Was looking for a DIY antenna kit to cut cable. Staggered by choices on Amazon and underwhelmed with junk at Walmart, ended up calling Channel Master. I actually talked with an RF engineer, Trent, who guided me thru what I needed to get. He guaranteed it would work or I could send it back, and sent me a custom quote. The antenna kit I received is superior quality, and with a little patience sim please to setup. I still can't pull in CBS (17kw signal and I'm in a canyon, but I am keeping the gear and will figure out something with CBS. I have been a CM customer for 20+ years. I purchased 2 CM 7500 DVRs. They were the BEST DVR's ever made. But CM stopped supporting them after a few years and they became worthless! They then came up with the CM 7600 DVR and I bought 2 thinking they would be better. These were junk compaired to the 7500. When does a company actually make a product worse. They enterred into some agreemet with Google to support the Guide. Without a Guide, a DVR is worthless! In the past week Google has stopped supporting the giude and now my 2 CM 7600 are WORTHLESS. They offerred me a discount on a $400 TIVO DVr. What makes you think I have ANY trust in you CM? You have a lack of corporate ethics and would not do business with you ever again. It is with deep sadness that I write this review. I, like many of the other reviews here, have been loyal customers who have come to expect the best from CM. I have bought many products from antennas, amplifiers, to cables and the products were all solid. I recently purchased another large purchase with the new preamplifiers and I was looking forward to using them as the reviews were excellent. The packaging arrived and the label read "product of Bulgaria" I was hesitant but 3 of the preamplifiers are still working--unfortunately 1 stopped right at the 30 day mark and I am sending it back for a warranty claim??? And I have to pay for the shipping and maybe just maybe after a review they will fix it or possibly replace it??? How about a refund and you pay for the shipment. I am very disappointed in the product and warranty process. I DO NOT blame the employees who work there. This is big corporate business selling a product that they found from a third party off shore company. Thus the trust, built up over decades, is thrown out for profit. They said they corrected the original error and also made an offer in hopes of repairing trust. Soon I should receive the antenna I was looking for and think I'll be happy with it since the product reviews are so good. Channel Master used to be amazing and have great customer support. if a problem, you could just call them directly. Now, it's impossible to find their support number. Now, their support is horrible!!! I suspect that they no longer have in-house support. I suspect that they've gone by way of overseas. The support emails I have received are from zendesk.com, which indicates to me that CM has pushed their support to a 3rd party company. And we all know how that works out!!! The person I had contact with (via email) clearly has NO CLUE I was clear that my internet is fine and that I'm a Certified Technician, that fool still tried to blame the problem on, her words, "your internet not being strong enough. After being a Channel Master client for decades, my experience today has me walking away and ceasing all recommendations to my clients. I called them for one simple question, and they have a recording that says the only way they will talk to a client/customer is to log in a return call via their website. What a pain. So I pulled over (was driving at the time) and spent 5 minutes trying to log a return call. My new iPhone with iOS could not process the last step - a certification via picture selection. So, they want to sell products, but make it impossible to get assistance. No worries, I have the CM corporate phone number. Well, the corporate number has been DISCONNECTED. Are they going out of business soon? It sure seems like it. I'll find another solution, and after 3 decades as a client, I will no longer be one. RL read more

I purchased and returned the CM7600 Stream and OTA DVR because it is a very poor product as an OTA DVR. The old DVR+ was a great product. Channel Master does not post Ratings of 1 or 2 as I have and others have written. The CM7600 will not pick up 2 TV stations with the same number. The tuner requires a stronger signal than the DVR+ so I can't receive 2 channels. The remote control is marginal lacking the standard buttons to record and play programs. The software is fair and how if stores recorded programs makes it challenging to play back. I returned my CM7600 and stayed with my DVR+. read more

I asked Channel Master 1 question about a product they sell. They then started sending me emails and messages asking for a review. After I gave them a review and they now continue to send me emails and messages almost on a daily basis. They will not stop because it is "automatically generated". They will harass you over and over even if you ask them to stop. Some of the messages they send will have typos and misspelled words. Their "automated" messaging system can't even spell correctly. DO NOT give them any means of contacting you unless you want continual harassment. read more

For eight years, I worked for an Electronics Supply company that sold Channel Master Products and had many satisfied customers. But wait, that was the original Channel Master Company. Recently, I was looking at purchasing a pre amplifier and wanted to ask some questions. Being old school, I looked for a phone number to call, and the only one I found referred you back to the website where you could email them requesting a call back. This attempt was within normal business hours and I would expect to be able to reach customer service by phone. Not by email request, and maybe you'll call and maybe you won't. With the help of Channel Master, I was able to cut the cord...no more cable. Anytime I have had questions or a problem, the staff has been very helpful and professional. The Channel Master DVR provides me with a guide similar to what cable provides. The one I have can only record a limited amount. There is a newer model than can record more, but unfortunately, it doesn't support Netflix (the version I have does), but that is not the fault of CM. read more

