I'm giving 2 stars because the food is unarguably great. My BF and I went into the Cava in Santa Monica on 7/13 at 7:15 pm. The girl on the line was absolutely miserable and looked like she would have rather of been anywhere else in the world than at work. She mumbled (with a mask on ((I don't have a problem with the mask) but you couldn't understand what she was asking you, her face looked upset and irritated, we barely got any food and she refused to hustle along (even though their line was long, she moved at the pace of someone who had 1 person in line). I go to Cava about 2-3x a week and have never had such a bad experience than with this girl and have never received such a small portion! I've been in customer service for 10 years and if you are super nice you can normally turn around a cranky team member's attitude by the time you're at the end of the line but this girl was something else, even with me giving her a super nice attitude hoping to change her day around. My BF and I half contemplated asking for our money back and walking out we were so irked... We will not be returning to the Santa Monica location but we will be going to other Cava's! read more

I love this brand. First time at this location, I was assisted by a very kind man name Quincey, he was pleasant, happy and helpful with a smile. He was patient with my friend who hadn't been there before and didn't know what he wanted. Didn't make us feel rushed at any point. We will cashed out by Daniel (possibly a manager) who was kind to answer questions is ours as to how many locations they had and where. I love Cava, but this is the worst location. They have the rudest staff with such attitudes. First off the female staff was very rude from the beginning. "What do you want" baby spinach and arugula, "romaine and super greens? " I replied "Spinach arugula" she then rolls her eyes and gives me a pinch worth of veggies. And then comes he chicken. She literally got a spoon full took some off the spoon and gave me half a spoon full of chicken. Did the same for the rest of the toppings. I asked for pits and she said were out. Asked another employee. And she checked the warmer at the bottom and pulled them out. They do not care for customer service at all. Save your money go else where. Such a great little spot. We stopped in after a 10 mile run and got ourselves spinachfalafel bowls. I appreciated that the falafels appear to be baked and the portion sizes are extremely huge. Ever asked yourself, "Man, there should be a Mediterranean version of Chipotle." Me neither, but I never realized what I was missing until I walked into Cava. I mean, I picture this is what a cafeteria in a posh, Upper East Side boarding school for kids who live two blocks away looks like. It's bright, modern, clean AND the people who work there are great. I get every single side, and don't get any side eye for it ;) And man, the food here is bomb. Get the side of harissa and the harissa dressing if you like it a little spicy. Ingredients are local and dressings are made in house! For $10, I literally can make three meals out of one of their bowls. A real unicorn in Santa Monica. I love a good salad and this place hit the cover off the ball. My niece had the greens and grains salad, my husband ordered the pita with braised lamb and spicy lamb, both were outstanding. I stayed with a mixed green salad with falafel and chicken. When my sister asked me why it was so special, we decided it was the different dips they offered. Once you choose your type of bowl/pita, then you select three dips. I had babaganush, tzatziki and a harissa happiness of yum! Really bad, I couldn't eat it. The rice tasted like food poisoning. There's a Cava in Costa Mesa that is great, but this one was so bad. The rice was clumpy, tasted like it had been sitting out for 3 days. Had to throw it out after the first bite. The restaurant smelled kind of funny from the start and it was just bad. A surprisingly filling meal, though their menu is a bit confusing. Personally I think their menu board should describe what the various things are. Then below, closer to your options, they should list what you are given as a choice. I saw a lot of people looking up and down, back and forth, slowing the line down considerably. The build your own bowl menu allows to every palate to be satisfied whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, gluten free, or "I see it, I eat it". I got a grains and greens bowl with brown rice and arugula as the base and was impressed by the friendly suggestions on what toppings would pair well together. Food was great however, everything else was a little lacking. I ordered using the app, which worked well and gave me $3 off. When I went to pick up my order, there was no one at the register, but the bags were labeled with names, so I just took mine and left. Very convenient for me, however, definitely could be a problem since basically anyone could have walked in and picked up my order. I glanced in the bag and noticed there weren't any utensils, I did a quick loop around the restaurant but didn't see any, so I just left without them and used my own at home, which wasn't a huge deal, but a minor inconvenience. When I got home I realized my order was... off. There definitely wasn't a side order of pita (which was checked YES the app and listed on the receipt) and I'm pretty sure they forgot the eggplant dip and gave me regular meatballs instead of falafel. Everything tasted great and I don't have any dietary restrictions, so it wasn't a big deal to me, but errors like that could be catastrophic for people with food allergies. Still giving 4 stars because despite not being what I ordered, it tasted amazing. Hoping next time things go a little more smoothly on the customer service end. read more

I usually do half lamb half chicken with the crazy feta and lots of harissa. I get all the toppings possible. You can even get pita on the side. The bowl is HUGE and filling. I can make it into two meals sometimes depending on hunger level. The quality is great. Service is almost always friendly and helpful. Pricing is fair!!!!! One of my favorite places for lunch or dinner. They are also a good place for vegetarians with season vegetables or falafels to choose from. read more

The cost of my meal is not a problem I can afford it. I just want to mix my greens Romain and spinach. I have to say. I really loved my experience with CAVA. I ordered a delicious lamb feta bowl and I saw promoted in their window, and it looked amazing. But the crazy thing is that it was better than I expected. The lamb was seasoned so well, salad was fresh, and the ingredients were so tasty. What I was most impressed was with the customer service. Toni was the one who prepared my meal, and she was patient with me, very kind, and helpful when mentioning my allergies. She was incredible, and is an incredible asset to CAVA.
