Three years ago, i wrote a review on this Cheddar's, so it's time for an update. When we entered, we were absolutely the first patrons in the door. Our super server, Kylie, took care of us the entire meal. Like last time, I ordered the Monte Cristo with the powdered sugar and, for dipping, raspberry preserves. It was as good today as it was in 2016. My wife's baby back ribs looked as good today as they had all the other times. Incredibly, not much has changed in three years. The food wasn't fancy schmancy, but it tasted good, the portions were large and the prices were reasonable. Oh, we got über good service from super server Kylie, but I'm not changing Cheddar's four star rating. read more

This is not my first visit to this restaurant. Unfortunately it seems to be continually going down hill. The booth where we were sat had a giant rip in the cushion. We were also next to the take out door. It had a massive set of cobwebs above the door. This wasn't a missed single cleaning but multiple misses of cleanings. The food was mediocre. They brought the wrong food to our table three times. When the correct food was delivered, it was missing the loaded potato. The waitress then came back to tell us that they were out of potatoes. I love their pot pie and wonderful service, but tonight's interaction with manager, Ryan L, requires a review. I have a severe, anaphylaxis allergy to paprika which makes eating in the south a challenge. When they didn't have the "paprika free" pot pie, Ryan helped me to find meals that were safe. When it was realized that BBQ sauce was included in the sauce of my order, which ended up having paprika, Ryan literally ran out to make sure I hadn't eaten, was safe and replaced the meal without the sauce. There was no risk of eating this while I was waiting to have things double checked, but I was astounded by his compassion, concern given the brevity of my situation and that he truly made me feel safe given how detailed he reviewed my order. He had answers to questions before I had even asked. He looked in to things I didn't have to suggest. Eating out is often scary and taxing, but Ryan removed those barriers for me. He literally had to look at multiple sauces & products to find this out! As long as Ryan is there, I will be a customer for life! We loved the ambiance. The inside decor was different than other similar restaurant chains. The large aquarium and a hit with the kids. The large multi paddle fan in the center of the restaurant gave the place a tropical feel. There was nice outdoor space, but was closed the night we arrived. The food was good. Their signature cocktails tasted good (especially the Cheddar Painkiller), and the price was reasonable. We will be back again! read more

I love the location in Clarksville and go there quite a bit and the food is always hot and fresh and the service is always fast and friendly. I came to this location in Brentwood and I am sad to say that I cant say the same thing the atmosphere and the feel of the place is the same as all other chain restaurants. I am giving 2 stars because the service was alright. Where this goes very wrong is the food. My wife and I each got a house salad and shared an order of the cheddar bites and I ordered the buffalo beer battered shrimp. The salads were alright but the cheddar bites and Buffalo shrimp were cold. I mean not even close to being warm kind of cold. Neither one for us could really eat anything but the salads. I will never go to this location again. I will stick to Clarksville where they actually care about the customers. read more

Service is weird. Ordered food and visited restroom, the table was cleared. When food arrived, had to ask server to bring Silverware... and afterwards paper towels. Had Cornmeal While Fish. It seems this is favourite entre folks order here (saw servers bringing such nearby patrons). Expected cornbread (may be menu was confusing), but just got fish fry and tartar sauce. Fish was tender. The side dishes : Loaded Potato, and Broccoli Cheese was good though. The Dinner size entre portion was big. Still overall, did not feel like very special place or food to revisit. read more

If I could give it 0 stars i would. This place is HORRIBLE!!! i can't comprehend how it takes over 30 minutes to make a simple burger and it was Burned and cold. They need to straight up close the damn place. The staff provides the slowest service ever!! is not like there was even a lot of people. I counted 5 tables and more then enough staff, but they will all be no where to be found. Their coke tasted like seltzer water and the server didn't even had a pen to sign the check. Do yourself a favor and just avoid this please. Trust me. you can thank me later. read more

We arrived at 11:45a, seated immediately in an almost empty restaurant. Ordered and received an iced tea and croissant. The restaurant filled up. Other patrons all around us are receiving lunch. For us, 40 minutes no food, no update from server... nothing. We finally grabbed the server and said we can't wait any longer. We left and will never return. Zero stars. read more

