Fried oysters were inedible; I asked for them to be removed from the bill and the server said "aw well how about a box?" I said, no they are inedible, we do not want to eat them. She said it's their policy to never refund food. I heard the discussion she had with the bar manager and she didn't try to help us, they both basically talked bad about us and the manager refused to take it off. About 30 minutes later, when she brought our bill, she said they would substitute them for another appetizer to go. So we did that. The place is deceiving from the outside. It looks like a nice spot, but inside it's more like a dive bar with regulars screaming at golf on tv. Service was slow and mediocre. We ordered some appetizers and side salads but were there for over an hour because she rarely ever came back to our table. It took 46 minutes to get our bill. The Bosticks were alright. Crispy on the outside. Tasted kinda sweet to me though, so they weren't my favorite. I didn't try the onion rings because the batter looked gross. Side salad with creamy Italian dressing was fine. Fries were thick but tasted ok, not very crispy. Would not ever come back or recommend. read more

Was there this past Sunday we drove from Toledo I wanted to surprise my friend we have both never been there and we're excited. We were being patient because we were told that cooks had walked out the night before and the owners were in the kitchen cooking the problem is is that our server was back there helping and we got totally forgotten whereas other servers were getting food to their tables and just walk right past ours.. we got our drinks we got our appetizers and then put in our one perch platter to split there was only two of us but yet the four tops that came to the patio way after us had their full meals in front of them. You both work in the restaurant business so we are being as patient as possible I even had no problem going up to the bar and asking the bartender to refill our drinks but when we waited 45 minutes for our Perch platter that never arrived I had no choice but to leave I had to get back to my elderly mother they had the audacity to even give us a bill what a joke. If you pull your servers into a kitchen to help you because you're short staffed maybe you should make sure somebody else is looking after that servers table. I left extremely upset because I had no time to stop anywhere else to eat I had to get back home I have never in my life not tipped since I've been a server for 40 years and we were more than patient I promise you read more

In our ongoing quest to find fried clams, my wife recently discovered Chateau Louise, and we couldn't believe we hadn't visited sooner. Open for over 80 years, just 15 minutes from our home in Toledo, we've visit Luna Pier often, but have clearly just driven by CL every time. Now that we've discovered it though, I suspect we will be back often. We tried many different deep fried foods on our first visit, from the clams, which were awesome by the way, to pickles, shrimp and fish. All good. The batter is crispy and salty and has an almost cracker like crunch, very unlike the puffier batter that is more common in the area. We also loved our salads with the chickpeas, and, while you have to request it, the free 'relish tray' is recommend for the fresh break it offers your palette. Also highly recommended, and the complete unexpected star of my meal, was the insanely fabulous coleslaw. It's hard to fully describe how delicious it is, but if you're a fan of savory slaw, you absolutely have to try this out. I found it more useful to pair with my fried fish, than the homemade tartar, which was also great. Honestly, it was ALL great, and you should definitely check it out if you're looking for a quaint break from the hustle and bustle of Toledo. I would recommend you go early, as we found service around 5 to be perfect, but things really started filling up as we left. read more

There was lots of tasty-looking food coming out of the kitchen. Too bad it wasn't mine. So this low rating is just on my food tonight. Not the whole menu. As I'm trying to keep a low carb keto diet, they were more than accommodating to let me sub the Cole Slaw for the fries that come with the burger. That's the good news. The bad news is the slaw was bland. The menu said something about it being their own recipe. I think they need to add salt and pepper to the recipe at minimum. Or switch to a traditional creamy slaw recipe like GANDER'S across the street. The burger I chose was the Louise Burger, described as a Three Meat Burger. A combination of ground round, brisket and short rib. Sounds delicious. Right? I think I got duped. My burger tasted like plain old ground beef, and not the tasty 80-20 kind. And again, a little salt and pepper during cooking would have made a world of difference. This place was packed for a Tuesday night. Both inside and out on the patio, which is conveniently on the Lake Erie side of the building to keep you out of the hot evening sun. read more

