Exactly right, the difference is little to none. This is not just some thrown together bar to be gaffed at-this is an experience. Never overly crowded, top tier food for fair wages, quality drinks and flawless service, Chadwicks is my favorite pub on the potomac. Ive come here for not one but TWO NYE celebrations. The experience? Beyond satisfying, even for a cerebral, educated charlatan such as myself. I truly cannot stress the pure content I feel after arriving back home at 9:45 on a Saturday night spent at Chadwicks (an unfortunate reality due to my partners inability to party-hardy). I had brunch here. I had the chicken with French toast and it was really delicious . I also had their ginger beer, I thought it was too sweet so I wouldn't get it again. Apparently it is homemade. We sat outside, it was really hot that day but they do have umbrellas that you can sit underneath. It was a Sunday and it does take some time to find parking. Our server was very sweet and attentive. I stopped by Chadwicks on a rainy day in Alexandria for lunch. It's located close to the pier so I'd definitely recommend chowing down on some seafood. I ended up parking in a paid parking lot right across the street. Once you walk in, Chadwick's is a large restaurant as it has two levels. I was greeted by a hostess who was eight years old so that has to be a first. She was probably the owner's daughter or the daughter of someone who worked there. She even brought me to my seat and took my order. Pretty funny. I went with the crab cake sandwich with sweet potato fries. The portion size wasn't huge but the food was good. Service was a little slow but all-around, it's a pretty good restaurant. read more

Visited last weekend and I usually love this spot, but this visit wasn't great. We just ordered wings and fries. It was 6 wings for $14 which I felt was a little expensive. Also, the wings were barely sauced and missing that buffalo flavor. The plate of fries cost $4 and usually, if I'm ordering a plate of fries at a bar, it's a large serving, but this was just a small side plate. I came here with one of my friends a little over a week ago and it's a great restaurant. We went on a Sunday during their brunch hours (I believe ends at 3:30pm). I was shocked to see that the brunch hours lasted that long, so this is great for those who want more time for brunch and do not want to be rushed due to a time limit. The environment gives casual attire which is great for getting your grub on although you may see some people wearing more dressy-casual attire (e.g., nice top with some jeans and boots possibly). They had an extensive menu that varied from brunch items to lunch/dinner items. My friend and I ordered the chicken egg rolls, crab dip, pancakes and sausage, and a chicken pasta dish (I do not remember the name off the top of my head right now, but what I do know is that it was DELICIOUS). The chicken egg rolls were spicy and a little too spicy to be honest. We each enjoyed the first bite of the egg rolls, but that did not last very long since the spiciness kicked in rather quickly. It was honestly overbearing. However, if you like spicy...this dish is for you! The crab dip and the rest of our food was also very good. I will say that I wished the syrup was thicker because the pancakes absorbed it very quickly. It was almost like a napkin smacking up water. Other than the syrup, it tasted like your standard stack of pancakes and sausages (there were three pancakes and two sausages). Overall thoughts: We enjoyed ourselves and the food was good. Love the interior, workers and food! The place had an amazing rustic vibe and the food was amazing. The pricing is about equal to what you order because the portions are large. I had the cajun chicken pasta and nachos and they were absolutely amazing. Only minor issue I had with the pasta was that the sauce was really watery, but it was delicious nonetheless. Cool little place in Alexandria. Stopped in for a Saturday brunch. Very cool decor. Brickwork inside very interesting. We were sat immediately. Brunch menu was pretty extensive. Brunch anyone? Who doesn't love a delicious brunch that's offered on Saturday and Sunday? I grabbed a few of my chicas and we decided to do a little brunchin' in Old Town Alexandria on a Saturday. Since Chadwick's doesn't take reservations for parties under 5, I just winged it. No biggie, because I was able to walk in and be seated immediately. Quick note, a parking lot is adjacent from the restaurant. It charges $10 for all day parking. Back to the restaurant, the decor was giving me a warm English Pub kind of vibe. Loud, welcoming, and vibrant...all while playing Sam Cooke on the speakers. A real laid back atmosphere that included an upstairs and downstairs bar. Since you mentioned bar (wink-wink) the mimosas are $4 or you can buy a bottle of champagne for $14 and O.J. for $4. Your choice, but we just opted to get it by the glass so we can try other drinks on the menu. They offer a very substantial alcoholic beverage menu. Thumbs up on that! The service was spot on. Our server answered any questions we had and was there to assist us throughout our stay. We ordered appetizers, brunch items, and dessert. All of the food we ordered were delicious, plentiful, and we enjoyed the variety offered on the menu. I wasn't too impressed with the Blue Crap Dip we ordered as an appetizer...too fishy for my taste. A really terrific option for brunch outside of going to DC. Stopped in here for a quick lunch, and it did not disappoint. We walked in and was quickly greeted by a very tall friendly host. He sat us quickly. We chose to sit outside because I'm not yet comfortable dining inside with a lot of people during Covid-19. It was cold, cloudy and misty outside, but I was cool with it because I was in the company of my best friend,my husband. The host wiped down the wet table and chairs and we sat, the server came out quickly and got our drink, and much orders at the same time. My husband and I started to converse, and then our drinks came. Very soon after our food came. I was completely impressed by how fast it came out. The food was hot, and delicious, I ate everything, no leftovers for this girl, my husband said his French toast was delicious as well. The French fries are bomb!! I can't wait to come back. A bonus was the bathroom was clean. I don't like that there are only blow dryers, and not paper towels for your hands but I will give them a pass. This is my first review sense Covid-19 swept the country. The first restaurant I've physically eaten at since February! Came here for Sunday brunch and enjoyed a Eggs Chesapeake, which is an eggs Benedict with a crab cake. My meal was delicious; however I was a little disappointed in the side of the crab cake, it was more of a thin crab ball. I also tried my fiancé's pancakes which were delicious as I typically don't like pancakes--these were thick and cakey. The service wasn't great ... but I am understanding that Phase 2 just started and many places are adjusting to having outdoor seating who've never had it before! read more