We almost didn't go here because they only had three stars, you do not want to make the mistake of passing up this place! Food was all excellent, fresh, tasty (my husband had a hamburger & I had shrimp, rice carrots & beans. And the croissants they serve as rolls are melt in your mouth YUMMY! I really enjoy going to Cheddar's because they have a nice variety on their menu. There was something for everyone! I had tropical shrimp which was very good. The croissants with the sweet glaze our server brought to the table were practically sinful!! It was like eating dessert! I went with a party of 6 adults on a Friday night about 6pm. We were told there would be about a 10-15 Minute wait. We were seated within 15 minutes. Our waiter (Gavin) was at our table within a few minutes to take our drink order. We also ordered chips and queso (they add seasoned ground beef for free if you want) which was at our table within minutes. We ordered a variety of entrees, hamburger, chicken tenders & shrimp, chicken alfredo, bbq chicken & grilled chicken and shrimp. All were very good. The only one that was able to finish their meal was the one with the burger.....a 19 year old guy. The two 18 year old guys couldn't finish their meals. Overall we were pleased with the service and the amount of food as well as the taste. We would return!! read more

The customer service was okay at best. The food was plentiful and just okay. The wait time was long, due to being understaffed. They did not sit people in the order they came in. My wife called them out on that, but they said. It is taking longer to clean our table. Not the best way to get repeat customers. read more

Ah yes, the American chain restaurant offering fried foods of every ilk. You can find them by the hundreds in the U.S., and of course they're never as good as the independently-owned restaurants. But Cheddar's is alright for a chain. They certainly named the franchise cleverly, because most Americans start salivating at the mere mention of cheddar cheese. I know I do. Well played corporate office. What surprised me were the enormous portions for decent prices, a winning combination for family dining purposes. Our meal averaged roughly $17 per person for a bunch of skinny folks with big appetites. And when I say large portions, I mean HUGE portions! Yeah, that's an American characteristic! I started with an appetizer of onion rings, and a MASSIVE stack of rings arrived! They were very good and the batter was just right, super crispy while complimenting the onions. These are actually some of the better onion rings in town, especially for a chain restaurant! When I ordered fried chicken, I had no idea I would get a dish that resembled the 53-ounce steak I once consumed in Idaho. I mean this chicken was GIGANTIC, two enormous butterflied breasts filling up the entire large platter upon which they rested. The chicken was perfectly juicy inside, but unfortunately it's not the traditional fried, thick chicken breast that most prefer. Instead, the chicken is actually pounded so thin that there is more batter than there is actual meat. In fact, the batter is so extremely rich, you feel like you're having a mild heart attack by the time you're halfway done. This champion eater of large quantities hasn't asked for a to-go box in probably 40 years. But the rich batter defeated me and I had to end my streak and ask for a box! You can feel the grease in your arteries! I could have done it if I skipped the giant pile of onion rings. I will say that the sides of buttered corn and fries were tasty. Cheddar's has decent food for a chain. Our waiter was professional and courteous. In fact, he's probably the first server I've ever had who both kept my water glass full at all times AND put my appetizer in front of me instead of in the middle of the table for all to grab. That earned him a 30% tip, because I've been waiting my entire adult life for a server to do both of those things simultaneously. I wish I remembered his name. Tall, friendly African-American man with a tattoo slightly visible on his neck. Give this man a raise! He's probably the best waiter I've had in my life (outside of an ultra-expensive restaurant)! I've read complaints about servers who don't bring silverware to the table, or napkins. Not our waiter. He was on top of it! I've also read about trouble with restaurant's water quality or issues with customers substituting side items. The water quality problem seems to have been fixed, and I had no trouble substituting both sides items that came with the chicken. So hopefully this Cheddar's has remedied these issues as it seemed that way to us. read more

Worst service I have ever had , the lady with a million nose rings told her bar tender the customer could wait ....and we sat for about 33 minutes before she came.over and gave me a free beer. It's understandable to have a bad night but unacceptable to announce that her customers can wait loudly and slam her tray in front of customers. Went last week - service was slow and dining area was not clean. Food was okay but did not seem very fresh. I did not eat much of my meal - it just wasn't good. We had a multi chain gift card and I would have much preferred to have used it elsewhere after the service and quality of food we got. At least it covered our meal, otherwise I would have been very upset when we left. Doubtful that I would ever return. read more

