If I could give zero stars I would. I am trying to cancel my service. It has taken over 2 hours and is still not resolved. I have spoken with 3 different agents, all of whom gave me different phone numbers to contact to resolve my issue. None of these numbers worked, and they the current agent told me that they will do anything to keep their customers. I guess by giving the customer other phone numbers that are not useful and keeping them on the phone for hours, making it impossible to cancel is the way they keep their customer base. I was paying my Direct TV bill through CenturyLink billing. When I cancelled CenturyLink in December 2024 I ended up with an overpayment of $190. I have tried for 6 months to get my refund and all they say is wait 30 to 60 days. When I finally decided they had lied to me long enough I filed a complaint with the FCC and they are nearing the end of their 30 days to respond and continue to ignore me. If there was a possibility to give zero stars that's what you would get Centurylink. For 4 1/2 years this has been the only potential internet provider for our home. During that time, they have told us one thing and done another at least 3 times, 2 modems we got from them cropped out, we went around in circles with them with each modem issue as they always initially state that it can't be the modem even without testing it. We complained and complained about the second one (brand new modem) that we purchased constantly going offline. They insisted it wasn't the modem until 2 weeks after the warranty was done then suddenly it was the modem. After much ranting and raving on my part and my husband's part they finally agreed to honor the warranty. Now... on Saturday, apparently there was a major outage. No notification to their customers, no answer at their 24 hour number, just a message to tell us to go to a particular link on their flipping website. The link didn't work, the website isn't optimized for mobile devices so trying to navigate there is like stabbing your self in the eye with a fork. I learned from a neighbor that there was a major outage while would be back up atriums 5:00 PM on Saturday. Well, it's Monday. It came up for a little while yesterday afternoon and it's down again this AM. I sent a note via their Facebook business page (calmer than I am now) to find out what on earth is going on. You know what they said? Wait for it... "Oh, that is frustrating" that's what I got. Tried calling again, cannot speak with a human just a note telling me that the last four of my social us WRONG and that I'm in an area of an outage. Well thank you Centurylink I didn't know that. We have been with Centurylink for over six years and have received nothing but problems. The last two weeks we were completely unable to obtain access to the internet, so we cancelled, or so we thought. When we returned to California we were able to get online (with AT&T) and found out that the company had not only NOT cancelled our service but was billing us for an ADDITIONAL month! We have tried to resolve this with numerous heavily-accented Customer Service representatives without success. Our account is on autopay and they are STILL billing us for service we have not been able to receive! Our recommendation to prospective Centurylink customers is to find a reliable internet source. Current customers should CANCEL AUTOPAY, lest they find themselves UNABLE to cancel when their service turns sour! read more

Most people complain about internet and TV providers. Honestly until now the worst I could say about any previous providers was that they were mediocre. Until NOW. CenturyLink was the worst service I've ever experienced by a broadband provider, and our needs were exceedingly easy to meet. We already have fast broadband from Sparklight but wanted a backup to avoid outages, and also basic phone service as an emergency measure for our son who is special needs. The best speed they could offer on DSL internet for us was only 6Mbps because of our location. Very slow but acceptable as a backup. Getting that up and running was a little messy because the modem they shipped to us apparently "doesn't work on this segment of the network". The repair guy got us working though with a different model. Once the Internet connection was working I called to add the phone service. I was informed that because of HOW I had ordered the Internet service (from their website) I had a "prepaid account" and phone service could NOT be added to it. If I wanted phone I'd have to have a separate account and would end up paying about $30-$40 more per month than if I had a "regular" account. I learned this after my THIRD attempt to speak with them. On the first call the woman spoke with such a soft and tiny voice that I could barely hear her, and on the second call they disconnected the line in the middle of talking to an agent. I had NEVER been informed that I couldn't add phone service and in fact had specifically ASKED about adding phone on two separate calls on previous days! To fix this I would have had to ship the modem back to them and start all over again, re-ordering the services via a phone call. I couldn't believe this and asked for her supervisor, which she would not do. At that point I was DONE with them and cancelled everything. read more

I signed up with CenturyLink in 2012 in Humboldt AZ. For the past year I've used them in Prescott. Once I upgraded to the 12-15 mbps in Humboldt (upgrade was $4 per month), the service was flawless. Download speed was always near the promised 15mbps. In Prescott my download speed is usually just 11; this past week service was terrible with less than 1mbps. Last night the Tampa Bay vs Dallas game had 6 minutes to go when the line went dead. So, today I looked at other services available in Prescott. They all seem worse than Centurylink. There are only two cities in Arizona where they (for a price) provide true high speed service for residences: Phoenix and Tucson. Until the Feds demand high standards for broadband---and for everybody!--the USA will remain having one of the slowest internet structures in the world. When compared with Europe, we are pathetic---plus theirs is cheaper. Prescott has a long way to go. I'll stick with the devil I know. read more

I would have selected a negative 4 stars for CenturyLink; except for the last representative I spoke with deserved all 5 stars. They are the worst company, their customer service is terrible and they continually transfer you from one representative to another to another to another. They ask for the same information each time, and each time they advise they cannot help me with the business billing questions I have, then they transfer me again. And as I was again on hold, waiting for the representative, for business billing to answer so I can resolve questions I have, I was disconnected and had to call back? Yep. . .CenturyLink has gone from bad to worse. . .and they have no interest in improving by the list of bad reviews they have. Finally, I was able to speak with Devion, in Business Billing. Within 2 minutes, my concerns were taken care of, and while on the phone Devion sent me the link I needed to set up auto-pay (which I had set up with another representative on 08/25/2023). I signed up for $45 a month internet several years ago. I was having modem problems so I ordered a new one 1-20-23. I tried cancelling the next day because a family member gave me one. I called them told them to cancel I returned ups on 1-27-23. Per UPS log it was signed for by Joyce on 1-31-23. I was never credited. It took 3 months and countless phone calls for them to finally issue credit and they don't credit your checking account, no you have to keep it on your bill. So for a few months the charge has been correct. Now I pulled July statement up and I was charged $150 for an unreturned modem. WHAT???? Now I have to deal with this all over again. I have bills to pay and need that $150 , unfortunately they won't credit my checking account, which they should, they will just credit the bill and will carry a credit balance for 3 months. I want more than $150 at this point, every time I have to call them takes minutes away from my phone and I have to pay for more. Has caused stress, anger and money. Calling their customer service line is horrible, most of the time you can't understand the person on the other line. This company needs a complete overhaul. Or be closed down. read more

