Killer Sammie once again! I put in an online order to pick up and it was spot on. I love this place.

This is a good pre-concert place to stop. We met up with friends for dinner before heading out for live music. The subs are generous in portions. We split a 12" and they wrapped the two halves individually for us. We tried the La Canna, an Italian sub with smoked ham, genoa salami, prosciutto, black olive, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, Shake & House Dressing. It was tasty. We also split one of their huge chocolate chunk cookies. They have soft drinks as well as grown up beverages. Their selection of local taps were really good. I had a Sad Panda from Horse & Dragon. It was great. My husband had a Juicy Bits from Weldwerks. The Juicy Bits may have been on past its prime because the flavor tasted like it was waning. So, I'm not a marijuana fan. It's not my thing. This place is meant for marijuana fans. Excessively lol. From the artwork to the sandwich names, to the SNACK CHOICES. I've been to a couple before, including this location, and wasn't TOO impressed. But this time is the first time I actually got a sandwich from this place. And I WAS impressed. First of all, the staff is SUPER friendly. Possibly high. I got a basic sandwich because that's my thing. Ham and cheddar on white bread, with chipotle mayo to spice things up and some of that shaked italian seasoning stuff. I didn't even realize this place TOASTS their stuff until they placed it in front of me at our table. It was warm, cripsy, flavorful and I was HUNGRY, so I had it devoured in about 6 minutes flat. Also got a Kool-Aid. Kudos for having the OPTION of Kool-Aid. Does it pass the hood/southern black-folk test? Nah, you won't get diabetes from it or anything. It's worth getting just because when's the last time you've had KOOL AID at all? Also got both the Fruity Pebbles and Cap'n Crunch Rice Krispies treats because I've had the Fruity Pebbles one before, and it's crack. The Cap'n Crunch one, highly recommended by the cashier, did not disappoint either. Stripping the overall weed theme from the review, this place is friendly, and TASTY. Okay, let me start with this - in 2019, the founder of Cheba Hut dubbed the marketing team of failed chain Quizno's "bandwagon douchebags" for releasing a limited-time sandwich named "Magic Mushroom", which shared the name of one of Cheba Hut's many dozens of sandwiches. Cheba Hut's owner, or his marketing team or whatever, sent stripper cops (male adult performers, haha gay~!) to a Quizno's location for some reason? Quizno's, whose Magic Mushroom sandwich included rainbow food coloring that made it look moldy, responded by making their social media manager make some mushroom puns. Overall, confusing, and kind of unpleasant! Anyways, yuck! You don't get 5 stars from me, like the braggardly founder of Snarf's, who didn't do this. Onto the food - pretty good! I'm impressed with how pizza-ey everything is. I'm a hoagie (y?) head and I think that any good hoagie should be more pizza than burger. All long, heroic sandwiches are either pizza or burger, and you can immediately tell which is which. Both are good, but I think pizza alignment is better, and Cheba Hut leans that way strongly. Even the bread, which falls squarely into the French quarter, has a strong semblance to pizza dough. It's very chewy - possibly just a high-moisture dough with pizza flour or maybe some additives, but I think it's very pleasant in a sandwich. It's almost similar to eating a calzone, which is closer to a triangle in shape. On that note, almost every sandwich I tried (every vegetarian option) has a moisture problem. The dough does a bad job at absorbing moisture, and the toasting is too brief, leaving an immediately soggy dough and undercooked ingredients. This is especially noticeable in Cheba Hut's magic mushrooms - the magic is that they are raw. Cheba's prep and toast process could use some tuning, but I think the ingredient quality is great. If I order very carefully, omitting the wettest ingredients, I am left with an excellent sandwich. As mentioned before when I was being the Quizno Defender, there are many menu options, and I really appreciate how many of them are vegetarian. All of the sandwiches come with a "garden option" to take them into an even more vegetable-heavy territory. That's fun! I think a good sandwich can be a salad and bread, both packaged in a fun torpedo-type way. An interesting thing going on is the "Cheba Shake" added onto every sandwich. It's basically a pizza-parm & oregano combo that helps wick up all the fucking moisture, but it's also a well-deserved zap of salt. I would recommend it! There's definitely something else going on in that blend, which I think Cheba Hut likes to play coy about - it's parsley! Dried parsley on a sandwich is interesting and wasn't something I'd tried before. I ache for the shake. Finally, all the other bullshit. The place sells kool-aid and alcohol and rice krispy treats. It looks like a Wayne's World set, and I don't believe any locations can properly be called a hut. Although a majority of their locations are in Colorado, it is not originally a Colorado business (like our beloved Quizno's), but is actually native to Tempe. Also, the first time I went here it was Halloween, and I was dressed like a bug. I remember thinking that the environment reminded me of a Dark Subway. On that note, 4/5, pretty good read more

