12/10/25 We JUST had a spectacular time at Cedar Creek Inn in Brea. We loved the casual - non rushed atmosphere with deliciously seasoned food. We sprung a surprise birthday celebration for a friend, showing up with other former work colleagues. So the excitement level was high. Elizabeth, our server, did everything right making sure everyone was happy, keeping the pace with our meals being served in a timely manner, making sure they were perfectly prepared and served hot. We ate fish and chips, salmon, prime rib and New York steak, and the fabulous French onion soup. We are foodies, and picky, so expressed how much we loved the textures, seasonings, quality and generous portions. Dessert included cream brûlée, ice cream, holiday pie, etc... but the best was the bread pudding. Unfortunately, we were having too much fun so forgot to take photos. Sorry. We went recently there for bridal shower and the wait staff was very nice and helpful but unfortunately the food was not as good as it use to be. What was up setting was your bartender. We has several people that don't drink alcohol or were pregnant and we asked if we could order mocktails and the bartender lost his mind with us and snapped back that he doesn't service that!I also asked if I could order a glass of champagne and he told me I had to wait until I was seated at my table! Brea, CA : Valentine's Day so it was a prix fixe menu. We got in without too much groveling considering it was Valentine's Day. But I can give a decent review because I've eaten at the one in San Juan Capistrano many times. Cedar plank salmon: It has a maple glaze, but it's very light, not sickening sweet. It was cooked to perfection just fall apart on the fork tender. The sides are just sides, but they were good & tasty artichoke risotto and haricot verts. Porcini Mushroom Filet Medallions: Nicely presented and good flavor. It just was very rare when ordered medium. Because it was a busy Valentine's Day, we opted to not send that back and just toughed it out like a caveman. Herb crusted halibut: Very delicate piece of fish again cooked perfectly. Very good, but I'm more of a fan of macadamia crusted halibut. I will find a way for them to put that on the menu. The service was exceptional and excellent, despite the crowd. I wish I got her name, but she was very well-versed in wines and had two long braids in her hair, so you'll know who she is. We had a little chat about wines and I always say: I know a lot about wine only if I know more than you. She brought me a sample of Unshackled and yes, I ended up ordering a glass. It was chocolatey, Oaky, dark fruit, red blend by Prisioner. I will seek out a bottle at Total Wine. Past meals I've had and loved: Braised short ribs-absolute delish, Meatloaf (HUGE portion), , Fish and Chips-crispy enough and plenty Chicken Papaya salad-refreshing. Dined with two or three people and we have always have had a great meal with exceptional service at the Cedar Creek Inn. BTW, it's too bad you can't go to the one in San Juan Capistrano anymore and it had the best ambience of all. Took my boyfriend here for his Bday Sat night. I neglected to make reservations but luckily we were able to get seats at the bar. This turned out to be a plus as there was live music in the bar which was so fun. The bartender, who was also our server, was amazing! (I regret not getting his name). Very attentive, personable and funny. All the things you could wish for. We both had the lobster fest option (he had the New York, and I had the Filet Mignon). Getting back to healthier eating so I ordered the brown derby Cobb salad and cannot believe how disappointed I was. It had no flavor! There were tiny little squares of what I assume was turkey but clearly it was processed turkey, tiny little bacon bits, huge chunks of bleu cheese, and avocado with a dressing that literally tasted like nothing. $22 for a large portion of lettuce and disappointment. read more

