my favorite ice cream shops, Salt & Straw is located here. Cava has got the Coronavirus precautionary measures down with social distancing, hand sanitizer before you order, usage of gloves while serving the food, masks when entering the restaurant, and they even personally fill your fountain drinks for you, which I think is a little overkill. They got plenty of outside seating to enjoy the tasty Cava food. Customer service at Cava is outstanding and I appreciated all of their employees being accommodating and friendly. 4.5 stars all day for Cava, but my only issue was the outside table we sat at was really dirty and we had to wipe the table ourselves. Cleanliness should be a priority. Love the concept of Cava. It is Mediterranean food set up like Chipotle, Subway, or Poke 1 1/2, where you select items to your liking that are placed in a bowl. As you traverse their food line, you get to pick a base in your bowl such as salad or grains, you pick dips and spreads, you pick protein, next is toppings, and finally you choose dressings. These bowls are basically created based on your desires from the choices they have. On the glass partition, there are listings of the choices you can make. For my bowl, I chose half and half of the two rice they offered; then I chose eggplant and red pepper spread, harissa spread, and Tzatziki; next I chose braised lamb and grilled chicken; I selected all of their toppings, which I highly recommend; and finally I selected garlic and spicy dressings. Before I started eating my bowl, I was skeptical about this bowl filling me up. My daughter had effusive praise about Cava, so I wanted to confirm if her hyping it up was legit. It was so legit!!! That bowl filled me up and I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food was. It tasted healthy and it was really satisfying. My bowl creation was just perfect and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. My daughter's positive assessment of Cava was spot on. Although my 50th birthday was not what I had planned, I was truly blessed to have such an amazing day. I did a harissa chicken base with saffron rice and spinach and a smattering of sauces and veggies. I've been wanting to try it for a long time, but there aren't any Bay Area locations, so I was interested in trying one. The lemonade was pretty sweet, but that's better than it being too dilute and I was able to water it down. It was at times hard to hear sometimes, but that could be a personal problem vs. a noisey restaurant. Would def go back again, it's like Mediterranean version of Chipotle essentially. read more

It's just like a classier Chipotle but with different types of food (aka the concept is similar). You work through a line up of items and decide what you want in your bowl, everything is delicious so there is no wrong answer. My preference is the saffron rice, with braised shredded lamb, tzatziki, and a variety of toppings. The flavors are executed well and you feel healthy eating it too. Don't pass up the drinks at this restaurant either, they have some really yummy teas and juices near the soda fountain. Happy eating! read more

Hands down one of the best eateries I have a tried. Very similar to chipotle but this is a ball park for vegetarians and vegans, so highly suggest all my non-meat eaters friends to come check this place out. CAVA is such a cool spot located in One Paseo! They have so many healthy options and their layout reminded me of chipotle. You can create your own bowl, pita, and more. I ordered the grains and greens bowl with the kale blend and white rice! I got half falafel and half meatball for my protein choices. I then got the hummus, harissa, and feta. For my toppings I basically got all the fresh veggies. You can choose from tabouleh, cucumber salad, veggies, and more! I ordered yogurt dill and garlic sauce on the side. The food here is fresh and refreshingly light! I was pleasantly surprised by how good and filling my meal was. I also ordered a drink and tried their jasmine tea and mexi-cane cola. The menu is simple yes. But walking into Cava, I noticed all the fresh ingredients available to make one's bowl. And the price of all the fresh food you get is definitely worth it! Although their were about 5 people in front of me in the cue, the efficiency of the staff making the bowls in front of you helped move things along quickly. This was our second visit to Cava. Our first visit over 1 1/2 years ago was horrible so we thought we would give it another go. Good thing we did. The food was delicious. All 3 of us had different entrees and all 3 of us were very pleased with the freshness of the food and the flavor of the food. I particularly want to point out how wonderful the Spicy Falafel is. I rarely like anyone's falafel but this is outstanding. Will definitely come back for it. The restaurant was relatively clean. The prices are what you expect for the area we were in. I would have given 5 stars but this is my biggest fail for most people, customer service. The staff seemed bored out of their minds when helping you. I get it. I absolutely loved CAVA but the service here was really terrible yesterday. All of the workers gave major attitude and we were just ordering 2 normal bowls. No annoying special requests or a big order because then I'd understand. They were low stocked on items and when items ran out she told me they were out. It was 4pm on a weekend... did they really run out of a bunch of items or did she not want to refill the bins...? We went to grab forks from the fork bin and all their utensils were wiped out. We went to ask the cashier for forks and she gave us major attitude and said it's over there. We told her there were no more left and she huffed and puffed, told us to wait and then refilled it.
