Previous Review: I have always ordered from Chaat Cafe via DoorDash. They have always been very sweet but don't know what happened this time. In my order of 2 Pani Puris and 2 Samosas there was only one kids-pretend-play-kitchen-set-toy-size bowl of sweet chutney. So I placed a reorder of missing side items via DoorDash for re-delivery. From my end I just let DoorDash know the sweet chutney was missing. Is it my fault that DoorDash automatically placed an order for two Pani Puris and not the missing sweet chutneys? You should clear that up with DoorDash. Why do you have to be mean to me? Not only were they really rude to me on the phone call they made from our Dasher's phone, they also gave our dasher a hard time and were really rude to him too. I also see that they are in a race for negative attention on yelp to win the title of who has the worst customer service. Some solutions I propose to you guys: If your food is good, which it is, then just charge more money for your Pani Puris for god's sake OR provide more sweet chutney for extra charge. There are so many great Indian options in this area but we always come back to here. Food quality is super consistent and delicious, food is ready fast and I love the daily special veggie that comes with the dinner option. I only wish that some of those daily veg dishes could be added to the permanent menu so we could get more (cauliflower especially). The butter chicken and fish pakora are musts. read more

I have been coming here for 10 yrs on and off and I can tell you with certainty that the management has changed! Also, this was the first time in my life, I had to eat "flat" bhature. It looks all Indian establishments in Dublin are going down inspite of the number of Indians going up significantly. Takeout Tuesday was from Chaat Cafe this week. We ordered the Samosas as our app, chicken tikka masala, the sheek kebab wrap and the lamb biryani. As expected everything was delicious as it always it. However, this was the 1st time we ordered the lamb biryani and it was oh so good! The meat was so tender and the sauce was so flavorful. A small cafe' with what I'd call pretty good tasting Indian food. We really liked the samosa, 2 large curried flavored fillings with potato, peas and fried, $5. It was so good, we ordered a 2nd order to take home and the Jr. Yelpers thought they were very good. The papadum ($1 for 2 large wafers) was also very good. I could sit there all day and eat box loads of this stuff. We shared 2 orders. My only concern is that they didn't drain it well enough and the oil would puddle and pool on some of the corners. They should get one of those taco shell holders to drain the oil before serving it to the customers. Hubby had chicken which arrived with a lot of rice and cucumbers and garlic naan. There was a lot of garlic on the naan and the dough reminded me of a thin crust, puffy pizza. The portions are generous and I'd certainly come back to try their other dishes. Incredibly rude. Last time we came here we had to wait 25 minutes for our food. Thought we would try them once more so this time we thought we would order by phone and then eat it in the restaurant. I had low expectations for this place since Yelp reviews were mixed and a friend didn't recommend it. I was craving indian and it was the only place that sounded good around the shopping area, so I decided I would try it for myself. At this place you will order at the front and then take a number and have a seat. I met up with my friend and my boyfriend here. The service at the counter was good, though my boyfriend accidentally ordered a dinner entre instead of a la carte, but I got to eat all of the fixins with it. I got to try: the paneer bhatura wrap, cholle bhatura, and the butter chicken. Everything tasted pretty darn good and came out to $30. On the side they provide tamarind and mint chutneys. The cholle bhatura was much fluffier then the one I've had over in berkeley but I loved it. I mean its fried dough, who wouldn't? It was a huge portion and came with two pieces. Easy to share. The paneer bhatura wrap was also really yummy. The paneer was covered in this simmer sauce that was buttery and perfectly seasoned. It came with two wraps and a cucumber, it was delicious and I had leftovers for the next day! The butter chicken was also really yummy and creamy. The dinner portion comes with extra veggie saute, dal, naan bread and rice. I thought everything tasted really good. The service was good and the food portions were awesome for the price. Not the best place for well cooked food. It's really oily (which is not new for an Indian restaurant) but it leaves a bad after taste. I'm writing this review at 5 am since I can't get good enough sleep after having food here last night, made me feel worse. The naan we got was also semi cooked with a layer of raw garlic spread like jam. Never repeating this place. On top of that, customer service is really poor. Worst customer service. I was at premium outlets. My girlfriend wanted to eat Indian food. While I am not a big fan of indian food, my girlfriend loves it. We searched on yelp and found this place across the freeway from outlets. There food doesn't tastes so good. It's a self service restaurant, you have to order at register. But nobody greets or even smiles at you when you say hi. After ordering either you forget about getting your food or keep asking them status of your order because it takes more than 30 minutes for them prepare your food. I have never seen such a bad customer service. Everybody there is like they are doing you some favor by giving you your order. I would never come back. read more

