The only thing, and maybe this is just me being picky, was this: I ordered a burger one of the times and instead of french fries as a side they do potato chips. The burger was fantastic though. Stopped here for lunch today and everything was amazing. I got the nana special with mushrooms and was happy to see they were locally sourced wild mushrooms- delicious! My side was the pasta salad and it was dope. My boyfriend got the prosciutto and pepper sandwich which was also scrumptious, his only regret was that he didn't get the pasta salad because it was SO GOOD. Had an amazing dinner here yesterday! The restaurant itself is in an unassuming shopping plaza and doesn't look super impressive from the outside. But, that all changed once we walked inside ! Our appetizer of calamari (with Asian-style sauce and veggies) was outstanding. The breading wasn't overpowering or greasy, and many of the chunks of squid were quite large (but still very tender!). I had the catch of the day (swordfish) as an entree, which was served with creamed corn (which I think would have made anything taste good) and friend polenta. Other entrees at the table (scallop and shrimp picatta; cod with Thai fried rice; fish and chips) were all well received as well. I was pleasantly surprised with how large the menu is, and there are many options for vegetarians. For dessert we ordered the banana-chocolate bread pudding. It came out piping hot with brûléed bananas and vanilla gelato. Amazingly tasty! And definitely enough for 2-3 people to share. Our waiter was very attentive throughout the evening without being overbearing, and everyone we interacted with in the restaurant was very friendly. The wine and beer lists were also very impressive, and I appreciated all the craft beer options (both on draft and in bottles). Can't wait to return! I'm especially interested in trying one of their 5 course farm dinners (hosted once a month). One of my favorite places to go. Everything is always fresh and they have so many unique options. I strongly recommend the Sweet Potato Wontons for an appetizer. I never had a bad meal here. Their monthly farm dinners are great as well. They take local flavors that are in season for that month and create some of the best creative dishes. Presentation is also always on point. The quality of the food and technique used is spot on. The restaurant is not overly fancy and is just a great place to enjoy food and relax. My opinion is they could charge much more for their menu, but surprisingly the food is priced below the actual quality. I would pay much more for what they do. They have great portion size on all their items. I would recommend the Ribs, and I believe it is called the Eggplant tower with cheese ravioli. The Sauce is great. They make an awesome what I would call "Cream Sherry sauce" that accompanies some of their items. I am not ashamed to say that I have licked my plate clean many times. The last thing I would like to say about this place is they do care about your experience. Most times that I have been there the owner/chef comes out personally to check on the patrons. If you want a burger or pizza for the kids you are covered. If you want to go to a place that serves your common favorite foods, your covered and if you want to try dishes that are unique and inspiring then you are covered. I plan on visiting this restaurant for many years to come. One last recommendation...If they are serving duck please try it. We've been here many times since 2009 and booked one party. The food is as local as it gets. Brandon, the owner, supports local farming, dairy & fisheries. He has an eclectic mix and let me give you an idea on how he goes out of his way. I wanted my filet mignon with a Bearnaise sauce instead of the featured sauce. Done. Meat was cooked to perfection. I asked for med-rare but more on the rare side and he nailed it. Our waitress, Marnie, was the best. They've all been good but our most recent was 28 Nov 11. My sig other had the monkfish which was on the specials and raved. The menu is available online & I promise that once you read it you'll be making a trip to Rt. 2 not too far from Yawgoo. I'm in the South Kingstown / Narragansett area and there's plenty to choose from here but Celestial Cafe is always a treat. We didn't have wine or dessert but my pomegranatini was fabulous. While there I received a call from a hungry college student (my son). I brought home a pesto pizza that he devoured for the low cost of $5. Seriously, they out-priced Domino's & we got quality farm fresh ingredients. Love it! read more

At the recommendation of my mother, a frequent visitor, we tried this place for Sunday brunch. Our group had mixed reviews. The menu was pretty extensive. My mother and I opted for pancakes attracted by the "organic" promise. I had the German chocolate chip pancakes and my mother had the Nutty Berry pancakes. The pancakes were so so. A note for sweet breakfast lovers.... This place does NOT serve real maple syrup. Bring your own if you need that. My husband had the Jumbalaya which he thoroughly enjoyed. Decor was quite nice, simple but elegant. The place seemed quite clean. Service though was lacking. Our waiter wasn't particularly attentive. I had to go find him to remind him to give me my latte. Apparently, the machine needed to warn up. This may have been a bad day so we'll give it another try. I like that the create menus around farm produce. Dinner may be more their specialty. read more

