This restaurant definitely caters to the large Bukharian population of Rego Park. This was my first time tasting this type of food. The food I thought was great. Very heavy and fatty and delicious. I love chebureks these huge hunk of fried dough flat pies filled with meat .. kinda look like big empanadas.. Plov is a yummy flavorful rice dish with meat. When I came here I'm pretty sure I was the only one who wasn't Bukharian or Russian. The waitress was really terrible, and it's not even because of the language barrier. I know how to point to the menu to show what I want. She was just really cold and unpleasant. Like 4 people came in after me and they all got served before me. So I'd say service totally sucks. I feel a bit stupid that I've walked past this restaurant for most of my life going to the library up the street, and never thought to go in or even be a little curious about the food. It turns out this place is delicious. I live on the other side of Queens Blvd where there is also a similar Uzbek restaurant, but I like this place better. I love the house salad, which is huge considering it's $6.50 - lettuce, tomatoes, lots of olives, half an avocado, two pepperoncinis (how this is Uzbek I have no idea) and steamed asparagus. Most people split the salad for the table. I love love love the special chebureki - the meat juices stay in the pastry, similar to the broth staying in a soup dumpling. I also like the cabbage one and the mushroom one, but I could eat like 8 special chebureki (which is stuffed with lamb). For the skewers, I go with the regular lamb meat. I don't eat beef, otherwise I'd get the lulya, which is a mix of both animals. My BFF swears its the best mixed meat kebab ever. I like the lamb heart (very minerally) but found the sweetbreads not to be that flavorful. I like to douse all my food in the dill-tomato sauce that comes with everything. My BFF and I fought over the one we had. (they should really provide a sauce bowl per guest, not per order). Best thing is that this place is open til late, which means we've been idiots all those years we ordered pizza at home because we thought it was the only food option open late; but the shabbat hours are a bummer because Fridays and Saturdays are my usual eating-out days of the week. Took off a star for service because it's so inconsistent. Sometimes it's attentive; sometimes you can't flag down a server for your life. One time they forgot two of my orders; another time we couldn't find someone to refill our table water bottle. read more

If you like Uzbek, Georgian and Russian style food - you got it. The best thing is that quality is VERY good and price is unbelievably low. I recommend various kebabs (they make these on real wooden charcoal grills). Manti, samasa, chebureki..all is good. Dessert I don't know (not a dessert person). Coffee is bad. Take tea. I really like Uzbeki cuisine but most Uzbek restaurants have bad service, high prices and a rough crowd (feel like a mobster joint). At Cheburechnaya you have decent Uzbeki cuisine that is reasonably priced (about $15 for dinner with appetizer). The service is not bad (very unusual for Uzbek restaurants). The waitresses were actually somewhat friendly. I enjoyed the samsa, green rice pilaf and their special french fries. The crowd is mixed...Some nice, some creepy. But Cheburechnaya has less of a mafia scene than many Uzbek restaurants. If you want to experience Central Asian cuisine at a reasonable price then I recommend. read more

Very friendly service. The bass kebabs stood out because of the juiciness and also the nice charcoal flavor. We Also tried the salmon and lamb kebobs, and you can tell the grilling was timed quite well. The Lamb chops were a little chewy and fatty but not sure if it's normal for this venue; not enough data points. And because I love onions, the salad was satisfying. The customer base is mostly Eastern European but you will see others in here as well. Parking is not an issue on side streets so this is a drivable venue. Competition I believe is getting tough because there is a new Uzbek place right around the corner. But there is a reason this place is a consistent 4.5 stars on yelp. read more

This place is getting worse and worse. This is my third time ordering from this place with in a year. First time was great, second time it was OK but then the third time was really bad and I thought let's give them another chance. I ordered 12 salmsa, 12 manti, 20 difference sorts of shishkababsit. Samsa was too salty, very little meat and most of it was just fats and onion and thick dough.. Samsa should have alot of meat and very little fat and some onions and thin dougg.. Manti was also fatty because there was almost no meat just fats and onions, very greasy.. Lamb shishkabab was very chewy, most of it was a lot of fats on it.. chicken shishkabab was ok and so was lulya turkey and meat.. But over all they have to improve with more and good meat and lot less fats.. read more

A friend of mine mentioned this place to me a few days ago, so i decided to go and check it out. Its in Rego Park which is predominantly Russian neighborhood which is a little usual for Queens. I guess thats why I was intrigued to check out this Russian restaurant. When we got to the restaurant and looked at the menu, it didnt really look like a Russian menu. It was actually more like a central Asia and Uzbek restaurant. I was instantly interested to know what Uzbek food tasted like. We order the chebureki, which is a fried dumpling with meat inside. This was very good. Also the steak and lamb kabobs were very good. The dumpling beef soup was ok. I didnt think it was very good. Another interesting thing was that the waiters were all fairly young and attractive which my gf pointed out. There was also a male waiter, so I dont think they only hire young female waiters. I wasnt really hungry when we arrived to the restaurant, so made it may have influenced my review. Overall I would recommend this place if you like to try uzbek or central asian food. read more

Russian spot in Rego Park. Plentiful skewers of delicious meat. BYOB so plan accordingly. Entire table had hayooooge vaginas so had to order the "exotic" meat without telling them what it was before they tasted it. Well, what can I say... It's simply the best Georgian/Uzbek/Kosher place in the neighborhood! Chebureki and dolma are delicious, and so are gozhdizhda and fresh salad. Bukharian and Uzbek cuisine is one of my favorite, but this place is HORRIBLE. The food is disgusting and tasteless. I would never go back there again and the staff is rude especially the owner. I wanted to take out samasa from the bill $2.75 because it was watery due to too much onion and he refused. We kept fighting because of $2.75, for me it was principal. This place was a unique experience that delivered on all levels. Their goshtgizhda doughy pastry with lamb and onion was so good I had to bring home more. I also enjoyed the pumpkin samcy. The soup tasted very authentic and was distinguished for not being too salty, unlike most restaurants, and the dumplings in the soup were tasty. The salad was fine but unremarkable. The lamb kebabs were quite good. I'm not sure how to review the testicles, but some might want to try them. Others in my party described them as "salty and spongy, and worth sampling." The walnut baklava tasted about as expected, but the pistachio version had a unique flavor. Overall, I found the prices very reasonable. Although the menu had limited descriptions, the waitstaff was very good. Our waitress impressively took the time to answer our questions and suggested dishes that ended up being quite tasty. Although it's not not the closest place for most Manhattanites, it's worth a trip. read more

Came here on a Sunday, had a good crowd. We seated ourselves and our orders were taken quickly. We ordered the chicken, lamb and rib. It was tasty and even though it looked like it wasn't enough we left super full. We also ordered the potatoes filled turnovers , it was delicious. Deep fried beef brains have the potential to be something better but it's just dough covered brains and fried. The beef kebabs are a must try. Delicious!!! Chicken is good too. Sea Bass is eh. Well, i have been coming to this restaurant since it opened its doors... I was nicely surprised by today's visit... The food was outstanding.... Thin, flaky dough of Samsa wrapped around small pieces of meat and minced onion... All the food was very fresh and well prepared... Lulya Kebab was out of this world... Juicy, fresh meat that basically melted in your mouth... Also as a side note, i love love their side sauce that they serve with Samsa and chebureks... Went here for my birthday this past Saturday night and loved every bit of it ! It's truly a neighborhood eatery. The prices are super low and the food is delicious. Wait staff wasn't great but the food and atmosphere made up for it. My table of 9 people ate, were totally filled and had food leftover for around $100. I highly recommend this spot! read more
