I purchased a truck from this dealership at the end of 2015. I decided to write a review now, in 2019, because a few things have always bothered me about the transaction. Here they are. They told me there had been one previous owner, that was true. They told me it was a commuter vehicle, explicitly claiming it was not a work truck. The first time time I washed it, a business logo appeared on the back windows. It can only be seen in certain light, with a thin layer of moisture applied. But, it does seem like it was, in fact, a work truck. Next up, come time around a year after purchase. Paint on hood, bumper and above wheels faded. The paint does not appear to be original on these parts. Lost their shine. I would speculate they aren't even the original parts. I do not know the details, but reviewing the carfax I see the vehicle was partially rebuilt just before the ownership transferred from the original owner to Charlton. But they did not mention that. Did they not know? Or did they just lie to me?. I guess when the dealer tells you something to your face, you have to check the carfax and not trust what they tell you. But I did not know that. I was young and naive (still am maybe). Thirdly, the salesman mentioned he had been driving the vehicle personally prior to the sale. I would rather not know that the salesmen drive around in the vehicles until they are sold. That kind of taints the experience, eh? Fourthly, when going over financials, the salesman asked how I made my money and complimented my salary. Next, he bragged that he, in fact, made more money than I did. Well, good for him. I decided to write a review of the dealership I bought my vehicle from. Pro's: Answers your questions quickly Allows you test drive a vehicle with no fuss or hassle Works with your schedule to get the purchase process completed quickly Provided a loaner car while work was being done (see below) Con's: My sales rep lied to my face which I found out later. Had to return to get my vehicle inspected as they could not do it at sale time as the vehicle had an issue they did not fix. When using their finance they will tell you 2 hard hits which became 3 hard hits to the credit report after I was clear I would not accept more than 2. Response: Thats what happens. Did not complete the work they were supposed to do and agreed to do. The vehicle had a check engine light at purchase time, they replaced an O2 Sensor and said it was fixed. 19 miles later the light came back on. In a txt message they replied "Looks like we will have to replace the catalytic converter" They knew it was bad and tried to get away with it. I returned the vehicle and they sent it to the Manufacturer dealership for repair under factory warranty. A review of the Huffines Dealership will be separate from this one as Huffines was horribly slow. They were supposed to replace the trailer wiring that had been cut and install a replacement wiring harness for a 4 prong trailer connector. The sales guy said Yes it is right under here. Went to hook up my trailer and got under to find it.. Not there.. I just ordered myself a 7 to 4 adapter so as not to go back to this place. Not a big deal but why lie about it. What else did they lie about I wonder. During the time my new vehicle was in the dealership Charlton provided a loaner car. This car smelled of cigarette smoke so bad I could not sit in it. They did not have another and asked me to Febreeze the car. Seriously I can show you the txt message on this. So that sat outside not being used as the stench was horrendous. Maybe this was a horrid sales guy, maybe a one off occurrence but frankly I would say to go somewhere else when looking based on my experience. read more

Here's my idea of a bad day: 1. Having to spend a large sum of money on something I generally don't have a lot of use for. 2. Going into debt for said large sum of money. 3. Dealing with car salesmen. On Friday, March 27, 2015, as only happens every few years but still happens too often, those three converged on me again. Gary Charlton, however, was able to take most of the misery out of the ordeal. We still spent money and took the corresponding debt, but at the end of the deal, I was satisfied that we are better off than when we visited his dealership. This is only the second time in my life that I didn't have immediate buyer's remorse as I drove the car out of the lot. There were no high-pressure salesman, just folks wanting to do business. Gary introduced us to the vehicles but let me do my thing while I checked them out. He answered my questions quickly and honestly. There was only one mechanical problem with the vehicle we purchased, but Sergio, Gary's service manager, wouldn't let us drive it home until he took care of that for us. We had to wait a couple of days to pick it up after purchasing, and since we had traded in our one and only vehicle during this purchase, Gary took care of us with a loaner until Sergio got done. I wouldn't expect either of those classy moves from another dealership that's not one of those flashy 300% markup lots. Well done, Gary and Sergio, and thanks! I meant it when I said I would be back to buy our next vehicles from you. Beware of the traffic jams on I35E during your test drive, though! STAY AWAY! These guys are crooks! Sold me a 2016 Corvette that they said was "Perfect"! This car looked like it had gone off-roading. Under carriage was all torn up, bent wheel and wheel well with excessive damage. I didn't bother going back to the dealer for this damage and just repaired this on my own. Now I have traded the car in and Gary Charlton won't refund the money which is $5021. SCUMBAG! The warranty has been cancelled with EFG Companies and the funds went back to Charlton Motors but they won't call me back or communicate at all. Stay as far away as possible! read more

