I have eaten here several times and it's always been great. I have had the tempura shrimp and vegetables, the pineapple curry, and the soft shell crab, and everything's been delicious and reasonably priced. The portions are generous and the hours are late- you just have to be seated by 9:30 pm as otherwise I've seen people been turned away at 9:35 so just be aware. Give it a try! read more

Went with my extended family (who are very picky and difficult to please) and they all agreed that the flavor of each dish was well above average. 5/5 There was 7 of us and we ordered a lot of food so they did their best to serve us but our plates and cutlery came out after the food has been coming to our table. They also forgot one of the desserts we ordered but also forgot to charge us for it. I went to pick up an order that was ordered online. According to the website, the restaurant opened at 11a. When I arrived for pick-up at 1130a, the door was locked, the flip-sign was flipped to "closed" and lights were off. A sign was posted on the door (attached.) With this information, I returned to my car, called my lunch companion and we ordered from a new restaurant. I also contacted "Beyond Menu" to let them know about the issue. Beyond Menu called me back and let me know that the restaurant was indeed open and that my order was ready. I returned to the restaurant and was order was ready, however, it was no longer needed because we made secondary plans. I asked for a refund and the restaurant refused on the grounds that the order was completed and therefore ineligible for refund. The lady was very apologetic as to the fact that a second restaurant had to be contacted but refused a refund. She did offer a free Thai Iced Tea for my troubles, but I declined. When asked for an explanation, the lady at the restaurant first said that they were always open (implying the misunderstanding was mine,) then her story changed that she had to use the restroom and was alone in the restaurant (however there was at least one other employee present) After much back and forth with Beyond Menu and the lady at the restaurant, Beyond Menu agreed to the refund, provided I leave the food behind (at the point, I was over 30 minutes late for my lunch meeting and on principle I wanted a refund and the food.) What makes me sad is that we have been ordering from this restaurant since it opened and made sure to continue support through COVID, but after this customer service incident we will NEVER order from this restaurant again. read more

Sorry I forgot to take photos but we were too busy having fun. I called Sky a few days ago and asked if we could reserve a table for 7 and because we were having a meeting, might stay in one place for a 2-3 hours (turned in to almost 4!). She was great on the phone and in person and NOT ONCE did she push us along. I finally tasted Thai Iced Coffee and that was a revelation. We had an assortment of dishes from Spicy Eggplant to Pumpkin Curry and, of course, Panang. The person ordering that later commented that she usually used soy sauce on any Asian food and it never crossed her mind. We finished off with Mango Sticky Rice and left there having had a great meeting, wonderful food and seeing nice people. BTW, the ambiance was great! read more

Small place but Great Thai food! I absolutely love this place they make some great Thai food. The food: I got the cashew chicken, Mango Sticky Rice and Thai tea. Everything was perfectly cooked and paste it excellent and friends of mine who never tried Thai food even enjoyed it. However I will say that the mangoes with the sticky Rice where not great, could've been a little bit better but it wasn't bad. Sticky rice itself was soooooo good! The place: Place is a bit small and we had a really big group, They were so awesome and making sure everybody got what they ordered and made sure everyone is taken care of. I have had food from here before as take out but decided to try the food at the place. My only gripe is that they do not have a lunch menu, it is only one menu. I didn't want to order too much but I definitely wanted to get egg rolls. There are 7 egg rolls so instead of ordering my favorite Thai dish, Pad See Ew, I went with a small bowl of won ton soup. The egg rolls are definitely better when you eat them there. The outside was crispy and hot (temperature). The inside had some glass noodles and vegetables. The sweet and sour sauce is perfect. The soup was very tasty too. There was a good amount of won ton for a small soup. The broth is seasoned nicely. The tea came in a carafe with a really long straw. Place is good if you come with a group so that you can share. Not really a place if you are alone unless you want leftovers. read more