I have had my channel master for four years and had little or no problems with it until now. The tv program listing is only coming on for one day at a time and often does not list all the channels I have available. Like other people who have reviewed this product the customer service is non existent. I would say their product is good but if you have trouble then you are on your own. Good Luck read more

I have had Channel Master for more than a decade, they use to work great, but now no more, they have a problem with the TV scheduling, it is incorrect all the time now! Channel master blames a 3rd party that supplies their product with the information to record the correct shows, and they say they cannot fix it, that they are at the mercy of the 3rd party to correct the problem. This has been going on since last year, many many months, and they have no way to correct it. I do not get how they sell a product and they do not secure or create the necessary data to make the DVR record the correct shows. Currently here is what you get. The Channel Master will, Miss recording that air; Record shows you did not want but show a name of the show you did want but the recording will be something else; Record shows with blank titles in the folder with unknown recordings- you will have to start each recording to see what recorded; so to sum it up you dont record all your favorite shows; you get recording of shows you did not program. examples; you set it to record The Big Bang but it records The Wall, but the title will show The Big Bang; If you look at your smart TVs listing and compare it to Channel Master listing, the Channel Master will be incorrect! or Blank with some correct listings. The company has stated on the their QA about this issue and just blame a 3rd party for their problem and state they have no way to fix the problem leaving in the hands of the 3rd party. So what the Channel Master is in control of and responsible for is the selling of their product that they know is not working without a correct schedule listing, you will miss recordings, you will get recording you did not program, you get recording with no titles or wrong titles or titles that say unknown; and trying to set manual recording you would have to manually look through a correct listing (not the Channel Master listing but a different listing you would have to find) then on the channel Master, go to the date and time that you want to record and set a single recording for that day and time, and you would have to do this for every single recording of each program for that day and time; you will spend hours doing this since you will need to look at a correct list and setup that recording for that recording. You will have to repeat this process for each recording that you want to record, and it will show a title of whatever the channel master list has, it may be labeled something else, blank or unknown, so when you try to look for the recording you may not know if or were your recording is so you will have to hunt for it! The company should stop selling these units since they have such a high error rate and since they take no responsibility to correct the problem. I do not under how you make and sell a product that does not work right, remember the 3rd party they rely on is not taking your money, Channel Master is, which does make them responsible to make their product work as correctly or give out refunds, especially since they continue to sell them knowing they do not work correctly and can not record all the shows correctly using the list they continue to use. They need to take control of their company and be responsible for their own list in order for this issue to resolve, and until this happens they should suspend sales until this issue is resolved, something they can do and can be responsible for! Seems like the State attorney General should be involved with a company selling known products that dont work as stated or expected. Stop selling these units until you resolve the problems. They should tell you all of these examples so you will fully understand of what you can expect if you buy the Channel Master for recording your programs; hits and misses! Q. does it record? Yes - Q. Will it record all of your programs correctly using their list, NO! - Q. Will it record programs you did not select? Yes! - Q. Will it record programs with incorrect titles? Yes - Q. Will it record programs with blank titles? Yes - Q. Will it record programs and show titles of Unknown? Yes - Q. Will you miss some of the important shows you wanted to record? I just bought a channel master dvr+ and I could absolutely not be any happier with it. It is an incredible product. I have a state-of-the-art high-definition professionally installed antenna that brings in 169 Channels. For the small difference I connected it to a Seagate 3 terabyte hard drive so I shouldn't ever have to erase anything recorded. This is an excellent way to record all of your free high definition channels. I wish I could give it more than just 5 stars! I did need to update its software not a big deal at all and Channel Master Plus technicians are incredible to work with. This is absolutely a must-buy product read more

last week I bought the Channel Master DVR+ and the smartenna, along with a new TV. The antenna brings in 67 channels from the antennas at South Mountain and about 10 are broadcast in HD - and it's FREE. I'm paying NO monthly fees to anyone. I Installed on Thursday, and Friday a friend wanted to come over for some scotch and talk about his Dad's impending Big Exit - so I went to the system and looked at the on-screen program guide, and it said "Watch this program or Record this program" - clicked one button and walked away and everything worked out fine - excellent quality picture and really simple, intuitive commands and remote control system. I am a HUGE fan - will post more later as I find out all the qualities of the system. Oh BTW - the customer service is EXCELLENT - I asked how to delete the preachers and Spanish-language channels and got a response same day with simple instructions - much easier to channel surf now. read more