This was my first time at Chadwick's - one of my first outings during this COVID "new normal." Nowadays I've been weary of eating out, and so naturally, I was a little nervous. Luckily, there were multiple practices in place to promote safety & health. There's a sign "no mask, no entry" on the front door. You can take your mask off at the table. Parties are very well spaced out, and it's not crowded at all. I went here for Saturday afternoon brunch, and got the French Toast. I asked about the Brioche French Toast that was listed in the website, and was told it's the same.... it wasn't. It was still good, though. I don't eat red meat, so I had to substitute the bacon/sausage for a fruit bowl. Apparently bacon is a garnishment in this meal, so I couldn't switch it for another side. I got the cheddar grits as a side, and they were tasty. Dont be alarmed if you get them and see no cheese, apparently they use "white cheddar". With some SALT they were perfect. I enjoyed my meal. One of my friends also enjoyed her meal, but the other one wasn't too fond of her order. She got the pancake burger thingy, and then switched it out for Eggs Benedict. Our server, Nathan was kind and accommodating. He made our mimosas w/ pineapple juice, and did the meal switch with no complaints. & also gave us separate checks. Super Casual Cool bar to visit when you are in the area. If you sit by the bar you will get a great service from David. The last time I came here with my friends I had like 4 Palomas..and we didnt order food. So this place its just good for drinks or to come after you had dinner. Came in w/significant other. We Ordered the "spicy" chicken egg roll. Had no flavor and the only "spicy-ness" was from the sweet chili sauce. 2 entrees. One the chicken and French toast. The piece of fried chicken was cold. Again with hardly any flavor to it. Asked for a fresh/hot piece. Waiter apologized and said they would make a new one. New one came out and you can see from the picture that they just dumped it onto the plate straight from the fryer basket covered in grease. Waiter then became even colder than the chicken was. He barely spoke to us the rest of the time and seemed annoyed we sent the food back. 2nd entree was the French dip. Meat was dry and seemed old. Again hardly any flavor to it. GF took 2 bites of it and lost her appetite. One thing to have the food not be hot/fresh. Another to have the waiter dismiss you and not be friendly afterwards though. Would not recommend if this is their norm. Plenty other restaurants around to chose from. read more

Amazing! First time here and will definitely be back. Found the place on Yelp and had no clue I've walked passed thousands of times. Unfortunately, I didn't get a to take any photos of what we ate. However, the food was delicious. We started off with the buffalo wings which were awesome! They were cooked right and had a decent amount of sauce. Then we had the Salmon BLT along with a side of cheese grits. The sauce that came with it was great and I got the salmon blackened. I'm always down for a classic buttermilk pancake stack, and this place hit the spot! We ordered mimosas which were a nice balance between champagne and orange juice--can never turn down a mimosa! The pancakes were thick and fluffy, and the maple syrup provided tasted perfect savory and sweet combination. The cinnamon butter with the pancakes was a sweet little touch.
