Conveniently located across the harbor, just a few blocks from Faneuil Hall Market, you can enjoy a delicious clam chowder but that's not all! We also ordered oysters and man they were good!!! We were pressed with time since we had to catch a ferry to Provincetown, wish we had more time to try more delicious food. Dinner at Charthouse is a must-do when in Boston. It overlooks the pier and it's such a beautiful restaurant. The food was so delicious and fresh!! They have such an interesting drink menu as well. I ordered the Rose'loma and it was very good. For dinner I had the Lobster studded Scrod, I had never even heard of Scrod before but it did not disappoint!! It was very light and flaky. The butter sauce was perfect. Their signature dessert is the Lava cake with Heath candy and vanilla ice cream, this was chocolate on chocolate yummy goodness!! I definitely enjoyed my dinner. On our recent trip to Boston we had lunch there. The server, Derrick, had a toothpick stuck in the side of his mouth the entire time he waited on us. We were immediately turned off by this I had the fish tacos, which were over cooked, my husband had the burger, which he enjoyed. But we could not get over the tooth pick!! We came to the Chart House for a private dinner with about 30 people. The setting was beautiful and historic. A couple of people inquired about the history so the team went out of their way to give our entire group historic insights about the place. The service was prompt and attentive without being overbearing or pushy, which I've experienced elsewhere. Had a Team Graduation dinner here, we rented out the entire 3rd floor of the location. We had a Pre-Set menu and food was from that menu. I imagine the Prime Rib is better when ordered individually, it was cold when served, the Mahi was hard & also cool. I think the size of our group really just hindered all the service & made things crazy for the staff, we were close to 100 people. Drinks were great, Staff at the Bar on the 1st floor were great. Bathrooms are on the 1st floor so when you are sitting on 3 be prepared to take the stairs. We have been coming here for Christmas dinner for many years and it has become tradition for our family. Had Christmas dinner reservation for 6 PM for a party of 5 including my father who is an 82 y.o. disabled senior who uses a walker. Got a call at 5:50 while pulling into the parking lot informing us that our reservation was 40-60 minutes behind and we wouldn't get a table until close to 7 PM. Left and returned at 7 PM and was told there would be a further wait for a table. The restaurant was in complete chaos. Many people were angry. One customer was complaining about a situation where a lady sent back food because it was undercooked and their family member gave some food to the lady while waiting for her food to be refired and a waitstaff member took away her plate and told her sharing food was not allowed. Spoke with Manager on duty Emily who was wearing a red dress about our reservation. She apologized but told us it was extremely busy and we would have to wait as some tables were holding things up as they weren't leaving. After about 20 minutes of waiting my father's legs began to give out. We asked for a chair from the hostess who pointed to some vacant high top bar stools- for the 82 year old?? Really? Bartender Jen really saved the night. She got him a standard chair. She checked on a few tables and started to help organize a group to leave, helped clean up the tables with other staff, seated us and took our drink orders. She continued to work with waitress Kim to serve our table outstandingly. Food and drinks were very good. Both Jen and Kim were beyond excellent and should be highly commended and praised. On the other hand, the MOD and host staff performed extremely poor and were clearly overwhelmed and inexperienced. They definitely should not have been in their positions on such a busy day. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Chart House in Boston for Valentine's Day. Our reservation was at 8:45pm and we didn't get our entree until 10:45pm. It was embarrassing seeing the tables who were seated the same time as us receive their checks when we haven't even received our entree! We were trying to be patient and understanding given it was Valentine's Day but once we noticed the tables around us already leaving - we knew it was ridiculous at that point. Our server was no where to be found and the waitress serving the table next to us realized we were clearly not being attended to and and asked if we were okay. We ended up complaining to the manager just for them to give us 10% off... We still gladly took it and were just happy to leave the establishment. Ended up taking our dessert to go and left the restaurant at 11:05pm. Never going