It had been over a year since I had tried any location of Chang's and with the coupon from my Entertainment book it looked like a good time to try again. After finding out about this new(er) venue. This used to be a Carrows then a Main St Grill before its latest incarnation as the Mongolian buffet. Dinner offered salmon which I went for twice after finding out how well the chefs do with it on the grill. All the foods looked fresh without anything seeming to be wilted or exposed too long. Pineapple and tomato's had rich color which shows me they were recently provided and might not even come from a can. On the front desk there was a sign for a Happy Hour from 2 to 4 where you can go in for 5.95 but I don't know how long that will be offered as its not stated on the website. read more

First visit, was perfect for a last minute bite, staff were friendly. for $14 All You Can Eat it was pretty good, I take a 3 bowl approach, meat or shrimp/noodles/vegetables, expect it to end up all on one plate, the sauces/oils are fairly mild so you can't really mess up your dish unless you go overboard eg, too much oyster/chili oil/lime juice weeknights they shut down the grill at 9:30, last call is around 9:05 salad/rice/ice cream are included with your meal *thumbs up* Pretty standard with AYCE, there are no "take out boxes" read more

A day after eating here with my sister, we both got very sick and were suffering from food poisoning. We noticed after our food was being cooked, that the guy behind the counter had his thumb completely under our food on our plate..I DON'T KNOW WHERE HIS NASTY HANDS HAVE BEEN!! This is a family favorite! I used to go to a different location before moving to the Tigard area. The restaurant has plenty of seating. The employees are friendly. The food is always delicious and it's always a plus when you don't have to wait in line. My family and I love the soft serve you receive after your meal. The best soft serve I've ever had! Tried to go to dinner there tonight. I called and was told about 25 min. After about 20 min we walked up to the door to see how much longer. I was told then 1 hour. First time here with my fiance and his family, another great find right next to the Quality Inn they were staying at. We were skeptical at first but once we realized that it was an all-you-can-eat buffet we were excited to try it. It turned out wonderful! There was a wide arrange of selections for both meat and vegetables so there is the opportunity to make whatever kind of meal you like! The selection of sauces and oils was also very impressive. Pretty much you grab a bowl or two and fill it up with what you'd like and then hand it to the chefs who cook it up right in front of you in about 5 minutes. The chefs were charming especially the older one who did cute little tricks while cooking the meal. We were all pleasantly surprised with how delicious our selections turned out! I also have to say that the mango lemonade was sweet and delicious! To top the wonderful meal off with an even lovelier surprise was when we found out that the little scoop of vanilla soft serve ice cream (with chocolate, caramel or peanuts on top) was part of the meal!! Overall very tasty and fresh. The service was nice, and checked in with us several times. They were happy to ask for tips at the grill and again on the check, so make sure you bring a few extra bucks for the grill masters :) It wasn't so busy when arrived. I would probably return for lunch next time to save a few pennies. Didn't give five stars for a few reasons. The "salad" that comes free with the meal was just dressing and lettuce. Large restaurant. Good food and good choices, dinner had (fake) crab, shrimp, octopus plus various meats and veggies and sauces. Price is typical eg feels a bit expensive in the abstract but not out of scope of typical I think. We have been three times to this one and each time staff was attentive and friendly. Most importantly my daughter has food allergies and each time they were careful to clean part of the grill just for her. Very accommodating, very nice. Also note that I asked the front desk how tipping works and they said the tip at the grill only goes to the grill cooks and they said tipping on the bill at the table only goes to the server. I thought that can't be right but that is what they said and I wanted to point it out in case it's true in which case you might want to also tip the cooks at the grill separately. read more

I really enjoy going here! It's a fun experience, plus you get to make exactly what you want as many times as you want! They have a lot of veggie options which is a plus, and if you don't quite know how to mix sauces together, they have a guide you can follow. The soups aren't very good, and the ice cream is very basic, but the rice paper is a nice touch. Considering you can go back and make as many plates as you want, the price is very reasonable! However, if you only plan on making one or two small plates, it's a bit steep. But overall I've always had great service here and great food! Would definitely recommend! read more

Went here on my birthday, it was excellent! Great price, and great quality food. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious :) I so wish they had coconut milk as as sauce option, it was truely the only thing missing. The whole experience was really great, the best part was that I got to eat free on my birthday. Meat was tough, chewy, and flavorless. You can drown it in sauces and power through to get to the veggies and noodles, but you'll be exhausted by the time you get there. The presentation was pretty cool though, and it's buffet style. So, if you prefer quantity over quality this isn't the worst place to go. read more

