Once again, Chabert Plumbing answered our needs right away. They remembered us even though it's been 6 months since we called on them and I think they must have a lot of customers. If you go to the company's website, you might be a little intimidated if all you need is help with leaky pipes or toilets. They focus on large jobs on their homepage, and I hesitated before calling them to replace our water heater after the winter storm last February. I am so glad that I called them. They came out and gave us hot water in just a couple of days. Recently we called on them again to fix the drain pipes under our bathroom sink. Completely disappointed. I wanted to believe my fellow Yelpers...and I've been patient trying to hear back from these guys....but what a FAIL. It's been about 4-5 days playing phone tag with the brothers on getting an estimate for a commercial job. 1. Thursday morning I called asked to get an estimate and time and day when they could check out the place. They said they would call to confirm a time on Friday to check. (Never called back on Thursday when they said they would) (First sign of lack of keeping their word) 2.Friday comes along, they pretty much call about 30 minutes before they can come to the place (around 4-5pm) and I'm still in business 10am-7pm (Mon-Sat) and can't just up and go whenever they are free and give me no lead time. 3.Monday 8am (today) they call in the morning to try and get a mutual time to get an estimate (which we agreed after 7pm), and Paul says he will call his brother to see if he is free too and WILL call me back to CONFIRM. I made it clear that I'm working 10am-7pm all day and won't be able to get to the location til about 7:30pm. They called around 7pm, and I'm still at the shop working, since they NEVER called back to let me know that they will be coming by. I called back and let them know that I can make it there in 15 minutes since I have to close up the store and drive. Paul makes a snide comment saying that we agreed to meet at 7pm, and that I agreed upon this. I truly hate it when people try to put words into your mouth, and especially when I was never contacted for any confirmation on time. If I made a mistake on communication on my part I could completely admit to my fault. I have been waiting all day for them to reach me back to confirm if it was going to happen, and even if I agreed to it, I told them it would be 7:30pm at the earliest that I could make it there. He gives me this rude fuss saying that their going to grab food then come back. (So basically, wants me to wait til when they feel like returning?) You think after dealing with them, giving them 4-5 days to get their act straight, and lack of communications? I clearly can't trust them with a commercial job and believe that it's going to come out as they say. read more

Paul just left my house, and I felt compelled to write a review as I was so pleased with his help. If anyone notices the date, which will no doubt go down in infamy as the most ridiculous snow day in Austin history, today was a day where everyone flipped out over the snopocalypse of 2011. As luck would have it, it would be the day my pipe froze and burst. Many offices and all schools were closed. I called Paul in the morning with my problem and he was at my house the same day, in a matter of 10 minutes from the time and called me to say he was on his way. He fixed my pipe problem, insulated the culprit pipe AND even insulated another outdoor spigot without my asking. He explained everything he did and gave me tips to prevent these issues from happening again. He also properly insulated everything so that I shouldn't have these issues again. He was prompt, courteous, and VERY reasonably priced, especially given the circumstances and environmental conditions. The entire job took probably about 30 minutes. I would recommend anyone use Chabert Plumbing! I am certainly going to use him again, should I have anymore emergencies, and am even going to hire him for my kitchen and bath remodels. Not only did he actually show up on time but he was also very affordable and flexible. He understood my situation and that the tenants themselves would not be paying, so he took the liberty of e-mailing me the invoice which I could later mail in. Had a bad water stain in my ceiling. Called Chabert plumbing based on the reviews here on Yelp. They were responsive and came in to do a diagnostic, but they diagnosed the wrong problem! They tested "everything" and found no leak. The cut open a hole in my ceiling for further investigation, and said there's a pipe that was "improperly fixed" before. Personally, I'm very skeptical about these things, because I'm no expert, so someone telling me an old problem from which no water was leaking was the problem made me very unsure. Regardless, we went ahead with their recommendation to fix and replace a pipe. That project cost $400. A couple weeks later, my roommate took a bath, and the ceiling started leaking! We never take baths, so we can see how the problem/leak has been missed for so long. The REAL problem ended up being a broken/disconnected bathtub overflow. HOW CAN A PROFESSIONAL PLUMBER MISS THIS IN A DIAGNOSTIC???! I DO NOT KNOW. I called Paul repeatedly about the "newfound" problem and for referrals to fix the holes they cut. I'm very accommodating, and understood he was busier with a commercial project, but I mean...you didn't fix my problem and I paid you.. Since he was busy, Paul gave me the contact for another plumbing company who came and fixed the issue for another $400. Another hole needed to be cut from a bedroom wall. So..in total. I paid over $1000 (both plumbing jobs plus dry wall patching and retexturing) for a job that should only have cost $600 max. I haven't even gotten to repainting the re-patched walls. I feel gipped even as I write this. read more

I needed a plumber to fix a pressure valve on my hot water heater. I fired up Yelp to find someone that could help me as quickly as possible. I found a review for Chabert that said "of all the people I called these were the only plumbers to call me back" and that iced it for me. I called Chabert, spoke to Paul, and they made an appointment to come out later that afternoon. They fixed my issue in about 15 minutes and the cost was very reasonable. While they were fixing the hot water heater I asked them to take a look at installing a P-trap in my sink. Paul was very honest and said that he would be willing to do the work for me, but it was so easy to do and I'd just be wasting money. He told me what I needed and what I'd do to put it together. I was having problems with my hot water heater and called several highly rated plumbers in my area based on Yelp reviews. Chabert was the only plumber to call me back. They arrived promptly and inspected my hot water heater. They gave me the choice of replacing the element or replacing the entire heater. Given the age of the heater, I decided to replace it. These guys left my house, picked up the parts and arrived at 8:00 am the next morning to replace the heater. They were very pleasant to work with, answered all my questions about tank versus tankless heaters and in the end, left the final decision up to me. Paul returns my call promptly and is out at my house two hours later. Problem is fixed in a jiffy and I'm charged a reasonable price for his trouble. These guys were soooo wonderful. My sewer line collapsed at a rental property of mine, which really interrupted my tenants lives, Paul was out there looking at the situation within an hour of my calling in on Monday morning. He gave me a great price, he kept me & my tenants posted on progress, finished the work within 1.5 days because they worked such a long day the first day & were out there early the next day to finish. After having several "fixed price" estimates and several estimates from less than reputable plumbers, Pete came out, quoted me a price, and had the job done inside of two days! This was spectacular, considering he replaced fully half of my sewer line! Rather than quote me a price to simply repair the break under my home's slab, Pete replaced the line with a new one for less than others quoted just to go in and fix the one spot! I will definitely be calling Pete again (probably sooner than later, I have to get my ice maker plumbed in!) for plumbing issues that are beyond my abilities. I just had Chabert Plumbing replace my main sewer line from the house to the street. This involved digging up a lot of yard and cutting across my driveway and replacing it. They did a very good job and I am satisfied with their work and very pleased with their price. I had three plumbing companies bid on the job. Two where large corporate types and Chabert is a small local plumber. The other two bids were very high in comparison to Chabert. I took a chance on the small local guy and I'm glad I did. The crew was professional and did everything they should have as needed. The project took a little longer than originally estimated, but that was mainly due to weather delays. Don't let Pete's youthful appearance deceive you--he really knows his plumbing. We had a mystery leak in our kitchen ceiling, and no clue where it was coming from. Pete came out the morning after I called him, on time. After some investigation, he found the source of the leak (a hot water pipe with a bad solder joint) and fixed it. He was pleasant, smart, and reasonably priced. I called him on another problem, and, while it wasn't his thing, he directed me to someone who could fix it.
