Big fan of the Cheddar's restraint group! Venue: the venue has a relatively open and fine dining feel to it which i found to be very interesting. The booths and seething environment are ideal for parties up to 6 comfortably, but more could be managed by consolidating tables. Clean bathrooms are a plus here. Value: The price point here is really what earns the 4 and 5 star. This restaurant offers a great value on a number of food choices that rivals almost any restaurant in the local area. I was pleasantly surprised to see full, great choice meals at a decent value. Food: There is a decent selection of food choices here that come out in great portions. The menu hosts steak, chicken, burgers, etc that all encompass a full range of menu items to meet the needs of the almost any picky eater. My wife and I ate at the Avon, Indiana Cheddars Scratch Kitchen location today. At least, my wife did. First, our server brought us refills of our drinks, and to identify which was which, she had put a lemon wedge on top of mine. The lemon looked like it was previously squeezed, and was gross. She didn't bother to remove the lemon, not that I had any intent to drink a potentially E-COLI or COVID contaminated beverage. A few minutes passed and she brings 2 entrees in our direction. I watch her go to the table diagonally across from ours, and place my entree in front of an elderly lady. The lady looks confused, grabs the plate, brings it closer to her face, about 12 inches, then informs the server that it was not what she ordered. The server promptly picks the plate up, spins around and comes to our table. She had been holding the other plate of food, my wife's, the entire time, and puts it in front of her. Then, places the potentially contaminated plate in front of me. I immediately tell her that I was not going to eat it, or even touch the plate, after observing what she did. She takes the plate away without a word. My wife eats most of her food, 1/2 rack of ribs, and I nibble on some of hers, anxiously anticipating my steak and shrimp. Then, the server swoops by in a mad rush and without even so much as saying a word, places a plate of food in front of me, and zoom, she's gone before I can even look down to see the plate. What's in front of me is wrong, it is the exact entree that my wife ordered. At this point, I lose my patience, and go up to the front of the establishment to the greeter podium, and ask to speak to a manager. 5-10 minutes later, a young man comes to our table, the manager, and asks if everything was alright. I explain all that has gone on. He apologizes, and says that server "gets frazzled sometimes" and he will give us a discount on my wife's food (since I didn't eat) but, we didn't even get that! Bad service is one thing, but there are serious board of health violations here. $19.48 spent. No apology, ever, from the server. Worst experience we've ever had, anywhere. I've submitted complaints to both Hendricks County Health Department and Indiana State Board of Health. read more

Decided to go to Cheddar's for dinner. Got seated right away in the bar tabletop area. Our waitress looked to have several tables, but she was great, never had to ask for refills or anything. We ordered the chicken tenders platter and a buffalo chicken wrap, both were very good as were the buttery croissants they brought us when we sat down. read more

We came around 9pm and had Katie as our server. We were a party of 15 celebrating a birthday, after a DELICIOUS meal, our tickets ended up getting horribly messed up to the point where drinks and meals were mismatched and some items weren't accounted for, this was not Katie's fault however she showed great concern and admitted she needed help when she went and got another staff member. Cheddar's ended up covering our tab after a long battle with the tickets, and although our meal was free we left Katie a very generous tip. We all admired her dedication to customer satisfaction and even when she was extremely stressed out, she stood her ground and executed her duties as a server excellently. She never gave us attitude or gave up, and kept us updated throughout the whole thing. The world needs more servers like Katie! Next time we come back, we're asking for Katie! read more

I've Cheddar'd it up a few times and have never had an overwhelmingly positive experience. The burgers aren't up to snuff - and the barbecue burger had such an embarrassingly tiny squirt of sauce I thought the waitress would apologize for the kitchen. Nah, she was about as interested in our table as I am in doing my taxes in January. Their soda machine was spitting out something that tasted like Black Death and the waitress wanted to argue with me that she pushed the right button. Bad service combined with mediocre food? Had an awesome time here for a family get together recently. Our server was prompt and attentive but even more than that, he joked and was friendly and made us laugh. It's always a pleasure when servers go above and beyond to really make you comfortable. The potato skins are excellent (although I wish there had been more to an order. They were just that good.) If you're sharing with 6 people, you may want to order two. Philly cheesesteak sandwich is also pretty decent. I wasn't a huge fan of it being button mushrooms as opposed to sliced mushrooms but I figure if that was my only complaint then it was a good meal. Looking forward to visiting again. read more

