I have been going to Theresa for about a year now. I have always been pleased. But WAIT! The last cut she gave me was TRULY INSPIRED! I have wavy hair and have been to several stylist who didn't know quite what to do. One stylist even used the blow dryer on my hair while combing it!!! The results were shocking!! Needless to say, I didn't return to her. Then I went to a friend of a friend. She didn't know how to cut or style my hair. After a cut, I'd even have to restyle even recut my hair!!! I figured I'd have to settle for mediocre hair cuts from now on. Then my stylist left and I gave Theresa a try. I can't say how happy I've been!!! I've never had to restyle or recut my hair when Theresa cuts it!!! This last cut Theresa gave me was ONE OF THE BEST HAIRCUTS IF NOT THE BEST HAIRCUT I'VE EVER HAD!!! I haven't had my hair cut since leaving covina, and thus leaving my awesome downtown covina salon, where my old stylist hector was the only one who had touched these tresses in a few years. however, after i decided to cut my own bangs on the day of a date and botched them(horribly) i figured it was time. So i yelped and found this place, called and was able to make a same day appointment. Theresa was so sweet, and took the time to really cut my hair the way i wanted it. She cut and razored my poor damaged hair, and i havent seen it this shiny and awesome in almost a year. I've never had a regular hair stylist but I will keep on going to Talia at Center Salon. This was the second time she's cut my hair (the first was over a year ago), but it definitely won't be my last! For the past 2 years I've wanted to try having short hair. Not pixie cut short like Hallie Berry but a trendy looking bob. I've had long hair since middle school and the thought of cutting it all off was terrifying. I came into my appointment with Talia not totally committed to the idea of a short hairstyle, ready to wimp out and get my regular layers and side swept bangs. I decided to show her a picture of what I thought I would like and her face lit up with a huge smile. I could see the excitement in her eyes as she was answering all my questions and putting me at ease about such a drastic cut. Talia answered all my questions earnestly and patiently. "Will this work with my thick hair? I need something low maintenance, is this low maintenance? I don't even own a blow dryer! Will this grow out nice? I don't want to have to have to come back a lot to maintain it!" And the list goes on... She took her time to make sure everything was even; she wasn't shy about positioning and repositioning my head to get the best angle. I switched to Center Salon after going to another place in town for a number of months. The previous stylist, while technically fine, made me feel guilty and bad about changing my cut. Charlee, at Center, listened to what I wanted, looked at photos I brought in, and executed it wonderfully. I have been seeing Sharon for a few years now and I cannot sing her praises highly enough! When I was living in Japan and New York City I would wait to have my hair cut until the next time I could see her - that is how much I love her cuts. Not only is Sharon incredibly intuitive at knowing what cut will look best with your look to give you a beautiful new look, but she is an inspiring person to speak to. After a decade of seeing stylists who never actually listen to what you want your hair to look like and ending up with one blown out newscaster/real housewives-esque cut after another, I feel so lucky to have found Sharon. She cuts and styles my hair in ways that really fit me as a person, not some magazine version of what hair should look like. The combination of this high level service, skill, and talent at this price is truly rare. The other stylists at this salon are also incredible - my mom, grandmother and younger sister all go in at the same time for cuts and all leave looking great. Sharon is by far one of the best stylists I have ever gone to. She really listens to what I want and makes suggestions when I'm not too sure. She also tells you what she is doing along the way so you don't freak out when you see lots of hair falling to the floor. My mom and I have been going to Teresa for about 10 years now and would have written a review much sooner, had I realized that Center Salon was on Yelp. Needless to say, I've continued to see her because I'm extremely happy with her services. She moved out of the area a few years ago and I was so bummed and never could find someone that did as good of a job with my hair. I was SO happy when she came back! I feel as though she always does exactly what I ask and makes recommendations when requested. In addition, her prices are very reasonable for what I need (color, highlights, cut) and have remained that way over the years. At this point I'd be afraid to have to trust someone else with my hair and will continue to see her as long as I can. The salon atmosphere is top-notch - comfortable and elegant. Even the magazines are all up to date and there are plenty to be had which is nice while you're waiting for color to set. Sharon who owns this wonderful salon is also my hair dresser and she is phenomenal. She always puts her clients first, and is a great listener - which is much appreciated when you're trying to convey what you want. In addition, Sharon is also a great colorist and educator. She taught me how to obtain the same style on my own! The other stylists are just as friendly and