I'm not sure what is going on with the bad service from Centurylink on Sedona. This is a time when we don't have to settle for bad service with other providers available. The call centers are no help and you can not get a return call from a supervisor or manager on request. I called a couple times to negotiate but didn't get anywhere. So I accepted i was going to have a credit impact and have to fight this. Between Cable One and Century Link, Century Link is better, but that's not saying much. I was on the phone for 45 minutes on Sunday attempting to get a mistake I made in inputting my checking account number and paying my bill. At the end of the 45 minutes, I got a message that said they were having trouble, goodbye. I was promised a $50 credit or debit card when I signed up on June 25, it is August 3 and I still haven't received it. Today I called twice in an effort to get someone who could cancel that payment and resubmit it with the correct checking account number. After 15 minutes on hold, I got someone who could do that, but then wanted to charge me $4 for making the payment through him. I told him to GO TO HELL and hung up. Where do I begin. First of all they are not truthful when they say your internet rate will not increase as long as you are a customer. If you move, but keep continuous service with them, they increase your rate to what new customers pay. So Don't Move. Also, they do not,offer cable service in Prescott but they partner with Direct TV. So when I moved Century Link advised me to sign up with Direct TV - which I did. They then charged me $240 for breaking my contract. After many hours of my life I'll never get back, I did get a refund and an apology for that error on their part. read more

At first our internet and phone service was fine. But after 2 years our internet went out during storms. We had to talk to people in India for at least an hour each time. Then it got worse. Every time the wind blew over 5 MPH it went out. Each time we called the center in India, each time it took an hour to go through a list of trouble shooting before they would send someone to a pole a mile away and fix it. Finally at their behest we bought a new modem for $100 bucks, 2 days later the wind blew and no internet. Then our phone started having the same problem. Finally the linemen told us it was their "old equipment". We must have called 20 times over the last 2 years and argued with idiots in India. A month ago we quit Century link for internet and phone. We use a satellite which costs a bit more but works, We got a hot spot instead of a land line and save $30 a month. The linemen are good guys, cheapskate middle management put us through the wringer. This is a general review of CenuryLink. I own a small business in Prescott. I had signed up with CenturyLink for a 3 year contract. Including a Phone landline & internet service, The Internet service was fairly good minus the speed which is very slow compared to Cable One. As far as the Phone service I would get anywhere from 1-10 Telemarketing / Solicitation calls a DAY !!! I signed up for a "No Solicitation" Product that was offered thru CenturyLink. This helped for a while. However while still paying for this service it was all the sudden un- active . They are all about selling you service, & really want to lock you in forever,... If they could. My advice, don't deal with em. Do not sign up for their contracts!!!! Id rather sign up for can and string phone service then to deal with this company again. read more

I had the service for over four years, I moved out of the state this month. I called to stop the service in March. They closed the account. I called and sent a check to pay the final charges. After the account was closed, the accounting department has created a few bills over 80dollors. I have no idea why it is so difficult for the company to figure out to stop billing. I am also confused when I started using the service, I was requested to pay upfront, but when I terminated the service they said the payment was set afterwards. I wonder why they can't bill based on calendar month and day to make it clearly to avoid prepay and pay after. Is this something that consumers should watch and write down? Besides, you can get all different explanations from different representatives. The representative I talked to told me I finished the payment after I sent the check. I have followed her instruction . I'm giving one star because there isn't a negative system, or a button that beats everyone under century links employ into pulp. THREE weeks ago i arranged for my internet to be set up, THREE. Mind you they have a service location less than a MILE from my house that I drive by on a regular basis and every time I see at least one service truck in the same spot. Back to today the tech shows up, hops out and says he's here to hook up my internet and phone. I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR PHONE. In the techs exact words when I tell him I only wanted internet he looks at me straight and says "its the end of the month they probably tried to sneak it in to make quotas". I'm almost red at this point but I've been waiting for internet for THREE WEEKS so that I can send out resumes and look for jobs so I can pay my bills, so I cool down and try to stare at the silver lining in all this. The tech leaves after its all hooked up and not 15 minutes later my modem arrives, coincidence? Probably not. As I follow their set up instructions I only see red lights, not a problem, I'll call tech support. They have to send someone else out tomorrow, keep in mind a tech was just here 20 minutes ago, to check my inside internet lines and charge more money. I don't even have their internet yet and I'm already an aggravated customer, I will boycott this place in every way I can, with every ounce of energy that I have. Be VERY CAREFUL when you are quoted what your monthly rate will be. I was told, multiple times, that the rate I was being quoted and ultimately agreed to was inclusive of all taxes and fees. When my bill ended up being higher, i was told by Century Link that taxes vary and that they could never give me an inclusive flat rate. I explained to the associate that the previous Century Link representative I talked to made a point, repeatedly, of saying that the fee he quoted me was all inclusive. She took no responsibility for his quote, simply said that he couldn't do that and concluded by saying she wouldn't make it right. That's called "bait and switch", as most people realize, but apparently Century Link isn't very well informed on consumer protection policy. read more