Anytime something was needed at our table we had to ask 2-3 times and it would then take 10 minutes for her to return. Ordered a carry out for three New Orlean's Pasta with extra sauce. When I arrived around 7:55pm on 7/28/21 it was the worst experience I ever had. The young lady at the door seemed to be occupied doing nothing. Didn't speak nor direct me to the area to pick up my food. I went to the bar to pick up my food and no one was present. I waited for about 3-5 minutes and went back to the young lady at the door. I told her that I was there to pick up food and before I could finish she blurted out you need to go to the bar! I told her that no one was there and she said well I can't help you so that's where you have to go! I asked her to use her headset to notify someone that I was there and she rudely walked away with an attitude. Then a young man came to the bar and handed me a receipt to pay with out a welcome or greeting. Another lady came behind him with the food. The order was incomplete. I asked for my the croissants that comes with the meal and went home. Opened my food up, garlic bread was soggy because they put it in the box with the pasta and there was no sauce on the food, just sauce in a cup. They charged me $3.00 for extra sauce but failed to put anything on the food. Not to mention the shrimp tail that was in my pasta . I tried calling but could not get a manager on the phone. The service and food has declined over the years and I am terribly disappointed. Do not eat at this restaurant! Try Greenwood or the other locations. read more

This is one of the the chain restaurants that my parents still enjoy going to in Avon. We usually go here when we have a larger family dinner on a weeknight. They always get us in quickly and accommodate our larger group. Our favorite thing to order for an appetizer is the spinach artichoke dip. I am a huge fan of using pita bread with artichoke dip, but the use chips. The dip they serve is too good to complain about not having the pita bread! They always refill the chips when you're out, that's a perk in my eyes! I don't order too many things from the menu. I love salads and I've become a fan of the BBQ salad. It's pretty big so be ready to talk half of it home for leftovers! Overall, Cheddar's is a great place for a quick bite in Avon. I've been in the bar area the last 3 times we've been in because wait is 30-45 minutes in restaurant area. 6 dirty empty tables. Sat at one and waited...finally had to ask someone standing at the bar (1 out of 5) to clean the table. Our family of 9 decided to have dinner here on today (11/21/2021). We did the call ahead seating and was told the wait would be 30 minutes. When we arrived, we were told the wait was 30 mins. After this time passed, we were told there would be an additional 30-40 min wait. We all understand the post Covid situation and we all are understanding of the fact that many places are short staffed.. The problem arose when a party of 8 arrived 20 mins after us, waited 20 mins and was seated immediately. When we objected to them being seated ahead of us, the girl at the front hostess stand, got smart and continued to smart off even after we stopped talking to her. Attitude in customer service especially in the food service industry is important. This isn't my first time eating in this location. We've been faithful patrons of Cheddars since it came to Indy.....patronizing the West 38th location before it caught on fire and NEVER have we ever encountered anyone with such an attitude and smart mouth. We've had many family dinners, birthday and anniversary celebrations and just visits on relaxing occasions. Additional training in how to talk to people ( as well as how to deal with irate customers) is very much needed at this location. Will we come back........not sure because the attitude of the hostess and unapologetic attitude of the Mgr was unacceptable. Be very cautious about patronizing this location with a large party on busy day. read more

Cheddars has always been one of my favorite restaurants, but had a bad experience with our last take out. 1st of all, we didn't get any croissants. The serving sizes were at least half as big as normal. The chicken was dry & tough,& the carrots were raw. Perhaps they had been blanched for a minute. This is unexceptable. Pulled up and parking should've said it all. Parking lot was barely half full. We normally love coming here for dinner, but tonight was a different story. We've always had good luck with this restaurant, however for tonight things were really sad!!! We checked in and they told us 25 minutes and that was fine with us however, when you start seating people that came in behind us that had the same number of people in their party there's a problem. We are then seated to have to wait 10 minutes just to see a waitress. Our croissants were brought out with no plates to eat on, the tables across from us were never cleared the entire time that we set there. Wife ordered the chicken dinner and the chicken was dry, I ordered the vegetable plate with is with a soup and the soup came out without out the rest of the dinner, it also came out with the soup running down the side of the bowl, never once did the waitress voluntarily ask us if we would like refills. The waitress was nice and very friendly however she was very inexperienced. All in all the food wasn't bad and that's the only reason they're getting 2 stars. I'd easily rank the food 5/5 stars. I've been here several times and ordered various things. The chips and queso and salsa to start is always a good choice and you get free chip refills. Their chicken tender portions are also always plentiful. I'd recommend sharing plates. If you go at lunch, they have a great pick 2 choice. The food is a like a great home cooked meal. The reason for 4 stars is the pricing- the dishes are a bit pricey. The service is good, it has declined a bit over the years, but still good. Good atmosphere too. read more