The staff is all friendly and food and drinks are good, but boy was I disappointed to hear that the waitress Carrie and the white hair guy don't get to sing with Darby anymore. That was so fun!! Summer Fare Lunch Menu $28.00 The seasonal specials menu was well worth it. Friend and I both ordered the same, house salads and orange roughy. For desert we each also had coconut supreme cake and a vanilla ice cream for extra $5.00. The house salad, mixed fresh greens in balsamic vinaigrette with small cuts crispy apple, chopped walnuts and blue cheese crumbles was refreshing! For entrée, my seared orange roughy was so delicious even without almond dill cream sauce, (I had asked to leave it on the side,) chef's mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables paired well. The food is upper scale and their entertainer Darvy Traylor is an artist like no other. Every song he sings he makes his own and he knows 'em all!!! The bar design is a little difficult and could use a redesign so on nights of entertainment building support posts are not in the way. A tri-annual dust cleaning would be prudent and some upholstery padding for skinny bottoms is due. Table tops are a dash sticky from cleaners. Finishes on wood turns waxy and gets soft from the cleaners. Usage of only Vinegar and hot/warm cloths to clean & disinfect will extend the lifetime and is sanitary. (Classics Refinishing & Reupholstery) in Orange [Top Tier quality]) The "early bird" bar menu is awesome and their desserts are top tier along with an amazing staff from kitchen to floor servers! The bartender Genovese is above and beyond.. and everyone loves her and the new bar help addition gets a hardy welcome! My wife, thoroughly enjoys our Wednesday evenings 4-8pm with Darvy!!! His distinct style makes you WANT to tip his "appreciation jar". Being an early music venue here is a plus for a complete Eve of premium food, drink & entertainment for the non-weekend crowd. NOTE: Friends, some of the previous concerns are mine too but management IS charged with the success of this venue. I decided to get a group of friends together for brunch today and to take advantage of another restaurant week! We had reservations for a party of 10 yet were seated for a table set for 12. The waitress was clearly confused and and I explained multiple times what our reservations were for and how many people were actually dining several times. We were not on the same page unfortunately. Service was pretty slow but we didn't say anything since it gave us time to talk. Restaurant week has pre fixe menus and I chose the French Onion soup which was delicious, the cedar plank salmon which was amazing and ended with the coconut cake which was good, but I wouldn't make a special trip to come back specifically for it. Other diners in my party had the angel hair and couldn't finish it since there was no flavor and the chicken was dry. The pot roast was described as overcooked but the gravy being delicious. The side of pickled cabbage (?) was a confusing side and didn't compliment the pot roast. Their toll house pie was room temperature and did not come with ice cream even though the waitress described it like a Piezookie, which is warm with ice cream. She brought out our check soon after the desserts without asking if we wanted more drinks or coffee. Unfortunately my friends were not Impressed with my choice of all the restaurants to brunch at for restaurant week so I was embarrassed. We all work in hospitality and unfortunately no one would recommend this. Also FYI they do add a 3% credit card fee so bring cash if you want to get that waived. read more

Looking for a late dinner, my date got us reservations for cedar creek with open table which was perfect. I've long been a fan of their prime rib so that's my goto order. My date ordered the rack of lamb. Both of us had the garlic mashed potatoes. I had green beans and she ordered spinach for our 2nd sides. As usual cedar creek didn't disappoint. The food was tasty and well prepared. I didn't end up finishing my prime rib so our server carrie took it home for her dogs. Perfect, instead of throwing away the leftovers they're headed to her dogs for their enjoyment. Service is consistently on point at cedar creek. Carrie was great. Kept our drinks fresh and bringing out the food when it was ready. Prices are reasonable for a great meal. We'll definitely be back again. read more

I was not expecting this to be such a noce upscale place !! I visited there and found the ambiance to be great, service was top notch too. I ordered smoked salmon and it was very flavorful, we also ordered a app plate to share - they have a appetizer platyer where you can get multiple apps to taste. I liked it coz you get to taste many things on one plate. They also have a special spring/ summer menu for $40 with 3 course meal. A few people in my b-day party of six ordered their Spring Special and were pleased with it pretty good price at $25 for a main course appetizer and dessert. The fish had a sweet sauce on it... It was very, very noisy at 2 o'clock in the main dining area on the south side, which is good for the restaurant, but not great for conversing with somebody across the table. I ordered a Seafood Parmesan dish (why, Lydia?) but it did not have Parmesan sauce... I just brought it home and will doctor it up. Our service was rushed and ambivalent. Great little spot, but be sure to check your bill. First you are hit with a 3% credit card fee when the bill is dropped without even asking if you are using one. Then there is a gratuity already included without notice. If you don't pay attention too , you might not see it integrated with n, especially when you are still asked for a tip with another 18-20% suggested. We went there for a birthday party and were put in there "party" room. I went to the bar and ordered a beer. I tried to pay for it but was told it had to go through the attendant for the room. I was given the beer to take to my seat. Shortly afterwards the attendant gave me the bill; $10 for the beer, was a fee for the room, tax, 18% gratuity (even though I got ordered it and took it back to my seat). Total $13.36. Paid with a $20 bill. Received change of $6. I was charged 40% over the cost just because I was in their "party" room. Should have sat at bar and ordered a drink. Sit there a little while and pay, then go to the room. I won't be ordering a drink there again. At least the food was good. read more

The first time I ate here was over 20 years ago. The last time I ate here, before tonight, was probably 17 years ago. I always order the rack of lamb and a lemon drop martini. There aren't many restaurants that serve rack of lamb, and it's my favorite dish so I have to get it when I can. I had always considered it an occasion type restaurant, and I haven't had the occasion to go back. Over the past 17 years I'd think about their rack of lamb a few times a year. This year when my parents asked where I'd like to go to dinner for my birthday, Cedar Creek was my first choice. It did not disappoint. I noticed a lot of reviews mentioned slow, or bad service and that was not the case for us tonight. Our server, Monica, was attentive, knowledgeable and personable. We throughly enjoyed having her as our server and she made the dining experience that much better. The restaurant itself is clean and bright. There appeared to be music in the bar area. I need to remember to come back more often than every 17 years. lol. read more

