Made my reservations months in advance for Thanksgiving. I was disappointed from start to finish. Most upsetting was the DRY TURKEY. It was so dried out it was crumbling. Next was the tablespoon full of stuffing and gravy. It was horrible, simply ruined our day. I have never found turkey difficult to prepare, and the price charged there should have been ample portions with properly trimmed green beans... Vines still attached. Service was sluggish at best, we sat in a booth on an aisle that was busier than an airport terminal. Mistakes made with cocktails. Just a disappointing experience. I expected much more. We eat at Cedars for lunch every time we come to Foxwoods, though it has been a while with the pandemic. I almost always get the prime rib au jus because it is delicious. Some of the reviews show what it use to be. Good bread and dark rich au jus. Sadly it is not the same. This weekend, 7/16/22, I had the sandwich but the bread was not of good french dip quality and worst, the aus jus was almost a clear tasteless broth. Please bring back the usual Cedars. read more

Pretty mediocre. We had the Tomohawk ribeye, which was extremely overcooked. We ordered it medium rare and it was at least medium well. We went to Cedars for a birthday celebration. To start, the bread that came out was stale and hard as a rock. Our waitress was nice but did take a while with everything. We spent $900 and of the five steaks,only one was par for a good steakhouse. My NY strip was thin and fatty and the rib eyes were also thin and very salty. I usually go to David Burke for my steakhouse needs when I'm at Foxwoods, but this past trip I made a few stops at Cedar's and was pleasantly surprised. They have probably the best lobster roll I've ever had, and it comes with sweet potato fries. The prime rib sandwich was also a perfect meal. Have had a few other dishes that were good, but those two stand out for me. The hostesses are also super cute and friendly, which never hurts. read more

Our visit to Cedars on this occasion was quite disappointing from beginning to end. We were a party of 3 eating lunch on a Friday. On the positive side, the salads were good and the prime rib sandwich was tasty and cooked just right, but it ends there. Soon after starting our salad appetizers we watched someone bring our food out and then turn around when they realized we were still eating apps. The petite filet mignon was tasty, but barely warm and the accompanying fries were cold. It had that dry look of being under a heat lamp for 15 minutes. The prime rib was now over cooked but, was quickly replaced for the medium-rare as ordered. We shared one dessert, the raspberry chocolate cake which was nicely presented, but clearly had been plated a day earlier because it was dry and stale around the outside. We took a couple bites and then left the rest. The waiter, although very nice, was just not good. He didn't check on us, we had to flag him down for whatever we needed like the drink he forgot or to refill the water and he didn't offer us coffee or dessert. When we asked for more water, he ran out and one of the glasses was filled only half way. We thought he was going to return with a fresh jug to finish the job, but he never did. The only time he was "johnny on the spot" was to deliver the bill. We've had great experiences here in the past, but this visit really missed the mark. read more

I had dinner here with friends this week, and I must say the quality of the food and service far surpassed my expectations! Wow! We ordered the specials, which included filet mignon and stuffed jumbo shrimp, a few sides and appetizers. We received huge portion sized meals, with sides generous enough for family-style sharing. Cedars has gone through a process of growing-pain metamorphosis over the 25+ years of its existence. It started out amazing, but in the last decade began to wane in its ability to deliver quality at the level expected for a flagship property at a landmark destination resort. That said, I'm thrilled to see Cedars has finally returned to the level of awesomeness it had in its early days. My guests were seriously "wowed" by literally everything. Thank you, Cedars! I was extremely disappointed by the level of service in the bar area. With how salty the food is, it would have been great to have someone coming by to replenish our water more than once during dinner. The first time we asked for more water was with our appetizers, and the woman said our waiter would be right over as if she was too bothered to grab the water pitcher. The second time we asked was when we got our entrees. They finally brought more water half way through our meal. For a $400 meal and a $70 tip, I honestly would expect far better service. I shouldn't have to contemplate walking over to the bartender to get more drinks. And to whoever reads these reviews from the restaurant- don't apologize. Just focus on getting the simplest things right. With the number of staff running around, this situation is truly unacceptable and inexcusable. read more