back here again and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Simply decadent. A ravishing experience. Our food was sensational. Service, impeccable. Dining experience, 10/10. We had the most perfect oysters, wonderful cocktails, delicious entrees. Our server was personable, friendly, professional. He knew the menu well, and everything there was to know about the business. You could tell he took pride in his work and it reflected. My husband said, and I quote "this is only the second time in my life, I have had an utterly flawless meal and dining experience" Coming from Mr Picky himself. Gene, our server, brought us homemade ice cream with our lava cake and espresso to finish off the experience. We love the location, building, decor down to the lighting. It was restaurant week and I usually come here because it was always a nice spot. I was very disappointed on Tuesday after visiting the aquarium. Normally I'd sit in but because I had my baby with me and Covid, I decided to order take out since it was a beautiful day out. The menu choices has changed significantly. I opted for the chowder, the cod and strawberry NY style cheese cake. And added the firecracker shrimp as extra. The firecracker shrimp was so very disappointing. The shrimp was very few and tiny tiny pieces coated with batter. There was no cracker in that fire. And the crispy noodles that came with it was chewy/stale. I grew up eating that as a kid and sadly it was gross. The cod was ok. Small but at least it tasted good. The mash was also ok. The entire dish was barely warm. It could be that I waited a very long time for it. I called it in at 1:10. I went there at 1:25 and was told it was just being cooked. I stood outside waiting. I paid around 1:40 when it was ready. I wished it was hot like it should be. The NY style cheesecake wasn't firm, in fact it was almost like mousse, soft. No whipped cream. The place has definitely gone down hill. I used to rave about this place to friends abs family but the last several years has been lackluster. You'd want so much for it to be better but it just doesn't seem to quite get there. read more

Truly a unique building and dining experience on the old part of the harborside. I LOVED the Sweet & Spicy Halibut glazed in sweet chili honey sauce, rum butter with ginger rice. The prime rib was so tender and just melted in my mouth, but the different fish I tried were too oily for my taste, although the salmon was nicely done, not overcooked like so many other places. We had a great meal at Chart House at Long Wharf for my friend's 70th birthday. We had a friendly, stellar waitress Selena who made the meal even more enjoyable and fun! 3 of us had the lobster which was excellent. Selena cracked 2 of them for the ladies at the table and she did a beautiful presentation. We also tried the stuffed scrod and prime rib which were delicious. We sat downstairs by the bar which was a nice quiet area to have our table since upstairs was pretty noisy and hard to hear your own conversation. We can't thank Selena enough for making the night special and indulging the jokes and photo taking of the "Medicare table" (our inside joke) read more

If you're in Boston and looking for a five star experience this is the place to go ! The main question is YES they are practicing social distancing guidelines and outdoor seating is spaced apart. The service and wait staff are EXCELLENT, David who was our server was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations on drinks and food. He was attentive, without being overly intrusive and just had a very positive attitude which is rare in today's world. He was so GOOD that when our medium well steak came out very well done & overcooked, before we could even say anything he saw It on our table and came over to apologize. The food and drinks are even better than the service if that's possible. We had the Mango mojito which was so fresh and minty it was hard to put dow. For food We had the most delicious coconut shrimp to start which is paired with three dipping sauces that will each blow your mind. For entrees we had the blackened sword fish which came with a yummy side rice which did not disappoint & the fillet mignon which was paired with the BEST garlic mashed potatoes. Due to the error with the steak we were provided a second steak meal on the house which was cooked perfectly and melt in your mouth delicious. The food was soo good I forgot to take pictures. Dessert we had a chocolate lava cake which was so incredibly decadent, but not overly sweet, with a vanilla ice cream on time. I ate at Chart House for dinner yesterday and I ordered the following: Appetizers: -Caesar salad - way too much salad dressing... was not eatable; salad was basically wilted due to being over dressed. Waitress