It's hard to miss this large mint green building with busy drive through when driving near I-10. This is by no means a 4-5 star restaurant (think white table cloths), but the value, food, margaritas, and divey/fast food-y atmosphere are certainly worth checking out. We came here with a group of friends for happy hour around 5-6 PM on a Friday. It was busy, and stayed busy. The line to order food and drinks is slow-moving, so I couldn't give this place a 5 star review. The margaritas are all frozen, and will knock you off your chair if you're not careful. They have a few flavors/choices including top shelf (Jose Cuervo), Jack and Coke, and 1800. We were tempted to order their Giant Burrito, but were warned by the cashier that they are truly enormous. Settled for the 1/2 burritos (chicken and beef fajita), and they were delicious! Tortillas are fluffy and made in house. I was very surprised. Be sure to check out their free hot and cold salsa bar with chips. All are house made and way better than expected. Our favorites were the habanero and creamy cilantro. Bottom line: divey fast food style restaurant with better than expected food, strong margaritas, but slow counter service. read more

How disappointing having lunch here today,but then again it's the first time I had a bad lunch here .The nachos with steak house tasted awful I think it was the beans, the meat and the salsa everything sucked,I even saw a whole plate of hot wings go to waste cause the three girls that ordered it didn't like it. This place was recommended to me by my uncle, who has lived in San Antonio for the past 15 years. Went here for dinner on a Sunday night; it was fairly crowded 6pm, but it didn't get super packed until after that. Gaudy yet eye catching blue paint on the outside, eclectic vibe on the inside, overall casual sit down dining. Sign outside said it was voted best (I am assuming by SA Current?) for margaritas and nachos, so that's what I ordered. Between my uncle and my manpanion and myself, we shared a 1/2 plate of Monster Kong Nachos and still has two boxes of leftovers. When my younger brother came here with my uncle and his two friends, he ordered TWO plates of these along with other food...don't do that unless you want seven take home boxes. Description from the online menu: "Huge variety of nachos on one platter - bean & cheese, picadillo beef, shredded chicken, chicken & carbon (mesquite) beef fajitas nachos, served w/queso, guacamole & sour cream. Extra charges for substitutions." So much cheese it was delicious. The 1/4 platter is $13.99 and the $1/2 platter is $20.99. For this big ass plate of cheese and chips and meat (and freshly made chunky guac), I'd say it was a reasonable price. There's also a condiment bar which included a spicy mango salsa, red salsa, and green salsa, among others. Almost regretted getting the margarita because I was getting full very quickly. Although I was skeptical because it appeared to come from a machine that dispenses slushies, it was a delicious 12oz. Frozen Strawberry Margarita (note: there was also Jack and Coke in frozen slushie form too). The tequila was strong but not too overpowering the strawberry. Went here for a late lunch/early dinner on 10/11/14. I had a picadillo gordita. The picadillo was completely unseasoned - not even salt and pepper. How they can call that picadillos is beyond me. The masa was equally flavorless. The only savior - The guacamole and some hot sauce. I also had the norteño taco - It was fair. The ones I've had in the past at the Chacho's on Bandera were far superior. The guacamole was very good. The Enchiladas my GF got were acceptable, but then not too many places in South Central Texas screw up enchiladas. So why one star? The place was in need of a good cleaning. The salsa bar looked like a war zone. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. The floor was filthy, and the tables looked like they hadn't been wiped down in a month. I'm by no means an "Ew! There's a smudge on my fork. I'll never eat here again" person. I've eaten at some dirty places in my life (Panama, Jamaica, Honduras, the tiny gems deep in the west side of SA, etc.). I expect a hell of a lot more out of an established brand-name restaurant in San Antonio. Prior to yesterday, I hadn't been to a Chacho's for years. Came here for the cheap margaritas! Had a jack and coke margarita and a strawberry margarita. When ordered you also get free chips and salsa! Jack and coke margarita was pretty good. Not a strong taste of jack. Strawberry margarita was sweet, delicious, and I easily finished this. read more

