Came here recently for a staff members birthday lunch. As other reviewers will warn you, wait times here can be long. We had a large group and there was a long wait to get a table, to get our drink order, and then finally our food order. The restaurant is similar to Applebees or Chili's - just an average "fern bar" type restaurant. There weren't many veggie options on the menu. Lots of chicken, and of course, true to the restaurant name, lots of cheese. They brought us some incredible croissants in a thick honey butter sauce. The chips and salsa appetizer comes with salsa on the side and a meaty queso. I tried the broccoli and cheese side - the portion is tiny! This is a true side and not a good substitute for a meal. Super affordable though! They really outdid themselves on the birthday cake! Rich, chocolatey, with a fudge syrup - it was delicious. And kudos to the servers for being good sports and leading the birthday song. I really don't understand the low rating for this establishment. Cheddars is Cheddars. If you think you are going to a Michelin restaurant, you should know better just by looking at the prices and menu options, but if you do; you are surely going to be severely disappointed. Cheddars is a good value, big portions restaurant. Typically they are consistent and do provide a good product for a great value. Most meals are less than $20 which should be your first clue. My wife and I have eaten at Cheddars since the early 2000s and while the food quality is not what it was before they were purchased by Darden, think Olive Garden; the food is a good value. read more

Arrived for a late lunch with my handicapped in law. The hostess seated us in the back room, furthest from the door. Fair enough if there are limited tables but there were open tables throughout the restaurant. Once at our table, the table and seats were greasy. Not cleaned properly between seasons. The digital pay kiosk was also greasy. The shrimp and pasta dish had overcooked shrimp and broccoli. It was not appealing. The grilled chicken salad was as expected. No complaints there. Toward the end of the meal, another family came in with a handicapped person. They were seated across from our table. The management should take ability into consideration when seating tables. Teach your hostess staff to do better. We won't be back. read more

Great location, plenty of parking food is usually decent and service is diner friendly. My last time to visit I had to move from the booth I had been originally been seated since a spill had occurred prior to my arrival and not properly cleaned. The seat was not only sticky but also had a split from front to back. Our server did apologize (for the state of the booth) and food service resumed without interruption, everything was hot and tasty. They bring out a free plate of honey butter crossaints for every table, these are so warm and taste absolutely delectable. Very addicting and dangerous! Our table ordered the santa fe spinach dip, this is a four cheese deep with spinach, has a strong spinach taste. Good but nothing special, my friends really like this appetizer so they always get it but I would probably pass on it next time. I got the chicken pot pie for my meal. The chicken breast pieces were abundant and actually really tender and not dry which I appreciated, however the actual roux inside was a bit plain and didn't have much flavor. The vegetables were tender and didn't taste frozen though, and the flakey crust was delicious! Good for the price, but I wouldn't get it again because of the lack of flavor in the roux. If you order pick up or delivery you will be disappointed. My food was delivered to me icy cold and the order was incomplete. I called my just with the hope that they would refund me for the missing chicken fried steak and fixings but no. They won't. The woman who answered the phone just asked what could she do about that. I have to start by saying we had the best customer service that we have had in a long time. Not only did Pooh make sure that we had everything we needed. The recommendations were on point. We ordered some cheese curds and Pooh knew that they didn't look up to the company standards so they made sure we got a fresh batch. My food was hot and soo good. I had to force myself to save some for later even though I didn't want to. The drink was good and enough for me to share with my husband. We knew that we were going to have good food. I really enjoyed my first time visiting a cheddars, the interior is very chill and relaxing. We were sat down pretty much immediately and that helped the mood a lot. Now as we sat down our waiter got our order down fast, soon after our food came out. Now a few things were missing like my gravy and someone's ranch at my table but it was brought out immediately. Went for a birthday meal with my dad and really enjoyed the meal we had. Once we got there the parking lot was packed so of course we were worried about a long wait and they told us it would be at least a 25 to 30 minute wait so we decide to see if it would happen and despite having a few larger parties ahead of us we were at a table within that 25 minute window, so that was great! My dad and I both ordered the same thing which was the half rack of ribs dinner ($14.99) which came with two sides. I had mine with green beans and a loaded baked potato. Once the food arrived, everything was delicious. Special shout out to the honey butter croissants they bring to the table while you're waiting to order. Those things were banging! Our server was friendly, and despite the restaurant clearly being very busy, was pretty attentive. Though I typically don't like waiting too long at restaurants, with the speed that Cheddar's moved at I would check this place out again in the future, and try some other things on the menu. read more

I could not say anymore good stuff about this place. They are amazing because: 1) they are on time. My company is a large group (60-70) people. They open at 11 am. But I asked if they're able to accommodate our food to be ready at 11 and they were able to!!! 2) their food is amazing! Got to visit with a friend I hadn't seen in 13 years! This Cheddars in Mesquite was a halfway meet up for us during her trip. Our server, Heather, was amazing! The food was delicious. We never felt rushed or forgotten. She sent us home with some delicious croissants to go. Highly recommend and will go again myself if I'm in the area. Had a really good experience here on my first visit! We got there right when they opened which is 11am! The manager and staff opened the doors as the parking lot was almost full at 11! Our server was Kat and she was super funny! She arrived with hot butter croissants and gave us enough time to order and relax! The bacon burger was so hot, good, and fresh! My family and I came here after black Friday shopping around 1pm and it was a great experience. Our server Precious (I believe thats her name. She is tall with shoulder length dreads) was one of the best servers I've ever had. She was attentive, kind, friendly and went above and beyond helping us. Came here on a Friday for an early dinner. We were seated quickly and our waiter was at our table quickly. Since we were a bit short on time we immediately ordered the Cheddar's trio sampler with our drinks. We quickly received our drinks and the chips & salsa portion of the appetizer. The waiter mentioned that the appetizer would be out shortly so we went ahead and ordered our entrees. The issue we had is that the appetizer took 20 minutes to come out. By the time the appetizer arrived our entrees were ready so we received all our food together. The appetizer was delicious and the portion size of the appetizer is large for the price. The spinach dip was the best part of the trio. The flavors were good and it had the right balance of spinach and cream. The queso was delicious as well and the consistency was thick and full of ground beef. For our entrees we had the grilled chicken pecan salad and the grilled salmon. The grilled chicken pecan salad was large and packed with flavors. The pecans in the salad are a bit odd but added a delicious crunch to every bite. Overall this is a good restaurant option if your in the Mesquite area. The waiter was very professional and I don't blame him for the wait on the appetizer. WORST Cheddars experience I've ever had. First, we were placed on a waiting list, i started to see people that came after me get sat before me, so i went in and asked about my place in line, they had seated 5 groups before me, asked for a manager twice after we'd finally been seated, we had been seated for about 15 minutes before the manager finally came over (not to mention at 15 minutes in we'd still not seen our server) the manager didn't seem to care at all that we hadn't been served or that we were skipped. After i explained the issue there was just an awkward silence before he offered a free appetizer. I definitely won't be returning to this location. So Cheddars is a straight forward American food eatery. It's by no means a fine dining experience, so manage your expectations in that regard. You'll get large portions and you'll have a large menu of selections to choose from. For 3 adults our total $41. The reason the review is 3 stars is because even though Cheddars does things well, the host/hostess had handwritten names (not last names) and called "Ashley party of 2". In what world are there not 50,000 Ashley's. 2 couples walked up and the host/hostess didn't know who to seat first. Then the carpet was dirty and the server was aloof.