agreed and comped the app. -crab cake- decent; tasty; no complaints. Entree: -lobster stuffed sole: my mother and I both ordered the same entree. When we received it, it was COLD on the center.... We told the waitress and she took it back to the kitchen. We then waited 5-10 minutes. Instead of a freshly made new one, it looked like they put them into the salamander for 5 minutes.... My portion had shrunken tremendously likely from their attempt to make it look it look like a new plate of food. Tasted okay, but was kind of turned off by the fact that my meal came to me cold. -kids meal salmon with mashed potatoes: was told by the waitress that this would come out first...It did not. Was then told the kitchen burned the first one.... Hence why it came out 10-15 minutes after the other two entrees. Ended up feeding my child some of my food and taking the kids meal to go since we were finished eating by the time it arrived. Dessert: Chocolate lava cake: yum. Ordered this to go because.... It was time to go after over dressed salad, cold entrees, and an extremely late kids meal. .... Not the best eating experience... especially for a 200 dollar bill..... My favorite part was being sat next to the dish dump - a little stand with a large tray where all the dishes with half eaten food, slobbed on cutlery, and old cups and glasses go to die. MMMMM....gave my food a little extra kick. It was also fun sharing ONE butter knife for the table - even though we never saw not one crumb of bread nor butter. Picture it - cutting over priced steak AND overpriced fish with one knife. One butter knife. So fun! I decided to splurge for once while in Boston and had dinner at the Chart House. The restaurant came with great reviews. I did see discrepancy between a couple of online review sites versus Yelp. One said the cost was $$ but it was actually $$$. I started with calamari along with lobster bisque. The splurge came afterwards since I ordered live Maine lobster with a salt crusted baked potato. My server was excellent and she cracked the lobster for me at the table. The was very good. The service was excellent. Everything came out piping hot like food should be which enhances the flavor IMO. The bathrooms were clean. There was hand soap, paper towels, and hand sanitizer available. Checking in at the front of the restaurant with the hostess could be a little bigger. It was cramped with just two couple and myself standing there to check in, since it's right in front of the restrooms and the the stair to the second floor. So I felt as I was doing the electric slide in that sense. I would go back but for a special occasion. I don't love food enough to pay $$$ on a regular basis since it's just me. read more

I went to Chart House for Dine Out Boston and got the 3-course lunch which included a clam chowder, lobster mac and cheese, and a cheesecake with strawberry topping at the end all for $27. I'm so glad they had this promotion because it will certainly bring me in again! I will say the clam chowder was just ok (it didn't stop me from eating the whole cup though), but the lobster mac and cheese and cheese cake were soooooo delicious! My server Joseph was so welcoming and kind. He was very attentive!! Me and a friend stayed they for a bout 3 hours for lunch and he was very patient with us! Stopped in to the Chart House last night on a rainy evening after I got off the cruise. It was a nice place. The hostess was rude to me and made a comment about my oxygen and if I would even be able to go up the stairs. I said it was fine. The waiter was very slow. The place wasn't busy when I came in. However, as I waited they sat every couple around me, when plenty of other room was available. I did not care to listen to the conversations of people next to me. I was so close to the other patrons I felt like we were at the same table. For the atmosphere and price I would want a bit more distance between tables. The food was actually very good. However, I was never offered a refill on my lemonade. I paid $60 for dinner plus tip. I give this place 3 stars because of the staff I interacted with. read more

Here from Chicago and based this reservation on reviews (4.5 stars on open table). When we got there, everything was so promising. The service and atmosphere were great. Our server went out of her way to make sure we had blue cheese stuffed olives with our martinis. We both ordered filets medium rare & lobster tails. His came out great and mine came out over cooked, mushy and grey. I sent it back & the second steak I got was completely raw & cold in the middle. Third times the charm? No! The steak came back just as raw. My server even mentioned how the kitchen staff was being lazy. I finally sent the steak back and they ended up taking it off the bill which I appreciated.
