I ordered from Jin's using Uber Eats. I'm staying at a nearby motel. The food was ok. The Beef Chow Yuk had very good flavor. The veggies were plentiful, perhaps a bit over cooked to softness. The fried rice was a little disappointing. Seemed mostly rice and soy sauce. A few specks of mystery meat in the mix but the texture was good. My biggest end disappointment was the food came without any plastic silverware or napkins. I'm in a motel with no eating utensils. Am I supposed to use my hands? Luckily, after I made my way to the front desk the clerk found me a plastic fork. Kinda a pain to have to put on shoes and stuff to stroll down there but I was hungry. So in the end, the food was ok to mediocre, filled me up. The lack of utensils and napkins could have been a disaster waiting to happen. read more

We usually go to Eden Gate in Newberg, but decided to give Jin's a try recently. Overall I'd say most of the items were decent, but lacking a depth of flavor, particularly the egg rolls. The one thing that really let me down were the shrimp used for the shrimp dishes. I cant say 100%, but they tasted to me like cocktail shrimp that were just placed cold on top of the other items. They definitely weren't hot and just had that "taste" that grocery store cocktail shrimp have. The chicken in the sweet & sour chicken was very good. I'd probably give Jin's a 3.5 stars if I could. While staying in Newberg we were looking for a quick, inexpensive dinner since we had a late lunch. We saw Jin's Chinese off of 99 and decided to try it. The parking lot was empty and but the open light was on. The place was empty and of course we were a little apprehensive since it was only 7 pm. We both ordered a combo plate and were we ever surprised. A nice plate of food! The sweet and sour pork was delicious, 4 or 5 nice pieces of fried shrimp, a nice sized eggroll and I had the chicken chow mein. It was a lot of food for $14.00. The waitress was very friendly and we had a nice meal. They do not have any liquor but we were ok with that. Please don't hesitate to give them a try, it was a nice place and I want them to do well. I have been on a never ending search for good Chinese food and today was the DAY! I was hesitant to try this place because of the not so good reviews. But really I know I need to form my own opinion and give this place a fair shot. Now I'm sad that I waited an entire year to eat here! I've missed out on some seriously good food!!! Jin's has some of the best Chinese food I've ever had in this area. I lived in Beaverton and all the hole in the wall places I had been to were "okay" at best (except Frank's noodle house which I LOVE). I have been craving good traditional Chinese food like the kind that I grew up with out of state. This place reminds me of where I grew up and nothing topped that place. Jin's did NOT disappoint. I called in my order and it was ready in about 20 minutes. I ordered the potstickers, bbq pork fried rice, chicken chow mein (soft noodles) and Szechwan beef. Everything was delicious! I was smiling after every bite. It's not bland, it has so much flavor and the Szechwan beef had a nice kick to it. I am super excited that this place did not let me down and I am now making it a regular date night destination. Writing this on Thanksgiving. We have a tradition where we do takeout from Chinese restaurants and bring the food home and watch Christmas movies. I can't begin to emphasize how flawless this food was. It was hands down, the best Chinese food I've ever had. The food was freshly made and everything had flawless texture and taste. I'm one of the biggest critics of Chinese restaurants. My biggest disappointment is soggy food, and I'd say there's a 50% change I get food that's too soggy for my liking. Not the case with Jin's. The food was crispy and 100% FRESH. Thank you for being open on a Holiday, and I can't describe enough how flawless the food was. Out of the many years of our tradition, I have never wrote a review 10 minutes after a meal to let people know how amazing it was. Very large, very crispy, which is nice, but absolutely no flavor. Kind just mush inside and hard to make out what's in there. Overall very tasty, and good quality. Beef and broccoli was tender beef and the broccoli was cooked tender but not mushy, with flavorful sauce. Mongolian chicken had a few too many onions and (!) bell peppers compared to the amount of chicken, but tender and well seasoned chicken, spicy but not overly hot. House special fried rice had plenty of chicken, beef, and BBQ pork; only a few shrimp. We've been hesitant to try it but everything else we've tried in the mcminnville/newberg area is either just ok or straight up garbage. Every other Chinese place had long waits Christmas eve but they did not and I'm glad we went because it was probably the best Chinese I've ever had in the portland area. Everything was incredible, the fried items were crispy and only lightly breaded unlike most places, and the Broccoli chicken and Sichuan chicken were both very good. When Jins first opened years ago it was really good. It went downhill and food was terrible after ownership changes. I was craving Chinese food and already knew I did not like any of the ones in Newberg, we decided to give it a try after many years. I'm happy to say it was pretty darn good. The food looks like it's been there for days. The service is really slow. And when you order from there, it takes hours and the food becomes cold. We finally got over to Jin's! We really enjoyed the food and service. The decor was a little outdated for being under new ownership but the restaurant appeared clean. The portions are plentiful and affordable - we all took leftovers home. Easily shareable plates and the menu has a lot of options. Jin's is located in the old Chan's of Dundee building. When I went there they still had the Chan's sign up, but they are clearly changing the name. We ordered take out of Sesame Beef, Mandarin Chicken, Lemon Chicken, Crab Puffs, and Pork Fried rice. Of those items on the Lemon Chicken and Pork Fried rice are the only items that were worth eating. Sesame Beef tasted like I was licking a salt lick it had so much salt on it. The amount of salt overwhelmed any other type of seasoning it may have had. Also the meat was a little tough. The first bite of the mandarin chicken was good. It had subtle flavor that I thought was going to last. But a few more bites and it was pretty flavorless. This could have been from the overwhelming salt flavor on the Sesame Beef though. The crab puffs where all around decent, but were cold in the center. Yes it was take out, but it was more like freshly removed from the fridge cold, not the we let it sit too long before eating cold. The Lemon Chicken was extremely good. The sauce had a great lemon flavor to it and the chicken was nice and tender. I know it is a new restaurant and they will have some growing pains, so I will update my review once I try them again later on. read more

