Error on the takeout menu as of 2:11pm 3/16/2023.

I am sure it has been since corrected!

It's tough writing this review because I have been a customer with Chaiyo since relocating back to southern Delaware. Food quality is top notch and they definitely have some of the best Thai and sushi in the area. My only problem is customer appreciation. I called to order takeout today and downloaded their takeout menu on their company website. I placed my order and the price seemed incorrect. I asked the person taking my order the prices and they were different from the downloaded takeout menu. I informed them they need to update their menu and asked if they would honor the prices as that is what was advertised via their menu. They informed me they would not honor the prices and that they would inform their manager to update the takeout menu download immediately. I am sorry, as a customer that has been consistently coming to your location this is poor customer service. Again, I appreciate the quality of the food the kitchen and sushi chefs are preparing, but come on guys take care of your customers. I even pointed out a major error to correct on your website.

Yes. I have been to the Forest Ave location and my friends wanted to meet here for dinner..got my usual shrimp tempura roll and shrimp pad sew. Just as delicious as the other location! Lots of shrimps and great stir fry noodles yum! The shrimp tempura had a great taste and looked great. Again picky about Thai food since I'm Thai but this chain seems to make solid great food! Glad to see that the food quality is still great no matter which location you go to :)

This is a 3 star restaurant, with an extra star awarded for their pandemic response. Had I reviewed Chaiyo last year I'd be revising the review now, to reflect the steps they are taking to keep 2020 at bay. They are no longer allowing sit in dining, only pickup. I don't use delivery services, so can't speak on that, but their pickup is fast and efficient. They give an accurate timeframe and call when your order is ready. Payment is all done ahead of time allowing for a contactless pickup. So easy. The reason the reviews are such a mix is that Asian foods are still a novelty here in Dover. There are plenty of generic American Chinese carry out spots, but very little beyond them. There are three Thai restaurants in this area, two of which are Chaiyo. They are also half of the nearby restaurants that offer sushi. If this is your only experience with these foods you will react with surprise that food can have so much flavor. Anyone who has ordered elsewhere can't help but compare. Chaiyo is working to please it's local customer base, and so the Thai food is too sweet, rice portions are small, and proteins are cooked a few seconds longer than optimal. Sushi relies heavily on the maki with cooked ingredients under sauces. They also offer teriyaki and a kids menu for those who need those options. Skip the spring rolls and prepare to be underwhelmed if you ask for spice. Chaiyo is doing its best, and is a place that I hope survives and improves as we move through this year.

We were here a couple of weeks ago before the stay at home order. This has given us time to catch up on our reviews. This was probably the worst meal we have had since moving to Dover. Everything was pre-packaged food that was thawed out and was still cold when served, covered in old jared garlic that tasted bad. The soup was horrible, probably the worst thing I have had. It was full of chopped up unseasoned tomatoes, can mushrooms and a bland broth. The pad thai was unpalatable. The noodles were overcooked and mushy and the sauce tasted like it was made with ketchup. The service was to be desired. The girl that waited on us acted like we were bothering her. She dropped off our food and never came back except to drop off the bill. After we paid she promptly came and took it to check the tip. Worst table service ever.

Chaiyo gets the job done in severely-lacking-in-Asian-choices Dover. I certainly prefer takeout to having to fight with the lunchtime crowds from the base. It's not spectacular but if I have a Thai craving, Chaiyo will leave me satisfied. The drunken noodles are the highlight - but need more protein. The sushi is pretty basic and won't satisfy the more high-end sushi enthusiasts. But at the end of the day, it makes do for what little choices we have.

I ordered the Hawaiian chicken Poké bowl and the Dover Roll chicken with their delivery service. They delivered everything with no mistakes 15 minutes earlier than they had originally estimated--was so pleased because I was starving and unable to leave the house. Okay so the food...the bowl is $12 (comes with chicken breast, fresh pineapple, sliced Avocado, sliced jalapeño, and cucumber with teriyaki sauce) the minimum to have it delivered is $25, so I added asparagus and the roll... I have to say the the table spoon of diced asparagus was not worth a $1...maybe Chaiyo should considered marking their additional options to .50 cents... the pineapple and cucumber portion was also less than a 1/4 cup. The pineapple was fresh and not canned--a plus for sure! The chicken was good and not dry--I'd say it was around 3-4 ounces, I'm sure if I called they'd be able to add extra protein. Also, there was a good amount of sauce (the bowl wasn't drenched or overpowered). I ordered the Dover roll in order too met the $25 minimum for delivering. It was decent. It comes with spicy mayo but I ordered it without it. The magi was sweet and perfectly ripe. Same here maybe better portion size for the $13 roll... Overall, it was fresh and tasted good. I'd order again when in a pinch. Lucky to have Chaiyo in town and the delivery guy was pleasant.

Pad see ew - not their best (unappetizing grayish beef with livery flavor, odd watered down flavor, and a lot of liquid).

Since my parents moved to Delaware, I have been on a hunt for the best restaurants whenever I'm there. The first time I went to Chaiyo, I had felt they were one of them. Everything for the most part was made well, their fried appetizers were perfectly light and crisp, the ingredients and flavors were pretty standard for what I've come to expect from American Thai restaurants. I tend to be a little skeptical of "fusion" places, but the sushi and other Japanese items were good as well. I only have one small complaint - my first time there, I ordered the Pad See Ew, which was delicious. The flavor of the beef was slightly off, having a livery flavor that - is not infrequent with beef, it doesn't indicate the beef was bad, it's just something that happens sometimes depending on the cooking process. But the flavor of the soy based sauce it was cooked in helped to mask it, and provided a caramelized soy quality that was nice. The noodles and everything else was perfect. My second time, the beef still had that livery flavor, but this time - it was grayish, and looked as though it had been steamed or cooked with too much water. It had no flavor, aside from that livery quality, and didn't appear to be cooked in the sauce - perhaps added after, and wasn't browned at all as it should have been. Additionally, the overall flavor of the dish was odd and extremely watered down, with tons of liquid actually being present in the dish (which should never be the case). When I complained about the dish, the waitress was nice and took it off the bill - but I was disappointed that no one seemed to care why I didn't like it or what the problem was, and the manager never checked in. I think they just assumed I didn't like the dish - but the issue was not my unfamiliarity, but the taste and execution. It kind of felt like the manager just shrugged it off. And don't get me wrong, I appreciate that they removed it from the bill no questions asked - but I am a little disappointed that, well, no questions were asked. Normally managers / chefs want to know when there's an issue with the food, and why, to improve upon any potential issues when there is pride in their craft. Otherwise, the service is wonderful, and both times I went I had the same waitress, who was very sweet and accommodating. The atmosphere is lovely and the seating comfortable. I'm not sure what happened the second time, but I'm willing to give it another shot, because for the most part I did enjoy this restaurant, as do my folks. I was torn as to whether I should provide 3 or 4 stars due to the last experience, but decided on 4 since my first experience at this restaurant really was very good.

Friends and I came here for a quick lunch and it was perfect. We all got the $10 lunch special and loved it. Great amount of food for the price. The staff was friendly and the food came out quick.
