The Chart House was a bit of a disappointment. My husband and I were looking for a nice and relaxing dining experience for our last night in Savannah. We decided on Chart House because they had a special that interested us. We made our reservations for 8:15 thinking the dinner rush would have calmed down by then. 1) We has to wait an additional 30 minutes to be seated for our reservation. There were was an empty table at the entrance that stayed empty with 4 parties (including us) waiting to be seated. 2) Once seated, our waiter informed us the special wasn't taking place this weekend because it was a holiday weekend (Easter), but this wasn't communicated on the website at all. The waiter was very unapologetic. The reason I'm giving it as many stars as I am is because of the steak. We got a Caesar salad to start- this was extremely salty, would not recommend. As previously stated, the steaks themselves were really good. Overall we were disappointed. Very unapologetic service. Never once heard from a manager, even though she watched us from the host desk wait for 30 minutes. Won't be going back. read more

Zoey was our server and she was just so friendly and prompt - as were all the staff that touched the table throughout the evening. A spectacular wine list - and beautiful range of local seafood. Had dinner here last night with a friend for the first time. Very small gluten free menu and I didn't see anything that I couldn't just make at home myself. So I ended up asking our waiter if the chef could edit one of their main dishes to fit my allergy. The waiter Matthew wasn't my favorite honestly. He wasn't very friendly or personable. I got along with the hostess better then him. He didn't go out of his way to show me items that I should try or recommend anything. Which to me is a biggie.. I've never been there before so I expect to be wowed on why I need to come back again. Instead the services was basic, basic... when I asked him if he could talk with the chef on making my dish gf you could tell he didn't really want too. Only after telling him twice that I would like him to check with the chef did he finally agree too. I ended up ordering the Shrimp & Scallops which would have come with an peach Bourbon glaze but I had them edit it to just simple seasoning. Still tasted great and I very much enjoyed the dish. My date got the pecan encrusted fish with a side of mash and Asparagus. He cleaned his plate so I take it he enjoyed his food. Would I go again.. most likely not. It was pretty basic for seafood not super friendly for a gluten allergy person. But if you like fried, encrusted or stuff fish then it's the place for you. read more

Would not recommend and would avoid all together. We were in town for a bachelorette and had made a reservation for our group. When we arrived at the restaurant on time they did not have our table ready for 20 minutes. And when we spoke with the hosts and manager about our table not being ready both gave us attitude and were unpleasant. Then after finally seating us we waited 40 minutes for a bottle of wine and two cocktails. The manager offered to give us apps to help make up but then they tried charging us for the "complimentary apps" just an overall bad experience and put a damper on our weekend celebrating the bride for a nice dinner. read more

Not the fine dining experience we expected. The restaurant ran out of the menu item I selected but didn't let us know until 30-40 minutes after we ordered. We waited almost an entire hour for an over-cooked piece of trout, a mound of mashed potatoes and a few green beans. We were not mad...just very disappointed. The Chart House in Savannah, off River Street is simply put, beautiful! Inside or on their outside, covered porch. The view of the river is unobstructed and entertaining with huge container ships, quietly going by and fun people watching. Our meals were perfect! Shrimp, Grouper, Steaks, the works. While in Savannah for training I thought I would drive to Chart House for a celebratory Old Fashion cocktail and dinner. Although it was a 22 minute drive I thought it would be worth it to visit one of my favorite restaurants. I've been to the Portland and Jacksonville locations multiple times and it's always been great. After ordering my drink at the bar I noticed something was off with the looks and taste of my cocktail. After questioning the bar tender I was advised that they didn't get their fruit in that day and they were out of cherries. So, there was no orange peel and no cherry in my drink. She apologized and took the cocktail off my bill. Upon leaving I approached the manager at the hostess station and told him what had happened as I was very disappointed at not being able to have the cocktail I had driven so far to have. He proceeded to explain to me that they had to decline the fruit delivery earlier in the day as it was not up to their standards. I then told him "look this is Chart House, could someone have gone to nearby market and gotten the fruit needed to stock the bar"? "This is Chart House, come on man". Awful experience had an 8pm reservation tonight with my wife. A single without a reservation who came after sat immediately. Then a 8 top with an 830 reservation was sat immediately. Over 40 tables empty on 3 floors but told us they were "cleaning our table". If you cant find help then dont take reservations. What an embarrassment. read more

