Finally was able to come to this place, and I'm glad they were open before my work day starts. Prices for the food is on the high end but it accounts for the high quality of the food. There's a sign that promotes that these foods contain no MSG and are made with filtered water which is to me - a selling point. The lady behind the counter was very nice and patient with me (a plus plus) There's a loyalty program with them, which I signed up for - since I deadass would definitely be going back for more. Pure bliss I tell you. My mouth was watering at the smell it radiated from the bag and omg, the food was just as great as the smell. A bit hefty on the price, but my head was nodding at every exploding bite I took from all the foods I purchased. The rice- I could tell it was jasmine rice. Nothing was too hard, not too chewy, it was seemingly the right amount of texture and taste. The pickled cucumbers was so good, it brought me back to those side dishes when you dine in for korean bbq. The sesame seeds complimented the sweet and tanginess of the pickled cucumbers. The soy garlic chicken- at first I was crying at the price but if you look at it- they filled it up to the top of the lid and every bite was so delicious. If you're planning on eating it later when you purchase it, I suggest leaving it out or putting in the fridge to be microwaved for later. Sooo sooo good. Great food, ready made. Ever since I was gifted their Charim's Rice Cracker snack as a holiday gift last year I've been trying to get back here to get more. What's been challenging for me is the hours they are not open, especially late hours on weekdays and on Sundays they are closed. I don't cross the GWB bridge over to NJ as often as I used to so my loss. With the stars aligning recently, and a chance for me to visit, what I can say is the this rice cracker snack is like crack. It's totally addictive and if you're not wanting to be like me, please avoid. Perfectly crunchy, a hint of sweet, according to their website, made with just 2 ingredients, it's just super hard not to finish the entire package in one sitting. After I finished my initial bag, I've been aching to get more. I happily enjoyed perusing other food options available on my visit, which all seemed foodi-licious. On my visit, settled on a fried chicken and a veggie dish. Straight out of the eco friendly packaging, the chicken pieces were tender and sweet and the veggie platter was equally tasty! There were also raw options as well for you to take home and cook which hopefully I can try on a future visit. I don't doubt those that have noted the premium pricing but what limited options I've tried so far, it does seem fair. Great food, even ready made, will command a premium. If I had one recommendation I'd say make more of the rice cracker snack and have expanded store hours. The folks in the store were notably friendly to newcomers like me and other regulars in the store. We've had a few takeout orders and have gotten the frozen dumplings. I would say the food is decent but not worth the price. I'm not sure if it's because they increased the prices due to the pandemic. We've tried the bi bim bap, tempura veggies and fishcake, mandu. They were all underwhelming. You can tell that the flavoring is more subtle and less harsh compared to other local Korean places. But they borderline bland and makes you feel like you can make the same things at home. Maybe we ordered the wrong things but hope they can figure out a better price proposition for the products. read more

Heard that the owner of the Soram restaurant had opened a Korean food store which carries all sorts of pre-prepared K food! They carry an assortment of korean banchan / bansang which are side dishes served with cooked risk in Korean cuisine. They also have an assortment of soups and porridge offerings. It's a lifesaver when you don't have time to cook but have to or want to eat a delicious and healthy meal at home. The store is located at the old "School Zone" restaurant in Fort Lee. The food sold here is high quality and you can tell made with a lot of care. Food tastes as good as it looks. Finally!! Home made mom's Korean food in the area!! I love eating Korean food but I'm running out of options when it comes to clean, high quality, no msg authentic Korean dishes in the area. They have traditional soups and side dishes and daily specials too. Their kimbap is also delicious and perfectly seasoned. My sister works near by and said their lunch bento boxes are tasty with many different sides. I'm so happy they are centrally located and readily available. Changes daily so I can't comment on their full offering but these were standouts: rolls, chicken wings, spicy crab, ginger snacks, dumplings, steamed pork and kimchi. They use high quality ingredients and their restaurant in Ridgefield Park is the only place my wife made me take her every weekend when we lived in NYC and she