3.5 stars rounded down. Not my first time here. Came in & surpringly we were immediately greeted and walked to a table...JK. The table was waiting for another person so we had to go back to play the waIting game. Thankfully they have a bar area + seats and tables where the sushi is made. We had to wait about another 30 minutes to actually be seated. The sushi is my favorite thing here, so good! The hibachi is usually good as well, but I just wish they had more sauces! I was there this evening May 16, 2025 around 6:30 PM waiting for my family to arrive. While I was waiting I overheard a server ripping a Hispanic worker apart for making an order of sushi wrong. when she was finished, she said to him, "make it over" and walked away. I felt so bad for the guy, I wanted to apologize to him for her being so rude. I wish I would have gotten her name. she wore a blue flowered outfit short hair and glasses. If Yelp would allow a negative rating, Hibachi would get one. The food "usually" is ok but the service is what would deserve the negative rating. We called Saturday to make a reservation for 15 people and was told they don't accept reservations days ahead. We were told to call at opening time (4pm) to get the reservation. We wanted to be seated at 6 pm but miraculously, they had taken reservations earlier during the weekend for the time we wanted. We were offered an 8pm time with caveats saying that everyone had to be there and if not they would refuse the reservation. The young lady continually spoke in a snarky and smart-ass tone during the whole ordeal. To the .managers of Hibachi, my wife is retiring next month and I was planning on having this same party at your place. Went here for a friend's birthday! We were a large group but they were able to split us off into two hibachi tables where we can see each other. My husband and I got mai tais which were pretty decent. We both ordered sushi rolls as appetizers. I got the shrimp tempura roll which was good. My husband got a sashmi appetizer which he says was okay but could tell the fish wasn't that fresh. For entree we both got the filet and scallops. We wanted medium rare for our filets. Our chef comes out he was very monotoned at first like he didn't want to cook our meal. Then he started joking around and doing hibachi cooking tricks! It was fun all around. The filet was really good but more on the medium cook side. Rice was cooked Al dente and was okay just needed more seasoning/sauce. The veggies were really good. The biggest disappointment was the scallops. They were brunt on both sides mostly since they were left on the grilled for quite awhile. Then when they finally made it to our plates they were way overcooked and had a chewy texture. Overall an enjoyable evening with friends but average hibachi food overall. read more

Heads up, no military discount and barely any alcohol in their mixed drinks ( I got a Mai Thai and it was all grenadine and pineapple juice ). A decent place to bring a large group though. This is my go to restaurant in Delaware. I love Hibachi, the staff & the chefs. Bill is our absolute favorite chef and he knows how to get conversation rolling with a crowd. The other chefs, (Jai, Mark & the two others that I cant remember the names of)) all work their butts off. Absolutely love them! Have regularly come to this restaurant and usually get my food to go. I always have a Sushi roll while waiting for my to go order is ready. This restaurant is ok if you compare to another (being nice by not naming) in the area. This is a great place if you are a teenager and on a kiddy date or a place to bring the kids. This is not a place if you are a serious Sushi water or even have a moderate love for Japanese food. I always order my food without sauce as they generally put like a sauce on the food. I like my food freshly cooked and not drenched with sauce that will sour the flavor. The sauce is like a teriyaki sauce. It's good, I just don't want it on my to go order. I love the Miso soup and the Sushi rolls. Again, not the most refresh or the best in town. The drinks are always good and the staff are extremely friendly. This is what keeps this place open. About a year ago, they didn't even have air conditioning during he whole summer!!!!!! They have since fixed it, but it was too hot to even get take out at that time. They could really use a face lift and a thorough cleaning. But, I guess that would mean they would have to close for at least a whole season.....but it really could be worth it. This is not the worst of Dover, De restaurants but it is by far not the best. It isn't even the most moderate. If you are however looking for a decent place to eat and want good service, and most likely close to your hotel or something, this is for you. If you live in the area, I'm sure you have your own ideas (as I) and I don't mind this restaurant if I want a quick meal. I came here with a bunch of work colleagues from working the NASCAR race held in Dover. It was a pretty great experience. Not a place to go if you are seriously into sushi (most rolls are fusion rolls) or seriously into Japanese food. We had a great waitress. However, our cook was beyond awesome. He was full of jokes and kept everyone laughing non-stop. Definitely one of the better and most entertaining chefs I have come across and that's a lot, even compared to my family in which we own a hibachi restaurant. One of the other exciting things on the menu was a drink that caught my eye. I wish I remembered what it was called. It came in a huge bowl with a little fire that was lit in the middle. It wasn't that great, but it was something exciting. The drink was definitely made for two people. Overall, it was a good and entertaining experience. It would be a place I would recommend for a group to go to. There were not many options of places to dine for this type of food, but it did it's job. I came here with two of my friends during the Firefly music festival weekend. This was my first experience of hibachi. I had other Japanese food before but didn't witness the cooking. It was really fun! I was like a little kid watching the fire blow up before my eyes. The cook definitely trolled me on purpose since I was amazed at his every move. It was entertaining! I ordered the chicken teriyaki lunch special entree (comes with salad, fried rice, 2 shrimp, vegetables). The food was good. I really like the fried rice, especially the vegetables with zucchini. Overall, super entertaining experience. The food was filling. I can't speak for sushi since I didn't have it there but it was fun! Dinner for 2 on a Friday