So, the Chart house is inside the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas. Not too trendy, dining room could use some work reminded me of an upscale Cafe type of vibe. Bar area was nicer. The food was ok for me and others who were with me. Nothing special, just ok. The menu could've been updated a bit for a steak house. I would have expected more options. Our server was great he made suggestions, and he was timely. we didn't have to wait long for meals to come. Clam Chowder was the best, as was the pasta i really enjoyed both. My fiancé complained a bit, but he always complains. Lol, I enjoyed the Chart house. Nothing fantastic really stood out for me, and one visit was enough for me. This restaurant in the golden nugget has always been great food, and the massive fish tank is so nice to watch while having dinner. Some of the drinks for the table were not available but they do have a ton of other options. This time around the food was taking longer than expected but once it got there it was worth the wait. I'll admit I'm no longer a big fan of Las Vegas. However, we came in for the Eagles concert at Sphere, which was incredible, and when in Vegas I love to have a steak. We hadn't been downtown in awhile so I Yelped for a suggestion. After reading a few reviews, we settled on the Chart House in the Golden Nugget. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with a friendly smile and welcome by the hostess, and the Mater D and they directed us to a fabulous table by the amazing aquarium. It was full of various species of fish and the glass was crystal clear and really added to the ambiance of the meal. We started with a mojito and glass of sauvignon blanc, which were both delicious. Known for their prime rib, we went for the three course meal for $70 with the chopped salad, the 10 ounce prime rib and the molten lava cake. To say that we were pleased is a dramatic understatement. The house salad came out crisp and cold with a delicious house dressing filled with all of the vegetables you would imagine and my wife held the onions. It was a great start to the meal. Then came the prime rib which was seasoned and flavored beautifully and cooked to a medium rare perfection for me and medium for my wife. Literally one of the best steaks we've ever had. The mashed potatoes that accompanied it were deliciously flavored with garlic and butter, and were the perfect compliment. Then came the molten lava cake. Again, one of the best we've ever had, and the star was the chocolate topping with toffee bits in the chocolate fudge. The cake was juicy and moist and full of flavor and the combination of the ice cream and the topping with the toffee bits was as absolutely incredible. Outstanding experience and I didn't even order a lush cocktail. Due to my scenario of not being able to take leftovers, my guest and I tried (we really tried) to be a bit more modest. To start, I had a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. Made to perfection. We split one of the three course meal options that started with a house salad then a shrimp-pasta dish and finished off with the must-have mini (not mini at all) lava cake. The ice cream tasted homemade and the cake was moist in all the right ways. We also split the smallest filet they had on the menu. Despite my company preferring her meat on the well done side, we ordered medium well. It was hot off the grill and delicious. Jayme, our server, was WELL versed on the menu, specials, and really helped take our dining experience to the next level. The "fish tank" aka aquarium bc was totally mesmerizing and although it was nautical themed, I'll be honest, I barely noticed. It wasn't too cliche at all. We came in for the pool and shark tank and thought chart house would be great for the kids to watch the fish and keep them occupied. It worked- the fish aquarium was a nice visual while we ate. The food was ok - but the server and service was great. She knew her menu and food allergies and accommodated. Our birthday girl had the ice cream cake which should be on the menu. She enjoyed that the most over her filet. This is the second time I've been here- and the first time my daughter was so little and mesmerized by the fish. I know I'll be back. When asked they referred to a small notation posted at the bottom of a menu posted at the entrance that states "prices are subject to change". It took us awhile to find the Chart House at the Golden Nugget, we walked through the hallways and passed every other restaurant BUT the Chart House, when finally a very kind employee pointed us in the right direction and THANK GOD they did! We arrived at the most beautiful bar and lounge with a GIANT fish tank behind the bar at HAPPY HOUR!!! Not only that, but when we arrived, they had exactly one, fantastic and comfortable table open! It was as though they knew we were coming! The Happy Hour here is spectacular; I got a beautiful and delicious sangria for $7 and my husband got a Margarita for $8. For bar snacks we went with tuna nachos and ground chicken lettuce wraps, which were generous and delicious at $8 each. An all around win! I had previously dined here years ago and enjoyed a delicious meal, so I decided to return for my birthday dinner with my family, including my 5-year-old