Have been here at least 50 times since they have opened. It is a favorite of some of my coworkers. They have always been consistent on food quality, sometimes not so much on service. Today was a happy change of pace in terms of service. They were attentive and friendly, on top of their game. Hot Plate! Service: We sat ourselves, which is usual, while the staff was in back working on something. It was just a minute before we had menus and were able to give our drink order. My buddy and I both ordered off of the lunch menu and were brought chips and salsa to snack on right away. The server was attentive, friendly, and had no problem accommodating a to go order for after the meal. Surprisingly we didn't finish the chips, so no issue in refilling them and we also didn't slurp down our Pepsi, so there was no call for refill there either. The server did visit us to assure the meal was ok and food was on the table within 5-6 minutes of ordering. Food: Is pretty run of the mill in terms of quick serve Mexican style food. I ordered a number 9 lunch special which was a shredded beef enchilada and chili relleno that comes with rice and beans. The enchilada was simple and moderately sized. It had a fair amount of sauce. Likely just the shredded beef inside with cheese on top. Taste was appropriate for what it was. The relleno is a little different than other ones I am used to. I have ordered it multiple times here though and usually enjoy it. Today the chili was a little under done, but the mostly egg coating was great and was stuffed with cheese. The sauce they use is more like a salsa and poured over the top with chunks of tomato and onion in it. I was hungry as usual and was still able to put it all away. Rice is good and fairly dry on a scale from arid to insipid. It has flavor and no off putting qualities. The beans tasted good and were appropriately seasoned... not too much and not too little. The heat lamp put a nice little sear on the top which I surprisingly like. Ambience/Location: Inside is well lit and there are many windows. The view is mostly just parking lot and roadway unfortunately. Inside decor is minimal, which is nice in contrast to some restaurants that way over do it. Orange and yellows on the inside with wood accents. Restrooms are relatively clean with no major issues. All in all I have never had a horrible experience here. I feel like it is just a contrast from my personal taste to the stuff they are putting out that keeps me from anymore stars. My preference to fresh, original, and exciting twists doesn't lend me to giving many stars to a traditional Mexican restaurant common to small towns in America. read more

My go to Mexican restaurant when I'm home visiting family. My favorites are the tostada bowl or the combo plate with tamale, enchilada and taco. We bring the whole family here including young nieces and nephews. The staff is always welcoming and with a smile. It's like your family here. read more

This place is overpriced and the quality is not there. Our food was flavorless and bland. Not quite what I would expect from a Mexican restaurant. We paid $30 for 2 bland burritos. We were in the area looking for good food after hiking the Redwoods. Im visiting from Los Angeles, where Im surrounded by amazing Mexican food. This place did not do it for us. Long black human hair cooked in the cheese: The older waitress was very mean to my wife's elderly parents, who politely quietly let this waitress know we were pulling long black hair out of the melted cheese of a couple of our meals, I personally pulled one out of my mouth. yes it was someones hair. This waitress gave us a plastic smile and replied, "just eat it, and by the way no more chips and salsa for you." Was she punishing us? Overall, nothing was ever done to correct this, we ended up not eating our meals, suspicouse of this places sanitation practices or what else is cook in the food that may be nasty. Perhaps the one in Brookings may be more sanitary with pleasant servers. The Crescent City Cazadores has seemed to have gone down hill from what it was four years ago, shame. I used to love this place, used to be proud we had it in Crescent City. Now we are scratching our heads. read more

It's been a while since my husband and I came to eat at this restaurant and to be honest I probably should of written this review a lot sooner. The service was so slow and their was literally only one other table to take an order from. I ordered the Chili Relleno and it was terrible. The flavor was really bland and the rice and beans seemed to be flavorless as well. Husband was equally unimpressed. Was really unimpressed with the quality of the food. Really over priced as well. We only stopped in for a snack, not a full meal. So I can't really review the food here. The staff was very friendly and the place is clean and comfortable. We ordered guacamole, which was made fresh for us, and a cheese crispi, sort of a quesadilla but open faced and yes, more crispy. Would return and try more of the menu selections. read more

Shrimp ceviche had equal parts tomato and jalapeño...i like hot food but you couldn't even taste the shrimp this dish was loaded with so much jalapeño. Sauces are generally overpowering but food is tasteless without something. read more

