For my 420th review, I would like to relive the old days when I would randomly go on a roadtrip to Arizona for really stupid things. Going to Cheba Hut was NOT one of these stupid things. A few of my high school friends always made the trip on 4/20 every year and I eventually thought it would be a good idea to visit. They have veggie and meat options. I'm not too adventurous. When I have something delicious, I stick with it. Favorite veggie sandwich is the Train Wreck on herb bread. The more herb, the better? My favorite meat sub is probably the Dank. While the whole weed/pothead vibe is most definitely NOT my scene, I totally respect how well this place has set itself apart from your typical sub shop. I went with the 8 inch White Widow (supposedly a weed pun I'm not aware of). Decently tasty! I loved the ranch sauce paired with the cheese and chicken. It came out warm and freshly toasted (none of the weird subway zap toasting). That being said, don't expect the sub to be ready to eat anything less than 5-10 min as they do prepare these as you order. I like that this place has a legit bar complete with a happy hour and could see how some folks might dig the marijuana vibe. The food wasn't anything I feel I couldn't get elsewhere, but was glad to try out this supposed AZ staple. 8 in sub + chips and drink will run you about $11 so not much of a steal, but worth trying if you're in the area. read more

Usually get subs here and they're great. However, today I decided to eat a little cleaner and grab a salad. JUST DON'T DO IT. What a depressing salad. Asked for banana peppers and extra cheese to be added. No banana peppers, no extra cheese, no croutons. What I received was basically a sad pile of greens with a few cucumber slices, a minuscule amount of meat and cheese, and a pickle spear. Cheba Hut is one of my favorite places to grab a quick sandwich and it is even better when they put a coupon in the asu bookstore booklets! I have been going to Cheba Hut for years now and I finally got around to trying the one right by ASU and it is just as good as in San Diego! I got the pinner white widow which comes with chicken, ranch, cheese, bacon, mushrooms, lettuce, and onion and I don't think I'll ever get anything different because it has so much amazing flavor! Their ranch tastes homemade and is so good with the warm sandwich. The only complaint I really ever have with this sandwich is that the onions are really strong so I would advise getting any sandwich without onion. We also got the shareable pretzel bites with their honey mustard. The bites are so tasty and are topped with garlic, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese. Their honey mustard dipping sauce is honestly out of this world and I ended up dipping my sandwich in the remainder of sauce that I had left. I order nachos without jalapenos, and a sandwhich without pickles, and literally watch them ring it up so that those things are printed on the receipt as taken off, and everytime time I get my food? The food it's good but their customer service is terrible! I placed an order today for pick up at 11:45am and when I arrived there at 11:45am the order wasn't ready. I waited 10 min and nothing I went and talked to the person at the register and he went and checked and said it was ready for pick up to walk to the pick up side- I went there and my order wasn't even made yet. Went to Cheba Hut today for one singular sandwich, ordered online with a pickup time of 10:13 when i went in and waited until 10:13 to ask for my order the worker stated, "its almost done ill call your name when its done" as i proceeded to sit for an additional 15 minutes past my pickup time to only find out she left it sitting behind the counter and not letting me know it was ready as we had established. I then opened the bag to find it was soggy and my normally hot sandwich was cold. horrible customer service. disappointed because i normally love the food but not worth the horrendous service :( read more