The entire visit was underwhelming, food was just ok and the service was not very good. Our server introduced himself and then disappeared. Other people did step in but they kept forgetting- since we weren't there actual table. The front end staff was confused and more interested in talking amongst themselves than checking in guests. I once again had another amazing experience at the Chart House last Saturday night. This time I was alone and sat at the bar where the bartender Kim waited on me. She was great at not only service, but also a great conversationalist as well that kept me entertained throughout my dining experience at Chart House. This time once again I had the Fried Green Tomatoes that have to be the best I've ever had. Not only to exhibit the southern flair that comes with fried green tomatoes, but also a spiciness from south of the boarder with the salsa and Savannah charm with the coastal shrimp they are topped with. read more

We had been there before the pandemic and it was lovely. We had a leisurely meal that was hot and delicious, we'll worth the small fortune they charged. Now, with the new social distancing and limited tables you'll get a limited menu and food that comes out too fast to be cooked fresh. They're trying to make up for lost tables and I get it, but we were in and out of there in 45 minutes and we ordered apps. My kids ordered soup and it was very spicy. She crab soup isn't usually spicy so nobody really enjoyed it, then as soon as the soup was down, the other apps and salads came. We had six plates on our table within ten minutes of sitting down. Old Parmesan on the Cesar salad, greasy calamari and overly microwaved bread. Then the main course immediately out, which says they weren't cooking to order, this was like catering. Whatever they can flash fry, sear or reheat. Prime rib came out weird, all one color and the potatoes were clearly reheated. It was just such a lackluster meal it really turned me off to restaurants in Corona times. It's not worth the risk, price or health issues if the foods not fresh or cooked well. read more

I'm wife and I have had some really great meals at Chart House locations around the country but we were not impressed with this location. The service & food were pretty good but the chopped salad served to my wife was soggy and obviously had been sitting in the kitchen for awhile. When we mentioned that to our server Maddie she didn't seem very concerned and didn't take the salad off the bill. Disappointing to say the least. Throughout our dinner we could hear the kitchen staff talking and joking around. Poor design to have the kitchen wide open to the dining area on the 2nd floor. Placed drive no/app/main course order at the the same time.....only to have the server show back up 20 mins later to say they were out of their signature item - prime rib....at 7:30 at night! The environment is really nice. The food is pretty solid. Prices are moderate. The service was really odd. Our waiter asked to take the bread basket several times before we actually ate our food. I also got a beer I ordered halfway through my meal after the check came - they did take it off the bill and gave it to me to go. We got the prime rib and blackened Mahi. Both dishes were solid. For the app - we had the spinach artichoke dip. It came in a hot cast iron skillet but was mostly cold. Overall the experience was okay. The chocolate lava cake was Great. read more

Brought my wife, friend and daughter here for dinner on out two-night stay. Chose them after having had many locations to choose from, based primarily on many wonderful prior experiences. History, sad to say, is not an accurate predictor of the future. While my companions foods were wonderful, my dinner was abolished through a comedy of errors. Soups were good- gazpacho was fresh and vibrant, but she crab soup had a vinegary taste and metallic finish. Fried green tomatoes were standard Savannah fare. Entrees for the ladies were good: fish well prepared, daughters shrimp pasta light and tender (but with GARLIC - yes, all caps. 'Nuf said about that). I ordered Hemingway snapper and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Specifically requested wine be brought out with entree (even my companions heard me say it clearly, and it was acknowledged). Entrees came out - no wine. I waited 5 minutes for someone to come by (manager?) - she said she would check the bar. She never returned. Five minutes later (my companions almost halfway through their entrees), our server came by and asked how things were. Turns out she never ordered my wine. At this point, having apparently been the victim of a snow job by the manager (?), and with a clearly overcooked snapper fillet and pyramid of rapidly cooling red rice, I simply told our server to remove my dish entirely and just bring my wine (a good Sauvignon can ease many ills). Desserts were brought (6 candles for a 15 year old's celebration), and charged. Lava cake was more of a hot brownie filled with chocolate caulking. Faux cobbler had several green splotches on top (see photo). No accommodation for the oversight. Full price. I left happy that my family enjoyed (generally) their food- but I also left hungry, angry and disappointed. We travel to Savannah often, and I am frequently in a position to recommend places to dine. Based on this experience, I will cut bait and fish elsewhere when it comes to The Chart House. This was unforgivable (particularly given that NOT ONCE was a manager (?) at the table to address the issue and make sure the experience returned to a positive note. Management needs to be far more responsive to potential issues and customer service. Chart House definitely dropped the ball this evening. One star ONLY because this is in Savannah and we love this city. Otherwise, Failing grade all around. One star because my companions apparently liked their food - I wouldn't know; I didn't have dinner. wow. read more