night and we were seated immediately. It is a sizable restaurant inside. Service was prompt and professional. Pricing for hibachi was lower than other cities with a chicken/shrimp combo going for about $13.95. The chef was friendly and efficient, but was pretty no-nonsense for entertainment. Our dinners included a salad, fried rice, and chicken/shrimp (my selection) and zucchini. The quality of cooking was appropriate, not over salted. What was missing from the meal that ALL other hibachi places serve were: Soup White rice Mushrooms Sprouts Sherbet or ice cream at the end Hot tea with the meal After dinner was over I understood why pricing was lower..... Diners get much less food here than at other hibachi restaurants. Sauces were given at the end of his cooking instead of the beginning so diners ate plain, prepared food. My husband ordered tilapia and his was overcooked. In summary, we were treated pretty well, food was alright, but we still felt like the portion size was not appropriate and the showmanship was minimal, even at the lower cost. I've never had hibachi before, and I have to say that the experience here was just about everything I expected. My chef threw his tools around, started a huge fire in front of me, cooked everything, and tossed a few pieces in our mouths. Unless you're going for the early-bird specials, I'd highly recommend eating somewhere else. It's so ridiculously pricey for a 5 minute show. Our food wasn't all that great, and something about the way my cook scraped off the oil and burnt pieces really bothered me... Maybe I'm just not a hibachi person! The verdict? They do it in this buffet style, and they really slow down on the good stuff once they run out, leaving you with shitty rolls crammed with cream cheese. I had to search around the restaurant for the server so we could pay and get out of there, but inattentive and clueless service is par for the course in Dover. This is awesome that I'm the first person to review one of my top fave Japanese resto's in Dover, DE. To give you a back story of my life, I had lived in Dover for 6 years while stationed at the Air Force Base... so I considered myself a Delawarian for a while... until, thankfully, I moved to San Francisco. So I may be slightly harsh in terms of dining needs that absolutely need to be met by businesses that serve food. So, one positive of Hibachi is the fact that they are conveniently located on the main highway that runs the entire length of Delaware (US-13). Luckily, I had lived close to Hibachi at Silver Mill apartments which were, literally, right across the street. During days of major traffic caused by the notorious NASCAR races, I had just walked to have a good sushi roll or two... or three or four. LOL I remember having my friends take me to Hibachi for at least 3 of my 6 birthday celebrations while living in Delaware. The ambiance was a comfortable Asian house feel (think low ceilings and a big-ass fish tank with colorful creatures that call it home). As a customer, you and your guests have the option to sit at either the traditional hibachi-style grilling area where chefs arrive with uncooked ingredients and cook the meal right in front of you, or at the sushi bar where you can pick from the ALL YOU CAN EAT buffet ($20/person; check date/time) and order regular entrees as well. The best food to get were the spider roll, TNT roll (my ultimate favorite), dragon roll and philadelphia roll. The staff are relatively attentive in bringing out your requested meals and the sushi chefs are the best. Customers fill out a piece of paper and choose from the available rolls how many of each roll you want. People... TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE ALL YOU CAN EAT!!! Expect to pay no more than $25 a visit (and that's a full stomach). read more

Did I really just pay $45 for this? Got a coupon for this place for bogo entree. Drove there to get take away. Ordered with the coupon and the waitress waited until after she put in the order to say that they don't take coupons for take away? What? Meanwhile, the rest of the waitresses are sitting at the bar laughing about over charging customers (double check your receipts!). That alone wouldn't have been enough for this review but the food is pitiful. The shrimp are tiny rubbery with very greasy and tastleless fried rice. I know there aren't many choices in Dover but this place is a waste of money. I'm a huge fan of hibachi, as I've previously mentioned. This place is probably the best Japanese steak house in Dover, perhaps on merit of being the only one. It was okay. I have had better hibachi. The chicken was a little overcooked, and his knife wasn't quite sharp enough to get through it well so the presentation was off. The well done steaks he served appeared to have burned slightly. The rice was, I suspect, not as high quality as it could have been. It didn't clump well for chopsticks, which I had to ask for. As far as entertainment value, it was not great. The chef was so interested in talking to his real estate agent that he completely ignored the girl at the other end of the grill, who was there for her birthday. On the plus side, the host/waiter was very attentive, and made no fuss when we took issue with the bill (early bird specials make me feel like an old person... who saved like 15 bucks. Ha!) Get there are signs that say reservations only, do not enter without a reservation, which I did and asked if we could sit and eat and they allowed us to sit with another couple (6 ft apart), which was fine. Ordered apps (sushi) and the cook came out to prepare the food before we even got out apps, then two rolls were brought out (we ordered 3) and the waitress dropped them without explaining which one was which. The spicy mayo wasn't alive AT ALL but more of tangy, which was disgusting! Finally the 3rd roll was delivered after I went to find out where it was. Food on the grille wasn't bad but the meat was cut to big (for my mouth anyway) so I had to request a knife. Got a clipper magazine coupon and failed to see it was TAKE OUT ONLY...who orders Hibachi for take out! Needless to say from start to finish I was highly irritated! Upon entering the restaurant, no one was there to seat my party for at least 10 minutes. We were then seated and had to wait 20 minutes for someone to take our order. It took 20 more minutes for the sushi to come out and then an hour later, the actual chef came. The chef was very entertaining no doubt about that but the food was 3/5. I feel like the pricing is appropriate for most selections but some meals may cost you up to $50.
