My fiancé and I came by after doing some shopping at the mall and we got a classic Philly with cheese and the Chicken California cheesesteak with Cajun fries. The quality of food tasted fresh and I liked the vegetables in my sandwich. The fries were also fresh and crispy with the right flavoring. Service was slow due to the busyness that evening. And the food preparers appeared to be busy. But hey, I can see they were working hard and also dealing with challenging customers who cut the line. We also got a peach-flavored tea lemonade. The only other mall-located Philly cheesesteak chain in the Sacramento area is Steak Escape, and this is not even close to my beloved Steak Escape. I've been to this Charley's location about 3 times now, and each time is more underwhelming than the last. Ireturned only because I love Philly cheesesteaks in general and had coupons, but not anymore. The last time broke the camel's back - I will not return. The workers are always so incompetent! Like I know you probably hate your life for working here, but geez! Every time the food takes forever and they mess up people's order. One lady had to wait for another cheesesteak to be made for her because she said no cheese. The workers didn't apologize, they just laughed to themselves. Their uncooked fries are kept next to their "fresh" fries, so last time I got a completely raw fry, which I happened to bite into. Gross. So your sandwich is prepared on the grill and then the worker asks you what condiments and stuff you want on it. I had to repeat myself THREE TIMES because the worker could not remember "lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise." Really... this isn't rocket science. Their meat is always ridiculously SALTY, but last time the girl forgot to sprinkle any seasoning, so it was more of a bland saltiness since they use American instead of provolone, They use chopped romaine, so all you get are hard rib pieces. The bread isn't anything spectacular either. The counter is always dirty and they seem to always run out of napkins, The workers are too busy slacking off to notice and refill. Sigh. Finally back out to the Roseville Gallaria after several years, and I came here hungry and ready to eat. After looking over the options with my sister and her daughter, we decided on Charleys Philly Steaks. This was the first time that I'd been here, and could compare it to Steak Escape which I've been to countless times at the Arden Mall here in Sacramento. So I looked into getting a sandwich similar to what I'd get there which always is the BBQ cheddar sandwich. So at Charleys I was the 12" BBQ sandwich with a peach lemonade, it looked pretty good from the picture. My sister ordered her own, and got the cheese fries with a strawberry lemonade. I think it took maybe 10mins of so to get out meal, and while it was being made my sister waited for the food and I found us a table. I wasn't there long before she arrived with fhe food. Comparing Chaleys sandwich to Steak Escape I noticed that Charleys sandwich visually looked the the lighter and "healthier" option. It may have been due to using less cheese, so the melted cheese didn't stick to everything like the lettuce and tomatoes. The sandwich definitely hit the spot, and the peach lemonade was bomb! The bits of peaches were at the bottom, so be mindful of that if taking a big sip with the straw at the bottom. But it was both sweet and sour. I tired my sisters chesse fries amd they were ok, I'm not a fan of putting nacho chesse in my fries until they're a little loaded with bits or bacon, and real melted cheese. Overall: Good choice, enjoyed Charleys BBQ sandwich more than Steak Escapes, and the peach lemonade was delicious. Would definitely give this place ghe seal of approval! read more

But I ordered a side of fries and when we got the box of fries, literally had less than a third of flurries inside the box, so I went back up to the counter, said excuse me, but this box was given to us with almost no fries in it and the gentleman working at the Fry counter who was the manager just turned around grab the fries and load it back up and give it back to us. What I have here is a chicken philly with only cheese, no mushroom, too late, I'm already home. Customer service was somewhat lacking and wait time was too long for the amount of customers (1 in front of me) and the place just opened - it was 11 am. Pretty shocking that I had to repeat my order 3x and it was still wrong. Also, never asked it was dine or to go? It was "to go" and pretty sure I was charged for dine in. For a quick bite I was in the mall. I decided to stop at Charley's Steak, there is a huge sign that says #1 Steak in the WORLD. That is a bold statement for an over priced steak sandwich. Everything is a LA carte. When you add COMBO meal as an extra it does not include a drink. The sandwich taste like cardboard no flavor. I remember when I was a kid and I LOVED this place. How my taste buds have changed. It looks so tasty but when I bite down it is a disappointment in my mouth I could barely finish the small steak sandwich I bought. I noticed when other people ordered they doctored up the sandwiches with tons of seasonings and sauce which changes the whole nature of a Steak Sandwich. This is the perfect example of how a corporation can have the right chemistry of ambiance and product....and the line staff ruin it all. I regret having to give them even one star. It started with Abraham, who was rude, dismissive, and communicated in grunts and shoulder shrugs. The incompetence went down the service line who struggled with making a sandwich. The order was wrong in so many ways. Putting mayonnaise on the bread and letting the cheese melt on the meat was clearly too complicated for this team. The entire experience was frustrating and not worth the money or time. We are not strangers to Charleys. The food is usually amazing and the staff at other locations have been good spirited and friendly. If you are craving a good Philly, the Charleys in Roseville is NOT the place to go! read more