The foods okay but the service is pretty bad, I order food take out during lunch from this place at least once a week and have them pack it to go. I have a portion of the meal at the store and take the second half to go. The guy working at register tells me if I order food to go I can't eat it at the restaurant and if I do I have clean up after myself. I don't dirty any plates, utensils or any tables and take the second half with me in the same container. I stopped in on a whim, yesterday. There was a long drive-thru line for Panera, which I thought was for the Chaat Cafe, but it's not! The drive-thru activity deterred me in the past, as I thought that surely the parking in front would also be packed. This time around I took a chance and there was a decent amount of parking available at 12pm. I ordered the typical non-adventurous Chicken Tikka Masala al la carte, which comes with either rice or naan. I ordered it with rice and a side of naan to try both. I would recommend you don't try to upgrade the spice level without first trying the food. I typically eat spicy food or hot sauces like Yucateco Habanero with no issue. Without asking them to kick up the spice, this was spicy enough to be enjoyable without having to blow my nose too many times, aka it was definitely not for the faint hearted. I wouldn't discourage anyone from coming here if they don't like spicy food, as I am sure they can tone down the curry if needed. The rice was buttery and the naan was great. The other dishes being served around me looked wonderful and I look forward to coming back to try other dishes. I am by no means a veggie lover, but many of the vegetarian dishes looked enticing. As for other reviewers' comments about the workers staring at you, I noticed a few quick looks from employees scanning the dining area and I had a few awkward moments of eye contact, but there really isn't anywhere for the workers to look except out into the dining area where I was sitting or directly back into the eyes of the cooks on the other side of the kitchen counter. As someone who was a waitress for a decade, it's important to scan the dining area to ensure your clientele are enjoying their food and don't need service. Personally, I didn't feel uncomfortable with the staff and when I left they were very kind and made hand gestures letting me know that they would clean my plates away for me. Plus, if someone were to stare at me while eating, I would probably stare right back at them with a soul crushing glare, or go up to the counter and say something. I do not mean to diminish others' feelings about their experiences, as I know how being stared out is unnerving, but this was not my experience. To be honest, I was more annoyed with several other diners next to me who were eating with their mouths completely open and making the most grotesque smacking noises... I put in my earbuds and cranked up the volume. What else can you do? I hope to increase the number of stars after my next visit and trying new dishes. read more

Love this cafe and my favorite is the butter chicken with naan, and the salmon wrap. Food tastes fresh, service is quick and friendly as well. I do have a feedback at this time of the pandemic though. I got a few takeouts since the outbreak and noticed, even after last Friday, that none of the staff were wearing masks; having to pay and pick up the food made it difficult to keep 6 feet from each other. I appreciate the social distancing reminder in the store but I would appreciate it even more if masks could be worn as recommended by the CDC; I know I would feel more comfortable continuing to get take out from this wonderful place. Absolutely, unbeatably, DISGUSTING. They've either changed cooks or recipe but this is about as bad as it gets. You might as well grab microwave curry from Costco and add water than eat here. I would not be able to tell the difference between this and Tofu dipped in red water. And somehow they messed up Naan! I honestly have no clue how they got it this bad.