was pregnant with our first child. I can't even begin to express how disappointed I am with this restaurant. Given the current environment, I try to support my local businesses. I saw that this was an emerging location that offers fresh and home-style Korean meals, so I decided to have food delivered from this location. My favorite thing to order from Kimchi Soup and this was the biggest bummer of my life once I received it. The food was cold, as if straight from a fridge, so how can it be fresh and made to order? It came with no side dishes and not even an accompaniment of rice or even utensils. If you order from any other neighboring restaurants, that's the minimum they'll pack with your order. The soup isn't even good. Packed with veggies that don't even taste like kimchi with no tofu or pork, the standard ingredients for the soup. Given my food came cold, I tried to heat it up in its packaging only to have the container shrivel up in the microwave, so the food packaging isn't even microwave safe...It should be if you're going to serve freezing cold food. People should look to spend their money elsewhere for legit Korean food. read more

This Banchan place is so instagramable!! haha not in that snobbish way but for that pleasant design, health and environment conscious care that you can write home about (biodegradable packages, anyone?). But most importantly the food is so clean, crisp and tasty!! It is abit pricier than the H mart/ deli stuff but you definitely get what you pay for as everything is made on the premise apparently. I've been there several times to give them a chance. Tried various "banchan" and it was unremarkable. Some were down right bad. I'm not Korean, but I've had marinated raw crab, "aka yang nyum gae jang," at several restaurants and banchan places in NY, NJ and Philly. I've even had it in Korea where my wife is from. I'm a huge fan of the dish and Korean food in general. The gae jang here was downright fishy. Very off putting. Kimbab was "pretty" but so dry and bland which seems to be the theme of the place. Owners seem more intent on marketing pretty packaging and less on selling good food at reasonable prices. Save your dough and try any of the other banchan places in Fort Lee or Pal Park. My rating has to do with the customer service at this location. When dealing with the owner over Instagram or email the service is top notch. When going into the physical store and dealing with the staff that is a different matter. I have tried to support this establishment because the owner does use fresh ingredients and it is not mass produced so you can taste the difference from other Korean "banchan" places. Yes the prices are very high for small portions, but you get what you paid for and overall the quality of the food is worth the extra dollars. However, with that said, I can no longer make excuses to spend my money supporting when the service on site is so terrible. There have always been 2 employees (one younger one older). They both barely acknowledge you when you walk in - they are always busy doing something else. I have to actually ask for service, and the younger one doesn't even say thank you - EVER..... and I have been in the store 3 times the past 2 weeks. She looks miserable and that is unfortunate as a smile does not cost you anything. Maybe engaging with customers, let us know what the specials are for the day - ANYTHING will result in more sales. My wife and I found this gem of a place for delicious Korean to go food on stop to Paris Baguette. Yu-Chou kimchi was excellent sweet yet little spicy. Jap chae had lots of vegetables with wonderful Wood-ear mushrooms. Uncooked marinated beef was excellent cooked with mushrooms and onions over rice. I stumbled upon this place while visiting a friend in Fort Lee. The interior is modern, airy, and inviting. The store is very clean and the staff is super friendly. Everything was authentic & healthy. The dishes are prepared daily with fresh high quality ingredients and they don't use MSG. I like the fact that they support local farmers and all their packaging are eco-friendly and biodegradable which is very important to me. I bought the braised short ribs, spicy crab, japchae, soybean soup, traditional Kimchi and the bulgogi kimbap which looked too good to pass up. As a chef I appreciate their food presentation as much as the taste. I saw people grabbing their famous dumplings, I will definitely be back to try them next time.... I've been to many Korean to go places and this is by far the best one, hands down! This is not your average Korean food store, they're a little more pricey, but you certainly get what you pay for. Upscale, clean and authentic Korean caterer that's completely different from the typical shops readily found in Bergen. They're like the Trader Joe's or Whole Foods of Korean side dishes in terms of the all natural ingredients but made from scratch in-house. I love it!
