Really seriously good food, good portions and they're open when others around them are not.

We dropped our turtle at the Avian and Exotic Vet and asked about a place for lunch. They recommended Cheddar. We are not usually big on chains and have had a bad Cheddar experience in Findlay Ohio but thought we would give it try in Pooler. It was a pleasant surprise. We told our waitress we had less than an hour and she said she would immediately take our order. I had a blackened salmon salad. The Salmon was perfect, the greens fresh and the candied walnuts were sweet. It came with a fresh warm croissant that was smothered in butter. I was wiping the butter off when a manager walked by and said let me get you a fresh one without butter. They were so good, I ate both. My other half opted for a club sandwich that was good size and came with choice of a side. She had a creamy coleslaw. All were very good. The waitress brought the check and I paid as we finished our meal. Service was excellent. We got to our appointment a few minutes late because of a wrong turn or two. Food was good the only thing I didn't like on my plate it was baked potato it was cold and the cheese wasn't melted the rest was good my steak was hot and tasty it's not the first time I come to Cheddars and potatoes it's always cold and mashed potatoes was lumpy but crescent is out of this world and staff is Great they palate understanding they know they job give them plus 5. We adore eating at Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen. We don't have one near us so when we travel we like to stop when we can. This location is right off I-95 near Savannah, Ga. We stopped at 11:45 on a Thursday. Our initial impression was not good as at the 6 minute mark we stopped someone to ask who our server was as they had not been by. Someone took our drink order but it was another several minutes before they (iced teas) arrived. After that our food arrived fast and was delicious. Their chicken tenders are incomparable. The breading is perfect and they are cooked to perfection. The salads were fresh. We always love the food. Once our food arrived we did not see our server until we were done eating. If we had had problems with the food I'm not sure how long we would've sat waiting to resolve the problem. This location seems to have a small problem with the customer service and/or staffing. I am visiting from New York, and my first time eating here. We were met with a friendly smile throughout the restaurant. We were sorted in a booth. (Tad bid cold) our waitress was Tiana she was super friendly very attentive and helpful. Our food was delicious I had the best loaded potato soup, half rack of ribs and red beans and rice. I found the food delicious(ribs a little salty). The peach and mango lemonade was fantastic and the carrot cake was garnished with walnuts was excellent. Don't know how this place always looks busy ... when the food was TERRIBLE. Would leave negative stars but can not. I couldn't even eat my food since it looked soooo bad. Under cooking food is a way to get sick and respectfully I do not want to get sick over some under cooked food. Luckily the staff was nice and took it off my bill. Ate at a Cheddar's years back in B'ham, and recalled it as a pretty good stop. This location was not great, but not bad. The mashed potatoes and green beans that came with my meal were top notch. I thought the chicken fried steak was overcooked. Should have gone with the chicken and dumplings. This part of Pooler has really commercialized over the past few years. Came in to a packed restaurant on a Friday night, the wait eas worth it though. Place was clean. As soon as I was seated, the server was very friendly and attentive throughout. The food was amazing!! Even though they were busy the food came out fresh and on time. Ordered the cheese curds, salmon, ribs, and steak. All items were fresh and cooked to perfection. Got the New Orleans pasta. The shrimp and the sausage was fantastic. The chicken was ok (bits of fat and cartilage in it). The seasoning was good but the sauce could have used more of the seasoning in it. The noodles were ok, I just prefer al dente noodles and these were as little too soft. Tried the buffalo chicken tenders. The chicken and breading were good but the sauce wasn't a favorite IMO. I could taste ketchup in it. read more

The food is a hit or miss depending on the day. The portions have reduced a lot over the last year. The service also depends on the day. The restaurant itself needs a good deep cleaning, especially the women's bathroom. I don't even want to think about the kitchen. I had heard raves about this place and decided to have our ladies luncheon there. I called two days before and told them I would need a table for 12 people. Unfortunately, when we arrived the table was not ready and we had to wait 15 minutes. The table was a tight fit for the 12 of us. I was not impressed with the menu, but was able to find something that appealed to me. Believe me I am not a fussy eater, but they had nothing that appealing to me. I settle on soup and bread. We visited here a day after the snow storm in January 2018. They were short staffed but you couldn't tell. The service was fast and the food came out right away. The prices here are incredible. I'm not even sure how they can be so cheap. It's total comfort food and very southern. But the atmosphere and decor are very nice. My husband ordered chicken fingers with broccoli casserole and Mac and cheese. I got a vegetable plate with a salad, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and a sweet potato. It's nice to see lots of veggie options. Our food was great. This would be a place you could bring your family without breaking the bank or nice enough for a date if you are on a budget. read more

Cheddars has always been my go to late evening restaurant. The food is always prompt and they have a very good selection of drinks. The waiters and even managers are very comfortable and approachable. You can see the interaction between the employees on shift. There's always a good game on and the price of food and drinks here are very reasonable. Better than many other restaurants even during their happy hour. read more