Food was okay but way over priced Watch out for the garlic mashed potatoes because you will find whole cloves of garlic. The She Crab soup is not delicate like it should be. Was okay but not what we are accustomed to. The prime rib was very fatty. Service was ok, not much to brag about. No salt and pepper and could not ask because every time she came to check on us she left in a hurry. Only got 1 refill on water and after we got our desert we never saw her again. Sadly they wear gloves and refuse to take them off when asked. Gloves are a one time use only and wearing them non stop is extremely dangerous. I am not happy at all per the server that the home office makes them wear them when the CDC has stated your hands are easier to clean and maintain cleanliness than one use gloves. FABULOUS!! Although this gem is not high on your rankings, we were in town for a concert and could only get in the CH for an early dinner reservation. The entire experience exceeded our expectations. From the drinks to the food, everything was delicious! Our group had the lemon crusted Salmon, prime rib, and Alaskan cod. We all kept saying how delectable each entree was. We had a dinner reservations on NYE for 4 people at 8PM. Upon arrival, we were told that they were "running behind" and so there would be a wait. Our wait time was about 20 minutes when my husband again inquired about our table, and shortly thereafter we were seated. Our waitress was pleasant but useless. She kept promising to bring water and our ordered drinks, but then took forever to arrive. She also promised bread which was the same scenario. Dinner was a fixed menu, and was good. My husband had fish, I had prime rib and our friends had mixed seafood dinner. The waitress was not at all attentive to our table, and none of us had water refills or offer of additional drink orders. Overall, the atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice, but it wasn't the best meal we had while in Savannah. That night, my husband had food poisoning about 3 hours after leaving the restaurant. He was violently ill for a good hour. I felt so bad that he was sick. We considered calling the restaurant to inform them that my husband had food poisoning, but decided against it as it seemed that the staff really didn't care about their clientele. Altogether, a very unfortunate choice for dinner in terms of service and food quality. read more

I was in Savannah on vacation with my mother and took her out for a nice steak dinner. Of course she orders lobster. She thought it was overcooked a bit. I ordered the 'tapestry of king salmon' sans feta. The salmon was VERY salty, almost to the point where it overpowered the lemon vinaigrette. You had to really be focused on the lemon to taste it. I started with the chopped salad which was good; however, my server forgot to bring it out so it ended up arriving right before the entrees. There are so many restaurants to dine at in Savannah. HORRIBLE experience! Had a reservation for 12 people at 8:00 - celebrating daughter's graduation with extended family! Confirmed 4 hours before. Showed up on time and waited 1 1/2 hours for our table - YES, 90 minutes - YES, it was 9:30 before we sat down!! While waiting, bartender couldn't make a proper Old Fashioned and was offended when asked to fix the drinks! Was the food worth the wait?? NO!! Steaks were delivered wrong, potatoes were cold, grilled shrimp smelled funky, and the famous lava cake was missing the lava! The free appetizers offered for the long wait were actually very good - coconut shrimp, crab cakes, and hummus! We could have chosen any restaurant in Savannah for this special occasion, but we chose the Chart House because of our great experiences at their other locations!
