First of all, they open way earlier than King Eggroll and it is always crispy, no matter what time of day you come get it. The prices are better and the filling is just so much better. The only issue I have is that they are closed on Tuesday, which happens to be my favorite day of the week to eat LP. They offer many other items - prepackaged and freshly fried. There are also catering options. No frills no thrills type of establishment and they are always busy. I've never ordered from here before and was requested by my family to buy cha ca since I was making a trip to San Jose. They wanted 10 lbs so I called to see if I had to place an order before hand or if there was a limit per person. I called when they opened and told them I'm coming from out of town and will be at the shop by 2. When I got here, I told them my name for my order and they brought it out in doubled bags. People came in wanting cha ca but they were out for the day. So, I was super glad I called ahead. The cha ca paste was individually wrapped per pound and were frozen. They offered me an insulated bag to keep the frozen paste in but then ended telling me it's $5. Which was fine... I ended buying the ready prepared foods that were on the table. Spring rolls with pork and shrimp, nem nuong, banh beo/banh bot loc plate, fried rice crackers, french bread and cha lua. We tried everything in the car while driving back home. The foods were either too sweet or too salty. The french bread didn't taste very fresh. Banh beo is my favorite but it wasn't good from here. The banh was too wet and their fish sauce was way too sweet. The spring rolls were good but sauce and nem nuong were too salty. The fried rice crackers were a really good snack. We were really disappointed in the cha lua. I bought one with banana leaf wrapped and one with foil wrapped. Neither one were good... Customer service was ok when I walked in... They were nice after I bought $157 worth of food... and even gave me half a baguette for free.... If you buy food here just stick with cha ca. They provided plenty of nuoc cham. The lotus root salad was more pickled carrots and daikon than lotus root. It was just ok. I frequent this egg roll place every couple of months to buy egg rolls. I usually buy 15-20 every visit. The last few times they've been giving me the egg rolls that are in the tray that have been sitting there and it's always soggy and practically falling apart with the wrapper crumbling, and not fresh or in tact as the ones that are newly fried. I am NOT happy about that and will insist on getting the ones in back on my next visit. Still the BEST egg rolls in the South Bay. To me it's still better than the newer trendier net style egg rolls. The filling here is the winner. However these need to be eaten freshly hot or right out of an air fryer if reheating. I find they're not that good if sitting out for sometime like at a party. I prefer Dakao egg rolls for parties since the crunch holds up well (although their filling is not as good). These are Vietnamese egg-rolls which typically have carrot, taro, and wood ear mushrooms as fillings. Chinese (ala King Eggroll) have cabbage and to me makes the egg rolls too wet and soggy (gross). Trust me when I say they're good on their own however if you want you can request sweet & sour sauce.