After getting beverages and the wonderful spinach dip, there was not much room for the actual meals. We asked that the table next to us be placed with our table for more room. Went here Sunday, the spinach dip appetizer is to die for! The chicken Alfredo was a little over salted but was delish. I did get a steak, ordered it medium rare and it was given to me overly well done. Did not make a big deal about it, just told our waitress and she immediately told her manager. The manager was sweet enough to take it off of our ticket entirely. The customer service alone makes this place a definite revisit some other time. Highly recommend! Especially the spinach dip. Arrived for lunch at 11, we were the first in the restaurant. It took over 10 minutes to get our drinks and 40 minutes to get our food. We had sand whips wraps and a cup of soup. Well let me say this, we have been to this location before and had a great experience. However, this visit not so much we were seated next to the takeout door which is fine because it was not busy. However the booth we sat in had a huge rip in the seat and the seats were full of trash. I went and asked for someone to clean the seats before we sat down and you would have thought I asked for her to build the ark. The woman came and only sprayed the seats with some cleaning solution (but left the paper trash in the seats) and wiped it off but did not dry them, so we were left waiting and almost left at this point. The waitress came over and apologized and picked up the trash. Our waitress seemed scattered (was also working the bar but it was not busy) most of the time and slightly smart with her remarks. The food was good and came in a timely manner but the service has went down hill. Hope some changes are made soon. read more

My hubby and I went for dinner tonight. Our waiter was more than accommodating to us. Out of Chicken strips, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes. Cooked carrots too sweet, my salad was not good . Grilled chicken salad, too many carrots and not enough tomatoes. Went to pay for dinner on their kiosk but it had another diners bill in there so we had to wait for waiter who then had to take it to the back and then he didn't have the right change. read more

Cheddar's used to be our favorite, but the last three times it's been borderline awful. I'm not sure what the deal is, but as of late the quality of food has gone down almost to the point of sending it back to the kitchen. As someone who waits tables I am always VERY cautious to not be "that guy", but that also means I know what my money should be getting. Last night we ate there and it was so bad that we could hardly eat it. We ordered ribs and it was all fat and the chicken tenders were cold. That combo meal isn't cheap. Not only that, but we also had the buffalo chicken wrap and the portions have not only gotten smaller, but the price has increased by $2+ for the meal. Inflation? Maybe, but this is unacceptable. Cheddar's used to be a place we were excited to take friends and family, but anymore we don't even bother because it's such a letdown. I understand Covid has hit, but that doesn't mean you stop taking pride in your product. It's like people don't care, and that's sad. Google says they have happy hour specials. Sat at the (empty) bar on a Thursday at 7 PM and the bartender was very short with me. Answered "nope." to my question about happy hour. Wow! Tonight was my first visit to Cheddars. Had I not been informed of the prices from a friend beforehand, I probably wouldn't have gone in. The outside of the restaurant, and revolving door make this appear to be a much more high end dining experience. The food was high end quality- but the prices are great! We had a wonderful server named Chris, who was very thorough and made sure we were taken care of. My boyfriend had a chicken and shrimp dinner and he was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food he got. I ordered the "spasagna" at our server's recommendation, and I was not disappointed. It was huge, cheesy, and beyond filling. I brought half of it home in a to go box. 95% of the menu is priced in the $8-$11 range. There are tons of choices as well. The atmosphere is cozy and filled with booths to offer a more intimate dining experience. There is a huge ceiling- windmill- designer thing that rotates above the center of the restaurant. One side has a huge aquarium in the bar, that can be seen from many booths. There are tvs all over the place, but they weren't loud and overwhelming. Love this place, and I'll definitely be back. My only negative is that I didn't find this place sooner! read more

We had takeout here because of the Corona virus shutdown and were very impressed. While the menu was limited, everything we received and ordered was delicious and delivered to our car promptly. I ordered the fish with rice, corn and string beans. It was wonderful. I noticed that they need more waiters staff as my waiter was so rushed to try to get to every table. You felt sorry for him because he worked so hard and didn't have any help. The food is so good and I really liked the southern food. read more

Worst Cheddar's Experience EVER! Avoid this restaurant and go somewhere else!!! We have eaten at other Cheddar's restaurants before and thought this would be the same great food and service... we were terribly wrong. I would give ZERO starts if I could! Not sure where to start....The food was gross grilled chicken in my Key west chicken entree was rubbery, our fries in the loaded cheese fries appetizer were soggy and cooked In old oil. My husband's New Orleans pasta was cold and had the same rubbery chicken and almost no andouille sausage. My son's chicken tenders were cooked in the same old oil and tasted like burnt oil. Then the Desserts we got to go were cake and a drizzle of sauce but no toppings that make the dessert no whip cream no toasted coconut no cherries. Customer Service was also terrible we waited 15 minutes for our server to even get a drink to our table. 30 minutes for a beer. We were ignored most of the night drinks never refilled once. The Restaurant was filthy with tons of unbused tables with drinks and plates everywhere, food and trash all over the floor including under and around our table. I even called when I got home and found our desserts were also subpar and spoke with a manager who seemed oblivious to how terrible the restaurant is operating. I told her to come to Yelp and see how the community as a whole feels the restaurant is doing. She offered free meal vouchers which we declined as we will NEVER go back. read more