We just dined here tonight for New Years Eve and just had the worst service that we have ever had there. As always the food was excellent but unfortunately due to the extremely poor service we will not be returning to anytime soon. It started with my husband ordering a martini and she brought it over and left the shaker on the table. We have never experienced that, every restaurant pours the martini out of the shaker for the customer. Once our food was ordered she delivered the food never asked us if we need something else or more drinks. We never saw her again. Even the manager who came over to finally take our plates away never even asked us how it was. When the server finally came over she asked if we wanted anything else and was told yes if she had come over 15 minutes prior and just ignored the comment and came back with the check. We spent $200 on food and received the worst service I have ever experience and that includes places like MacDonald's. The fact the manager did not even approach us or see how it was going also speaks to very poor management. We were very dissatisfied with both the service and management for allowing this to happen. She was downright rude and never apologized for her lack of attention to our table. I know that NY Eve is busy but the other servers did not seem to have a problem taking care of their tables. read more

I love this place but I don't think I'll ever go back. I love the concept in the fact that their farm to table and they believe in community however when a guest shows up your table you don't turn them away . It's not a concept it is the way you are. Especially when you post a hours and you decide to close an hour early, in front of them. The hostess was about to seat us when kitchen staff informed her they decided to close early. I could see if it was bad weather or some emergency but it's the beginning of summer and I drove from an hour away only to be turned away. When you post hours you should be open and serving until time you close. Yes there may be a day that may be a lose a little bit of money but you won't you lose the customer that you depend upon to pay your bills. Yes a restaurant is about making money but a restaurant is a hospitality Business. This was not very hospitable. read more

First visit here - attended a private event. Brandon & his crew were amazing in all respects. The private room was perfect for the bridal shower- gorgeous interior w plenty of space to mingle. The food was excellent- our menu included fruit cup, two different frittatas, bacon, flapjacks w berry compote & creme anglais. Service was outstanding- attentive without being intrusive. We opted to have our meal served family style - worked very well. As I came into the restaurant, I noticed the breakfast & lunch entrees on the tables- that looked wonderful. Have had lunch here twice and was pleasantly surprised both times. First time was on the RI Yarn Crawl, we went to Eneri's Yarn Shop right next door and Celestial Cafe participated in the event by offering a free appetizer with your lunch. We had the Sweet Potato wontons, very different and very good. I had the Pale Ale Chicken sandwich. a battered in pale ale batter chicken tenderloin wrapped with tomatoes, mozzarella, greens and chipotle aioli served with sweet potato fries, everything was delicious. My friend had the Ham & Swiss with caramelized onions on toast. Prices were very good. Second trip, my friend had the Sweet Potato wontons again, she really liked them. I had the Tomato Pesto Eggplant sandwich wrap, eggplant, spinach, pesto and mozzarella with balsamic, excellent. We shared a dessert Banana Nut Foster Bread Pudding, this was fantastic, glad this friendly comfortable restaurant is not that close, too many of their desserts could be dangerous. read more

The hostess told us she could not seat or serve us because there was another party coming at 12:30.. I do not think it would have taken us two hours to eat lunch. Something's changed. New chef? Different food vendor? No idea what but something is different. Food has not been as good our last two visits and we probably won't try again. Risotto was dry and lacked flavor. Salad has far too much honey and hardly any other dressing. Molten lava cake was cold and had a salty or baking side after taste. Ice cream lacked flavor. All and all a very unsatisfying meal from a place we once loved and praised for its outrageously good food. read more

