I visit the cheddar in Riverview with my 8 year old some and a friendgirl with me. I asked the manager can he let me waitress know I need her to bring me more bread. The manager got very rude with me and stood at my table and argued with me about me getting more bread to my table. He was very disrespectful and I notice while we were at the table he kept walking by looking at us too much that I felt uncomfortable about it. He made me and my guess feel very uncomfortable and he didn't handle the situation like a manager.but more like a haters would. It was easy for him to walk away and give my waitress the message but instead he stood there, and argued back at me. And it was over nothing but me asking for more bread. And on top of that he asked us to leave in the middle of us eating. The fact that my son wanted the bread and he refused to make sure we had the bread I felt like he was rascal against us. We had another lady standing over our table that didn't introduce herself to us. So we had to leave without really eating our meal. And I would not recommend any brown skin people to support them. We was treated like trash in that place. I sent in a complaint to their head office and a month went by and I haven't heard from anyone on this matter. And the fact that my family and I was embarrassed in front of all the other customers and refused our food to us to a point that if you see the video you will see I done nothing wrong for them to want the police to come out. That's how my family and I was treated and with no respect. I feel like I should sue because of the emotional stress me and my family had to endure. Went with a girlfriend this week and I had the coconut fried shrimp which is to die for! And the painkiller sauce is absolutely fantastic. I will definitely be back in the next couple weeks to order. It was the first time I had it. The only part that was a little bit tacky was the hostess didn't realize I have a slight walking disability. She was long gone seating my friend ... which was fine. But when she was halfway back to the front desk she realized I was still headed to the table. She also realized at this point that I was struggling to walk. Instead of politely walking me to the table she just pointed and said you're over there. Really? Had she walked with me that would have been so classy. Cheddars is amazing, ever since I tried it for the first time I've developed a real addiction... just... just try it, try the complimentary honey butter croissants, try the wisconsin cheese curds... you will be hooked.... Yum yum yum! We stopped in for a birthday dinner after a fun outing at a local escape room! While it was busy inside it was only about 10-15 minutes before we were seated. At the time we had a birthday cake with us, and the staff were receptive to place the cake in a fridge in back for us. Our table and booth were nice and clean! Our server was friendly and checked in plenty of times to ensure we were doing well. We love cheddars for their large menu and their affordable pricing. I ordered the monte cristo and my oh my! I was not disappointed! I ordered it with a side of fries and they were perfectly cooked! I used a friends sauce and I believe it was a maple bourbon syrup and it was soooo delicious!! My friends ordered the meatloaf which looked nice and juicy instead of the dry crumbly meatloaves I've seen at other restaurants. Another friend ordered the ribs with pork chops and they looked delicious. The best part of the meal is the free order of croissants that you get! They're so soft, fluffy, and flaky they melt in your mouth. When it came time to eat the cake we brought the waitress brought out the cake and brought additional plates and silverware for cutting and serving the cake. Order the chicken tender salad with honey mustard, chicken was bland, salad was a salad, and the honey mustard made my sinuses burn like crazy (never experienced that before and thought it was just me til I got home and everyone said the same thing). My grandma ordered a veggie platter: a house salad with ranch, two cole slaws, corn, and a baked potato. She liked the slaw and the potato a lot but said the salad was subpar because of the plain ranch and the corn tasted frozen. Not very good all in all. The crossiants aren't anything to call home about. Limited menu, limited taste. I could've had Cracker Barrel if I wanted a home cooked feel with cheaper and tastier prices! We had the Cheddars croissants, a baby back rib and grilled shrimp combo, with a baked sweet potato and steamed broccoli, and redfish with crab sauce over rice, green beans, and slaw. The croissants were forgettable, as in not made with butter and bland. You only get 4 grilled shrimp, and they were grilled and beyond well done to almost shrimp jerky. You won't like the broccoli if you like it steamed aldente, but the baked sweet potato was good and the ribs were tender and tasty. The red fish was so overdone, I had to send it back, which was very good when redone. Since I shared my shrimp with a friend and there were only 4, I declined sending back 2 shrimp. The one thing I like about cheddars is that no matter which one you go to, you can expect a certain quality of service and food (no mater how low or high), and they should be able to deliver around that. I'm giving this cheddars 4 stars. Not because they are spectacular (because it's cheddars, it won't be). I'm giving it 4 stars because it's consistent with all the cheddars I've been to. Good service, good food and good selections. The one thing I like about this cheddars is the interior is nice. It's a nice ambience. I also like how's there's ample parking here! I've been to cheddars many times and I can save I really enjoy their seafood dishes, their baked potato soup, their chicken tenders, their onion rings and their pasta. Cheddars is typically a good experience for me. I have been to other Cheddars before so I expected the same from this restaurant. The food and drinks are always well priced and delicious. During this visit, I bought something off of the "lighter side". It was the Sweet