Coworker and I grabbed lunch here prior to flying out of PDX. Got served right away and the server was friendly. It's an all you can eat setup. I made one plate and it was pretty good. They have a good variety of veggies and sauces. The line backed up shortly after I got my food so be wary of that. All in all, not a bad lunch place. Okay, but not great - main problem was the food is mostly burned. My first plate was so burned I couldn't even choke it down. Second plate was better. I politely asked the cook to please be careful with the plate for my child who is adverse to anything that looks burned... Only to watch him throw it on the grill and walk away behind the wall - not even watching the grill! If he had just stirred it more it would have been fine. Very frustrating. All the other staff was very friendly and helpful. I've eaten at a lot of Mongolian grills over the years and have learned that the key to a flavorful dish is lots of sauce! If you think you've added too much, add two more scoops. Their suggestions lacked flavor, so just ignore them if you like to taste something other than burned noodles and veggies. Add one scoop of every sauce. Per bowl. Obviously if you don't like hot stuff, skip it. If you don't like seafood, skip the oyster sauce. But seriously, add lots of sauce if you want to be satisfied! One final tip - I noticed that our dishes with meat were charred, and the ones with just veggies and noodles were less so. If you like meat, perhaps it might help to have it cooked separately. One of my favorite places. I love Mongolian Grills in general, but this is a really good one, and the best of the Chang's chain I've been to. I'm not sure how anyone can not like it. You get to choose from an assortment of meats and vegetables (if you eat those thing...I don't...I'm a carnivore), top it off with sauces, have it cooked right in front of you, and then repeat as often as you like. read more

Have been here several times, so last night's experience is not an outlier. Have been to numerous other Mongolian Grill establishments in the last 23 years. o Expensive - like $13+. No extra charge for multiple bowls, so we effectively subsidized the jagoffs scooping up two pounds of shrimp. Other places charge explicitly and equitably for expensive or extra meat. o Soup and ice cream are included, but contain meat, so again we pay for something we don't get, and the staff repeatedly hassles over it. o Other places put some effort into cleaning the grill between rounds, keeping diners' heaps segregated, and wiping the spatula between heaps or using a different one between meat and veg heaps. Not here. Tired of finding meat on our forks. Not a good choice for vegans or even vegetarians. read more

I let them know I had never been there before. Everyone was super nice & explained everything to me as I went down the line. A little pricey and after the first plate I couldn't see going back for more. Even if it was all you could eat. Ice cream, choice of Carmel or chocolate topping was included. The Good: It's all-you-can-eat Mongolian food for less than $15, so it sounds like a pretty good deal. That includes rice, moo shu pancakes, and soup. There a lot of ingredients to choose from, which makes a limitless number of combinations. The Bad: When it's time to season the dish yourself, it gets tricky. I like the idea that the customer can really get specific about what they put in it, but the average person has no idea how to season. I can't keep track of the right proportion of meat to noodles to veggies to sauces. Yeah, I can try again because it's AYCE, but I do have to finish all my food before I grab a new plate, which means I probably have to eat food that is either bland or over seasoned. Another thing that bothered me...other Mongolian grill places the cooks will grill up to two plates at once, but here, they grill up to six. While this does increase efficiency, it also decrease quality; less time spent on a dish (I got some undercooked veggies) or more time because their attention is somewhere else (I got some crispy noodles). This also means that ingredients from other people's foods may and usually will mix in with yours. I've seen a couple people that night complaining about unwanted meats and veggies that got tossed into their food. Try: another place for Mongolian BBQ. My favorites are back in So Cal, so I can't really recommend anything. Don't Try: coming here for a date. When one of you decides to go back for seconds alone, you can expect a long time of separation from each other. Long lines, so beware. read more

I usually love this place and maybe this was a one off issue, but.......Mongolian Grill is a treat for my family. We go about once a month and always are excited. This time however, we felt like we were not important. Upon going through the bar to get items to be grilled, I noticed that they were out of tofu, I asked someone at the front desk if they could restock, he looked at me and said "I don't know" and walked away. I had to ask a second person and she took care of it. I guess my request got to the grill, and when I took my food up, the guy at the grill glared at me. I ate here on average of 5-10 times a month (Sunset Hwy/99 one) as I used to live in Beaverton (1996-1998) but traveled for a living so it was a nice, healthy alternative to coming home to a refrigerator full of nothing. The staff used to greet me by name and I NEVER had a complaint about this place- ever. This still is the only M-BBQ I've eaten at in the U.S. (there may be others) that has fresh meat, not frozen. Big difference in flavor. The sauces were good, the produce always fresh. This place deserves all of the accolades it gets. I miss it dearly. read more

LIsten, this place is way better than the "Mongolian BBQ" down the road for two main reasons. 1. You can get salad if you don't want soup and 2. They give you ice cream, with caramel and chocolate sauce. That's worth one star alone right there. Also, this place is about 100% clesner and more inviting. I've had quite a bit of Mongolian food before and this place is alright. It just seems very buffet like. The service was okay, not overly impressive. The staff wasn't bad, but they weren't necessarily super attentive either. I wasn't greeted by anyone that made me happy I came there. The food is alright also. Just lacking a lot of flavor. It seemed like the chef didn't really know how to cook the noodles either. Every time I got noodles he always burnt them. This isn't a place I'm likely to go to again. read more

This is not quite the same as the original changs up at tanasbourne. The noodles seem larger and mushy. I used the same sauces to cook with but somehow it came out a bit tasteless. The good thing though was that our waiter was prompt and friendly, and they offered chocolate or caramel topping on our ice cream. read more

I'm usually a fair at giving ratings but I'm not going to lie, having dinner here gave me a gassy stomach ache and I kept it pretty clean...eating some meat and veggies no noodles and a tad of rice, it's the quality of the meat ... It's kinda disappointing because I like the taste and our waitress was nice, but I can't expect much from an all you can eat asain food establishment, hence the two stars!