Have used ChannelMaster for several years including their products like antenna rotators, DVR+, signal amps, and splitter amps. Always found them to deliver as advertised and helpful when I needed it. They even go above and beyond what is expected. My rotator is about 6 or 7 years old and was showing its age. The rubber grommet that keeps rain out of the gearbox had sun cracked and split. I emailed them on the slim chance that I might be able to buy a replacement seal. The did me one better and sent me two of them...at no charge! My only disappointment is that my DVR+ took a lightning pulse and no longer works. I would have bought another one in a heartbeat from them...however it is no longer available. Great company to deal with. read more

Recently I purchased the CM-777HD Amplify Adjustable Gain Preamplifier. It did not give the wow factor I was looking for. I requested a return number for a refund. The price was $69.00 for the unit. The postage cost me $7.50 which I paid giving the total of $76.50. After few days I received my return number and sent the same package back to Master Channel. That cost was $12.40. Days later after they received their unit back ,I got an email saying that they credited my card with $69.00. Doing the math, I lost $19.90 for no product! I dont think its fair that they keep my postage money after it cost me more to ship the unit back! Merry Christmas. read more

I recently purchased a HD antenna from Channel Master. They have the worst customer service and return policy of any business I have ever dealt with. My antenna arrived defective and they wanted me to pay for the return shipping. I was never so shocked in my life. Then I was told IF I show pictures of the damage or defect I wouldn't need to pay for the return shipping. Well I complied with that request and was still denied a shipping label. At first I just wanted another non-defective antenna but when the manager at customer service started to get cross with me and said I'm not going to argue company return policy with you. That's when I started to see red and decided I wanted a FULL refund. The only cooperation I was able to get was. Agreeing to have a replacement antenna sent and at that point I would receive a shipping label for the defective one. When UPS showed up to deliver the replacement I give the driver the defective one and refused the replacement one. It was the ONLY way I was going to get them back their lousy equipment and at their cost. At that point I launched a dispute with my credit card company. Which took 120 days to complete. This was hands down the most frustrating purchase/return experience I have ever endured. If you MUST purchase a product from this company. I would NOT make the purchase directly from Channel Master. I can only hope this helps someone from going through the misery that I did and can only hope that Channel Master improves their customer service and return policies to appease their customers, rather than just appeasing themselves. read more

Great Products.... I have 2 (CM-4228HD) antenna's (angled at 45 Degrees for wider coverage setup feeding the Jointenna (CM-0500) then feeding a Pole Mounted Amp (CM-7778 (medium gain)). To Divide to all stations I also use the 4 Channel Amp (CM-3414) indoors to go to all TV Locations, and at my main setup I use the 8 Channel Amp (CM-3418) to connect in the recorders. This works great, so much better than Direct TV, Dish, or any cable... Best move I ever made.... Before I set my system up to where it is today, I contacted support to discuss my plans and now have a system that can't be beat.... I have 57 local channels that includes 4 Movie Channels, H&I, all received locally. With my initial cost layout, I broke even at 4 months, and now just enjoying no monthly bill from the Cable Cow... I will never return to DTV, DISH, or the other... Glad Channel Master was there to help with great tech support and a great product... Had 1 amp to fail, and they replaced it with no problem or questions... Could not ask for a better product or support. read more

I purchased a DVR through Amazon it was a Channel Master DVR. I bought it September 18th of 2014 and I just called today which is December 5th. The reason for my call was my remote is not working. Living in Mesa and finding out the location is in Gilbert (3 miles away) they sent me through an entire process of a warranty claim, and service call for somebody to call me back and set up an appointment just to get me a new remote. Within 24 hours of a work day. So that means Monday for me. How insane is that? I just need a new remote. The product isn't even four months old!!! I have a year warranty. The way the DVR was made it does not have any buttons on the machine itself, so you have to use the remote to turn on your TV and the DVR. Now I have to dismantle my DVR, losing all my prescheduled recorded programs and hook my HD antenna directly to my TV, thus losing everything on my DVR that is going to be recorded in the next few days. (Or until a service tech calls?). This is such an inconvenience I can't believe they won't just replace my remote. I can drive there!! I will update this review as it takes place, I am not happy about this! I will also be writing a review on Amazon. UPDATE UPDATE Although I had to buy a new remote, all is great. If There was a way to give their support a zero I would. All was fine for 8 months got the DVR plus 16gb with external hard drive. Then abruptly it went black one evening while watching a recorded show. No matter what I tried could not return to either Tv viewing or DVR shows. In order to get help you have to ask for a call or email back, after reading the extensive directions to determine problem I had answers for the "tech" if you miss the call which I did due to work you are unable to simply call back you have to re-request help for return call. The tech determined that indeed it was the device and I had to return to them, they provide no return label or pay shipping for their defect!! That was another week of trying to get WLA number from them after sending proof I purchased.
