We got our battery and alternator check at Autozone (Mike) was really nice and tested our battery and alternator. The battery check out fine and it was the faulty alternator. Chris suggested Charlie's to help with the install. We arrived here and Kenny help us with the getting our car fixed away. I had made an appointment at another shop. They charged more money at this location than they would have at the other place and the man was extremely Aggressive. An older white man with a beard yelled out "NOO" I can't believe that's how someone would treat a person that could potentially be a future customer. I would give ZERO stars. What a terrible interaction. He doesn't know we are barely surviving, and the income we get is only made by the young man that went in to the business. I genuinely hope he treats people better. Just a heads up the oil change for a 2013 chevy would be $57 dollars total at walmart and at this business they ripped him off by charging him around $90 for an oil change. Wow what a life saver. My alternator went out when I was driving down the street on my way to work! I got it to o Reillys and they told me that it wasn't my battery that it was in fact my alternator! I asked where I should go and they said Charlie's! They jumped my car and I got it over there where I met Kenny! Now if you wanna meet a character then definitely talk with Ken! Ken definitely hooked it up and had my car fixed by the NEXT MORNING!! Most places woulda charged me for a new battery but instead they charged mine up and sent me on my way. We went there to have our transmission replaced, so you're talking $1700 plus for a new transmission, which is what we paid for...well within days the check engine light was back on. We repeatedly brought it back to him letting him know it was not repaired. First he attempted to say he did not do the work, until I presented him with a receipt. Then he kept saying it wasn't the transmission. The transmission had a one year warranty, we had another shop run diagnostic on it and they showed us how the code told it WAS a BAD transmission!! Been going to Charlie's for several years, and always felt I got good service at a fair price. Lately, prices on parts and labor don't add up. Their posted labor rates are $75.00 an hour. I had my truck in for exactly one hour to replace both headlight bulbs. I brought in my own parts so should only be charged labor. When I got the bill it was double the hourly rate even though the truck was in for one hour. When I questioned why the labor was double, I was told "it was a lot of work" How does that work?? I hate not being told up front the estimate to fix something. So does charlie's charge by the book rate? or Hourly or both? Only they know for sure. For what I was charged, I could have taken the truck into the dealership and paid the same amount of money. Sorry Charlie, you just lost a long time and very good customer. I won't write a story, so I'll keep this short and simple to the best of my ability. First and foremost, I WOULD NOT recommend this place to anyone in need of getting their car repaired. I recommend Walmart before I would this place! Second, the customer service is horrible. Third, i had an issue with my transmission which was removed and replaced with a transfer case and used transmission. Not to mention, it was steamed cleaned/ pressured washed. All this being said my vehicle leaked oil. I was offered a 6 month warranty which they DID NOT HONOR! INSTEAD they looked into it, disassembled, made up a problem, proceeded to tell me that a part needed to be replaced and that I would be charged to replace it. They also stated if I decided to bring my vehicle back to schedule another appointment. Here was my delimma. When I called, I explained my situation, I was given a date and time to drop my vehicle off so they could take a look at it and FIX the problem. My delimma is why would you "take everything apart," find out where the problem is, put the part back together and then charge me for it when the warranty should of been honored? Needles to say, I had to take it to the dealership to get it fixed and was charged an arm and a leg. However, it was fixed. Here was the aftermath to a situation that could of been resolved had integrity, customer service, and diligence been applied. If your car insurance, friend, family, coworker, whomever ....run! You doubled the price of my A/C recharge that you quoted me why? So it goes like this. I call in and talk to Lenny, a not so friendly older gentleman on the phone and explain my issue. Its an Acura that the freon was accidentally released out of during the changing of some valve cover gaskets. I knew the car just needed to be recharged and then it would be good to go. His response was well i dont know how much freon would be needed but chances are you would be looking at $65-$70. I said no problem since the going rate is from $50-80 depending where you go so the car went to the shop the very next day. Upon arrival i talked to Lenny, and said we spoke yesterday and he remembered me so i thought great we are on the same page. Let me sow you where the freon was released from and you can take it from there. He gave me a quote $160, and i said whatever the hell for. And the response was well i said i didnt know how much freon the car needed. They tacked on another $3 for an o ring that didnt need to be replaced and $15 for the all of 3 minutes it took to install it UNBELIEVABLE! My bill is this Freon $60 Oil & Dye $29.95 O-Ring $4.00 Labor $60 with tax $7.61 $161.56 I obviously tried to have words with the guy but hes got you buy the nuts as its 110 degrees out and your car needs to be fixed so your not gonna dye of heat stroke driving to work. I do all my own work on my cars except the items that i do not have the proper tools to do like properly charge the AC system, and this is why i do my own work for crooked dishonest mechanics like this. STAY AWAY! You have been warned as this WILL happen to you. read more

My A/C went out (it's the middle of the summer) so I went there desperate. First they tell me there is no refrigerant in the system and I might have a leak and it would cost 180 to fix/test. I declined and decided to buy my own refrigerant to fill up the system which cost me 60 bucks. When I tried to fill it up none would go in so I went back. After a second check they tell me my compressor was bad all of a sudden and it would cost 830 to fix it all. The whole time they were not explaining any details just "we'll fix it". Went to another shop. Turns out the system was actually full and it was just the compressor. Cost me a total of 400 total to get it fixed with a new compressor I bought and I am still out 60 bucks because I bought the refrigerant. Beware this place. read more

I had less than 24 hours until I was going to be headed out on a road trip and was stressing out that I had just found out the brake master cylinder was leaking horribly. These guys were quick, had the part ordered and my car fixed the same day. While I was on my way back to the shop once the part was ordered my car suddenly sounded awful, while it was in the shop I was told the weld on the exhaust pipe broke and for only $30 they welded it right away and my car was all set for its road trip with plenty of time to pack and run a few errands before leaving town! I'm sitting here at Charlie's Service and just had to tell you how elated I am by their honesty and integrity! First of all they are so much more reasonable than others I got an estimate from. I called as I was concerned about my brake pads. They were going to close in 2 hrs. But said come on down now. Kenny was so friendly and was genuine in caring. It ended up it was metal on metal. He called and got upgraded parts at same price as they didn't have them. . When I asked if they could go ahead and do front ones, he checked them out and said he doesn't want to charge me to do it now as they're not that bad. He said I have about 6 months left on them but bring car back in 3 mo. And he will check them again. I was very impressed by this. Don't waste your time and money. I had them swap a transmission in that I supplied; they did not offer to give the extra jug of transmission fluid I supplied back, they did not fully tighten the transmission mount so it is now clunking around, they left hoses leaky and not fully tightened and when I got my car back the air conditioner was drained of freon and the fan wouldn't work. read more

He was charged $125.82 for parts and $110.00 for labor, total was $246.01. They did not change the belts, they are still skreatching. I am new in town and so I desperately needed a good repair shop that wasn't going to take me for a ride. I got a couple estimates to fix my car kept getting told I needed to replace a bunch of stuff. And it was going to take multiple hours to fix. I took it over to Charlies and Sam the owner told me straight up what needed to be done. I had called around trying to locate a replacement at VW dealers. A new oil pan with the labor and oil change would have been just under 700$, plus waiting.
