This was on our walk to Central Park so of course I had to stop in! The reviews of this place are great so I had high expectations. Cha Cha didn't disappoint! I absolutely loved my matcha lemonade. This is a cute little spot. Love the color scheme of pink and green. And the cute decor. There are a few tables inside should you want to sit and enjoy your bevy. Staff is welcoming and very friendly. Drinks are made fresh and quick. They also have matcha soft serve and sell loose matcha as well as matcha kits and the tools you need to make that perfect matcha tea. read more

Stopped by Cha Cha Matcha for a strawberry matcha. The location right across from Bryant Park is perfect, and the aesthetic inside is Instagram-worthy. The drink was a bit sweeter than I typically go for, but I think that's just the nature of strawberry matcha rather than a knock on how they made it. Great spot to grab a drink! read more

Craving some matcha and happened to be the closest nearby. It's a small store but there is a long table to sit at. They ran out of the strawberry matcha latte so my boyfriend and I opted for the matcha latte. Doesn't come sweetened so paid extra for vanilla syrup. Matcha latte: 5/10 Didn't meet my expectations :( I think I'm spoiled because of California. I could hardly taste the vanilla and the matcha itself was bitter and grassy. At least the color was nice. Matcha croissant: 6/10 The croissant itself was okay but I didn't realize there wasn't any filling in the center. Probably should've gotten the chocolate croissant instead. This is THE place to go when you're craving some good, authentic matcha. This tiny but mighty cafe has a decent sized menu for all the matcha items you are craving. When I got there, the line wasn't bad, by the time my friend came to meet me and we sat down with our drinks, the line was out the door! But the staff were efficient and it moved fast. It's so welcoming and pretty inside and had just enough tables to enjoy your drink for a bit. - Service: Nice, fast, and friendly staff. - Ambiance: Nice and clean store. - Food/Drink: We tried Iced Matcha Latte and Matcha Colada. The latte was pretty decent. It's smooth and not too bitter. Seem like they also offer different kinds of milk if you want to go non-dairy! Matcha Colada has a lot of ingredients in it, so I can barely taste any matcha, but it's still like a nice Piña Colada I'd say. There's a lot of Cha Cha Matcha stores in NY, and I'm surprised that they're not overpriced! Would recommend to anyone who needs a good cup of matcha. read more

DRINKS We ordered their matcha latte and their strawberry matcha. Considering the matcha shortage, both were surprisingly high in matcha content, which we loved. The drinks come unsweetened, so if you would like additional sweetness, simple syrups are available at the side bar by the napkins to add to your drinks. FOOD Soft serve was available for purchase, though we didn't get any this time around. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly! There was quite a line when we arrived, but they went through orders efficiently and accurately. AMBIANCE There are about 3 tables for two inside the store. It can be very cramped inside, especially as people wait for orders, but the line filters through quickly so people are in and out. That being said, this definitely isn't the best place to catch up with a friend or work/study, so I'd leave this as a grab-and-go location. PARKING Paid garages are available nearby, and street parking is available at a limited capacity. read more

Not sure why this place doesn't have 5 stars. Love this place the matcha is always consistent and also their speciality/seasonal drinks always slap. The ube matcha was so fresh and amazing. The ube didn't over power the matcha which I do love because when normally these two end up in the same drink it's normally super sweet. So I loved how they were able to balance it out. I prefer this location rather than the other one by 5th ave because it's such a larger space and the lines not going out the door. Also loved how cute it was inside and you could actually sit and fit in there. read more

