Arrived for a late lunch with my handicapped in law. The hostess seated us in the back room, furthest from the door. Fair enough if there are limited tables but there were open tables throughout the restaurant. Once at our table, the table and seats were greasy. Not cleaned properly between seasons. The digital pay kiosk was also greasy. The shrimp and pasta dish had overcooked shrimp and broccoli. It was not appealing. The grilled chicken salad was as expected. No complaints there. Toward the end of the meal, another family came in with a handicapped person. They were seated across from our table. The management should take ability into consideration when seating tables. Great location, plenty of parking food is usually decent and service is diner friendly. My last time to visit I had to move from the booth I had been originally been seated since a spill had occurred prior to my arrival and not properly cleaned. The seat was not only sticky but also had a split from front to back. Our server did apologize (for the state of the booth) and food service resumed without interruption, everything was hot and tasty. I don't usually review chains but I had to since it was my first time in Texas, and this is a Texas chain! They bring out a free plate of honey butter crossaints for every table, these are so warm and taste absolutely delectable. Very addicting and dangerous! Our table ordered the santa fe spinach dip, this is a four cheese deep with spinach, has a strong spinach taste. Good but nothing special, my friends really like this appetizer so they always get it but I would probably pass on it next time. I got the chicken pot pie for my meal. The chicken breast pieces were abundant and actually really tender and not dry which I appreciated, however the actual roux inside was a bit plain and didn't have much flavor. The vegetables were tender and didn't taste frozen though, and the flakey crust was delicious! Good for the price, but I wouldn't get it again because of the lack of flavor in the roux. We ordered some cheese curds and Pooh knew that they didn't look up to the company standards so they made sure we got a fresh batch. My food was hot and soo good. I really enjoyed my first time visiting a cheddars, the interior is very chill and relaxing. We were sat down pretty much immediately and that helped the mood a lot. Now as we sat down our waiter got our order down fast, soon after our food came out. Now a few things were missing like my gravy and someone's ranch at my table but it was brought out immediately. Went for a birthday meal with my dad and really enjoyed the meal we had. Once we got there the parking lot was packed so of course we were worried about a long wait and they told us it would be at least a 25 to 30 minute wait so we decide to see if it would happen and despite having a few larger parties ahead of us we were at a table within that 25 minute window, so that was great! My dad and I both ordered the same thing which was the half rack of ribs dinner ($14.99) which came with two sides. I had mine with green beans and a loaded baked potato. Once the food arrived, everything was delicious. Special shout out to the honey butter croissants they bring to the table while you're waiting to order. Those things were banging! Our server was friendly, and despite the restaurant clearly being very busy, was pretty attentive. I could not say anymore good stuff about this place. They are amazing because: 1) they are on time. My company is a large group (60-70) people. They open at 11 am. But I asked if they're able to accommodate our food to be ready at 11 and they were able to!!! 2) their food is amazing! Let's talk about the LACK of service here. I went to the bar and sat down. It was a little busy but that's fine. I make eye contact with the bartender, so I know he sees me. He goes to a couple of guys that were there when I got there. I am thinking that I am next. A young couple comes and sits down and what does he do? He goes to them. Had a really good experience here on my first visit! We got there right when they opened which is 11am! The manager and staff opened the doors as the parking lot was almost full at 11! Our server was Kat and she was super funny! She arrived with hot butter croissants and gave us enough time to order and relax! The bacon burger was so hot, good, and fresh! So trust me, I know how it's supposed to taste & be presented by Cheddars standards. This location is not up to par. Service: 2 - waitress was nice, but ineffective. She would pass right by our table and even stop and ask if we need anything, when my empty glass is clearly right there at the end of the table. My family and I came here after black Friday shopping around 1pm and it was a great experience. Our server Precious (I believe thats her name. She is tall with shoulder length dreads) was one of the best servers I've ever had. She was attentive, kind, friendly and went above and beyond helping us. Came here on a Friday for an early dinner. We were seated quickly and our waiter was at our table quickly. Since we were a bit short on time we immediately ordered the Cheddar's trio sampler with our drinks. We quickly received our drinks and the chips & salsa portion of the appetizer. The waiter mentioned that the appetizer would be out shortly so we went ahead and ordered our entrees. The issue we had is that the appetizer took 20 minutes to come out. By the time the appetizer arrived our entrees were ready so we received all our food together. The appetizer was delicious and the portion size of the appetizer is large for the price. The spinach dip was the best part of the trio. The flavors were good and it had the right balance of spinach and cream. The queso was delicious as well and the consistency was thick and full of ground beef. For our entrees we had the grilled chicken pecan salad and the grilled salmon. The grilled chicken pecan salad was large and packed with flavors. The pecans in the salad are a bit odd but added a delicious crunch to every bite. Overall this is a good restaurant option if your in the Mesquite area. The waiter was very professional and I don't blame him for the wait on the appetizer. First, we were placed on a waiting list, i started to see people that came after me get sat before me, so i went in and asked about my place in line, they had seated 5 groups before me, asked for a manager twice after we'd finally been seated, we had been seated for about 15 minutes before the manager finally came over (not to mention at 15 minutes in we'd still not seen our server) the manager didn't seem to care at all that we hadn't been served or that we were skipped. After i explained the issue there was just an awkward silence before he offered a free appetizer. I definitely won't be returning to this location. So Cheddars is a straight forward American food eatery. It's by no means a fine dining experience, so manage your expectations in that regard. You'll get large portions and you'll have a large menu of selections to choose from. For 3 adults our total $41. The reason the review is 3 stars is because even though Cheddars does things well, the host/hostess had handwritten names (not last names) and called "Ashley party of 2". In what world are there not 50,000 Ashley's. 2 couples walked up and the host/hostess didn't know who to seat first. Then the carpet was dirty and the server was aloof. I am not usually a fan of chain restaurants, and have lived a few miles from Cheddar's my whole life. We actually were going to go to Texas Roadhouse, but we know it is always hustle bustle and we decided we wanted something more quiet and low key. So, we wheeled into Cheddar's not expecting much, but we would give a it a try. I have eaten here before, but don't remember it being good. We were very surprised. It was quiet and comfortable and not crowded. We went about 5:30 on a Tuesday. We ordered The Spinach Dip appetizer and it came with chips and salsa. It was pretty good, especially for the price. Then we split the plate of Grilled Shrimp / Rib combo. It came with 2 sides and we chose baked potato / Caesar Salad. I am very picky about my salad. And the one at Texas Roadhouse is my favorite, so I was expecting it to be not as good. It was delicious. It came in a chilled bowl with nice size shavings of Parm and fresh croutons. AND it was large. Everything on the plate was delicious and we actually ended up bringing the leftovers home. I would never typically order ribs at this kind of restaurant, but my favorites are at Angelo's in Ft. Worth and we hadn't been in so long. They were falling off the bone and were some of the best I have ever had. The food was even still good the next day. Our waitress was great and my peach iced tea was yummy. The complimentary croissants were also wonderful. Our waitress was great. I don't remember her name, but she didn't write anything down and still got all of the orders correct.
