Do NOT come here if you want to have a good service experience. I ordered a combo meal and the waiter didn't hear me and got me just the tacos, not the beans and rice. He went crazy on me when I told him that I wanted the rice and beans from the combo meal and NOT any more than the sides, his eyes puffed out and nostrils started flaring when I mentioned that I didn't want to get all of them. I tried to dispute the bill when it came back and the waiter started aggressively arguing with me and told me that I was wrong, that I said I wanted an extra combo meal and not just the tacos. The waiter was the rudest server I've ever met, and wanted to basically argue with me over the bill for minutes while the rest of the waitstaff watched in the background nonchalantly, like this is another normal day for them. I went to sign my bill and the waiter STANDS over me, watching me as I put in the tip, because I am not a confrontational person and if I left the amount that he deserved, he probably would have punched me in the face or something. The happy hour deals are great. The waitress was pretty awesome too. They had nice music and plenty of seating. The food was ok. It's nothing to go shouting off the roof tops about. I ordered a carne asada and got one slice of steak and a bit of onions. The portion was ok but compared to many other Mexican restaurants it was on the light side of things. It was pretty salty and the onions started to burn on the skillet . My little sister ordered the build your own burrito (veggie). She said she really liked it but the portion size of this was huge! She ended up taking it home. I did have a pomegranate frozen margarita. That was delicious! I was definitely disappointed more about the staff than the food, the food was just ok. I was a Tuesday afternoon at 2pm and they were not busy at all. We ordered apps first and the. Main meals 5-7 minutes later. The apps arrived 5 minutes after the main meals and the mushroom caps were down right cold. The burrito I ordered came out as a quesadilla. I was hungry and didn't want to wait any longer for a new meal. The bill came and I was charged for the quesadilla instead of the burrito, only $2 less but my disappointment was just magnified. Cazuela's has changed a lot over the past few years so I think an update is in order. This is still the best salsa I've had at a cbus Mexican restaurant, and I've been to many. However, they have moved slowly more toward catering to the drunken underage crowd. I'm sure that's a financial boon for them, but the place is a bit of a mess at times as a result. I still go here all the time, the food is still solid, service still quick. But they are now doing margarita happy hour and late night happy hour specials, a refill glass night, and several other promotions that just bring in an annoying contingent and keep the place packed and dirty. They also have a burrito challenge now. Numerous people have beaten it, but the deal isn't its size so much as the heat, from what I understand. Still open late, still cheap, just overrun with underage drunken kids. read more

We come for the late night happy hour, and even with tables open, they take 30 minutes to seat us and won't serve us until the minute happy hour ends. They also won't honor the deal when we ask. Cazuela's, in a small storefront just north of campus, has a huge menu, catering to American palates with slightly Mexicanized versions of burgers and chicken parmigiana but, trust me, just go for the Mexican-American classics. The spicy-sweet tamales here are delicious, the chicken enchiladas are rich and homey, tacos bring options of flour or corn tortillas, and the quesadillas-- yes, those I teased a moment ago-- are huge and filled with flavorful sauteed vegetables and mild Mexican cheese. For me, the shining star is the nachos supremos. A half order runs around $4.95 and it's definitely the best dining deal around the campus area. Heaped with beans, queso, lettuce, tomato, ground beef, and chicken, it's rich and hugely filling. Top it with Cazuela's excellent salty, slightly smoky, spicy chorizo-- definitely worth it for the extra dollar. Oh, and the drinks. Cazuela's owners often have great discounts available to students; just check their website for coupons before heading over. They also have wonderful happy hour specials like half price appetizers and are always playing great reggaeton selections. As an Ohio State alumnus, I have only fond memories of Cazuela's, and so obviously this is the place a few college friends and I chose to meet this weekend to catch up. It's still the same simple Mexican dishes with the same delicious margaritas that I remember! They have a huge selection of margarita flavors; I'm partial to the Yazi (kiwi and raspberry... Yum!). The happy hour features specials on the jumbo size, which packs a pretty heavy punch. The chips and salsa are constantly being brought to the table and are fried in house. They're always hot and delicious, and I could just sit and mindlessly put them into my mouth long past the time when I'm full (and trust me, I have!) Service is really the only thing that's hit or miss... A lot of the servers are college students who would rather be drinking the margs than bringing them to your table, but that's to be expected in a college town. Usually, there isn't a problem, but the waitress who was there on Saturday complained the entire time (about how there were 8 of us at a table, she burned her finger, it was hot out, etc.) but she was still very efficient. Been wanting to try this place out and the family and I went. Overall, the place is very festive and the service was good. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. The drinks were also very good. The downfall was the skirt steak. It was very tough and very chewy. Three of us ordered this type of entree and my daughter ordered the chicken fajita. I tried some of the chicken fajita to see if was any better and it was. Overall, I wasn't impressed and doubt I will return any time soon. I can't say I expect anything more. Every day from 2-6pm, and also at night from 10-11pm, it is happy hour. All I gotta say is: Half price appetizers. I love to get the sampler, which is normally $11 but it's $5.50 instead, and you get 7 awesome items. With all you can eat chips and salsa, it's a great deal. You can get a pitcher of margerita and get a free $6 appetizer. ALL DAY. Definitely worth it. Ask for the spicier salsa (they have 3 grades) and it's delicious. Personally, I really like the food, and I've lived in San Diego, home of the best burritos north of the border. Finally, the Mucho Macho burrito - an ultra spicy habanero burrito you have to finish in half an hour (they just added the time limit). Good times but very painful. Ok are the prices and the fast and super friendly service, the food not mindblowing whatsoever. Happy hour daily until 6 pm can't be beat, we got the sampler for $5 which covered all the bases with flautas, chimi, quesadillas and sauced. We also got another chimi like app which wasn't so great, tastewise and quality just isn't there but I imagine after a couple of the super cheap drinks they offer this can pass as descent mexican fare. We also got an enchilada, burrito and house salad so that we get to sample a bit of everything, all that for $20 and we were stuffed! Unfortunatly the only dressing they had was ranch, but they gave me guac and salsa so I was pretty happy with that. Meatwise, we tried the al pastor, made with steak which was the meat, the chicken shredded and boiled not so great, the carnitas very fatty and I just prefer flour over corn tortillas. The sauces also were not very good, but still edible. In all perfect for broke college kids which is what Cazuelas was packed with, meaning not recommened for a quiet family meal, but great to get drunk for cheap and soak it up with greasy fast food. read more

UPDATE: The owner apologized for my terrible experience and gave me a discount the next time I went, which I appreciated. The food was really good and I did not have any problems ordering my usual. I still have PTSD from the bad experience, but I really love going with my friends so I'm not going to let it stop me. We rented the Cazuela's food truck for my daughter's graduation party. They were fantastic! Our guests commented over and over on how much they enjoyed the food. Jessica communicated with me frequently ahead of our event to make sure they were prepared with what we wanted for the menu. This is college food. Only the young without taste opinions or drunk can appreciate it. We started with about a half hour wait. We were willing to wait to sit outside , but from December 21st to January 1st the staff was pretty pushy about having use take an inside table. We ended up next to a loud table of drunk people and were unable to even have a conversation. I did the pick three combo, my food was just okay. Nothing to really rave about my dinner companions didn't like their meals at all and didn't even finish them. One of my party goes went for the Mucho Macho Burrito. Just don't do it unless you are wishing for an agonizing death. He gave it a valiant effort and made it about half way through. Our server was quick to bring the milk and sour cream. Once the challenge was failed I tried a bite. It burns the lips, has no flavor except fire, and worse yet it one of those the builds heat in time. One bite and I was in trouble. After this last order I HAD to leave a review, which is funny given the fact that I absolutely LOVE this restaurant and should have reviewed it sooner. I guess the reason why I didn't review it before is why I'm reviewing it now. ALTHOUGH I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT AND WOULD HAVE given it 5stars, I have to give it 3 because after a year and a half of ordering from this restaurant and getting THE SAME THING( the steak and shrimp) NO MATTER HOW MANY TIME I GET IT AND LEAVE SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS ON MY ORDER BEGGING TO " please put a FAIR amount of rice and beans" (giving that I'm paying $17.99 for it) they NEVER do. The food is delicious but they always act as if their rice and beans is worth it's weight in gold. If you can deal with the small portion and the ignoring of special instructions such as : no jalapeño, fair amount of rice and in my boyfriend's care "add tomatos. I have waiting for a long time to check out the relocated Cazuela's Grill on The Ohio State University campus area. It is very nice for the complementary chips and salsa. Great warm chips. I did the Pick Two combo with Beef Enchilada and Deep Fried Chimichanga with chicken with Mexican Mashed Potatoes and Refried Beans with a Diet Coke. Everything was delicious and was filling and not having dinner that night because I was stuffed to the gills. I will back at the campus location, and will check out the Broad Street Reynoldsburg location and their food truck too. The new space is much bigger on the inside and the outside. Great local non-chain Mexican spot near OSU campus (just north of Lane on High Street at Northwood). Went there for a meal for our son's OSU Parents Weekend along with his roommate and his family when every where else was too packed to get in and had a great meal outside on the patio. And we just went there last weekend again after his graduation! They took great care of our large party, outside on the patio in the sunshine again. :) Margaritas were very good - especially on happy hour special (even on the weekends). Ceviche was delicious. Customer service here is top notch. I ordered takeout during the "lockdown" but mistakenly ordered from the Columbus location when I thought I ordered from the Blacklick location. The person taking orders went above and beyond to have my food delivered to me all the way in Pataskala (a good 35 mins away). I even offered to pay for the food and donate it to someone else and they still insisted on getting my order to me. After all of that, the takeout person also followed up with a phone call to make sure that the food made it to me.