My dude and I ordered more food than we even needed but we like having many items on our plate. The portions were very reasonable for the price but I didn't love that there weren't many chicken selections. We order the following: Combination fried rice and added shrimp to it, it was delicious. The Chapo Doi platter was definitely one of my favorite items because I have never tried the Golden Triangle Fried Lagoons before and I fell IN LOVE with them. The Shrimp Tempura was fried to perfection and there was a decent portion provided. Sigh...the chicken kabob..I have to say, I did not love this item nor will I be reordering it. It wasn't cold or anything negative like that but it just felt and tasted like a chicken meatball...a chickenball? It just wasn't for me. We were provided with a sweet & sour orange tangy sauce but it would have been better if it came already tossed on the chicken. Extremely disappointed, I kinda knew I was doomed when I smelled no aroma of Thai cuisine walking in. The place is beautifully decorated but it felt more like hotel lobby than a restaurant. I ordered chicken Tom Yum and pad Thai. Both were not good, the soup was bland no flavor besides the obvious lemon grass. The chicken had a rubber feel to it. The pad Thai noodles were stuck together , no lime or lemon served with the noodles. I normal don't go in too much. But this business seemed comfortable and no heart into the kitchen. I love this local Thai food restaurant. I used to frequently order delivery because it was free delivery with minimum $10 purchase, now I believe there is a small fee. In my experience with delivery food they have rarely made mistakes in on orders. One time a mistake was made and they gave a free pad Thai to use anytime which was nice. Food usually delivered in about and hour and was always packaged nicely and hot. Prices are very reasonable in comparison to other Thai food restaurants in the area. Furthermore, the food is delicious. I have gone to more expensive places and find myself comparing to Choi Doi. There is parking in front of the restaurant and residential parking nearby. I don't mind parking in the residential area because the walk is very short. The inside of the restaurant is small but aesthetically pleasing and the staff is very courteous. Some favorite dishes of my family and I are Pad Thai with Shrimp, Mongolian Beef, Crab Rangoon, Fried Rice, and the Mango Sticky rice. read more

Parking is in the covered lot within the building- do not worry about the numbered stalls, you are allowed to park there (per the waiter). I really liked a few of their dishes- the Shrimp and Scallop entree had an amazing sauce!!! We definitely considered drinking it! Also the Pad Thai was very good too- didn't seem authentic but the flavors was great. Some lower points were the Tom Khan- not as well balanced between sour and sweet (with coconut milk). My first time trying Chao Doi and I highly recommend. Placed a large takeout order through Yelp, everything arrived early and food was hot. I recommend tom kah soup, pad see ew, papaya salad, prig king garlic, and pad thai of course! The quality of the chicken in all the dishes was great. Everything tasted fresh and light, not too spicy, a little sweet. Prices were only slightly higher compared to other Thai restaurants, still under $12 per dish and I really felt the quality was worth it. I came here today for lunch on a whim without any expectations, and was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and drinks, including refreshing bobas. The restaurant had just recently opened and modern clean décor compliments the space well. I was the first customer to arrive, given a warm welcome and offered my choice of seats. I started off with some ice milk drink #3 with honey boba, caramel and red bean, something I don't usually order outside of Half and Half Tea House. It was served in little half pint sized mason jar topped with whipped cream and drizzled with caramel. OMG! This was terrific. It was like a delicious shake and very refreshing. For my entrée, I got grilled salmon steak a la panang ($11.50). I love the flavorful profile in this sauce! It was creamy, sweet, and not overly spicy, but enough to delight your senses. It really went well with the rice and the vegetables were perfectly cooked al dente. The salmon was tender, lightly flaky and so sumptuous. I literally devoured this delightful dish. Dessert?? Me of all people skipping dessert, not when there's mango and sticky rice on the menu. The sticky rice was served warm and the mangos were simply sweet as could be. It was the highlight of my visit and the best mango and sticky rice I've had in the long time. The coconut sauce was fantastic complimenting the sticky rice profusely. Just the right balance of sweetness to gorged myself to death, but somehow I was able to suddenly put a halt to this over indulgence and take the rest of this luscious dessert to go for tonight's consumption....to be continued. This place was truly a breath of fresh air and I'm glad I visited. Everything was wonderful and the prices were reasonable. I so look forward to returning and try other dishes on the menu. This is my to go spot for Thai in Pasadena. Usually everything i order is excellent. Not today. Today I ordered delivery. I ordered the Chow Mein for my son and it was a little too salty. The Pad Thai i ordered for myself (pictured above) the noodles were a little darker than usual and It did not have that sweet flavor I love. Was a little disappointed honestly. Hoping it's just a one time thing and the restaurant reads this so they can pass this information on to the chefs. I'll continue to support this place even though today was a little off.