Thought we would try breakfast again after a not so good experience a year or so ago. We were the first to arrive.The waitress seated us and we ordered coffee .They hadn't made it yet. So we waited and waited. We watched as tables around us(who arrived after us) were served coffee. As the waitress walked by we asked again for coffee.They served yet another table.Others were getting refills! We we finally served coffee 25 minutes after arriving! It's breakfast!! Wouldn't you have coffee brewing before customers arrived? Others had their breakfast before we had our coffee! Again, it's breakfast! I shouldn't have to beg for coffee or refills. Someone should be walking around with a pot refilling empty cups instead of hanging out at the hostess stand! We won't be back. It would have been quicker to run across the parking lot to Dunkin Donuts to get coffee! read more

I went to dinner on a Saturday night with three friends. All the food came quickly. The apps were so delicious. The dinners were so good. We were all grabbing a quick taste from each others' plates. The sauces were amazing. No room for dessert but we ordered two anyways. Wow! All of us woofed them down in minutes. The chef/owner made his rounds asking how the meal was. All the staff were friendly and looked like they truly enjoyed their jobs. What a find! read more

Plain and simple- food was amazing, service was horrible. We made reservations and they did not acknowledge them or have table set up. We waited about 45 from walking in the door until we were served water. The lady that seated us ( I'm assuming owner) was not very pleasant or was our waitress. Our waitress is really what made the experience so poor. She seemed to ignore us, never asked us what we needed and was simply rude. Our steak was way undercooked and when asked to have it cooked longer she was again very rude about it. There was a male waiter who seemed to be way more helpful. Overall whole dinner experience took about 2.5 hour and that was with us ordering and eating fairly quickly. Food was great, high priced, and simply not worth it due to the service. read more

Attention GF diners . . .Celestial Cafe is GF friendly! Before heading out to meet a group of friends I checked the menu on-line for GF options and was skeptical about whether or not I would be able to have a "real" meal. Just as soon as I spoke the GF words I knew I had the world's best GF guardian angel waitress! She took care of me from appetizer to dessert. The group ordered several apps., brie being one of them. While the others munched on the accompanying homemade chips I had my own plate of rice crackers, which by the way, nicely complemented the brie dish. I ordered the Scallop & Shrimp Piccatta, which was incredibly delicious and naturally GF. Know that the Cafe offered to modify MANY meals included in the Daily Specials and Menu to suit my GF needs. I will definitely head back to Celestial Cafe for another palatable GF meal. read more

My wife and I go to Celestial Café every Sunday . We also attend the local farm dinner whenever possible. These are held the first Thursday thru Sunday of every month. . All locally produced ingredients. These are always inventive and delicious. I've been to plenty of restaurants, and this place ranks high. Great selection of bourbon and beers, draft and bottled. Delicious Bloody Marys. Best ribs I've ever had. (I'm 64 years old.) The Oriental Calamari is outstanding. This place even makes kale and brussels sprouts taste delicious. The service is attentive, the prices reasonable. Try this place; you will be repeat customers. Fine dining in a comfortable atmosphere. read more

This is the place that finally made me sign up to post on Yelp...it was that good. Other reviewers are right: from the outside, the location is not terribly impressive. Inside, it's clear that time and care went into making the most of the space with layout and low-key classic decor. There is a nice bar and an expansive drink menu, with everything from wine and beer (including some of the best local brew offerings) to new and classic cocktails. The menu is new American farm to table style, with many ingredients locally sourced, seasonal and fresh. There is an excellent variety offered, including some outstanding vegetarian fare, but the best part of every meal is in the subtle flavor choices the kitchen puts together-everything tastes deliciously well crafted. Highlight of the night was dessert: apple caramel potstickers with a pumpkin whiskey custard sauce that was good enough to drink...definitely worth the drive to check this place out. read more

This place is GREAT! All food is made to order, so if you want it done a certain way, all you have to do is ask. That goes for gluten free, as well, and (I'd assume) other allergies. The Sunday brunch is one of the best I've had. We went today for brunch, which we had never had before (always been for dinner). I got a Louisiana omelet with their pub fries. The omelet had andouille sausage, red peppers, cheddar cheese, chipotle peppers and their chipotle sauce on the side. Perfectly spicy, not burn your face off hot, but close. And I had a GREAT Bloody Mary! I've been there many times for dinner, and I've never been disappointed. The fish n chips are delicious, that's my go-to meal. And the icing on the cake? Most of their food is local! I know a lot of the people who grow food for them.