Heat Chicken & Shrimp. I also got the broccoli casserole as a side. When I got the food, it came out and looked nice. As I was eating the chicken though, I noticed that part of it was undercooked! My friend who also ordered the same thing had even more of her chicken undercooked. It was disgusting and ruined my meal. The shrimp, rice, salad, and broccoli casserole were good. This was my first time here and I was surprised by the quality of the food. I honestly didn't have a favorable opinion of the place prior to today's visit, but my dad wanted to eat here. Although the lobby was packed with large parties, our party of 3 was seated immediately at a nice, clean booth. Our server greeted us promptly and was very friendly. We ordered the honey butter croissants to start. So yummy, warm, and delicious...reminds me of those same kind of croissants we would get at Hops back in the day. Our entrees, while they may not have been very pleasing to the eyes, were quite satisfactory to our tastebuds. I got the grilled salmon ($13) with green beans and mashed potatoes. It was a little on the salty side, but not too bad. My mother enjoyed her sirloin steak and ribs ($16) and my dad cleaned his plate of blackened salmon with shrimp ($16). I tried a piece of my mom's steak and I was surprised how juicy and flavorful it was - not the best steak I've ever had, but better than any I've ever gotten at Outback. Service was a tad slow, but it was pretty packed for Father's Day. All the staff we encountered were courteous and helpful, and the restroom was clean. I'll come here again for sure. read more

As soon as you walk in the front revolving door has been out of service for nearly 2 years ( you think that with the money they are making they would have fixed that door a long time ago???). We love Cheddars in Orlando however this one in Tampa, not so much. We understood because it was a holiday it would be busy, and it was. We were seated and our waiter was a nice young man. I don't know if he was inexperienced but there were long periods where he didn't come to our table to check in with us. After we sat for a few minutes , we received the complimentary croissants they advertised. They basically were Pillsbury croissants with honey & butter melted on them. The butter and honey tasted delicious, not much to say about the croissants, they were Pillsbury. If you love those than you'll love them. We waited almost 30 minutes for our meals. The waiter finally came to tell us the two steak dinners were ready however the rib dinner wasn't. Why in the world would the chef put down steaks before he can heat up ribs. Let's be real, this isn't a 5-star Steak & Rib restaurant so you know those ribs were probably precooked and just heated through with sauce. I asked the waiter if our steaks were dried up from waiting, he said he'd check to make sure they weren't. We ordered our steaks medium. The food finally arrived and one of the steaks that was supposed to be 8 oz. cooked medium looked like a piece of leather and couldn't have weighed more than 3 oz. This is the kitchen managers fault for not looking at that dish & telling the chef to cook a new one. We had to send it back. They did quickly bring a freshly cooked steak back to the table and when they did they placed fresh sides with it. They got one wrong side but it wasn't worth saying anything about it. I do want to mention that I ordered a 6 oz. steak which was cooked perfectly but it didn't look smaller than the steak that my son ordered. So honestly I think they tell you your buying a 6 or 8 oz steak but serve the same size. There is a $3.00 price difference. between the two. Again, not a steakhouse so we get it. My sides were mashed potatoes and green beans. The mashed potatoes were very pasty (looked like plastic food) and the "green beans" I requested were not green beans, they were Lima beans. I do have to say, the beans were delicious. The other order was ribs, my son enjoyed them. His sides were fries (generous serving ) and broccoli (a single broccoli spear on the plate. :/ Overall this was a mediocre meal at best. We were so disappointed since we've always loved going to the Orlando Cheddars which has superior service and food. We wondered why the manager (no clue who it was) didn't come to the table after we sent back our food. NOTE TO MANAGER: By the time the food arrived, the entire section we were sitting in was empty except for the obnoxious family sitting behind us. So there was no reason to not have time to check on the customers. I would never return to this location again. read more

The new Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen has been open a few weeks along N. Dale Mabry Highway in Carrollwood, and so I figured they would have made it through the opening night jitters, and settled into a steady rhythm. Unfortunately that was not the case. Cheddar's is located along the west side of Dale Mabry, in an area where the new WOW! That's Fresh (WTF), Eyeglass World, and relocated Outback Steakhouse buildings have been constructed. The parking lot was filled on a weeknight at about 6:30, and there were lots of older folks lined up at the podium waiting for tables. The restaurant is nicely decorated with exposed brick and green ferns, dark paint, and butcher block tabletops. The audience was surprisingly older -- maybe they offer an early bird happy hour special? I only saw one family with younger kids sitting in my section of the restaurant. After a short wait, I was seated in a booth along the main walkway linking the inbound and outbound kitchen doors. There were a lot of servers jogging back and forth along this walkway, and they were still trying to figure out which was the "In" door and which was the "Out" door. I also saw people pushing buckets of dirty water with mops, and dust pans with brooms, right past tables of people that were eating dinner. There were also several busboys congregating along the walls, and they were holding trays with squirt bottles and wet rags. Surely there is a better way to organize and manage the staff? I sincerely hope