Um, I was less than impressed. First - the server said he was going to bring bread... That never happened, even after I asked for it again and he responded "I'm having my minions working on that as we speak". Man - your my server, get my bread yourself! That's fine - but don't say it's going to happen "twice" and then not deliver. Next, $55 for a filet mignon smaller than the size of my palm. Then he paid an extra $10 for a baked potato because it doesn't come with ANY SIDES... $55 Just for the steak smaller than the size of your palm you guys! My father said he enjoyed it - but he didn't even finish his baked potato. I have never witnessed him not finishing a baked potato! So enough said! My mom powered through the Crab cake and Clam Chowder appetizer. They say clam cake but they really mean fried dough balls with tiny pieces of clam scattered about. It was tasty fried dough - not enough clam and definitely not a clam cake. She said the clam chowder was bland. My son got a cheeseburger and steak fries (even though we ordered sweet potato fries). Honestly, I wasn't too mad about that because the steak fries were honestly the best thing we ordered. Very tastey fries - but the burger was not that great. We took that home and it went in the trash along with my sandwich and sweet potato fries. I wish I had ordered the steak fries. I will add more, but my phone is dying. I'll write more later. I'm back! I completely forgot that I needed to come back and finish this until the manager responded. I ordered the Shaved Prime Rib Sandwich and the Tomato and Burrata salad along with the Fruit Fiesta dessert. The Salad was delicious but I was a little concerned about the caviar that was on top because it wasn't listed in the description on the menu. What if I had an allergy? I would have needed to ask for a whole new plate. I just took it off because I have never had it before and prefer not to try fish eggs. The Prime Rib arrived Rare as all heck - I wasn't asked how I wanted my meat prepared and didn't even think to mention it. I grabbed a manager real quick because the server liked to disappear for long periods at a time. The manager handled it quickly for me and I apologized for not even thinking to mention how I wanted it prepared. The manager realized that I didn't have horseradish on my plate and brought some quickly with another sandwich that was well done. I still didn't really enjoy it. The bread was soggy even without the Au Ju. I ate half to be polite to those around me and the manager who took care of my plate. We all ordered dessert. My parents ordered the apple pie dessert and I ordered the Fruit Fiesta with White Chocolate Mousse. They liked their dessert and I would have liked mine but the fruit was not fresh and juicy, it was very dry and stale. The mousse itself had good flavor, though it was not light and fluffy like a mousse should be, it was dry and dense like it had been premade days ago. The almond cookie crust that it came in was really good though! This dessert had lots of promise and I was very disappointed that it fell flat in some areas. This dessert should be made fresh daily if not made to order... I would recommend adding a citrus to the fruit to make it a little juicy. Oh - we had to grab another server to get us spoons to eat the dessert because our server didn't bring any and just walked away for like 5 minutes. We popped in here after being disappointed multiple times at another steak house in the building in our previous visits. This one was special though bc it was for our 5 year anniversary!! I'm not going to lie, I was a little hesitant because people said the portions were small and the service was bad, well it was the complete opposite for us. The portions were definitely not small and the service was spectacular. Appetizers- We got a French onion soup and Caesar salad and they were ginormous ! As our waitress said the soup was the gift that kept on giving Entrees- we both got filet mignon, done medium. His game perfect, mine was well. The waitress agreed right away and not even 5 minutes later I received a perfectly cooked steak. As a side we got the mashed potatoes which were huge as well! We didn't even finish them. This was the first time I've eaten at Cedars. I've been to David Burke's twice and wasn't particularly impressed, so we decided to give this place a try. We were promptly seated and informed that we can take off our masks for the meal. Menus were printed and disposable for those worrying about dining out with COVID-19 going around. The price is a bit steeper than I would normally spend for a nice night out, but wasn't outrageous either. I ordered the rib eye medium rare, and it was cooked a perfect medium rare. They had forewarned me of gristle ahead of time, and they weren't joking, but the side that was next To the gristle was nice and juicy and well seasoned. No need for sauce. As I went further into my piece though, it became progressively drier and less appetizing. Both sides (mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese) were really great, but the Mac and cheese wins. My family ordered the prime rib and I tried a piece, but I'm definitely happier with the rib eye (I felt the prime rib was pretty boring). Our servers were super friendly and professional. Went here last weekend (4/15/11) during my stay at the MGM Foxwoods. The meat display outside the restaurant caught my attention and was the perfect ploy to draw in a carnivore such as myself. For starters...a dozen oysters. Then, the bone-in ribeye....delish! I'm not a dessert eater, so no dessert for me, but this place is very good. The service was good, the food was better. I'm a little bias when it comes to steakhouses. I tend to compare everthing to Capital Grille(Philly). This place holds up...if you here...visit it! The meat display alone may draw you in. Should I be surprised when I tell a waiter we are splitting a steak to have sub-standard service? My waiter was so horrible that we had to get assistance from water- waiter 3 times. Food was delish, thank you Chef, but the waiter gabbing with other tables, I guess spending more $$, and leaving my table to our own means. We called the manager over, he was useless. Note to future visitors; Stay away from clam chowder, food poisoning. We were there almost three hours. Way too long for dinner for 3. This is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. I've been going here for the last 11 years; my dad introduced me the day I turned 21 and stepped into Foxwoods for the first time. A bunch of new restaurants at both Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods kept me away for a few years, but I've been back twice in the last month. A few weeks ago, I came in for an anniversary celebration, and we sat in the lounge. We enjoyed two cheeseburgers, which were cooked perfectly. They came with the choice of steakfries or sweet potato fries, and we each chose one. Prior to the burgers, we enjoyed warm, fresh rolls, with delicious regular churned butter or strawberry flavored butter. The host was exceptional. Not only did he greet us, but he engaged us with friendly conversation and made it very welcoming. The waitress did an equally fantastic job. The total was about $30 for the two of us. I visited a second time today, and sat at the bar. I enjoyed thick clam chowder, a thirst-quenching Captain & Coke, and some Chipolte BBQ Chicken Wings, which were great. The bartender was exceptionally friendly. The total came to $26. This is one of my favorite restaurants, period. They have a lounge and a dining room, very professional and friendly service, and pleasant decor. I highly, highly recommend it. read more