Ordered the Mexican shrimp cocktail which was a joke, shrimp was previously frozen and soft and mushy ended up sending it back. No bread baskets available, very limited choices for their brunch menu. I ordered the oaxacan egg scramble and that was very lackluster, potatoes were unappealing. Will not come back for Easter brunch again. read more

We came in for OC Restaurant Week and had a wonderful time. Our server, Natalie, was a delight. Get the salmon--it is fantastic. We also love the cheese bread and I had a pretty decent Old Fashioned. The kids enjoyed their meals and we enjoyed our three courses... though by dessert time we were pretty stuffed. Cedar creek inn, I wanted to write you to share an unhappy dining experience with Cedar Creek. We have been coming for 20+ years-- 1 to 2 times per year. Usually once during Restaurant Week and once on another weekend of the year. We almost always get the cedar plan salmon. It has always been delicious. This time we tried what was called the flat iron steak from the Restaurant week special for $40.00. I have ordered flat iron steak from many restaurants over many years and it was the first flat iron steak I have ever ate that was not good. In fact, I would tell you it had the properties and taste of a sirloin steak--which is never good enough to order or enjoy at a restaurant. My son was home from for the week and specifically wanted to go to Cedar Creek. When we lived closer to your restaurant it was one of our favorite and most frequented restaurants. We moved to Orange and now only go on occasion. Unfortunately, we were all disappointed Friday night. We all thought the flat iron steak sounded great, but it was not good. Luckly, we did get your server that has been there forever--I'm guessing 20+ years. I forget him name, but he was wonderful as always. We will likely not be back based on Friday's dinner. read more

Came here for some delicious dinner. Cedar Creek Inn is located in Brea (Orange County). It's an upper scale restaurant with decent pricing on which I do like. Not everyone can afford a very expensive meal at an upscale restaurant. Heck, they even have 3 course meal at very reasonable price after 4pm Monday - Thursday. I opted for the Caesar Salad (First Course), Lobster Spaghettini (Main Course), and Triple Layer Chocolate Cake with Ice Cream. And for drink, I got a glass of Lemon Drop. Not too much to say about the salad, but it's good. Lobster Spaghettini.... they use 5oz Australian lobster tail. Lobster has a great taste to it, spaghettini and the sauce was on point. Excellent flavor to it. Triple Layer Chocolate Cake is so tasty and delightful. Heavenly good. $39 for the three course meal I ordered. Not too bad. $15 for a Lemon Drop which btw is delicious. Service here was excellent. Garrett was very helpful. Great guy he is. He made sure my experience here was amazing. I will definitely be back at this restaurant again soon. Our meal was nothing short of amazing! My mom and I went for lunch. Our server Ramon was really kind and attentive, and very funny too. I appreciated that he spaced out the appetizer first then the entrees. For an app we had the portobello stuffed mushroom, that had polenta, Gorgonzola cheese, spinach and a bunch of other deliciousness inside. The sauce, textures and flavors were insane. It was paired with a kale quinoa salad that was slightly sweet and very refreshing. For my entree I had the NY strip steak (cooked med rare) w/ mashed potatoes and veggies. Could not have asked for a more tender or perfectly cooked steak, and the mashed potatoes and veggies were a perfect pairing. I've been here before, and it's always really good but today was especially on point. I also tried my mom's Montecristo sandwich, which is always her go to when she comes here. It's like a delicious turkey and cheese French toast sandwich. Delicious, especially with the side of jam. Prices were really reasonable. Total bill was $83. We'll be back again! This place is bitter sweet for me. I came here few times with my adopted grandparents and earlier in October was the last time I dined here with my grandpa. He passed away shortly after... My grandparents love eating here, especially during their HH. Grandma said they also do a great Thanksgiving dinner here and they are usually booked up super fast. I think all their Thanksgiving dinner meal spots were booked few hours after it was released. On Fridays (and also weekends) they have live music, a nice live band while you dine. They have a great selections on their HH menu, most people come for the HH menu I think, though some of their entrees are pretty good. Had a relatively mediocre dining experience over the weekend at Cedar Creek Inn. Was excited to try something new, but left without desire to return. We were a tiny bit early for our reservation, so we decided to have a drink at the bar since they couldn't seat us yet. The bartender was very nice and in hindsight, we should have just stayed and eaten there. Once seated: - Took a very long while to have our server greet us. - She seemed only half present. - Complimentary garlic cheese bread is delicious! - The lobster spaghettini was dull. Pasta was overcooked. - Prime rib was good, but lacked some salt. - The toll house pie was inedible; like biting into a brick of flour. I'm a long time fan of Wednesday nights at Cedar Creek, not only for the food (the bread pudding is to die for) but for the entertainment. Darvey and John are amazing and the response of the customers supports their popularity. I constantly see diners come to John's table to tell him how much they enjoyed his performance! The recent decision by management to feature Darvey only is like Simon without Garfunkel, Sonny without Cher, and I may have to rethink the frequency of my visits.
