Ordered the house lo mein for pick up. I ordered the lo mein before and the online menu did not specify there was meat in the lo mein. I was expecting the lo mein order I had before without mean. I called to see if the restaurant would rectify the situation or if I could return the order because I wasn't going to eat the food. The lady who answered the phone was unintelligible, not helpful, and said she would call me back (I did not expect a call back). I will own that I should have asked what was in the lo mein. Came here on a whim when my girls were craving orange chicken and were hungry NOW. We were the only people at the restaurant when we walked in. This made me a little nervous but it was on the early side of lunch. The restaurant appeared clean and we were assisted quickly upon our arrival. We ordered the Orange Chicken and Kung Pow lunch specials to go. We we home and eating in 15 minutes. The orange chicken was pretty good, nothing special but pretty good. The breading held up with the sauce and wasn't soggy or chewy. The Kung Pow chicken was straight forward and had decent spiciness. The veggie/chicken ratio was good. The fried rice was good. Three and a half stars. We decided to go in and order take out for dinner. The restaurant is aesthetically lacking. There are only a few tables, seats around a conveyor belt for sushi, blue walls decorated with plastic sea animals, and piles of cardboard boxes along the back wall. We ordered lemon chicken, cashew pork, fried rice, egg foo young (which was not on the menu, but the staff accommodated our request), and potstickers. We sat down around the sushi conveyor belt while we waited for our food. We saw grapes, desserts, and a couple of sushi plates go around. I thought it was odd that it was prime dinner time, yet there were so few choices for in house diners. We also saw the same sushi plate travel around for the half hour plus we waited. I'm leery of how often the sushi is refreshed. We took our food home and enjoyed most everything, however, the lemon chicken had an unnatural yellow color, and my mother wished the egg foo young would have had more gravy. We have eaten from Open Rice Sushi's extensive menu about ten times so far... food to go mostly. The first few orders were delicious (about six months ago), but our last few orders these last two months were very poor quality. Last night our meal (nigiri sushi, Chinese stir fry, and tempura) was honestly quite bad. The tempura was so oily and the batter used was a thick, heavy texture that had no crisp to it. The stir fry was over-cooked and soaked with a sauce that drowned the veggies, and the sushi was just not fresh. We hope they turn things around soon. We like the friendly owners and their quick service, but we won't continue to support an eatery that isn't able to maintain the quality of their menu items :/ until next time...wishing them the best at recovery of their quality! read more

They focus on the American-Chinese style that is a bit too sweet and saucy (greasy) for my tastes. Take my review with a grain of salt as they have a sticker that says people on Yelp love them... This afternoon, I was just looking for something to eat randomly. But the restaurant surprised me!!! I went into the restaurant with the idea of getting takeout to eat at home. However, when I entered, I saw food on their sushi belt, and the food looks quite fresh, so I changed my mind to eat in this restaurant. It has sushi, salad, Chinese dim sum and dessert... although there are not many people sit by the sushi belt at that time but the food keeping service so it is also very fresh. When I was full and asked for the bill, the waiter told me that it is happy hour now, and all the plates are counted as green plate's price $3.5 each! What a good deal!!! After talked with sushi chef, I know that their menu is still adding new stuff. Yes, I will come back to try the new products with my family and friends! The food is fresh, the service is attentive and the prices are fair. I highly recommend it. read more

I ordered a large order through Ubereats & was very happy with what I got. Everything was there, nicely packaged & placed in a large box. California rolls were fresh & perfect. The garlic green beans were good & crisp, & I especially loved the handmade sautéed noodles. It's a great vegetarian option! It's really like a seitan option. Chewy, flavorful, & loaded with veggies. Open Rice was one of the only places open during the snowy weather in Feb. 2023- for that, I do give them credit. We placed a big order with them- over $100 after tip. I was happy to see that their order form let you specify special instructions. I detest avocado and eel sauce, so for for every sushi item I typed "No avocado. No eel sauce." When I submitted the order, I also added "No avocado or eel sauce on anything" to the comments. My husband went to pick the order up and unfortunately did not check it. When he got home- you guessed it- we discovered every roll was drenched in eel sauce and stuffed with avocado and thus, for me, inedible. Big disappointment. read more

Okay, so this is a "sushi boat" style place. We all know that these places are typically 2-3 stars based on the quality of fish and the freshness (or lack thereof). This place is pretty average in general. I think 3 stars is good. The sushi goes around on the track and it makes my kids happy when they pull it off (pre-pandemic). One star for that. One star that the salmon quality isn't terrible; it's actually better than I expected. One more star for the price. Our family of four can eat here for $50, which is cheap these days. Back when we used to eat inside the restaurant, the tables and floor were always horribly sticky from lack of cleaning. Service....lol! I just ordered take-out through Uber Eats: California Roll, Hawaiian Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Chicken Szechuan, Chicken Fried Rice and Edamame. I am so disappointed that I spent almost $40 on this super blah dinner, and thinking that I would have leftovers for another 4 or 5 meals. I can't even consider eating the leftovers. I started with the sushi. It was warm from being in the bag with the hot food. And clearly not fresh. The chicken fried rice literally had no flavor. I didn't even want to try the Chicken Szechuan after the questionable sushi and less meh fried rice. But I did. It was edible but was watery/greasy and didn't have much spice. I didn't even open the edamame. It sucks to have to say negative things about someone's establishment when I'm sure that the team works really hard but please use your money elsewhere. Hot and sour soup was very good (most places miss the hot and especially the sour bit; this did not). Orange chicken was good heavily breaded but it was a light density breading so pretty good. We ordered a delivery: kung pao tofu and general tso chicken. First of all, I asked for no onions in the kung pao, I got onions. Second of all, the quality of the food was absolute garbage: besides tofu, the kung pao had green peppers, onions, literally 3 peanuts (yes, I counted as I as struggling to understand what I received), and literally 2 mushrooms. The sauce of this "kung pao" was sour, salty, and simply not edible. The general tso chicken was mostly breading, barely any chicken, and again, the sauce was sour. We've been going to Open Rice for 5 years now. They have consistently good service and food for very, very reasonable prices compared to the other sushi and noodle options locally. We know exactly what we're getting, the sushi is fresh and the dinner options are solid, especially the udon. There are no surprises and we are satisfied every time. Every few times they throw in complimentary yogurt drinks for the kids or extra fortune cookies. If you want super fancy sit-down sushi, there are plenty of places for that and you can pay twice as much. This is much more practical for us given our large family and frequent sushi eating. First and last time. I went around 730 pm and had a few plates of sushi, cold crab puffs, ordered honey walnut shrimp and ice tea. It all tasted ok at the time but don't know how long the sushi was going around on the conveyor. I found out around 2 am when I had diarrhea, dry heaves and cold shakes that it most likely wasn't the freshest food to have been eating. I was up for a couple hours. Eat at your own risk. Good Chinese food. Boyfriend got the house lo mein--he liked it but the noodles were very thin compared to other lo mein dishes we've had. I got the kung pow tofu, tofu was in big chunks and was delicious! Just wish there were more varieties of veggies in the dish. We also got salmon belly nigiri, great value for the price, but we've had better cuts at nicer restaurants. We will be coming back to try some other items and the sushi! read more
