We have been going to Celadon for many years since we are locals. Sadly, we will not recommend nor return after our last dinner a few days ago. There are so many OTHER restaurants in Napa with both good food AND great service. In the garden area, the noise level was unbearable and wait staff (Figueroa) was neither attentive nor helpful. We had to ask other servers for assistance at least four times since he was more interested in other tables. read more

This has been my go to spot in Napa for 4 years but after tonight I will never return. We had a party of 8 and ordered lots of food and wine, our total with tip was over $1,300. A simple request to split a plate in the kitchen was denied. This was not due to a "Covid" policy, but because the chef refused. I was told it was due to presentation. It's standard in many 5 star restaurants to split a plate for a charge. Here is your presentation when you refuse a simple request like this. You're food is not that great so get over yourself. I'm going to break this down.... I'm giving a rating I never expected to Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Food taste: 4/5. They lost one star because they hard boiled my poached egg that comes on top of the breakfast pot pie. Please see the picture to verify. There was no liquify gooey yoke. Food quality. 2/5. There were three of us who ordered the sausage gravy pot pie. All three of ya within 90 minutes started feeling nauseous. The stomach pains and queasiness remained through dinner. On the positive, as an appetizer the pork belly lettuce cups we're incredible. The pickled vegetables paired nicely with pork belly. My wife ordered the scramble and raved about it being the perfect amount of vegetables for the volume of eggs. Overall this was disappointing. We had multiple wine educators this week rave over the celadon brunch. The restaurant and service backed it up. The taste was amazing.....only to be ill the rest of the day. What a neat place. Their "outdoor" area was well covered to protect you from the sprinkles and cool weather, but we decided to eat indoors. Our group met up for dinner, but some of us weren't super hungry and ordered a couple of salads. The Asian pear salad was the best and we also had the best bread pudding here. Came to celebrate my BIL birthday over Sunday brunch during and although not all restaurants are allowing dine-in during the new COVID regulations they were still able to accommodate for outdoor seating. We had a party of 7 but they had to split us between 2 tables (next to each other) we were okay with that but only inconvenience was being able to share appetizers and desserts. Overall the service was great. The staff was attentive and friendly. They took extra measures as far as taking temp before entering and hand sanitizer were available throughout the restaurant. I was just a little disappointed with the food, but maybe it's because we came for brunch and the options were not as great. I would like to come back again for dinner and would love to sit outside again since it's really a beautiful restaurant. I hope to update this review when I visit again. read more

We had such a nice dinner at Celadon. We had a late reservation but they were able to accommodate us 30 minutes earlier with a phone call. You walk through a canopy of lights surrounded by greenery to check in. They sat us next to a heating lamp facing the beautiful fireplace. All the tables were spaced out perfectly. They have beautiful chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. It is an industrial like feel with elegance. The food was amazing as well as the service. read more

I'm soy & dairy intolerant. Checked the menu before we went & was ready to order when we got there. The server answered all my ? & was super accommodating to make 100% sure that what I ordered fit my needs. We were in a hurry to go see a movie. We sat @5 & were done by 545, plenty of time to make it to our show. They were very aware of our time table & did all they could to make sure we enjoyed our meal but didn't feel rushed. I had the filet, medium rare, with pole beans - so good! Filet was perfect. Beans were a little Al Dente for my preference, but the sauce on them made the crunch delicious. Husband had the special, salmon with prosciutto wrapped asparagus with a cream sauce. Their arching walkway with all the hanging plants and lights was sooo pretty!...I was mesmerized...even the inside was adorable. Slightly old fashioned with a fireplace, a hanging "chandelier" and a wide open ceiling... [FOOD] *Flash Fried Calamari $16-perfectly crisped...slightly sweetened sauce. Share this! *Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna $32-SKIP THIS!!!....very small portions...sad dish in general. One person got this and everyone felt bad for him when we saw it...no way soba noodles and some raw ahi should cost you that much... *Risotto $26-Sooo creamy and simple. I ordered this and I loved it. Perfect blend of asparagus, peas, carrots, parmesan. *Moroccan Braised Lamb Shank $33-um, guys..get this! Another winning restaurant in my book in the heart of Napa. As one of the last restaurant I patronized before the start of the Corona pandemic, I can honestly say that the dinner experience here was, for lack of a better word perfect. Having endured a grueling day of meetings, my colleagues and I decided to enjoy a relaxing dinner before retiring for the evening. Walking into Celadon, I was instantly drawn to the hearth in the middle of the dining room. Seated in a circle, my party was able to enjoy each other's company despite the looming threat that we all knew would come. The warm, cozy, and inviting atmosphere made the whole world and all its troubles disappear, if all but for a brief moment in time. An order of my go-to-drink started the evening on a high note as my Old Fashioned was done exactly the way I hoped it would. Two bottles of wine for the table and an opening salvo of Celadon's pan-roasted mussels was exactly what the doctor ordered. My party certainly gobbled it up as soon as it hit the table and we were by no means shy about that. As for the entrée, I continued with the seafood theme--an order of their petrale sole. This delicate fish was slightly pan-seared and placed on a bed of curried cauliflower puree and dressed with purple cauliflower relish, picholine olives, herbs, and lime. Cutting into it revealed its flaky and juicy nature which could only be topped by the balanced flavors that each bite held. To top off the evening, our table ordered several desserts to share. I was able to try all three: New York cheesecake, crème brule, and meyer lemon pie with chantilly cream. Each of those desserts were decadent, divine, and darn-delicious. From the creaminess of the cheesecake to the custard consistency of the crème brule, and the sweet and tart balance of the meyer lemon pie, there was no other way that the evening could have ended better. But of course I spoke too soon as a glass of nightcap in the form of bourbon rounded out a great meal with coworkers and friends alike. Celadon hit a grand-slam that evening and I look forward to visiting them once again when the world returns back to normal. read more