In general I feel like Cheddars as a chain provides a pretty consistent experience. It's usually good, not great but it's reliable. This location is not an exception the only difference is that it's reliably lackluster. My last experience was even less than that. I understand that things are a little tough still in the labor market but good lord. My friend and I sat at the bar. It was a full hour before closing time. The bartenders (neither bothered to introduce themselves) acted like they'd rather us not be there. The drinks, once we got them, were poorly made. No bev nap, no straws. The food came out fine (the only reason for the second star) but the runner had to get us utensils. No offer for second drinks, no suggestions for anything. Three separate requests to get the check. Not so much a thank you as we got up to leave. It'll be my last trip to this location. read more

After being there for over 1 hour he tried to seat a party of 4 who had only been waiting 20 minutes. I had a party of 5. Even the other party spoke up and said something. Great conversation, service, and went over details about the menu. The food was delicious. I had The New Orleans Pasta, it was very tasty. Excellent prices and the portions were BIG. Eat half so that you have room for dessert. "Everything" is homemade. My excellent decision was to have "Hot Fudge Cake Sundae. WOW ! It's listed as huge and 4 of us shared it. A friend and I stopped in after a movie for dinner. We arrived an hour before closing and there was still a wait for seating, but we were offered a seat at the bar and were fine with that. Out of the 2 bartenders, neither mentioned their name or offered us anything. About 20 minutes in, they were complaining loudly about customers who come in late (so still a solid 30-40 minutes before close). It was as though we weren't even there. Despite us both ordering drinks off the menu, neither was made correctly nor even really served to us. The bartender just left our drinks sitting where he made them, and walked away. We had to help ourselves to straws and drinks napkins. The food was fresh and hot, so no complaints there. We both had to ask more than once for the check despite it seeming like they were trying to rush us out of there. I typically really love a visit to Cheddar's, but this location just puts a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I've always wanted to go to cheddars because I see how packed it is. I went and the overall experience was pretty good. I went with a family of 6 and the service was good and fast. We ordered combos and steaks and they all came out pretty good. I really loved the cheese bites for my appetizer. I also had Country Fried Steak for my entree it was ok but really oily and greasy it did not sit right with me at all. We had some drinks and that was really good. The 3 times my husband and I went, everything was okay. My husband and I went to eat here the other night and everything was okay, the server was so nice and so awesome. As we were waiting for our cheesecake the bus boy comes over to our tables and says "can I take these plates out of the way" and we say yea, so he removes the plates and then proceeds to take our FULL drinks and my full margarita out of our hands and dumps them out right in front of us. I was LIVID. If I'm gonna send the $5 on a margarita, obviously I'm gonna want to finish it, but instead he literally took our full drinks out of ours hands and dumps them out. The lighting in the booth was terrible as the light was behind my head and my food was in a shadow the entire time. I was ignored for 25 minutes before someone asked me what I'd like to drink. When I finally ordered, my appetizer, salad, and entree came out two minutes later. They must have just had what I ordered sitting under a warming light. It was so old, so cold. It was trash. Also, it was delivered with no silverware. I had to flag someone else down to ask for silverware - again, they said nothing. I wasn't sure if he would ever come back with my silverware. when Cheddars restaurant came to Pooler, GA it was great. the potato soup was to die for. All the food was fresh and presented beautifully. it only lasted maybe a year. then the food was terrible. as it is today. last visit I was so disappointed. the soup was like paste, and after repeating my request to NOT put any bacon on my soup, it was loaded with tiny pieces of bacon. the server was talking to me and hubby as if we were babies. calling us sweety, baby, and honey. I hate that. but the food was the worst. the salad was 7 kinds of nasty. even the free rolls were a little undercooked (they were very soft). I ask the waitress about the change in food. she said the restaurant had been sold about a year after it opened. So there's your sign. The staff was very polite, but the food took a very long time. I did appreciate the updates and the apologies. On the other side of this, the food was as great as I remembered. I started with the chips and queso. For my meal I had the Monte Cristo. By looking at the description, you may think it'd be disgusting, but it's very worth trying. It has become one of my personal favorites. I ended off the night with the Monster Cookie. Very good food. Very polite staff. I just wish the food didn't take as long as it did. read more

This place is amazing on some days and terrible on another. Everything we ordered came out incorrect, and had to be returned. Each time we go here they never give us our appetizer before our meal, it comes out with your meal or close to it. I had the read the bad reviews on Yelp about Cheddar's but decided to give it a try anyways. Since it was the first time we've ever been there. Now I can say for myself, they were all true. We were a party of 6, came in at 9:20pm (they close at 10pm) After we ordered, they waitress came back a few minutes later to tell us that there were no lemons for our water, no alfredo sauce for my son's pasta and no 8oz sirloin steaks only 16oz steaks. My husband ordered a Samuel Adam's beer and they waitress brought him a seasonal beer. My daughter ordered a side of mac & cheese, and was brought a side of mashed potatoes. The appetizer we ordered never made it out of the kitchen. And the food that we did receive, was terribly bad. No need to say that we are never going back to Cheddar's. Ever. read more

Ordered curbside pickup. Order was 10 minutes late but not complaining about that. I ordered a salad bowl of soup and country fried chicken. The salad was all over the bottom of the bag, the soup was not even half a serving, only about an inch in the container and the dinner was missing the gravy.