I walked into Charlton Mortos' office to test drive the 2012 BMW X3. Alex made me feel right at home from the get go. He answered all the questions and wholeheartedly went out of his way to help me test drive not only the BMW X3, but also the X5. I took my wife and kid back to the dealership a few days later to check out both the BMW X3 and X5. She even had twice more questions than I did, but Alex was extremely friendly and enthusiastic helping her. Warning! They are not closed, they just moved. Buying for Charlton Motors was one of the worst decisions i have ever made in my life. The car buying experience was bad from the start. I should've just left when the car i came to test drive was OUT OF GAS. I mean light on, out of gas! Seriously?? How do you let a potential customer test drive a car and not put any gas in it?? I fell for the bait and switch when they parked a similar vehicle next to the one i was interested in because they told me is was the same price. I find out later after test driving it that it was in fact $1000 more. There were so many things wrong with the car i ended up purchasing from them, i won't bore you with the laundry list, but it has cost me about $1800 to fix everything from a severely bent rim that won't hold air to bad bushings, lower control arms and a front bumper that wasn't even attached to the car. It was just wedged into the front end. I understand it's a used car and won't be perfect but this was ridiculous. they took no responsibility and denied everything. don't expect ANY kind of customer service after you give them your money. This was hands down the worst potential car buying experience I have ever had. Let me tell you my story... I was out taking a walk in my new neighborhood (transplanted from Los Angeles 6 months ago and newly retired). I was feeling so good. Beautiful day and I had my dream car on my mind. After seeing several on the road. I happened to walk by Charlton Motors and said why not ask about it. I was welcomed in and told the GM what I was looking for. My dream car is a Corvette. He says to me we have a Chevette and proceeds to laugh it off when he sees the look of shock on my face. I give him a pass instead of walking right out the door. I tell him this will be a FULL CASH sale. He 'seems' interested after that and starts using his computer tool to pull up a few cars. I'm thinking maybe this will be a good experience. I leave my contact info because he says he will send some pictures of available cars. I say cool, I will speak with my financial advisor and it should be a go. I get an email from him 2 days later asking if I was still interested. The few days I had in between waiting for pictures (none), his off-hand remark and speaking with my money person kind of soured me on the deal and I kind of told him that I need to wait. BUT, he responded that the car pricing goes up this time of year and to let him know when I'm ready. I gave him another pass and decided to go through with the deal the same day. I did not want to spend more than my budget. He responded like he was as excited as me and asked for my desired specs for the car. This was early day well before noon. CRICKETS! I am checking my email all day and night. Not even a thank you for the info and I will get right on it. NOTHING! I sleep on it and wake up fully expecting an email at least. You see, this is how we correspond via email. What sales person does that??!! No phone calls? Not even out of general courtesy?! Did I say this was a CASH DEAL and he gets a finders fee that I had NO issue with. Wow I WANT MY CAR!!! So, I send an email to him after 10am asking if he got my car specs. He responds 'We are good!" I will send pictures in a bit. I'm ecstatic and send back my bank has been funded with the money to buy. Here we go again...I check my email and still NOTHING All Day and evening. I have 36 years sales and customer service experience so I can definitely tell when someone is giving POOR service. UNACCEPTABLE! I send an email thanking him for his time? Ha! I also apologized for any inconvenience to him this change of mind would cause. Ask me if I got a response to that...right...NOTHING! I am so done with CM. They do not deserve 1 star as far as I'm concerned. I don't want to think they just did not want my money, but it makes me wonder. Oh, by the way I got a great hook up with someone I trust. Just purchased my ML350 from Charlton Motors. My husband and I had a great experience. I researched for months, and actually did 10 test drives with Charlton and other dealerships looking for the right SUV. We have owned 4 Lexus SUVs, but wanted to test a couple of others. Found them on Cars.com and showed some great deals. I usually don't go to a small dealership, bought all previous from Lexus dealership. But Charlton had the cars and prices I wanted and nearby, so gave it a try. I was extremely surprised and pleased at the personal experience we had. If I could leave a 0 star, I would. This has been the WORST customer service car buying experience we have ever had! On 3-3-17 we bought a Porsche suv. When driving it we noticed a "shimmy" /stutter every once in a while .We told Ricky Clark & Paul Bosco (owner) about this issue as soon as we returned. Paul quickly stated it was the echo system that these Porches have and that is what feels weird to people that aren't used to driving them. We again described it to him and he reiterated that it was that. (echo). He told us there is a button that you can push and turn this option off if you do not like it. We liked the vehicle and for some reason trusted what he said since it was a newer vehicle with low miles. Ricky