I don't understand why this restaurant only has 3 stars on Yelp. It's Good food and plenty of it at reasonable prices. The one complaint I have about them is that they package their to go orders in whatever box they can find lying around rather than have professional to go boxes printed. That doesn't present a very professional image. They really should rectify that! read more

Been there many, many times. My eggs rolls were cold and had no taste. I mentioned it to the server who was very nice. Then the owner came over and instead of trying to keep a customer she told me if I was in an American restaurant I wouldn't have said anything. I cant believe she played the race card. I've been to this place, the food had a very big large of selections, from chicken, to beef and everything between. Menu was very nice and big print. Service was very cheerful and happy to serve you, but my waiter disappeared, so I could hand her her tip. I like to tell the waiter how they did when I leave. The hot and sour is the best I have found in Oregon. I have went to a lot of places and it is great! The rest of the food is really good as well and I am happy it is so close to home. The only other place I really enjoy is in Portland. Nice to have a local go to Chinese food place. read more

We started coming to Yan's about 5 years ago on a drive back from the coast. We live about 25 minutes away, but there's no decent Chinese restaurants in our town do every once in awhile we drive out to Yan's. We hadn't been there for awhile, but went out for lunch there today. As per usual the food came out hot and perfectly cooked. The batter on the sweet and sour pork is crispy and not greasy, and you get a lot of food for the money. Granted, it's Americanized Chinese food, but Yan's is always consistent with quality and service, and for us it's worth the drive. I give it 4.5 stars! read more

First off I find it interesting that the highlighted negative reviews have authors whose "names" are two restaurants located just up the road. I digress, we love yans food. It's always fresh and yummy. Their special chow mein is a favorite of ours. Their pan fried noodle is my autistic son's favorite, though he has ventured I to other noodles and even ate a fried shrimp. If you have an chile who is a picky eater then you get how big a deal that is. My son has asked for them for dinner specifically. Wok right in! Yan's is a solid, generic Mandarin style (low/no spice, little rice) Chinese restaurant. For a small town, it's surprising good. Our family of four decided to give Yan's a chance. After living in McMinnville for about a year now, we've consistently heard that this is the better of the Chinese places in town. So we went in, expectations checked, and walked out generally pleased. The food was tasty and well presented (below-average by big city standards, above-average for small town ones). We had four vegetarian dishes--sweet and sour tofu; black mushroom with bamboo shoots; low mein; and meatless fried rice--and the fried crab puffs. They were good. The service was accessible, friendly and prompt. The dining area is generally clean (albeit outdated, tired). The price was fair (perhaps even a bit lower than we expected). Not bad! Whether just passing through town to visit Linfield or looking to try a new place nearby, I'd recommend Yan's. read more

The host was not polite. She took other people's orders instead of ours and we were seated first. Also, the chow mein didn't even have noodles. It was just veggies. Absolutely love the salt and pepper shrimp (shell on), MaPo Tofu (you can taste and feel the Szechuan pepper) and general Tsao's chicken (crispy, tangy, great spice). Excellent fresh and also the type of Chinese food that tastes better as leftover chop suey. Only drawback is that they are usually short staffed, the past few times times I've gotten takeout I was told 20 mins but had to wait 40 or 60 for my food. I moved to Newberg 3 1/2 years ago. Yens is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area and worth driving to McMinville for.

This restaurant was recommended by friends and we hesitated because the Yelp reviews weren't great. However, compared to Chan's this restaurant is very good. The service is excellent and the food for four of us was found to be tasty, fresh and well seasoned. The review would have been higher but the bathrooms weren't clean and that, for me, is a clue as to how clean the kitchen might be. We will be back and probably close our eyes if we have to use the bathroom. (;^) read more

We didn't go to Yan's for years because I had a lousy dinner there a long time ago. Our neighbor asked us to meet her there for dinner, so we did. It was pretty dang good! We've been back 3-4 times now, and went again this evening. The service is good, the food is hot and fresh. We have no complaints. We will continue to go back without hesitation. I hope that some of the other people that posted bad reviews will try it one more time. This place used to be Golden Corral then Sizzler's then Oriental Garden and finally Yan's so you know I have going here for a long time. The lunch special I ordered was to be Sweet and Sour Chicken with Chicken Cow Mein and Fried Shrimp but I wound up with Sub Gum Chow Mein instead. The tea was very lacking in flavor and the hot mustard just isn't. The staff seems to wish they were somewhere else and the quality has gone way downhill since before the Covid lockdown. Do not go here for dinner unless you like to pay a lot more for their mediocre offerings. Sadly McMinnville is not the place to find decent Chinese style food anymore. read more

The last two times I ordered from yans they charged my debit card 20% of my original purchase for a tip without approval and or permission to do so it's the second time they tipped there self without my knowledge. My bill was $24.50 and they charged my card $4.90 and tipped themselves . I confronted the people at yans both times and both times they lied about it even though I had bank records on my phone I showed to them. So after I got home I forget to order fried rice so I went down there one Last time and it happened again the Rice was 10 dollars and my account was charged 12.50 . All together they tipped there self about 13 Dollars from my account without being told to do so. read more