We enjoyed our takeout! The portions are generous and we especially enjoyed the fresh vegetables they used. The broccoli in the beef broccoli was delicious and not over cooked. The wonton soup was a step up from average with delicate wontons and lots of veggies. Jin's is a great Chinese restaurant. From my understanding the place is under new ownership and has recently changed over. The food and experience were very good. The staff was friendly and was willing to customize the order and take requests. The food was serviced in a reasonable time but didn't feel like fast food. I hate leaving a bad review but my food was absolutely horrible and they had to know that when the sent me on my way with a to-go order. I got kung pao chicken and it smelled off but I gave it a shot and the meat was not good, like so not good it shouldn't have been sold the chicken wasn't cooked, and was spongy and stinky. It was absolutely terrible I've gone to Chan's for a long time this was my second bad experience since they changed to Jin's I'm sad to leave this review but I was straight up served uncooked meat and that's not ok. Parking lot was bare as usual. Small dining room, order takers standing around. Dining room curtains have HEAVY dust. I could tell young order takers wanted a tip do to interrupting me with small talk. I observed they had a lot of stand around time yet they don't keep the small place clean. Food average it may have been better if the place was clean. Extended wait time for my food. My visit was late last year. Absolutely no tip earned and no tip handed out. My bedroom is cleaner literally! On one's next visit should u be next to a window, open and or close the curtains and see if dust falls onto the window sill as it did for me. I frequented when it was called Chan's under the previous management & I really wanted to still like the place. Under the new name/management Jan's orange chicken was standardly good, the fried rice was kind of dry and flavorless, but most disappointing part of the meal was the general tsos chicken. It wasn't the same consistency of other general tsos chicken and didn't taste good. It also had lots of pepper in it. I live very close by and I'm disappointed that it wasn't better. Went back to this place for the first time since it became Jins....and what a disappointment in the food, from the BBQ Pork...to the Froed rice and everything else I got today. It was always so DELICIOUS when Chans. Hopefully they will make adjustments soon. I know Chineese good is cooked differently all over China and not everybody makes it the same, but it should be close to the same. BBQ was Awesome previously, today it was not at all. Finally, some decent Chinese food in this area. What a dramatic improvement over the previous restaurant there! We've had the Kung Pao chicken, Mongolian chicken, garlic chicken, sweet and sour shrimp, and all were delicious...and the "hot" is actually from red peppers cooked with the food, as it should be, not from pepper oil. The Spring Rolls are tasty. The Hot and Sour soup is good, the Pot Stickers a bit too "porky" tasting for our palates. The steamed rice is sticky, as it should be. And our service has been fine. As transplants from the Bay Area where we had access to numerous excellent Chinese restaurants, we know we will definitely be going back to Jin's, for sit-down and take-out. read more

When I travel through the Yamhill County area I enjoy stopping for lunch at Chan's of Dundee. They had great lunch specials, soup included, and you never walked way hungry. Apparently about 6 months ago they sold out and are now called "Jin's". Not only was the name changed on the front sign but the "lunch special" sign was also removed. My first clue should have been no cars in the lot at lunch time, but hungry for Chinese food, I made the plunge. My first shock was the price increase and they have a lunch menu that starts at $6.50 for two items, they count rice as an item and soup is not included. You need to spend $8.50 at least to get what Chan's offered for less. Oh if you want hot tea you have to ask for it. I ordered the $6.50 Mar Far chicken and Pork fried rice lunch. The chicken was bland and greasy. As far as the Pork fried rice goes apparently the owners are cost cutting as they were no sign of onions, carrots or peas in the mix, oh they were scattered pieces of pork and eggs. For the positive lots of parking spaces and the server was polite when he was not busy on his ipad in the other room. While I was paying my bill the waiter asked, how was everything? He seemed surprised when I said I would not be back. I do not expect they will be around for long for lack of returning customers. read more