The French fries were the best part of our meal. Chicken fried steak was raw the first time it came out so they cooked another. The second one had raw batter and the steak was very rare. Place was not very clean yet they had 8 servers standing around the hostess station checking out their phones. I treated my sons family and children - we had a party of six Our waiter was kind attentive- I felt bad that he couldn't refill our coffee - he had to bring new cups every time ??? So many dishes!!! The food was good and the prices are fair- another review mentioned that it is noisy - I agree but it seems like everyone was so happy and enjoyed themselves so I think that is a positive thing I would recommend this for families or hungry couples!! I had given up on Cheddars because of past service and then we had great service with Trevor. So, today my friend Debbie and I went there for my belated birthday lunch. Originally we were going to Olive Garden but the traffic was so bad I couldn't get in the turn lane on Rockville Rd. I ordered chicken fingers with fries and broccoli and Debbie got pasta and chicken. Our lunch arrived and it looked great. My fries were warm because hot fries are not available (except when Trevor is the server). I enjoyed the broccoli and a couple of fries and one chicken tender. Then I cut the second tender and saw that there was a hair on the tender. Yuck! It was not my hair because it was dark and did not match my hair color. I notified our server that my meal had a hair in it and she took it away to show her manager. 10 minutes pass.... during this time one of the servers dropped some glasses and glass slid across the floor and hit my foot. No problem because I had shoes on. The guy at the table behind me got hit by the glass but didn't appear concerned. They moved that party of 4. After the fun and excitement our server stopped by to tell me they were redoing my lunch. Debbie was finished with her lunch so I told her I didn't want my lunch because my friend was finished and I didn't expect her to wait on me. Shopping was waiting! And I didn't want to take it cold because cold French fries are not good reheated morning is the chicken. Our bill was adjusted, Debbie paid for her lunch and I was still hungry. My birthday lunch was ruined and my opinion of Cheddar's is no longer good. I feel the manager should have visited our table to let us know hair is not normal in their food. If the server would have told me what was happening sooner (about 2 minutes) I would probably have waited for my lunch and not have been upset and hungry. This place was fantastic! Hubby made a great choice! The atmosphere is relaxed and casual but the decor is kinda swanky! I love it. They have this amazing tropical fish aquarium that is beautiful to behold for both adults and kids! This restaurant is classic American fare. I had a pecan crusted grilled.chicken salad that was absolutely delicious! I admit I was surprised! It came with the lightest and most tasty buttery croissant I've ever had! The best of my fam had chicken tenders (delicious breading) and ribs. They were pleased! They serve endless chips and salsa of note. The server was friendly and just great. I don't know how the heck they can keep their prices so low! The food is good quality and homemade daily, according to our cousin, who trains the staff. The only issues that I have here that pretty much prevent us from going anymore: 1. Long wait. Try 2 hours on a weeknight. No joke. There's nothing there worth waiting THAT long for. 2. Loud as hell. Seriously? I've been to concerts that weren't this loud! My ears were ringing when I left there. Everything in this place is made of wood and stone, so it echoes so loud. Babies screaming are like screams of death x10. They need to invest in some sound proofing technology. 3. No wifi. Why the hell do you have "casual cafe" in your name but you don't offer wifi? Red beans & rice were spectacular - I'd come back just for those alone (5 stars)! Better than any version I've had in Louisiana. TIP: Bring a jacket and a winter beanie if you plan on eating inside. They keep it freezing cold. It was 90 degrees outside but indoors was absolute Antarctica with icy breezes from fans. We heard numerous others commenting on the (lack of) temperature, but our server didn't seem to take our "please turn up the heat" request too seriously. As for the rest of the food, the bourbon glazed salmon was flavorful but just a bit overcooked for my taste (3.5 stars) and the baby carrots were sweet and crisp (4 stars). We had a coupon for free chips + queso ...they were fine but nothing I'd seek out again (3 stars). The rest of the people in my party were very satisfied with their meals. We will certainly look for a return visit to Cheddars when the family is back in town. read more

But not offering wifi for customers, in 2014, to me indicates that management is woefully out of touch with the times. Yes, yes, I know you go there to eat, not to get on line, blah blah blah. Boo for out of state chains. I'm just not a fan, BUT my daughter's picky diet forces me to cave once in awhile. Pleasing her palate is important after all. We've been a couple times and I can honestly say, the highlight has been the croissants. They are super fresh and flaky. They come with all salads and are a real treat. Chips and queso are good for starters. They have a decent entree salad selection. On this last visit I had the chicken fingers (for which they are supposed to be famous for)...I thought they were okay. Little to no seasoning...just fried boredom. My daughter always goes with a burger. Normally, she likes them, but this time she took one bite and said it tasted funny. We sent it back. The server carried it up to the front of the store to tell the manager about it and they chatted all the way back to the kitchen. It was a little embarrassing. I'm not sure why she wouldn't just take it back to the kitchen and then discuss whatever needs discussing with the manager. The server also brought me the check without asking if we want dessert. I LOATHE that...even if I don't want it...I want to be asked. This visit we did want dessert and had to ask for a re-cap of their offerings. We went with the chocolate cake. It was seriously enough for an army...okay, maybe 4 people, but still. We took it home and ate on it two more times. It was moist and rich, served with vanilla ice cream. I love Cheddars. Their food is always good, their portions are very generous, and their prices are affordable. If you have a chance to sit at the bar, do it.