also sold us the best bumper to bumper warranty that fixes anything and everything with a $100 deductible by any Porsche or certified dealer. After only being in the car for a few days after purchasing, it bothered me to much. I took it to Porsche and they quickly diagnosed it as the transfer case a $5000.00 fix. Warranty was notified and called me and asked me some ?'s. I stated the above issue to them and that I had told them (the dealer) while at the dealership. After waiting 3 weeks to hear from warranty they said that they were not covering it , due to the fact that this vehicle was only a few days off the lot, with low miles, and the dealer was responsible. Warranty said issue was pre existing. I then called and spoke to Ricky, he said bring it in, we will take care of it!! After another 2 weeks of being without my car and Charlton opening a new claim with warranty, Paul Bosco called me and told me to contact warranty and basically lie , change my statement, tell them I didn't know what I was talking about..etc...(GREAT HONEST BUSSINESS OWNER) Warranty denied new claim. Paul TEXT me today stating he wanted to work it out, & for me to come in (they still had my car at this point) I came in and he stated he wanted me to pay half of repairs which is still over $1500.00. , OR cancel my warranty and pay for the fix with that refund! I disagree that I should pay anything more than my $100 deductible. He then called again this eve and said they are trying to find a used part making it about $900, if we spilt it, (it would only be another $300 for them from the $1500, he tried to get me to agree to earlier in the day) IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING VISITING THIS LOT , BEWARE!!!!! SCAM ARTIST and 100% do not care about customer service! Paul Boscos idea of customer service is to threaten the customer with having an attorney on retainer. At this point my husband and I will be contacting the Attorney General Office as well as consumer affairs. We also will be contacting every local news station and newspaper as well as all social media sites explaining our horrific experience with these guys so no one else gets scammed by these crooks!! THE WORST OF THE WORST! i get there, the man takes me to the car, and right away i can tell the car is not worth what they advertised for. something was leaking, paint and leather was worn out. he kept making excuses for everything being the way it is, and then Terry, their sales person comes with me on the test drive and as we're leaving the parking lot he brakes the handle for the glove compartment clean off. then at the end of it asks me to stop at a McDonalds so He can eat... talk about professional... and then he decides to harass the lady giving us our order. then as we get back to the office and i tell him that I'm gonna think about it (while he's CHOWING DOWN on his food, spilling EVERYWHERE) he has the nerve to tell me that Kelly blue book NADA and some other price checking website were underpricing it. and that i don't know anything about business, which i think taking college courses beats taking meth and working at a car dealership. for 2 years. Came from out of town to see a vehicle only to find it had a cracked windshield, rim rash, and multiple dents. The car had to have been in a hail storm or something, but of course the pictures did not show this damage nor was it disclosed before coming there and I specifically asked was there any damage. Not to mention the car had no gas in it. I'm just glad I didn't buy the car and have it shipped. All I can say is don't trust the pictures nor salesmen. My wife and I purchased a Porsche Cayenne from Charlton Motors at 1425 Justin Rd Lewisville, Tx. We honestly went there looking at Range Rovers and a new Tahoe. Ricky Clark and Paul Bosco steered us in the direction of the Porsche and had my wife and I take a look at it. My wife liked what it looked liked and wanted to take it out for a drive. While we were out driving it my wife had mentioned that she felt a weird stutter every once in a while. We brought the vehicle back and told Ricky and Paul that we did like the vehicle, but noticed that it did a weird stutter a few times while we were driving it. Ricky and Paul quickly stated that vehicle is equipped with a auto start, stop function that definitely feels weird if you have never experienced driving one of these vehicles and it can easily be shut off by a push of a button and that stutter would go away. We were sold on a "top of the line bumper to bumper extended warranty" that Porsche was going to be foaming from the mouth to get their hands on if the vehicle ever had any issues. Porsche would fix any issues with a $100 deductible no questions asked. A little over a week after purchasing the vehicle we contacted a Porsche dealership and scheduled an appointment an additional week later to bring in our newly purchased vehicle to already be looked at because this stuttering that Paul and Ricky stated was nothing was driving my wife crazy. Porsche quickly diagnosed the issue and stated it was about a $5000 fix. Since we had this amazing warranty we purchased from Ricky we were not concerned initially and Porsche stated they would be contacting warranty and handling it. Warranty company after having the vehicle for a couple weeks did there investigation and decided they would not be able to fix the vehicle because of the car only being 14 days old off of the lot and us mentioning this stuttering issue to the lot this was obviously a pre-existing condition on the vehicle and the lot we purchased it from needs to take care of it. My wife contacted Ricky Clark, who we bought the vehicle from at Charlton Motors and he said they would take care of it and