A last minute trip to Foxwoods left us with no reservations for Cedars. Instead we did the waitlist approach. It was an hour wait which was no problem as it allowed just little extra time for some gambling. Just before our table was going to be ready my wife hit a slot jackpot. The time it takes to handle the taxes/paperwork made us miss our time. The folks at Cedars could not have been more accommodating! The restaurant was decorated for the holidays which made the ambiance special! The Holiday Menu was filled with fun choices. Everyone loved their meals and the holiday themed desserts were amazing! The service was impeccable and I can be a tough critic on that at a top notch place like Cedars. I highly recommend a visit there during the holidays even if just to see the awesome decor. read more

The problem is that it sits just a walk down the hallway from David Burke's, which as steakhouses go, overpowers Cedars. They're both super expensive so, if you're going for this price range, DB's is the place to go. I mean no offense towards Cedars. It's just that it faces tough competition within the same set of buildings. And of course, Michael Jordan's Steakhouse - a short drive over at Mohegan Sun - also overshadows Cedar's. Prices are high as to be expected being located in a casino. I ordered Steak Frites (minus the frites substituted for green beans) cooked medium rare. When my meal came up half the steak was medium the other half was well done. The server (Randy) took my meal back without hesitation to be redone. It took about 15 minutes longer to get my meal back, but it was cooked much better. The manager came over to make sure I was satisfied with the recooked steak, but nothing was taken off from our bill Or offered to us as an apology for the disservice which is why I cannot give it a higher rating.
