I like the low-key, self serving station - pick up food at the assembling line and gathering utensils and condiments. There are several signage to remind of "no tipping" needed. The food is comforting and price points are solid with each order coming with a drink. You're charged $1.75 more for cold drinks. We ordered wonton noodle soup - good soup based and very generous with 8 (8!) shrimp wontons! This is a must. Before being seated, you must order your meal at the counter first. After the payment, they will give you a pager. You can sit anywhere while you wait for your order. If you spend over $30, you can request a Chicken Bowl for a dollar. Yes, for a dollar. I believed this is just an offering now. They have self-served condiments (peanuts, hot sauce, ginger slices, green onions, cilantros, chili oil, white peppers, to name few. If you want to sweeten your drink, they have sweet syrup bottles. And of course, the utensils, small bowls, and 3 section condiment plates are available at the self-serve station on the bottom. If you want a chopstick, you can ask the worker at the counter. Chan Kee is a Chinese breakfast all day type of establishment, which is great for me because I love breakfast. Parking in the plaza is really tight, and the restaurant gets crowded as well. You get in line to order at the cashier and you get a pager that they keep setting off per item for you to come and get yourself. Seating is a first come first serve. You have to get your utensils, napkins and sauces yourself. Considering how much self-serve is involved in the business model, their prices are on the high side since they save so much on staffing from the customer doing some of the work. My boyfriend went with their Noodles Combo Special ($13.75) where you can pick a noodle dish and a hot drink. You can upgrade for an iced drink or other special drinks, which he upgraded for an Iced Tea (+$1.50). For his noodle dish he went with the C1 Shrimp Wonton noodles. You can pick what type of noodle you want with these and he opted for thin egg noodles. Considering how much we eat noodles, I was shocked when he said these were really good. Above average in the noodle category. He wanted me to try the wonton and it was super big and juicy. I could totally taste the huge shrimp in the bite. It was really flavorful too. I had a A+B Combo ($13.75) where you pick an item from section A, an item from section B and it comes with a hot drink. I selected the A1 Pork with Thousand Year Egg Porridge and B2 Chinese Donut. I opted for the Jasmine hot tea as my drink. I also ordered an Ox Tongue Pastry ($4) that's only available for a limited time until they run out. I really like that my congee came in this huge tub, definitely shareable. I shared a little with my boyfriend and there was still enough togo a full container for another meal. They also had a random promotion for this Chicken Rice Bowl for only $1 for every $30 you spend here. What a great deal. We got it togo since it was too good of a deal to resist. Definitely a no frills Chinese teriyaki-tasting bowl, but I'm not complaining for $1. Great spot to add to the rotation if I want my congee and he wants some noodles. Everything is served in togo containers even for dine in so it's easy to pack up. Rice roll with Chinese donut: generous amount of delicious rice rolls with crunchy Chinese donut inside. The rolls are served on a bed of sesame sauce and hoisin so don't forget to dip! Ham macaroni: traditional cantonese breakfast featuring elbow macaroni and slices of ham. The broth is super flavorful and overall a comforting and delicious dish. French toast: Super crunchy exterior with soft interior. The hash brown and scrambled egg were delicious. Garlic toast was not even lightly toasted. Duck with Snow cabbage with macaroni in soup was okay. Macaroni were a bit chewy. (we prefer satay beef with instant noodle though) The baked bolognese spaghetti was so cheesy and delicious. It was kinda oily and heavy. We still like it though. Again, the garlic toast seemed like it has not been toasted at all. We like the house special stir-fried vermecilli. The taste and texture were on point and the portion was big. The cashier told us that if we would like to have free dessert (Chinese firmed jello) and we said yes why not? They sometimes give you free ice-cream but they didn't have it on that night so they gave us new flavor jello and the flavor was quite interesting. Introduced to this place by my parents and their friends so decided to check them out. Since before posting, i've been to this location a couple times so the photos are all within the month. Service is decent enough given that they're aiming for a more authentic HK style cafe feel where you order, get to a seat and then get your food when called. The only thing I would say is that there's no enough room for tables so the queue line would typically overflow to the outside so go early if you want to beat the rush The food here is decent enough when you want to be more frugal with your spending and bang for your buck. I think the the all day breakfast combo menu is the weakest of the various combo menus they have available. There's an exorbitant amount of food given, but the standard of the items leaves much to be desired: duck snow cabbage noodle soup was bland / the fish filet felt like the frozen bulk you get from the costco / satay noodles was ok enough I'd say but nothing new.