Yesterday afternoon, me, my fiancee, and her three boys decided we would try Cheddar's in Cool Springs. We were greeted by a very nice waitress and then here's what happened. My fiancee, and I ordered burgers, and then one of the boys ordered meatloaf, another ordered just mac & cheese, and the third youngster to order, got a club sandwich. As we ordered, I was thinking wow,how can any of us go wrong picking out such basic menu items. We didn't have to wait long for the food to be politely placed in front of us by our very energetic and professional young server. As soon as I could, I took a bite OF MY BURGER and immediately I noticed the burger didn't have much flavor. I wondered if it was me? Was it that maybe I just wasn't that hungry? But after a few more bites, I was like ok I'm sorry, but this burger is not that good. I was really surprised because usually I get a hamburger. I feel like I just can't go wrong with a hamburger. In fact this is the first review that I've ever written in my life because I can't believe that I actually got a bad hamburger at a family style restaurant. At any rate, in an effort not to ruin the mood for everyone else during our first Cheaddars experience, I just watched and kept quiet. My fiancee ate her burger, fries and salad. I did continue to pick at my fries which were very good actually. As I alternated back from the fries to my burger, I looked closely, and I noticed that a portion of my burger bun seemed to be permanently collapsed in a glue like paste with the ground beef patty. Still, I was determined I would not complain to my fiancee, at least not until my fiancee's 13-year-old (who is growing an inch a week ) said he was not too happy with the meatloaf! After a minute or two, I tried his meatloaf and it was slimy like it had some of the same processed "bread flour glue paste" mixed with a packet of Lipton onion soup or something, I mean it had no meat texture and it was more like a slimy beef flavored bread stuffing than any meatloaf I have ever had. Next My fiancee's youngest said his Mac and cheese was bad! I waited a second or two and I tried the Mac and cheese, and while It was not as far off as the meatloaf, it had an oil based buttery taste and the pasta noodles were water logged and clearly overcooked. Last to order had been the middle son, who is usually the most oppositional one, ( 11-years old ) and he had a club sandwich which ironically he really liked! As I waited for everyone else to finish, I filled up on fries, managed to eat half my burger, and the meatloaf and mac & cheese were left virtually untouched. When our server brought the check I sort of thought she would ask us if something was wrong since everybody's plate was still pretty much full of food. But she just asked if we needed to go boxes. Perhaps If I had been starving to death after shopping in Cool Springs for for five or six hours with no food or water, I probably would've eaten most anything and all of my meal. Disappointed, I politely paid the bill and I still left a nice tip but then to my surprise as we walked out of Cheddar's, there was a line of people eagerly waiting all the way out the door and down the sidewalk! I was thinking, like did I just order the wrong thing? I was still thinking about it driving home, and I thought about how a friend of mine who was from New York always says "yeah, people In middle Tennessee just line up for bad food." I don't know if that's the case or not, all I have is my experience. And my theory for Cool Springs fine dining is that many people must get out shopping and work up such a big appetite that they eat just about anything, especially after waiting an hour to be seated! Maybe, in the Franklin, TN area many restaurant connoisseurs really have no choice but to wait for inconsistent quality restaurant food where mostly teenagers and college kids are preparing food. I don't think every one is as picky as I am. But in my opinion the freshest most consistently delicious food and the best service in the greater Nashville area is found some place away from Cool Springs. I look for establishments employing more middle age, career level servers and kitchen staff. But that's just me! read more

Went to the bar to eat. Took a few minutes to get the attention of someone. Finally we did. The guy was very nice. We ordered our food and after waiting over an hour AFTER we put our food order in we asked for it to go and waited another 10 minutes. The server twice went to look in on our food order, but still took forever. We will not be going g back. Used to love Cheddars. read more

Yum. It was my first time eating here. I have to say I was impressed. I had a salad with grilled chicken and it was fresh and very tasty. The service was excellent. Two young men were our servers and they were attentive and professional. Better service than I have experienced in more upscale establishments. I will definitely go back! read more

We were sat in the cocktail/bar area and waited a few minutes to be greeted. They seemed busy with Togo orders at the bar which resulted in Us waiting 10+ minutes for a wine and a whiskey drink. The food was super underwhelming. My Buffalo chicken wrap came out with a raw tortilla and was falling apart and my partners ribs were severely overcooked and burnt. The only redeeming aspect was the complimentary croissant, because if we had to pay for it, we would have been annoyed as it was semi stale and oily. For sure won't be back. read more