that it was just my server having a bad night, but I certainly had the sense that a lot of the wait staff was wandering around aimlessly. In most restaurants there is a practiced ballet of servers and bus boys carrying trays of dishes, hot food, and cold drinks to the various tables. However when I visited this Cheddar's, the wait staff nearly ran into each other - multiple times, because no one was really paying attention to where they were going. My server was aloof, and never made eye contact with me, which seemed very odd. He recited a lengthy list of drink and appetizer specials while staring off into space, and seemed disappointed when I only wanted to order a Diet Coke. The menu has a mix of bar appetizers, salads, soups, wraps, sandwiches, burgers, and then chicken, fish, ribs, steaks, and a variety of combo platters. Most dinner entrées were in the $12 - 15 range, with several choices at about $10. They also have a full bar, and a separate bar area. I started my meal with a house salad, and then ordered the Dijon Chicken which was listed as grilled chicken breast with a honey Dijon sauce, served over rice with sautéed mushrooms and two sides. For my sides I selected Mac 'n Cheese, and Southern-style green beans. For some unknown reason, my entrée was served after I was about two bites into my salad. That seems like a server error, and not the fault of the kitchen. Unfortunately at this point my server decided to disappear, and I eventually had to flag down another staff member to get a refill on my drink. The whole experience felt sloppy and disorganized. The food was ok, but not as good as I've experienced at other Cheddar's restaurants around the Tampa Bay area. Let's hope that resolve many of these issues in the very near future, as they could surely be a much better restaurant. read more

I am a true stickler for customer service and I am truly horrified at the service I received tonight. I wanted to place a ToGo order and was given a photo copied paper menu with size 2 font and told to go to the bar. With about 5 people at the bar and 4 bartenders you would think that there would be more than enough attention paid to the patrons. As I stood at the bar for 7 minutes and did not even receive a greeting I became upset and walked back to the hostess and asked for a manager. She apologized and said she would come out. After 10 minutes of waiting to speak with the manager I felt extremely frustrated and HANGRY (hungry and angry) At about 12 minutes Dawn, the manager on duty asked what was the problem and after listening to the way I was treated, simply says I should have been directed to the bar and asked did I want to place an order. After the nonchalant attitudes displayed I was ready to walk out but did not have the time to head elsewhere for a meal so I decided to stay. The food came out looking delicious and edible but after the way I felt I could have gone home and had oatmeal. I have a thing about glowing customer service because I can cook at home and do not have to spend money at anyone's establishment to be treated poorly. To them tonight I may have been a nobody trying to get a meal but I am writing and sharing my opinion about the truth. On top of my frustration from the service I got home and the chicken in my Maple Bacon Chicken Sandwich was undercooked and pink in the middle. Now I am upset and disgusted from the thought of having food poisoning. So to Cheddar's treat all customers with dignity and respect because minus patrons you have an empty building with staff standing around in aprons. I am upset that this has to be my first review when last week and over the weekend I was served by Autumn and Noemi who did a wonderful job. So decided to come to this place for an early dinner/late lunch on a Saturday. This place is usually super crowded when we drive by. When we came in there were a few parties waiting and I noticed open High tops in the bar area. The hostess said those were first come first serve so we decided to sit there. The inside is nicely decorated which I got to analyze for a long time because we waited FOREVER for someone to greet us. In fact I had to grab my own menu and got a chance to study it for a long time before someone even said hello. There were several servers passing back and forth between us. There was even a previous check left on the table from the person before. Fortunately when someone finally did come to our table they noticed we may have been waiting long and acknowledged us. She said that this was a scratch kitchen which was nice. We kind of got right to it and skipped all the menu explanation ish. I ordered from the lighter side menu miso salmon with broccoli. It was good and a nice size portion. It satisfied my hunger without breaking my diet. The prices are decent so I can see why it is so crowded. My wife ordered a top sirloin and asked for horseradish like she's done for the last 20 years of our marriage! She almost wanted to change her order when 5he waitress told her they didn't have horseradish. With such a varied menu you would think they would offer it if a customer asked. Then there their "loaded baked potato" (finger quotes). You order it and the waitress asks if you want bacon for 1.00 extra. What? I just ordered a loaded baked potato! I recently found out about Cheddar's through one being built by my parents' place, and I'm astonished I didn't find this sooner. The ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful and makes you feel like you're in a five-star restaurant with low-ball prices. I have never tried a Monte Cristo before coming here, but now I'm not sure if I'll ever eat enough of them. The honey butter croissants (first time of me ever hearing of these) were very well-made and an order of them is only $3. The sampler is very VERY good. I will sacrifice my first-born child for that queso and I will scream to the heavens if they get rid of the awesome tenders. The queso might even be the best I've had. The only downside is the lack of sides and the sides themselves are a bit lackluster. I'd recommend eating here! read more