talented. And the reception staff Brian and Susie are just as helpful, kind and considerate. So, I'm not a "selfie" person by any standard but I have to say after I left, the first thing I did was snap a pic and send it to my mom because my hair looked SO GOOD! Center Salon was recommended to me by a friend from work and I called on a whim to see if they had any openings. Teresa fit me in to her schedule and did an amazing job. First, the salon itself is cute and a little hipster with ZERO snottiness! I hate going in places, finding myself paying $200+, and getting treated like you-know-what. So I liked that right away! I opted to just have a haircut (usually I get some sort of highlights but oddly I'm enjoying how dark my hair currently is) and figured with the website listing of $40+ for a women's haircut, I might get out of there for $60 or less. I have longish hair and have never been able to figure out what determines getting charged the + but I always do. I ended up getting charged $40. It was amazing. That has never happened to me in my adult life! The haircut itself is the real reason I'll be going back! I've never been able to explain what I want and I've found bringing pictures less helpful because I can't tell if different celebrities even have the same face shape I have, let alone if they have thick or thin hair. So I end up bringing pretty pictures that maybe aren't a good fit for me. Instead I basically told Teresa, "please cut off at least three inches, but whatever you want to do after that is fine with me! I'm not ready to go super short and need to pull my hair back for work." Teresa cut in some sassy layers, in addition to actually cutting off the requested three inches, blow-dried some curled ends in, and I left and called my boyfriend to tell him we had to go out for lunch because my hair looked so good. I don't know if it works out for people every time to call and get a mystery haircut from a mystery stylist but it worked really well for me! read more

Finally switched out of this salon and I'm SO glad I did. I had been going to Teresa for almost 10 years and I finally had the courage to trust another hair stylist at another salon. I first started going to Teresa when she was at another salon down the street. At the time, I was in high school and she would do my hair for dances as well as the regular maintenance of cut and color. I even went to her for brow waxings. She was amazing at what she did and I was satisfied each time. She was the only one I trusted with my hair because I am one of those girls that when I find something and I am happy with it, I will stick with it. My signature color was always dying the bottom layer a lighter brown than the dark brown that my hair naturally is and that I kept the top layer, along with blonde highlights in the bottom layer. I did anything to the top layer for the simple fact that I would only go back every 6 months to get it touched up. For the way I had her color my hair, she charged me between $55-$70...FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF YEARS. I started to notice that when she moved to Center Salon, she upped her prices by a S#!* ton. Ok, I'm exaggerating, but I was paying nearly DOUBLE than what I was paying before...for the same exact thing!! Granted the rent of her station might've been a little more, but as a hair stylist, isn't it YOUR responsibility and just all around good etiquette to inform your LONG TIME clients of your price increases...and how much and why?!?! I finally decided to change the coloring technique of my hair and just dye the entire bottom layer blonde. After her services, I asked for the price and she tells me $135 (NOT INCLUDING TIP)...WHAT THE FUDGE?!? I had her do something to my hair that was more simple than what I was having her do before...and it ended up costing more. I was put in an awkward situation because my mom became her client shortly after I did and they became pretty close. I continued to go to her (stupid mistake on my part) and I began to notice her prices with me for the same things were never consistent anymore. She originally charged me $15 for a brow wax, and the last few times I went to her for that...she would charge me $15 one day, and then $23 the next, and then $17 the time after that. Needless to say, one of the times, she got wax in my hair and did a pretty crappy job at cleaning it up..that I had to go home and shower..AGAIN. She was never consistent with her prices for coloring my hair either. I was charged $135, $145, $140, $100 all on different occasions, but for the same thing I had her do to my hair each time. She wouldn't even give me a breakdown of why she was charging me so much. Instead, she would always tell me the price in a soft voice and as if she was clueless. My mom doesn't seem to have that problem with her though. She has shoulder length hair and will usually only go to Teresa for a trim and brow wax, but each time she does, she has no complaints. She told me the prices she pays remain consistent, so I can't help but wonder why is it only me that she's doing that to..and not my mom as well. I've learned my lesson and if I experience something like this with a stylist in the future, I will definitely not keep my mouth shut. Fortunately, the new salon I decided to go to is extremely chic, the girls are friendly, and the stylists listen to what you want and give you a breakdown of why they are charging you what they are charging you. read more