After we had a team outing to see me and a fellow coworker attempt the Four Horseman Burger at Chunky's..one of the attendees told me about the King Kong Nachos here. So it was decided that after work we would come here specifically for the Nacho Monstrosity. I was NOT disappointed. The nachos were 2x the size of my head and loaded with LAYERED goodness. Most normal nachos, everything is on top and I personally hate that. The one star is for what I feel is the epic fail of their Carne Guisada tacos. My Partner placed a to go on 7.20.20. In a city that has a strong taco culture, these were the 2nd worst tacos I've ever had. They were too salty to eat, the meat was tough and with few bites I took, I had a mouthful of chewy fat. These are overpriced @ $3.99. I've been to this location many times over the years with co-workers, friends and the Chicken Fajitas and Margaritas have always been great. Love this restaurant! I didn't even know that there's one in San Antonio. I've been going to the ones in Houston with my husband when we lived in Houston then We moved to Austin. Didn't expect there will be one close by. I decided to go to the one in San Antonio for my birthday, drove through and ordered mine then my friends wanted to order theirs but they refused to accept my friends' orders (they wrote their orders on their phone because we are all deaf and we were in the same car). They said we would have to drive around and order theirs. It doesn't makes sense while other big names fast food such as McDonalds and Starbucks let us (deaf people) order our food through drive through with no problem. While as this restaurant isn't familiar with deaf customers and was giving us a hard time, they almost refused our service. Left with an icky feeling. :( read more

We were the only ones in line at the register and we see at least 4 Chacho's employees pass us by without even saying "we'll be right with you". We waited close to 5 minutes then we just decided to leave. I am so surprised at the lack of service. Went here last night for some late night chips and beer. I think the prices were higher than other places I could have gone... Bud light was 2.50. Went here for the first time tonight and I was pretty impressed! My group got there around 9:30 pm and it was packed. We had about 10 people in our group and it was so hard to find a table to fit all of us but one of the staff members took the time to help us find some tables and clean them off for us, which was super nice! Most of us got a margarita and I could definitely feel it after one. You can't go wrong with cheap and delicious drinks! There is a reason this place has been around this long. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and couldn't finish. Also ordered the medium nachos with beef and the plate was piled high. My wife had the tacos, ordered two but the lady only wrote down one. That was enough for her. Free chips and salsa which we shouldn't have got since we ordered the nachos. Our bill was $23. Fair price I think. If you're hungry then come here. It's the Mexican Denny's. You know what you're getting and you won't go away hungry. I wouldn't mind going back but not for awhile. Thought it was gonna be good with how crowded they were and how long we waited in line to order: First bad sign, the entire place was a mess, everything was sticky and the menus were so dirty. I wanted to leave but my boyfriend insisted they were better than they looked. We ordered medium nachos and gordita plate, paying the extra for the "steakhouse" beef fajita because it was explained that it is a thicker, juicer cut of meat. The busers/food runners were awesome and worked their butts off while navigating the crowd, got to watch them for a while when waiting for our food. However, they obviously need more staff since nothing remained stocked and the store was such a mess. Portion size was good. The gordita plate was decent but the marked up fajita meat was not that juicy and a bit chewy. The nachos are a big stack of thick cut tortilla chips with meat, beans and melted shredded cheese only on the top, no distribution throughout so you're left with a stack of chips. For delivery drivers, they do not take into consideration your time and will not let you place more than one order. I understand the one order per car as a customer but we basically are working for them and to not even offer an option is ridiculous. As a customer ordering delivery from them, you will be waiting for an hour plus for your food... and again THEY DO NOT CARE!!! If I were management I would re-evaluate the delivery driver system. We just had the worst drive thru service! We ordered beef fajita tacos then an employee came out & asked if we ordered the premium steak tacos. We told him no.. that we just wanted the original beef fajita tacos. The employee said that they already made them & they didn't want to make the original beef fajita tacos for us. We also had ordered Picadillo nachos. So we just agreed to take the premium steak tacos. Oh my...Chacho's! Woo... can be dangerous!! They're open 24 hours a day, serve amazing and huge margaritas which let me say, with just one, you're already having "fun"... lol Now... their tacos... the tacos are just something else! For some time I was just SO hooked on their breakfast tacos!!! Egg, bean and cheese... portions are more than generous for the price so for me, eating more than one was a challenge, but they're so good, that just one will tempt you to eat 2 more. Tried their Kong Nachos and that was an experience. Granted it is not something I'd order again because they're like crack and possibly near ten thousand calories? Lol.... let me elaborate! Ordered them to go, and they came in a huge to-go lunch foam dish with the top, but not the regular size, it's a larger version of. They divide the dish in quadrants and you can select what ingredients or namely meats you want. Their refreíd beans were just sooo flavorful, but beware, I believe they're made with lard.. (likely explains why they're so tasty?)