son. Unfortunately, this experience was completely disappointing. The food was the worst and most overpriced meal I've ever had. I ordered the lobster, and the server repeatedly emphasized the price several times during the order. Money was never a concern for us, so the repeated focus on the price felt uncomfortable, which felt to us as if the server assumed we couldn't afford it. My son and boyfriend were served their meals before mine, and I was told mine was delayed because the chef wasn't satisfied with the plating. My food finally arrived about 15-20 minutes later, and I was shocked by what I saw. There was hardly anything on the plate. Honestly, I'm curious to know what the original dish looked like, given what I received. We spent around $450 on the meal with tip, and it was beyond disappointing. The soup was essentially water, both the tomato and clam chowder lacked any flavor, and my boyfriend's seafood platter was overcooked, resembling something rushly thrown together. My son's kids' mac and cheese was the best thing on the table. Glad my son enjoyed his meal. His was far better than both mine and my boyfriend's. I will not be returning. The quality of food does not justify the price, and the restaurant's dress code (if it's not enforced) needs to be reconsidered. We were vastly overdressed for the experience. read more

While roaming the Las Vegas downtown area we ended up at Chart house in the Golden Nugget. My wife and myself decided to sit at the bar top because of the beautiful view of the aquarium. We were greeted by Amanda and Maggie. They were a ton of fun, knowledge about all the fish in the aquarium and best of all gave us top tier appetizers and food recommendations. To start it off we had some of their specialty cocktail's. The Rose'loma was my favorite. We had two appetizers and let me tell you if I come back I'm getting them again. The crab cake was perfect, and the octopus from the Belly + beast was perfectly cooked with an amazing chimichurri sauce drizzled on top, it also came with a side of pork belly that was fabulous. For our entrees we went with the 10oz prime rib. Medium well of coarse. Which was cooked perfectly and served with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. For our second entree we went with the Seared Ahi. It was served with furikake rice, wasabi cream and a ginger soy sauce. Tasted amazing. For dessert the mini lava cake was delicious and perfect size after all we ate. They use shell shrimp , but there's a lot of it. You eat with a spoon! There are a lot of chips too. The cocktail sauce is good . It has some kick! This is a big cocktail. A meal in and of itself! I can't eat all those chips. For my next drink, I'm having the Mango Mojito. This is made with Cruzan Mango Rum, Monin Mojito and fresh mint lime juice. This is tasty! It's not too strong. They serve these drinks in 14oz glasses (cuts cost; maybe you buy more of them). For my next food item, I'm having the Prime Rib Sliders . These are made with caramelized onions, Jack cheese and horseradish sauce. For my next drink , I'm having the Tableside (uh "barside") Torched Apple Manhattan made with Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon, Berentzen Apple Liqueur and Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth with applewood smoke. This guy is very knowledgeable! This is awesome! They use a large globular ice cube to keep the drink from diluting too quickly. It tastes great ! For my next item, I'm having a bowl of Clam Chowder ( the true test of a seafood restaurant). This is great! It comes with a huge amount of various breads and crackers! For my final item, I'm getting the Half Dozen Oysters on the Half Shell. These are Bluepoints or "West Atlantic" (well, that's technically true) per the Mexican food runner. These are delicious! For dessert, I'm having creme brûlée. But wait, this is served in three small dishes each with a different flavor - vanilla, strawberry rose and "burnt" orange . I've never heard or seen this before. I loved the ginormous aquarium in the middle of the dining room with lots and lots of fish inside. My servers name was Dorleen and she was super attentive and present!! THANKS DORLEEN!!!! I believe that you get what you pay for and eventhough The CH may seem a bit pricey to some; however to others this may be a drop in the bucket because EVERYTHING I ordered was fantastic! There's tables near the aquarium and away from it. There's also a decent sized bar area in case you don't want to get a table. The food was amazing. Everything was cooked perfectly. This could have easily been a 4 or 5 star if the review was only for the food. But our experience with the service diminishes the score. I made a 5:15 reservation since we had tickets to a 7pm show just a 5 minute walk away. I thought planning about 90 minutes for dinner would be enough, especially since we arrived 10 minutes early and were one of only 3 tables at that time. We did get our cocktails, a bread basket, and an appetizer within the first few minutes. I ordered what they call "chart the course"- a choice of soup/salad - I chose a Caesar, a choice of a few entrees - I went with Prime Rib, and it includes a mini chocolate lava cake for dessert. My husband ordered a NY strip steak and added mushrooms as a side. My