Whenever I have a craving for a good sandwich and a chill vibe this is where I go. It is one of the places that is open later that others and the food is super tasty. they have a ton of options. One of my favorite sandwiches that I have gotten from them is I think is called bikini bottom. what makes it stand out is it has jelly, and cream cheese. It might be a "secret menu" item but I learned about it from a store in AZ so might be by location. Either way... delish and suuuuuuuper tasty! read more

Mmmmm, Toasted Subs with amazing combination of ingredients. We visited Denver from KC and stopped here for a quick lunch. They have a large menu of crazy, unique sub-sandwiches and what was tough was picking only one to eat. They have subs with chicken, turkey, pork, beef, and just veggies--all combined with tons of different ingredients to blow your tastebuds. I ordered the Thai Stick, which was grilled chicken teriyako, green bell peppers, black olives, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and their Shake and House dressing. I had to pace myself because this was bursting with flavor and very delicious. My date ordered the Power Plant with guacamole, hummus, feta, spring mix, tomato, onion, pickles, cucumbers, shrooms, black olives, and green bell peppers, with their Shake and House dressing. She absolutely loved it too. They have a neat indoor dining area with weird and fun murals and a nice outside patio. Next time we're in Denver, we'll be back to try a couple more subs. read more

I always forget that Cheba Hut is a great late night eats spot open til midnight most nights, I think on Friday and Saturday they are open even later. The have a fully stocked bar and Kool aid :) Great sandwiches. White widow, kali mist, and la canna are my favorites. Prices are average for sandwich joints. Update from my original 5star review in 2018. Complete crap as of 2019/2020. Been here multiple times, and the past year when I've been they have 100% each time messed up orders. I order the Kali Mist with Giardiniera (you can see my review on the west Colfax, similar issue here). Sandwich is never correct. The last time I received a chicken teriyaki..????? Like what the h. It's not like I am ordering a sandwich, with minus this and minus that, it's the exact sandwich on the menu, plus 1 item. Basic service industry skills that are lacking here. Cheba hut is great! Try to call ahead if you're in a rush. It usually takes about 10-15 minutes to make your sandwich even if isn't crowded. I can only assume that they lost my order and gave it to someone else. I love this place. Their sandwiches are everything, which makes me want to change my star rating but I love their sandwiches enough that I can't. I just want to to get this off my chest. My friends and I walked up to order our sandwiches at 11:40pm today, a Sunday. The doors were locked, the posted hours say open until midnight. Someone opens the door and says we're not taking any more live orders. Bummer. So I look at the sign outside that has curbside delivery available. Hubby and I came here for lunch on the recommendation from a friend. This is a really cool sub shop that is basically Cannabis themed. Every sub, salad, drink, or dessert is named from a Cannabis strain or something closely related to it. I ordered the Midwest Best in their pinner (8"). It was toasted and on whole wheat and delicious!! Hubby ordered the (8") Kush and devoured it! Everyone there was super friendly. There's tons of cool interesting stickers and decor everywhere. There's a big debate of who makes the best sammiches in Denver and Cheba Hit is a top contender. I don't think it's the best according to my taste but it's still a good toasted one and this is a cool spot. I like the outdoor area out front with the tv. I got the La Canna which is a classic Italian sandwich and my go-to order. Next time I'd probably try one their saucy chicken sandwiches. read more