I come there once a year. Food is good and plentiful. Stories abound about the old place. A nice drive from Dearborn. Servers are always nice and we have returned for over 30 years, now. See if anyone remembers about 75 being snowed in and people taking shelter at the Chateau. Not really a Chateau. read more

As others have indicated the new owners have done a lot to update this place . I concur it looks much nicer mostly old recipes and everybody loved are still here plus some new stuff. They even added an outdoor patio and ice cream. A better stop now and close to I-75. read more

Cute area and a short walk from the beach. It is much more quiet than some of the other very loud live band playing restaurants near by, if you are looking for less of a loud bar scene. Super nice attentive staff. The food is good, American style vibe, and has a good price for the value. Maybe could have more quality options for fresh fish because of the proximity to the beach. read more

This is the cutest little spot or lunch! We went here today and I had the veggie flat bread and it was SOOO good! I'm sure their other flatbreads are just as good! RACIST establishment. I rarely ever leave reviews, but this has to be done. My husband and I are new to the area and wanted to try a restaurant by the pier. I called the restaurant when I was less than 2 minutes away and was told it was not busy and a reservation was not required. As soon as my husband and I walked in, the hostess walked away and said she will be back. She never did come back. We instantly received lots of stares from customers and employees. Nonetheless, when another hostess came up, we asked for a table for 2 and were told there was a 30-45 minute wait, so we couldn't be seated even though there were several open tables in sight and I had called about 5-7 minutes prior to confirm seating availability. The manager then came up, took our name for the waitlist and said we can wait at the bar. The walk to the bar towards the back of the building was filled with uncomfortable stares so we left and decided not to spend our money to support such establishment. Soon as we walked out, what happened to be some sort of surveillance in a go cart watched us walk to our car and drive off before also leaving the premises. Surveillance, customers and employees made it very obvious that they were staring. It's been over an hour now and we still have not received a text or call about our table being ready. Restaurant is in great shape and the new owners have done a ton of work to bring her back to life. I was introduced to the filet mignon about 25 yrs ago and The Chateau has been known in my kind for that ever since. This time I tried the seafood. The seafood was as good or better then most with in a 50 mile radius but maybe to close to one local competitor when it comes to price. The breading is unique and adds a very good flavor to the perch, scallops and shrimp. Just a little more in price then what would be expected for the quantity. The drink is a toasted snowball that was discovered many years ago by us here but we can't find it anywhere else. All in all kudos to the new owners and even more to the patrons as the meals are great and the service is awesome. read more

We stopped in for dinner, the host of the Airbnb we are staying in nearby suggested the seafood here. The servers were very sweet and attentive, quick to make suggestions. We tried a variety of seafood- shrimp, perch and scallops were all delicious. My son had the baseball steak, which is a cut we've never seen in our area, he devoured it. The fried pickles were the best I've ever had and trust me, I am a fried pickle connoisseur! The kids had ice cream for dessert, also delicious and affordable. first of all, the service I received was terrible. I have never been through such a terrible experience in my life. I ordered the scallops off the menu and it only came with six pieces of scallops and two sides. The scallops were undercooked and the broccoli was definitely expired because when they were served to me. They were basically yellow. I explained to the server that I didn't like the way the scallops were cooked in the broccoli were past their due date. I tried not to make a big fuss about it. I just wanted to take off my bill because I didn't eat it and then someone came out and said that "we can't take it off your bill just because you didn't like it" and asked me "have you ever had scallops before? they're supposed to taste like that" but she said she's never had them. She had also told me that she spoke to her manager and she said they couldn't do anything about it. I have been a server for five years never in my life have I told a customer or something like that. she was very rude and was trying to undermine me for 30 minutes telling me she can box the scallops i didn't eat up for me or cook them more. They have been sitting there for 20 minutes by then. I simply didn't want it but they were telling me it HAD to stay on the bill. So finally after arguing with her I asked to see the manager and that I was willing to wait and then not even three minutes later she came back with the bill saying it was taken off.