salad arrived promptly and it was delicious- the dressing had a nice peppery bite. Then we waited well over 15 minutes for our steaks - which we ordered medium rare. We were not checked on or asked if we wanted another cocktail during that wait. When our steaks arrived, they were perfectly cooked and came with a side of delicious garlic mashed potatoes- but we had to remind our server about the mushrooms, which didn't make it out for an additional 10 minutes. Our server never returned to check on us for the next 20 minutes or so we were at the table enjoying our entrees. I assumed my included dessert would arrive- I even did the "put your silverware on the plate to signify you are finished" routine but no one came by our table. So now with literally only minutes until we had to leave to make our show, we flagged her down for the check. The dessert was never served, and I mentioned that unfortunately we couldn't wait for it. It had already been over 90 minutes, which seems like enough time to serve 3 pretty basic courses. She replied, "I could box it up but it comes with ice cream so it will melt." I again reiterated that we had show tickets so obviously can't take a dessert to go. No apologies or a small deduction from our total bill for the omission. She was incredibly nice when she initially interacted with us, but the restaurant did get busy over the course of our visit so it seems she forgot about us. BEST HAPPY HOUR! The happy hour is from 4-6pm on weekdays only. You sit at a wonderful bar with full view of a big fish tank! Besides the fish, every other aspect is wonderful ranging from the times on the floor, to the chandelier behind the bar. Very chic and elegant. The drinks we got were delicious! I've been to a few locations in California and unfortunately the food is just meh. However, The aquarium is beautiful and huge. Wish we sat a little further away from it so we could enjoy the entire view. Food: *Seafood Salad Trio- Shrimp, Tuna, Hearts of Palm and few other items. *Miso Maple glazed Salmon *Specialty Platter - Tempura Lobster Tail, Fish, Coconut Shrimp, Calamari and skinny fries. The Shrimp on the Seafood Trio tasted a meh that I tasted a bite size and I didn't like the taste. I loved the Ahi and Asian Slaw. The Salmon was good too but I needed extra lemon. The only thing I ate on the Platter is the Coconut Shrimp. Everything else was meh and I love Calamari and Lobster. Overall, I'd return and try other dishes. Sea Bass Swordfish (a little dry overcook) House salad - very tasty but almost more onion than lettuce Clam Chowder The waitress recommended a great Prosecco and a Sauvignon Blanc to go with the fish entrees. The experience was not as nice as one would hope. Sat at nice booth in a great spot. As we ate, the shrimp and scallops were very good. The paneed chicken was also cooked well. The waitress was kind. It was a bit disappointing to be asked if there is anything else we needed (not by the waitress, but possibly the hostess) and then told that they had other reservations that needed to be seated so we were asked to leave since we were done. We were in a conversation and other tables before us were still there. Being a table of color, we were dressef nice and to be veterans and be treated that way is a bad look on the restaurant. Located inside the Golden Nugget we had our family dinner and celebrated both my Aunt and Mom's bday mine was left out lol but it's cool I got my king crab legs lol. The place I didn't expect it to be I was thinking an enclosed restaurant like most Chart Houses. Well this one is different upon entering you enter through the open bar area which behind has a huge aquarium to mesmerizes you with all the different fishes and a sting ray swimming around. The staff was great our server was awesome I didn't get her name but she was on top of things always checked on us and actually kinda gave us the Ohana vibe I'm pretty sure she had the Hawaiian spirit in her. I started with the lobster bisque which was good then the King crab legs which was the Wild Caught King Crab. Oh the cuts were perfect to get the meat out this was less messy crab legs I've ever had. Then end with dessert the hot chocolate lava cake so yummy. Overall a great dining experience despite our big party of 12. This place far exceeded my expectations. I didn't expect too much because it's a chain, but the meat is cooked perfectly and the fish tank is very pretty! I can say the ambiance really positively contributed to the experience. They accidentally spilled some water on us, but immediately rectified it by moving us to a clean table, and dessert on the house. They were even nice enough to throw in half a steak! I don't even really like chocolate, but I liked their chocolate lava cake! The only reason it's 4 stars rather than 5 is because our waiter wrote 20% in pen on our bill and then pointed at it and reminded us of the amount of money 20% of our bill comes out to. We gave the guy over 25% tip even though it was a little uncomfortable because we figured the guy just needs some coin and also it's not his fault and I'd suggest the restaurant has a tipping guide printed so no one feels a need to ask for a minimum wage. To clarify, this is not a criticism of any server, but more a suggestion to management.
