Popped into Chai while walking around old Yucaipa, I was super stoked to see this type of artisanal place in town! They had a super friendly staff that was knowledgeable about the products they were serving and the products they sold on the shelves. I had a nice little chat with the owner who was happy to just shoot the breeze. Too bad I don't live in Yucaipa anymore or else I'd be in there regularly. I had my first steeped masala chai and I really enjoyed it, it wasn't overly aggressive or sweet but had a comforting amount of spice. I'd like to come back when I'm in town to try the other coffee offerings. read more

When we got there we order two breakfast sandwiches and coffees as we were waiting the cook walked outside to vomit then came back in and made our sandwiches with no mask no gloves and was coughing and sniffling. I have to throw out my sandwiches now. They also forgot our coffee cake. Luckily the boys who made our coffees had mask on and seemed to be in good health. Employees who are sick should not be making food especially during this time. I'd love to give this place a better review it' really has a cool vibe but I'm still nauseous just thinking about the cook. Your customers and employees health should be a priority. read more

This will be the first 1-star review I've ever given on Yelp, but I believe it's warranted. My husband and I came in to order a breakfast bagel, coffee, and coffee beans for home. Chai opens at 8am and we were there just after 8:30. The coffee beans available were not freshly roasted (2 months out) and when we attempted to order the breakfast bagel to share, the lady at the register informed us she's not making any food until her help got there which would be in about 15 minutes. We had an appointment so we couldn't wait. I felt somewhat perplexed because there was another couple who she had just brought food out for prior to us ordering. As we walked away from the register another employee walked in and I eagerly waited for the lady who took our order to tell us the help has arrived earlier than anticipated and to offer to make the breakfast bagel - but she took no initiative to do so. At this point I decided to confront the situation and walked up to inquire about the other couple being served breakfast and her response was something to the effect of "I was by myself... I didn't know we were going to be busy." There was only one other couple before us waiting for drinks to be made and no one in line behind us so the information I was receiving from her and what I was witnessing wasn't adding up. After my inquiry I went back to sit and wait and she then told the barista taking orders we wanted breakfast. But when the barista asked after competing an order for another customer we declined because we didn't have much time and were feeling awkward. We were asked by another employee who had also arrived if we wanted breakfast but we again declined. Really wasn't feeling the vibe with the initial employee/owner/manager (whatever she is). Just too much inconsistency for me. On another note their coffee and breakfast bagels are really good. read more

I'm local and was starting to like this place and becoming a regular but not after today. I was denied service very rudely by Ryan because I didn't have a mask on (even though there is a thick plastic partition hanging between us.) I asked if they could provide one for me and he rudely said no. I have an actual, valid medical health problem that excludes me from wearing a mask which I told him and he still didn't care. Don't support this business- they don't respect disabled people with health problems. I will be filing a formal complaint to the proper agencies. I'll never step foot in there again. read more

One of my favorite places to go! I live right down the street and I frequent often. My favorite drink is the fawn latte! So good and I love that it comes with an extra shot already inside! Ryan is always so friendly and helpful. I have been here multiple times when they are extremely busy however he is always able to remain professional and kind when working the register as well as bar. Lupita made my sandwich today and it was absolutely delicious. Today I got the forest falls lunch sandwich, but I have tried others, (the sunrise and California street), good every time!! read more

I really enjoy this place. The coffee is great, the food is delicious. My only suggestion is that the staff receive extra training on the menu and maybe prioritization of task. I've had three separate experiences here: My sister can't handle espresso, she likes drip coffee. Chai doesn't offer drip, but pushes an Americano as a substitute. The more accurate substitute is a pour over coffee, which costs less than the americano and is closer to a drip than an americano is. Not a big deal, but helping your customers to the right substitute is good practice. My sister doesn't know anything about coffee really, just knows she can't handle an americano. Pour overs are cool. Next, we went to breakfast, got some sandwiches and a drink each, a latte and a pour over. They brought a latte outside and gave it to another table, to find that it wasn't that customers latte, then they took it back inside and left it on the bar. The food came. The pour over came next. No latte. Finished eating, went inside and they handed me the latte from the bar after 20 min and said it's a little cold now, want me to remake it? OF COURSE I DO! You cannot hand a customer a cold latte that was set in front of a different customer for five minutes, then left on the bar for 20 min. Ordered a pour over on a separate occasion with room for cream, the barista foamed some half and half, added it, and told me "that's how pour overs come".. inaccurate. That's a liberal application of breve. Again, not a big deal. Today ordered a cafe latte. The barista said they can only make regular lattes. No big deal, but is starting to reinforce to me that the baristas aren't quite experienced as baristas. There seems to be a knowledge gap in the training. Baristas should understand the menu, products, and terminology pertinent to the industry. Also never try to serve a customer a cold latte that has been delivered to another table in the middle of a pandemic. Check your tickets! read more

I was in Yucaipa waiting for my mom and decided to walk around and look for a coffee shop. I stumbled upon Chia Coffee Co. and I was pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff was polite while explaining how they do things at Chia Coffee! I love that they make their own syrups for their lattes and that their espresso and coffee is locally roasted! I got an iced vanilla latte and was not disappointed! She hates to be left behind and to us she's our baby so to have a coffee shop that not only allows but also caters to dogs is perfect for us already. But of course the food and coffee have to be good! The pup got a "coffee" off the doggy menu, she didn't breathe til it was gone! (Yogurt based, good stuff for your dog) I had a iced vanilla latte and it was so good! Not overly sweet and tasted so amazing! I also got the classic waffle with fresh fruit and whipped cream! The strawberries were sweet and perfect loved it! My hubby got the dog house bagel sandwich on a cheddar jalapeno bagel and he is super picky about food and he said it was so amazing! The place is adorable and has board games for you to chill, play a game and have your furry friend with you! I have been going to Chai for a long time and I am still obsessed! The bagel sandwiches are very good, my favorite is the Dog House. The drinks are always great and the baristas are very helpful!