to bring the vehicle back to them. After having the vehicle a couple more weeks they called us and Paul Bosco asked my wife to call the warranty company back and basically lie to them about mentioning having an issue when we test drove it and try to get the warranty company to pay for the fix. That obviously raised a red flag with us. The warranty company stated it didn't matter basically about that comment there was no way that part went bad in a couple of weeks after driving off that lot and unfortunately they couldn't cover it the dealer was responsible. Paul from Charlton then figured the next best thing to do would be to shift half the cost of the fix onto us (around $2,000 our part) and honestly thought that was fixing the problem and in his mind trying to work with us. We told him basically that was not good enough and if they didn't just fix it, we would contact the Attorney General's office and the department of consumer affairs. Paul Bosco (owner) and his infinite wisdom thought that at this point the best thing to do is to threaten my wife that they have an attorney on retainer and we would spend thousands trying to fight them basically. Bravo, great customer service! My honest opinion is Charlton Motors absolutely knew this vehicle had this prior issue when they sold it to us. Convinced us to buy the warranty expecting if we ever took it in to get looked at that the warranty would just cover it and shift the cost off of them and onto the warranty company. Well, they didn't and here we are with a vehicle that we purchased from you guys (Charlton Motors) and already made a couple of payments on it and it has been in the shop more than in our driveway. This problem is not going to go away for you guys. I deal with professionals for a living and have for almost the last 20 years. You guys at Charlton Motors in Lewisville are the most unprofessional and have the worst customer service that we have ever experienced! If any future auto buyer is reading this, please do yourself a HUGE favor of avoiding stress and headaches and do not visit these guys at Charlton Motors! I wanted to buy a vehicle that while I was away working my wife and kids would be safe in. I received the exact opposite! Absolutely WONDERFUL experience!! We had been looking for a really nice car that met every expectation I had. I am very picky and customer service makes or breaks a deal. Terry, Gary and the team at Charlton Motors were all more than helpful. I wanted a white car ~ black leather luxury car but it had to have power!! We happened to catch the guys as they were getting ready to close for the day. Terry greeted us with a smile and reassured us the time was not an issue. He listened to me ramble about what I wanted and offered to take us on a test drive in a Mercedes they had recently acquired. It was visually perfect. After the drive, I knew this was the car I wanted. The price was a bit more than I had envisioned spending on my car. NO WORRIES!! Terry took us inside and ran numbers for us. It was really late so we all planned to meet the next morning. The next morning we met at 10 and even with a couple hiccups on our behalf, I drove off the lot in my baby by 3!! He obtained an UNBELIEVABLE interest rate for us on a used vehicle & they even had my window tint stripped and then retinted!! I couldn't have asked for a better car buying experience. The guys really worked hard on obtaining our business and I will ALWAYS turn to them when I decide to purchase another vehicle!! AVOID BUYING VEHICLES FROM HERE!! I bought a truck from Charlton Motors a while back. The actual price they gave me and the vehicle I bought I was pleased with the day I bought it. Then once I gave them the money and got home over my first week having the vehicle I noticed many things wrong with it. I understand it was a used vehicle but these were things that a dealership should take care of or at least mention to you when you consider buying from them. They were things that were obviously wrong and overlooked before I purchased the vehicle. The floorboard on the passenger side was all wet from leaks under the hood, brakes were squeaking, along with other things but I won't go on. Whenever I took it back to them to get the things fixed, they took no responsibility for the things and wanted to charge me to fix things they should have fixed in the first place. I decided to go ahead and pay them because I wanted the truck fixed like it should have been in the first place. They had the truck for 3 or 4 days. Which by the way was longer than I had even owned the vehicle. I had to keep calling to get an update on my vehicle and they were no help over the phone. Finally when I got the vehicle back, I found out they couldn't fix it so they took it to another place. (which I never gave them permission to do so with my vehicle). After having it a day, the floorboard was all wet and the leaks were still happening. When I called to get my money back all they wanted to do was put it back in their shop and charge me more money. This obviously wouldn't have helped anything because they told me they couldn't fix it a week before. All they want is your money. After you pay for your vehicle they couldn't care less about the customer. STAY AWAY FROM CHARLTON MOTORS!!!!! It may seem like a good idea, but it's not!!! read more