The person who served me was very helpful and was quick to make my order. Unfortunately, this strawberry matcha latte was a disappointment. The bitterness was overpowering, making it hard to enjoy the strawberry flavor, and there was little to no balance in flavor. It lacked the smooth, creamy texture that a good matcha latte should have. If you love matcha, you might find this one too harsh. I couldn't even drink it. The storefront is so cute and picture-worthy. I love green and tile. Unfortunately it's really small and not a place to sit down, just an order-and-pick-up kind of place. I got a yuzu matcha lemonade and it was so delicious and refreshing. Matcha flavor can be pretty hidden in a lemonade though. We took some pictures and headed out, and a block down I realized my cup was leaking. Went back in and showed the staff, and they easily replaced the cup for me. Gave the place a second try after reaching out to customer service and being invited back. Unfortunately, I was disappointed and frustrated again. This time I ordered the purple drink. The drink wasn't bad, a little too sweet for my tastes, but it was not even close to a full cup. There are many other shops in the city, so if you're looking to sit and spend time in the cafe -- this specific location is NOT for you. It's set up mostly as a grab and go situation, very limited seating. The matcha had a great depth in flavor, you can taste the strawberry and matcha without the flavors overpowering the other. Conveniently located on fifth Avenue near Bryant Park, right outside the train station. This location is my morning go to before heading into the office. The shop is small, quick and friendly service. The Matcha latte is a little bland, I go for the Matcha chai, which doesn't have an overpowering chai taste $7. The draft matcha I had was tasty but the service was so bad that it soured my entire experience. I understand that being next to bryant park is probably stressful experience because you're dealing with tourists day in and day out. So I'm not expecting stellar service by any means, I just need things to be neutral/get job done. Instead I got rude/I hate my job vibes. I'm not going to go into detail on exactly what happened because I don't wanna dox the employee (I used to work in food service so I know how that goes), but I'd suggest to the manager to retrain/remind your employees not to be rude to customers for no reason. This is one of my favorite go-to places to in NYC! CHA CHA MATCHA!!! tens all across the board! If you know me, you know how much I'm obsessed with this place and their Matcha Lemonade. I've tried it at Starbucks, but it just doesn't hit the same. It's just something about the combination that makes this drink so addicting. You just can't have enough! I know they also have limited-edition menu items; unfortunately I didn't get there in time to try those, but there's always next time. I came on a weekend in December. There was only one person in line in front of me and the service was fast. The store is small and there are 3 small tables inside. I got the matcha latte which was good, but not the best I've ever had. While I was there, other people came in and it did get crowded inside. Most people got their drinks to go, but a line did form to order and to wait for drinks. They have outlets if you need to charge your phone, but they said they did not have wifi. read more

Is it normal to have the bowl of matcha and whisk so close to where customers are giving their order and paying? I felt soo uncomfy that the bowl of matcha and whisk were sitting right next to the tablet. At first, i thought there was a glass or some type of partition but no. The matcha isn't so great, it tasted bitter and just powdery. The pumpkin spice matcha was around $11 and it was not worth it at all, it was spicy and it didn't blend well together. The regular matcha latte with oat milk was below average. They didn't have soy milk, which was a shame. The only positive thing about this store is the decor. The barista initially made our drinks with whole milk instead of oat milk because she misheard us but she remade it after we told her. The music is appalling. It doesn't match the vibe of the cafe at all. We sat for 5 minutes and then left because we couldn't stand it anymore. read more

I'm crazy about matcha! My last visit here I ordered their matcha soft serve and loved it. This time around I came in for their matcha latte. This drink really hit the spot for me on a cool winter morning. It was nice to walk around the city with a hot and rejuvenating cup of matcha (especially in a cute pink cup)! I love their branding here. Everything from the "love you so matcha" napkins to the pink walls is super cute. I especially loved the green powdered heart on my drink. If you're not crazy about matcha, they have a few things that aren't matcha. However, if you are, they have A LOT of things that are matcha too. A very fun stop on the way to something. And I'm from Maryland (Murlyn), I don't mean a sno-ball. I mean that flaky, instantly melting ice carved mechanically using some kind of drill motor with all the torque, off a block the size of a dorm fridge and then topped with syrupy fruits and condensed milk and such. And this wasn't that either, but I now need to find a place for this near me. It was more like regular ice cream at a soft-serve consistency, topped with all the things-- that part was as expected. Hubs & I were thinking of getting two different things but we both wanted the mango madness, and then the checkout person said it was the size of a quart container. So just one then. I wish we got to see it being made up but it was full in there (at 10p, after the theaters let out), and they seated us and gave us a buzzer that went off almost immediately. We almost didn't finish it even between the two of us. Absolutely delicious, just overwhelmingly enormous. It could be a low-grade food challenge to complete it! And with all that fruit, actual mango chunks and a banana, it's practically a healthy snack. Gotta find one of these closer to home!

Along with more traditional drinks, they also have fruit options as well as black sugar jelly (I presume kuromitsu) and a Japanese citrus that's not seen much here, hyuganatsu. Along with the citrus, this place is rather unique as they had three different matcha options in terms of variety. As I tend to prefer teas pure and without add-ons, I ordered the Matcha Americano, which is simply matcha and water. I went with the 12-oz version for $6 + tax and ordered the Hajime, though I would likely get the Fuku No Midori next time based on descriptions online. The matcha was solid and had a mild sweetness and a light earthiness. However, it lacked some of the mouth coating found in very high-quality drinks from Sorate or Setsugekka, while being similar in price. Still, that is comparing to some of the best, and this was still very tasty and a lot better than 90% of the places in the city, being more comparable to Kettl. I wouldn't mind going back and ordering the other matcha varietal to see whether that is a better comparison. Outside of this, I enjoyed my drink, and the staff was friendly. I hope they do well.

I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern.