We had several tastings and a huge lunch at Farmstead (awesome by the way), but our waitress was so poor at her job she kept trying to up sell us to upgrade our dishes (no I don't want to add another piece of shrimp to my app). She also made faces when we said we'd only like 1 main, 1 app and a soup because we were still full. She said something to the effect of "that's it?!?". At least hide your facial expressions and hold your tongue. We ended up with too much food even with our minimal order. She ruined the experience. Definitely can find much better restaurants in downtown Napa...try Torc just up the street for significantly better food and service. read more

Not sure what to say about the rave reviews. Maybe we should've com for dinner. Brunch was a big let down. My son had the eggs Benedict which I he potatoes were soggy and looked and tasted like they've been pre-cooked for awhile. The calamari tried to be Asian and was unsuccessful and too sweet. The shrimp salad was fresh but needed some acid in the dressing. My husband got both specials, tomato soup and braised short rib omelette. Again it sounded better and was just ok. Service, chunk of bread was tossed onto the plate not even warm; Waiter was NOT welcoming, gave NO eye contact at all, only retuned to our table once ... to give us the check Food, halibut was over cooked, lamb was not braised at all - lacked flavor, Pork belly and water melon DO NOT mix - not sure what fusion was happening there. Great for photos and instagram. I definitely stuck a few Instagram photos in. Next service. Service was pleasant. Friendly staff, makes good recommendations. Easy to chat and laugh with. Lastly, food. Unfortunately, food was not the high for me. I enjoyed it. It was good but my dish was a little flat. Appetizers were good. Our champagne was good. My boyfriends steak meal was good but my pork chop wasn't up to par. The pork chop itself was cooked well but the sauce was a bit too salty for me. Because of that, I ended up eating away and around from the sauce. The mash potato was well made, rich and flavorful. I had a lovely but odd birthday dinner at Celadon! 3 friends visited for dinner on a Saturday night (make a reservation!), and it was an interesting evening. We were seated in what felt like a bar table area, while I lusted from afar for the beautiful courtyard seating area we were walked right through, to be seated in this lesser area that only got noisier as the very nearby bar got more and more crowded. That's the last thing I would expect at a fine dining restaurant in wine country, but luckily it only got really unbearable when we were already wrapping up our meal. All the staff were incredibly friendly, zero complaints about the employees. Where I felt a bit let down was the ambience and sadly the food. It was all good! But if you've done your share of fine dining, you know this spot could be better. We ordered 3 appetizers and 3 entrees and shared them all, always a great way to try a new spot and get a real overview of their offerings. The crispy brussels sprouts were good but you can find that on any menu. The pork belly wraps were overloaded with toppings that drowned out the pork flavor. The Moroccan lamb shank was beautiful and tender but pretty lacking in deep flavors. The best thing on that whole table were the Asian sticky ribs, which blew my mind - basically great barbecue at a white tablecloth joint? Wonderful but wacky. And finally dessert was fun as they brought me my slice of lemon meringue pie with a candle in it. Did you see that pic of the meringue? Holy height! It's hard to pinpoint why I wasn't dazzled by Celadon - I just never really relaxed, and I was never overwhelmed by a truly delicious experience. But I feel like if I was there maybe not so close to the holidays and was seated in another area, it would be a whole different experience. And so maybe I'll find out someday. Wow! Booked an anniversary dinner here and was so impressed. Must have told them it was our anniversary when I made the reservation... they had a hand written happy anniversary card waiting on the table, complimentary champagne, and it must have been 5 different people that came by to congratulate us on our anniversary. My iced tea took almost 15 minutes to receive. I asked 3 times for an extra napkin that took forever. Restrooms are inside the restaurant (which we found out later) but the waitress told us to use public restrooms outside. I did not like that! And how would I have known being my first time there? I assumed their bathrooms are outside if that's what I'm told. lol My fried coconut shrimp salad was okay. The dressing was great but my coconut shrimp were very chewy. My friends sticky ribs were delicious. The beet salad and tomato soup was very good. They had a nice selection of red and white wine which was fantastic! The entry ambiance felt tropical as you walk through what seemed like a manicured forest while the inside of the restaurant was elegant as we sat right next to the fireplace. The food was spectacular!!! We started with calamari and salad, both of which was good. The chipotle chili and honey glaze made the calamari a dish to order. Didn't care for the ginger though. The goat cheese, coupled with the fruit gives the Stone Fruit Salad a sweet and savory taste.