Researched this place, inquired about a car and was in the one I wanted within 48 hours. I was positively contacted and had good communication with my sales rep. He was knowledgable and for the most part, no smoke blowing. I have poor credit and I know I didn't have much of a chance but they managed to get me a deal to help me reestablish my credit and that is what I needed. By far the WORST car buying experience ever! Gary Charlton and his side-kick "RJ" are running what can best be described as The Worst used car sales business of all time. I purchased a Mercedes and within ONE DAY of driving the car off the lot, the trunk and rear of the car kept getting coated with black soot. After bringing the car back to these scumbags, they replaced the rear tires and the service person who installed the tires shared with me that he was familiar with the car and was surprised that someone (me) purchased the car since they, Charlton Motors, knowingly sold me a car that was unsafe to drive due to the fact that the entire rear differential required placement (yes, the ENTIRE rear differential!) If you want to purchase someone else's problem vehicle that was purchased by Charlton Motors through an auto auction, then buy from Charlton Motors. If you want to buy a quality used car where the sales person and dealership will treat you in a respectable manner and provide honorable quality service, stick to a reputable large dealership (Park Place and the like). read more

Over the past few months I have been researching and looking for a nice used F150 Raptor. Throughout the past 15 years I have bought and sold a lot of cars, thirteen to be exact. I've never purchased a car through a smaller dealership just because of past experience when it came to shopping for cars and the perception that "I'll get a better deal at a large dealership". Recently I found a truck that was in my price range and had all of the features of a truck that I was looking for and it happened to be at a smaller dealership. The first thing I did was look at the reviews on Charlton Motors using a Google Search and the reviews were all excellent. I sent in an inquiry on a vehicle after business hours and immediately I got a response from Brannon. He was calling to let me know that the truck was available and simply to find a time that worked for me to come and see the truck. The next day, which happened to be a Friday, I drove over to see the truck and planned to spend at least 30 minutes having someone try and "sell" me the vehicle before I even had a chance to drive it, but that wasn't the case at Charlton Motors. Brannon took my driver's license and handed me the keys to the truck so that I could take it for a spin. While I was gone he and his team were at work appraising my vehicle. Upon returning to the dealership from my test drive I was simply asked if I liked the truck, which I did. Brannon wanted the evening to work on the numbers and call me back Saturday morning. Saturday morning came and I got a text from Brannon that his little girl was sick but he was committed to his word on putting together a deal for me which says a lot about him on a Saturday afternoon with sick child. The following Monday Brannon called me with the final numbers on the truck. There was no sales pitch like you hear at a large dealership like "wow we're losing so much money on our car" so you must buy this one. He said here is the best deal we can do for you on your trade and our truck, it fit the bill so I filled out a credit app and was approved immediately. I got a great finance rate and went in on Monday and picked up my truck. Paper work took about 10 minutes. All in All I invested less time at this dealership, got the best service I have ever had and spent a fraction of the time. Don't hesitate to look at any vehicles at Charlton Motors, in fact I'd shop them before you head to the "Big Dealership", trust me it will save you time. Car transactions are usually very time consuming and stressful. Buying from Charlton I got a thank you handshake from one of the owners and it took me less than an hour of my time to purchase the truck I wanted. Thank you guys for the great truck! read more

IT doesn't deserve one star. All I can say is thank God that lemon laws do apply to the State of Texas; even though it has to be a major issue proven that you didn't know about before your purchase. Stay away from This Place. I called the sales person, Brandon about a Pontiac G6 that they are advertising and looks real good for a 2009, clean interior, fresh paint job and everything. First bad sign, the mechanic on site arrives first and tells me that he didn't have to do anything to the G6 as he does to the rest of them...as if i ask for that information. The second bad sign was on the test drive the car wouldn't start and Brandon said it's because of the cold weather, the gas tank on E, and the car needs a new battery which he offered to replace. Third Bad sign what was advertised as $5999, he has $7999 on his paperwork and says it's because the bank charges him two grand to take a deal. Which I later find out is a lie, and I hear him giggling about it to the owner about a 15% interest rate. Lastly, directly after leaving the dealership, I didn't even make it home before the car literally blows up on me and the something is wrong with the engine (Lemon). I was stuck on the interstate for 5 hrs. Until their tow truck of choice arrived to pick up the car. I then call this jerk who tells me that he didn't know anything about the engine and that it may just be a hose.And if so, the lemon law wouldn't apply. I reply that the engine is smoking and the car is not moving at all. It looks like a bomb hit it. Its not just a hose. Its the entire engine. Then, he has the balls to offer to sell me another car. LOL Really? Listen to me people, please don't waste your time with this shady, place who has no morals and would rather try to earn a dollar from honest, hardworking, God fearing folks. Please stay away. You will pay more money at a honest, reputable dealership. But your piece of mind will priceless. Do not say that you haven't been warned. read more