My girlfriends enchiladas were ok. But I ordered a Mexican shrimp cocktail should be diced onion tomato cilantro Clamato with lemon. I have never in my life had boiled Mexican shrimp cocktail. Based on the other reviews here, I was expecting a lot more but came away extremely disappointed. I'm sure I've eaten worse tasting Mexican food, but never more generic and tasteless. Generic decor in a very worn out building. Bathrooms had Jail cell bars across the windows. Carpeting was very dirty and worn. And it looks like walls and booth seats were spray painted without anything to protect the carpet, you can see little triangles of paint at the corner of each booth. I love me some chips and salsa at a mexican place. I still remember Mom saying "Six baskets are enough! You're not going to eat your dinner!" But these were the most generic chips and salsa I have ever had, their lack of taste pretty much set the bar for the entire meal. I ordered the verde enchiladas. Instead of a Mexican cheese of any type, there was Mozzarella on everything which left a chewier then normal consistency to every bite. The salsa verde sauce was a little tangy and just slightly sour, possibly on the "should have been thrown out a week ago" side. There was no spice to it at all. Shredded beef inside the enchilada was tough and had no spice either. The salsa verde, weak as it was, actually over powered the taste of the beef, while the corn tortilla everything was wrapped in over powered both. But the real clincher is that tables were very dirty and really needed a good scrubbing. There was a definite layer of caked on grey "grit" on every table I saw - the kind of grit that takes a knife blade and a steel wool pad to properly remove. Unfortunately, if this is the best Mexican spread Crescent City can put on, I feel really bad for locals who are forced to deal with this. A chain from further north like Hacienda La Real or even Acupulco would clean up here. The only good thing I can say about this place is that at least I didn't leave hungry. read more

I travel to Crescent City a few times a year from Santa Cruz and my son and I hit all the Mexican restaurants. THIS RESTAURANT IS THE BEST!!! We have ate at a few other local establishments....but they were mediocre. Cazadores is awesome! The Friendly, courteous staff serve up delicious large portions of authentic Mexican food. As I was leaving, I promised to praise them on Yelp. They truly deserve it. The negative reviews? They must be used to Taco Bell. People that LOVE REAL Mexican food should check this place out! I can't wait to go again. I have had my fair share of Mexican food in the states and also while traveling with my husband in Mexico. This establishment is #1 on my list of all time favorites!! p.s. IF anything was stained....does that make the food taste different. Geez...these are local folks TRYING to make a decent living. The food is probably in the middle ground of Mexican food not great but not bad but tonight my wife placed a to go order over the phone and I was asking some questions and the owner said tell him to shut up I'm too busy and then she asked for a total price of our to go order and the lady said she's too busy to figure it out right now we promptly canceled our order and this will be the last time we ever eat there absolutely no reason to be rude to a customer. Cazadores is surprisingly good Mexican food for being in a small town like Crescent City. My boyfriend and I wandered in about a half hour before they closed, yet they sat us and came by to take our order with a friendly demeanor. The waitress gave us a few menu suggestions when we asked, but both of us got one of the Cazadore specials (only two on the menu with this name). The steak cazadore is a thin T bone, topped with a bunch of mixes grilled vegetables with a side of rice and beans. The other cadazore is a mixture of chicken and shrimp, also with a side of rice and beans. Both dishes had a great flavor, well balanced. The rice and beans were pretty tasty too! Food wise, this is one of the best traditional Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. The service was a bit sparse for the rest of the night after getting our food. I suppose I shouldn't expect much at the end of the day. I guess the lesson is don't expect a lot of service, but enough to get the job done. read more

My reviews start with 5 stars and I take one off for every negative. As you can see there were none. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. We will definitely be back. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and sat. The place it clean. The booths are in good condition and the decoration is your typical American Mexican restaurant style. We were immediately given chips and salsa and our drink order was taken. My wife and I got the combo fajitas for two. It came out in an enormous iron skillet, still sizzling and filled above the top. I hate when you order fajitas and they come out soggy on a plate. These were cooked perfectly. We got the side dish with rice and beans along with the pico and guacamole. The only thing that would have capped the dinner off would have been homemade tortillas. These were obviously store bought but that was ok. They came out hot at least. The dinner was great. Our drinks never got below half full and the prices are very reasonable. Like I said, next time we are up this way we will be back. Thank you read more

Cazadores has always had good food. With the recent change in ownership, there has been some improvements in other areas. They have fixed up the building a little, still could use some TLC - but it does look cleaner inside. You can request a refill without getting the evil eye from the previous owner. The staff seems much happier and friendlier. Wife and I would have gone to Cazadores much more in the past, but one of the owners was just not a friendly person. Know other people who didn't go for the same reason. New owners have kept up the quality coming from the kitchen while making the atmosphere much more pleasant. Been eating here for years and have never had a bad meal. We love the enchiladas, carne asada & tortilla soup. Wait times can sometimes be longish, if they've had a lot of orders to go but we've never waited more than 25 mins for an order to go. It's usually usually always 15-20 mins. Good people, good food. We are lucky they have stayed open so long in Del Norte. Definitely a staple in my household! read more
